It's time to invade a ... warehouse. Ok, so that's not terribly dramatic sounding, but believe me, it's pretty intense. On this week's episode we arrive at New Seran and are treated to something out of a sketch comedy show. Seriously, Wax and co should take this act on the road. These chapters feature some very cute relationship moments and the train robbery that contributed heavily to the choice of song for this book. In addition, Steris just keeps climbing the ladder of favorite characters for the crew. See it happen again on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

It probably won't come as a shock to too many listeners, especially after last week, but the crew is getting a little bit tired of Wayne and his selfish antics. Wax finds a dead body and then has a little chat with god. So, you know, not a particularly eventful couple of chapters or anything. The crew is really getting drawn into the story now that our apparent villain is coming into focus. Though the name "Bleeder" doesn't exactly wow them. Joe missed this one, but you'll find a little addition from him spliced awkwardly into the beginning of the episode. Are my editing skills absolutely par or what? ... Sub you say? Huh. Alright then. We're rapidly approaching the end of the book now, but exactly what that end will look like is still shrouded in mystery for our newbies. Some great theories this week, though. Is Mr. Suit not human? Is Miles an old friend in disguise? Is Marasi still the secret bad guy? Who knows? Not us on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

This week our crew gets to meet the infamous Miles Hundredlives, and then they get to see Wax fight him on top of a moving train. Also, Clamps appears. I can't stress enough how much we all love that there's a guy called Clamps in this book. Hear the myriad Futurama references that inevitably follow on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

This week there's a couple of attempted murders, which, let's be honest, is kind of a step back from all the actual killing in the previous episode. On top of that, we get some very emotional backstory on Wayne, which has each of our crew feeling like actual feelings for this wacky, off-the-wall sidekick. THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!! - FBI Special Agent Paul Smecker So, yeah, that sums up the first chapter pretty well. And then there's a nice little chat about chemistry and human nature, just for a change of pace. Kind of whiplashy couple of chapters for our crew, but they came through them ok. Still a lot of suspicious looks being thrown Marasi's way. There's just something off about that girl. Hear what everyone thinks about her on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Jaymee is out this week. So the boys get together to discuss a chatty couple of chapters. Marasi's character starts to develop a bit more, and the Wax and Wayne relationship is really coming to life - that is until the party is stormed by bandits, a guy gets murdered, and Steris and Marasi are both kidnapped. Things really took a turn for the worse in these chapters. I have to apologize for this one, all. The fates were against us. Joe had to skip the episode, and then my computer died in the middle of recording the intro. So I recorded the rest from my phone, and it doesn't sound amazing. I did what I could in the edit, but it wasn't much. Interesting chapters, fun discussion, it's just not up to our usual audio quality, and I'm sorry about that. Back to 3 chapters this week, and everyone is very interested to see our three separate stories begin colliding a bit. We've reached about the halfway point this book, and everyone can sense that things are really starting to fall into place. The final gang leader is revealed, and Sarene reveals herself to Iadon (not like that). All this and Old Man Joe on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Our last two-chapter chunk for this book. The crew is outraged by Dilaf and his unauthorized attempt to burn an Elantrian. Then they're amused by our meeting with Hrathen's good buddy, Forton the potion maker. He's a heretic, a hypocrite, and loves doing drugs, a triple threat, really. After that Raoden makes a discovery about AonDor that has the crew optimistic that maybe some magic will show up in the book after all. All this and a list of things Duladel is famous for on this episode of The Sanderlanche!

Jaymee is back this week! And we're so excited about it that I think we went a little crazy on this episode. It's a long one. Everyone thinks that Raoden is maybe having too easy a time of it as he converts his second gang in these chapters. At the same time out crew is very interested in all the character developing Sarene gets in her section. Finally, we're confronted with the age-old (ok, maybe not that old) question, would you rather be a Skaa or an Elantrian? Find out our answers on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Sarene attends a party in these chapters, and the Hrathen takes a walk. It's more fascinating than it sounds. Lots of little tidbits get dropped in these chapters that our crew wants to know more about. Sarene is going to teach the women how to fence? The Fjorden monasteries train secret assassins? Zapp Brannigan works for Iadon? And then it devolves into a mixture of references to DBZ and DBZ abridged. So ... yeah, that happened on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Hrathen is preaching and Raoden is on a bit of an adventure in these chapters. Meanwhile, the Sanderlanche crew is excited by how much information is being revealed. Some predigments are panning out and others have been shattered on the unforgiving shores of the plot. Beyond that, this installment is a big one for diversions, distractions, and deviations. Dac is back this week as we jump back into Elantris! We're starting to see the outline of a plan from each of our viewpoint characters in these chapters, and it's got the Sanderlanche crew really interested to see where it's all going. On top of that, some interesting revelations come unexpectedly out of a question from a listener's email this week. Everyone is excited to be back in the thick of things on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Well, we ran out of books we've already read on the show, and there's still one week before Dac and Jaymee return. What to do? How about we play a little game. The world of Sel and of Elantris in particular are building up. Our cast is loving Sarene. They're liking Raoden, and they're worried about Hrathen. It's way too soon for any solid guesses about where all of this is going, but that doesn't stop our cast from giving it a go and putting their all into predigments for you to be amused and/or shocked by. This week we start in on Elantris. Every is pretty pumped to be trying out something new, even if the various fantasy names Brandon came up with do cause some ... consternation? Yeah, sure, that's a word for it. Lots of exciting new stuff to explore in this whole new world, ending with some very deep predigments, considering how little the crew has to go on. Our time on Scadrial draws to a close this week, at least for now. It's bittersweet for some of the crew. On the one hand, we get to see our old friends again. On the other, Spook is king. Lots of weirdness this week, not the least of which is the IRE and what the heck is going on with any of that. There's cons being pulled and possibly a rave happening. We find out the secret identity of the sexy drifter, and everyone is thinking maybe there's something more to this guy than we thought before, but what could it be? Oh, and also Kelsier becomes a god. You know, no big. The big news, though, is that Joe finally gets to really delve into the mediocrity of Final Fantasy 9, a moment I know you've all been waiting for. Lot of chapters in this, the penultimate episode of the Mistborn era 1 trilogy. Vin's a god now. Whoda thunkit? Certainly not any of our crew. No one is quite sure what to expect next since, "main character becomes a god" wasn't on anybody's bingo card up to this point, and that's something of a game-changer. We're deep in the Sanderlanche now, and everyone is flailing a bit trying to figure out where it's going to put us down. It's a very exciting, confusing time on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Everyone is hyped by reading one of the coolest fights in the series, Vin vs more than a dozen inquisitors. Goradel dies, which is a bummer, but it pays off when Marsh gets his moment to shine. The Sanderlanche is in full swing now, and the whole crew is amazed that we're so close to the end, and no one can say how it will go. Long episode this week. There's just so much starting to happen. Vin and Yomen make friends (kinda?), Vin kills Marsh (briefly), and Ruin proves that, yes, he CAN, in fact, take control of armies of Koloss. That's the last time we ever doubt the word of the epigraph writer. We are rapidly approaching the end of this trilogy, and you can feel the excitement in the air on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In these chapters, things really start to heat up, sometimes quite literally. Spook has his heroic almost-death moment, and gets some begrudging respect from our crew. Sadly, we don't get TenSoon Kelsier vs Ruin Kelsier, which everyone was kind of pulling for. Meanwhile, elsewhere, everything else seems to be moving into position for the dominos to start falling over. Other than that, we've got some new members of the Misting Crew, Dac composes his own tombstone, and I announce exactly what we'll be reading when Hero of Ages wraps up. Very exciting week for The Sanderlanche!

Big week for emails. So stay tuned through the end for some interesting discussion that comes out of those. On the whole, though, our crew were big fans of these chapters, despite Spook/Beldre interactions making up most of 2 of the 4 chapters we read this week. Could this be a turning point for Sanderlanche/Spook relations? Only time will tell. The big news, though, is Preservation. He was the mist spirit all along? And he has a body? A now-dead body? A nice mix of perspectives in this week's chapters. I daresay, we're setting the stage for some Sanderlanche-ing. This week our crew is delighted to see TenSoon return, even if his chapter is largely telling us how terrible things have gotten. They like seeing Elend strike out on his own, even if his chapter is largely depressing introspection. And they love seeing Spook because it gives everyone an opportunity to rag on him some more. My favorite, on the other hand, was Vin's chapter with the banter. Maybe that's just me. Even better, though, is the part where someone gives me an excuse to bust out the statistics on what countries our listeners are from. This week the crew continues to be hard on Spook. I hear, you, audience. I know it's heartbreaking for some who love Spook, but, in this case at least, dude is being kind of a creeper. I think the criticism this time is fair ... well, mostly. Joe just hates him. So we can't expect much there. Other than that, we've got some really insightful predictions and, for some reason, a discussion of which instrument each person in the crew would play if they formed a band. Yeah, I don't know. I recorded it. I edited it. I still don't know how it happened. Enjoy!

In this week's episode we catch up again with TenSoon and our old pal Marsh... Not together. That would be a weird pairing. Still, nice to see old friends again. None of our podcast crew is particularly impressed with Elend's attempts at diplomacy this episode. On the other hand, opinions are a bit split on Elend and Vin's cute romantic moment. Also, Joe continues to have no respect for or interest in Spook whatsoever. I guess some things never change. All this and jelly beans on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

We're back from our break and only a little bit rusty. But we do get to talk about Vin attending her first ball since that time that she killed Shan Elarial, and my, oh my, how our little girl has grown up. We've made it to Fadrex city. What a trek, huh? Honestly, after 2 books cooped up in Luthadel, I think our Sanderlanche crew is just glad to be out and about breathing the clean, well, ash-filled, air of the empire. There's plots, plans, maybe even a scheme or two as Elend and co get ready to lay siege to Fadrex. Meanwhile, we get a flashback to the much-anticipated Spook origin story. Just like Solo: A Star Wars story, we're getting the answers to all those niggling questions you never cared enough to ask. Where is Spook from? What happened to his parents? And how did he get his name? ... No, not the name Spook. We know how he got that one. The other one, Lestibournes. Most importantly of all, how will these revelations affect the Spook Rap? In this episode Spook is not good at flirting. Also he is visited by the ghost of Kelsier, who we decide must be here to talk to him about copyright infringement. A survivor? There can be only one! We also find out that Sazed is a king or something? Maybe? King of the sheep? King of the trolls? A clandestine land found underneath his floorboards?  Our crew isn't sure what to do with that one exactly. The Kandra chapters are really holding the crew's attention at this point. TenSoon takes the stand in the trial of the century ... probably ... maybe ... On top of that, though, Joe has been putting a lot of thought into this book, like a lot, creating a web of possibilities, and not just because he's kind of drunk this episode. This week our hosts are still riding the high of a new book with all sorts of exciting things happening. Vin sits out these chapters entirely, and, surprisingly, our crew is kind of energized by that. Maybe it's the fact that Elend is finally acting like a king, or maybe it's the part where he makes a suicidal stroll through the koloss camp. Regardless, Dac, Jaymee and Joe are loving the Elend-heavy chapters. Who thought we'd ever say something like that after how they felt at the end of The Final Emprie, right? Be careful what you wish for. Our crew finally gets their long-awaited action scene, and it's ... it's a rough one. There's body parts exploding and Vin taking a beating. Our crew is really vibing with these chapters, despite the continued lack of action scenes. Don't get me wrong, Joe and Dac still don't love Cett, but our friends from Terris have finally started really digging into this research on the Deepness, and that's got everyone excited, not to mention our first Breeze POV. The sad part is, we're quickly running out of suspects for who the Kandra is. Could Joe have been right all along? Anything is possible on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this episode, we've got some meta discussions of the book and how we're feeling now that we're about halfway through. Jaymee has had enough of library book club scenes, and Joe and Dac have both already had enough of Cett, despite this being his first actual appearance. Then we get into some of the secret, hidden mysteries of the Kandra and get outraged that Vin doesn't care as much as we do. There are so many juicy secrets out there just beyond our reach, and our crew is starting to get tired of that too, on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

A deep discussion of The Deepness takes place in these chapters, and our newbies couldn't be happier about it. Who cares about who gets to be king when there's a mysterious (possibly tentacle-laden) monster out there waiting to destroy the world ... or something. You know, it's not entirely clear. In any case, that's followed up by the shocking and unexpected introduction of Cett himself. Now this is good television - err - book. Everyone was surprised by this twist, but only one of our hosts instantly shouts the equivalent of, "Off with his head!" Find out who the most bloodthirsty of the bunch is on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Vin and Elend go into the beast's lair, and we spend a decent amount of time realizing just how disgusting Straff Venture really is. I mean, we thought he was bad before, but that was peanuts to what we get to see from him this week. Our newbies are still looking for some action to kick off, but they keep getting politics instead. Ah well, with three armies hanging around and an anonymous allomancer hit squad in the wings, we're bound to get some good stuff at some point, right? In this episode, everyone but Tindwyl is happy to have Sazed back in town; no one but Breeze cares much for Allrianne; and each of our three newbies is ready for some action to kick off. Shockingly, no one was thrilled that we took a chapter off to go shopping. Go figure. This week Sazed is back, and trouble is following right on his heels, but the crew takes it better than any of us expected. We also get to meet Allrianne Cett, daughter of Ashweather Cett, one of the men currently besieging Luthadel. We don't trust her. Jaymee thinks she might even be a Kandra. Then again, we think that about nearly everyone at this point. Most of all, we're all delighted by Vin and OreSeur's heart to heart. These two crazy kids (well, one crazy kid and one crazy bone-eating monster blob dog, but that's a mouthful) might just make this thing work after all. The big question everyone is asking, though, is, this book is called The Well of Ascension; when is this going to turn into a buddy road trip movie where Vin and Sazed go find the well? When indeed. In this week's episode, there's a lot of bad going down. Straff Venture is ... well, horrible. I mean, there's not much more to say, but we do say a lot about how horrible he is. Then there's the Koloss who are ... also horrible but in other ways. We spend a pretty good amount of time being creeped out about them. And then Joe has a rant about Spook. In these chapters, Elend gets put down, which everyone loved, Sazed meets a crazy guy, which everyone is disturbed by, and Elend gets a makeover, which, oddly, is starting to bring Joe over into Camp Elend. Who woulda thunkit? The same old mysteries are still haunting us. For example, what is the Deepness? We've gotten through a book and a quarter now, and the question has chosen, very inconsiderately, to not answer itself, much to everyone's frustration (but particularly Dac; Jaymee almost seems happy just imagining a tentacle monster and calling it a day). Deep, completely irrelevant to anything questions. Really makes you think. Or maybe it doesn't. Whatever. The episode has all your favorites, discussion, theorizing, hating on Spook. In these chapters we get some political machinations, a new army, and a shocking number of skeletons in closets. Not the metaphorical kind. The kind that are made of bones and hanging out in closets for some reason. It seems like there's a new kandra in town, and Jaymee, Joe and Dac all have theories on who it might be. Dac, Joe and Jaymee continue to be bombarded by the new mysteries that this second book is unveiling during its opening chapters. One thing, at least, that puts them on more familiar ground is the opportunity to hate on Spook some more. So that's got to be comforting. But the deeper questions remain. What is the mist thingy? Who is the Watcher? What's up with Marsh? And did Sanderson really have Vin give the kandra a dog's body so that he could make a joke about the guy with the dog's body being her new dogsbody? We start in on the second book of our Sanderson journey this week with The Well of Ascension. Seemed like a good idea after finishing The Final Empire. It would have been an odd choice to jump to Warbreaker or something at this point, I think. Will our hosts be happy that Elend hasn't been deposed in the time between books? What will they make of The Watcher and the mysterious thing in the mists? Do they expect that Straff Venture will be getting his long-awaited Father of the Year trophy this book? In this episode everyone just goes off on Spook. I mean we give him a seriously hard time. After that, we talk about all the great character development that we're getting in these chapters, and Jaymee has a complete reversal on her feelings about Elend. Theories, suspicions, and insults are flying around, sometimes faster than I can keep up with them, on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In these chapters, Vin gets a lesson in bronze and Kelsier inspects the army. After really enjoying a deeper look into Vin's family history as well as Marsh's (and by extension Kelsier's), we get into some very serious talks about what Kelsier does while visiting the army. Has he gone too far? Or, and stick with me here, maybe Kelsier hasn't not gone too far enough. Give that a bit to sink in. It still won't mean anything.

In this episode, Vin attends her second ball and Kelsier has a night on the town. It's kind of like when other people have a night on the town, only with more corpses. Meanwhile, we talk about how open the Lord Ruler is to societal critiques, also possums, and finally Elend. Oh, this guy. Is Elend Venture a devious spy for the Lord Ruler or a hapless fool? Turns out 4 chapters makes for a pretty long episode. In this episode we talk about Vin and Kelsier's invasion of Kredik Shaw, and the near-disastrous results. We also get theories about what it will look like if Vin ever meets Reen again, and Joe has an issue with the robot from the 80s Ninja Turtles cartoon. Why? Vin gets to see Breeze in action, and then discovers that the Inquisitors may be back on her trail. Meanwhile we discuss the moral pitfalls of emotional Allomancy as well as the disturbing implications of Aang's unilateral decisions about ruling authorities in the world of Avatar the Last Airbender. Where did that come from? I'm actually still not 100% sure.

Mistwraiths, Terrismen, and haircuts, oh my. We try out a couple of new things on the show's format, and narrowly avoid getting distracted by Final Fantasy.

We slow down a bit as the crew fills out the details of their plan, Vin gets her first lesson, and Dac is sure volcanoes are going to be involved somewhere, somehow.

Everybody gets what they want as an Ocean's 11 chapter is followed by a straight-up murderthon.
