Beamsy and Britt - Saying goodbye to the 2023/24 summer
We've reached the end of the women's cricket season in Australia and it's time to wrap the 2023/24 summer up in a neat little bow. Tasmania have claimed their third-straight Ruth Preddy Cup in the 50-over Women's National Cricket League, as Heather Graham starred with the ball (3 wickets) and Nicola Carey powered the Tigers home with the bat. A match-winning century from Carey saw her earn POTM honours, whilst debunking the silly cricket superstition associated with scoring 'a Nelson' (111 runs). In India, the second season of the Women's Premier League has just got underway and although plenty of Aussies are featuring in the tournament again, none have really shone just yet.Beamsy and Britt discuss Tasmania's domestic dominance and ponder whether the Australian WPL imports might be a bit tired, before looking back on some of the broader talking points of the summer regarding new captain Alyssa Healy and the anticipation of a potentially shortened Women's Big Bash League next season.

Beamsy and Britt - Australia vs South Africa Test Review
Australia have won the multi-format women's series against South Africa 12 points to 4, after a huge Test victory in Perth by an innings and 284 runs. Annabel Sutherland's special double century and Darcie Brown's 5fa highlighted the Test match as both young players entertained the fans and gave a promising glimpse into the future of the Australian women's team. For the Proteas though, the situation was dire, as they slumped to their lowest Test innings total early on and struggled to build partnerships on a bouncy pitch. Major talking points include: Marizanne Kapp's omission through illness, Laura Wolvaardt's captaincy, and the long list of retirements that has resulted in a major loss of experience for South Africa due to a breakdown in relationship between its administration and its players.

Beamsy and Britt - Australia vs South Africa ODI Review
Australia lead the multi-format women's series 8-4 with just the Test match left to come. Before we get there though, Beamsy and Britt discuss all the action from the one-day international matches, which saw Marizanne Kapp star with the bat. But is it boom or bust for the Proteas if Kapp doesn't perform? Other talking points include: the lack of media coverage for Ash Gardner's second Belinda Clark Award, reflections from Meg Lanning and Rach Haynes about the pressures of leading the Australian team, and Sophie Molineux's well deserved Test call-up after losing her national contract.

Beamsy and Britt - Australia vs South Africa T20I Review
South Africa has gotten its first-ever victory against Australia in women's cricket but its the hosts that have won the T20 International component of the multi-format series to take a 4-2 lead overall. So far, it's felt like the tour has been The Beth Mooney Show, after the opening batter claimed two Player of the Match awards, became the new highest run-scorer at Manuka Oval, and also managed to steer her team home in the deciding T20I in Hobart whilst battling food poisoning. The Proteas have shown glimpses of greatness and new captain Laura Wolvaardt has learnt so much in such a small space of time, but they'll have their work cut out for them over the next couple of weeks as they take on Australia in the ODIs — the world number one team's strongest format.

Beamsy and Britt - India record maiden Test victory against Australia
A controversial moment between captains, two unfortunate run-outs and a slip in fielding standards were the demise of our national women's cricket team in Mumbai. As the subcontinent conditions saw India record their maiden Test victory against Australia on Christmas Eve by eight wickets. Especially with plenty of hard selection calls on the cards, as Australia tries to squeeze too many great bowlers into its playing XI.

Harrison Crowe is the 21 year old amateur playing The Masters
There’s five Aussie golfers lining up at The Masters this week and one of them is Harrison Crowe, a 21-year-old Sydney amateur who went viral for hitting a ball onto the 18th green at St. Andrews from outside a pub. That’s not exactly how he qualified, but hitting balls over buildings can’t hurt his chances of taking on the challenges of Augusta.
Crowe spoke to Marlee & Declan from Sport and Spice ahead of the biggest week in his life.

Blake Lawrie: We needed to prove that the performance against the Sharks wasn't us
St George Illawarra prop Blake Lawrie says the big win against the Dolphins should help give belief to the fans - and the playing group - that they can have a good season. Lawrie only scored his first senior try last season but has already gone over twice this year and he's got some advice for the still tryless Tiger Alex Twal. However he's on the fence about who he thinks would win the mooted boxing match between former team-mates Jeremy Latimore and Paul Vaughan (but mostly because he's worried he'll get called out next).
