I'm Aisha Zaza and my purpose is to help others build better habits towards living their best and healthiest life. For the first 30 episodes of this podcast, you will be challenged to walk or run one mile a day while listening to the corresponding daily episode where we will discuss how mindset shifts can transform all aspects of life from health, fitness, relationships, business and well being. Why one mile? Because it's as simple to do as it is to not do, and therein lies the difference. We will dismantle the idea that to achieve goals you must take quantum leaps towards them and instead take small, consistent actions over time. I believe wholeheartedly that everything you need to reach the happiness and success you desire is already within you and through our time together you will be empowered to know this truth, too. It's time to take action towards your goals because if not now, when? Someday is not a day of the week and you were made for greatness. It will be a marathon, not a sprint - and together we will take it one step, one mile, one day at a time. Welcome to The Mindset Mile. You ready?

116. Optimizing Fertility, Hormones & Gut Health And The Negative Effects Of Processed Food & Oils With Nutritional Therapist Alussa Hustedt
Today we're talking all things fertility, hormones and gut health and the negative side effects birth control, processed food and oils have on our physical and mental health. If you have been looking for where to start to your holistic approach to healing your body from the inside out, then look no further than this conversation with Nutritional Therapist and Restorative Wellness Practitioner Alyssa Hustedt.Alyssa's Bio: Alyssa Hustedt is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Master Restorative Wellness Practitioner. Her own 8 year struggle with infertility propelled her into the nutrition space where she vowed to learn more about her body in the hopes of conceiving naturally or at minimum— preparing her body if she and her husband decided to proceed with medical intervention. After 2 years of functional testing, specific diets and lifestyle changes along with holistic nutritional protocols, she and her husband conceived naturally and have adopted a baby girl as well. Through her own experience, education, and helping others who were struggling to conceive, Fertility Wellness Co. was born. Alyssa desires to support as many couples as possible whether they are only beginning to think about having a baby or have been trying for many years. Alyssa does not believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to health and fertility wellness. Our bodies are uniquely different and should be treated as such in respect to picking a path toward preparing the body for conception. Her goal as a functional practitioner is to work with your specific bio-individual needs and uncover which areas of your health and hormones may need some extra support and TLC to prepare your body to be a safe place to conceive and grow a healthy baby. She also supports women through pregnancy and postpartum.Website: http://www.fertilitywellnessco.comInstagram: @alyssahustedtAlyssa's Book Recommendations:Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene BrightenBody Love by Kelly LeVequeJenny BlakeThis episode is brought to you by Jenny the Nutritionist. 113. Use Comparison To Your Advantage
As long as we are human we are going to compare ourselves. It’s a completely normal behavioral strategy where we seek to better understand our status. Unfortunately, when used the wrong and most common way, comparison can breed low self esteem but reapproaching how we use comparison can change our lives for the better. In this episode I'm going to teach you how to use comparison in a way that's healthy and beneficial instead of destructive and and life-sucking.BetterhelpThis episode is brought to you by Betterhelp. 87. Journal Prompts to Reflect on 2022
Use the prompts in this episode to reflect on 2022. Reflecting does not need to be reserved for big life events or lessons; when employed daily, weekly or monthly, we give ourselves the chance to notice our own behavior, thought patterns and can learn from our mistakes. It also gives us proof of all the amazing things going well. So what questions can we ask to make reflections most effective? In this episode we go over four groups of questions you can ask yourself for different reflecting purposes that will help you get to know yourself better and move forward into the new year with maximized perspective. Timestamps:

86. Overcome Feeling Discouraged
In this episode we talk about a nasty disease, it's called discouragement. It’s universal and attacks even those of us with naturally upbeat personalities. Discouragement ruins relationships, it ruins businesses, it ruins culture, it ruins progress, it makes parenting more difficult, it serves absolutely no good. And even more, discouragement always feels like it’s something happening to us instead of something we can control. It may sound cliche but key to overcoming discouragement is hope. But how do you build hope when it feels like there is none? I go over the seven ways to build your hope and take back control of your life by defeating discouragement. Timestamps:
[3:12] It's hard to be ambitious when we don't have the resources to be.
[5:49] Hope is the basis of everything - 7 tips to regain the hope.
[6:20] #1. Recharge your batteries.
[7:03] #2. Raise your expectations.
[7:56] #3. Refocus on the future.
[8:50] #4. Play to your strengths.
[9:36] #5. Refuse to go it alone.
[10:57] #6. Replace burnout with balance.
[11:50] #7. Play great defense.

85. How To Have A Healthy Relationship With Social Media
Whether you love it or hate it, social media is a part of our culture and lives and looks like it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. But even when some hate it, they still get drawn into the mindless scroll perpetuating thoughts of bitterness, jealousy, comparison and even depression. Though too much of anything isn't good for anyone, if you're going to partake in social media then you should do what you can to have a healthy relationship with it. In this episode I share several tips to use and partake in social media intentionally instead of passively to walk away feeling good about your relationship with it instead of letting it be an energy vampire. Timestamps:
[3:09] Why do we still use social media if we hate it?
[4:31] Try turning off notifications.
[7:53] What accounts do you follow? How do they make you feel?

84. Be In Pursuit Of Your Potential
You know one of the biggest reasons people sleep on taking risks, making change and stepping out of their comfort zone? It's because they feel like if they go for it then they need to win - in whatever way they define win. But your life is not defined solely by your success and wins, it's defined by going after it regardless of the outcome. What if I told you your potential is not so much about your productivity, but instead about an experience and about who you become in the process? This episode will give you a shift in perspective about the things you've been sleeping on because of the fear of low probability of success and instead empower you to go for it to be in pursuit of your potential instead of a win. Timestamps:
[0:48] Being in pursuit of your potential.
[2:20] One of the biggest reasons people don't step outside their comfort zones.

83. What's Your Because?
Often we are asked, "what is your why?" Finding a big enough reason behind why you choose to do something will help you tap into energy you didn't know you had, helps you see with clarity you did not have before and drives motivation by having a bigger purpose. But what I've found even more compelling to reveal is to discover what the "because" behind the why is. Oftentimes people turn their reason why they are doing something into the very reason why they cannot do it. Like starting a side business to create more time and financial freedom, but not wanting to sacrifice the time they do have to build said business. In this episode I explain why finding the because behind your why is so important and how it will drive you when the going gets tough. Timestamps:
[1:05] Your why and your because.
[2:41] Finding your because is even more compelling.
[5:03] Most people aren't willing to put in the time for their why.
[7:06] How to find your because.

81. Your Life Is Not A Dress Rehearsal
It is a natural and common practice to want to escape reality, especially when things feel hard, be it through impulse shopping, binge eating and drinking, or scrolling social media for 30 minutes. These temporary fixes delay things we don't want to feel or deal with, when the reality is that the only way out is through. Life and our day to day is not meant to just get through, wish away or treat like a training day for tomorrow. What makes life rich and meaningful is happening right now, at this very moment. This episode will help bring you back to the present moment and live every day with intention and purpose.Timestamps:

68. My Interview About Living a Fit Chick Lifestyle
This week’s episode is an interview I was invited to do on the Create Your Shape podcast with nutritionist Jenny Blake. Jenny and I had a great conversation about what it means to live a fit chick lifestyle. In short, what that means to me is leaving behind old habits and ways of thinking that no longer served my mental or physical wellbeing, the way I look at and think about food and making a healthy lifestyle a part of who I am instead of something I do or don’t do depending on the season of life. I think this conversation will really serve you if you struggle with oscillating between an on or off cycle with your nutrition and fitness but mostly I think it will help you adopt the mindset of personal growth and fit lifestyle being a lifelong journey, instead of short exhausting sprints. 61. Are You Using Fear to Protect Yourself?
Fear is the biggest thing that keeps people from pursuing many of the things they dream of doing in their life. And that's because dreaming about something bigger or better than what we have or who we are currently takes doing things we’ve never done before and our brains are hardwired to dislike uncertainty. So it uses fear as a mental shield to keep you from pursuing your ideas or big goals. Fear attacks ideas or thoughts that come into our brain that have the potential to leave us vulnerable, hurt or disappointed. In this episode we talk about how fear shows up in many ways that feel like a form of justified protection, but why you should take action anyway so you can have more, do more, be more and give more. 49. Do You Love Who You See Without a Filter?
In this episode I share some thoughts with the usage of social media filters and how I began to question my own use with them. As you may remember, filters once started as a much more animated and obvious thing - turning you into the Grinch during the holidays or adding heart eyes during Valentine's Day. But they've since evolved into filters that change the way people look in the most subtle and oftentimes, not subtle ways, that skew features and beauty we perceive as real. Filters used to be a thing that gave my confidence a little boost, but now I see them as something that actually chips away at it. Listen in to how I believe filters may be doing more harm than they are good.Resources:GoodrThis episode was brought to you by my favorite active sunglasses, Goodr. You would never know by his perfect-on-paper family life and background as a lifelong athlete, being named an All-American wrestler in high school, advancing to the University of Davis as a division one collegiate wrestler and graduating with a bachelor of science in sociology and organizational studies that Jeff struggled with an addiction to hardcore drugs and alcohol that could have changed the trajectory of his life forever. Jeff opens up about the struggles of going in and out of rehab through his 20s to how he eventually found his way out of a quicksand-like addiction. Jeff is now the general manager and co-owner of the world renown gym Fitness Quest 10 in San Diego, CA, has a beautiful family with his wife Sam and their son Knox. He is dedicated to his mission to change as many lives as possible through fitness, positivity, building community at his gym and sharing a story of hope for those who may find themselves struggling with the same darkness he left behind for 9 years and counting. 40. Three Methods to Calm Your Anxious Mind
Most people deal with anxiety at some level, which is sad because anxiety is a robber. It robs you of joy, it keeps you from being present and for some it’s crippling. And what’s crazy is that 85% our anxious thoughts never actually happen. Yet, it consumes so much of our brain space. So in this episode I talk about three methods I use and recommend to calm anxiety so you can be more present, make rational decisions and take action in the face of anxious thoughts.Timestamps:

37. Your Limiting Beliefs Are Not The Truth
We are very quick to question the truth, but rarely, if ever, do we question if what we believe about ourselves is true. We get so used to hearing our own limiting beliefs that we can’t even identify that they are only a thought and perceived barrier because after so long we trick our brains into thinking that they are true. But just because we've been telling ourselves the same story for a long time, doesn't mean we can't change the narrative. In this episode we fact check our own limiting beliefs and I give a helpful tool for you to use to separate the truth about yourself from the self limiting beliefs you've adopted. 36. The Power of Reflection
Reflecting is one of those things we hear successful people talk about but rarely actually take time to do ourselves. We are always one decision away from a completely different life and betting on yourself, even in the smallest of ways, gets you closer to where you want to be and it makes life rich. 34. How To Battle Discouragement
33. Maximize Your Work Productivity By Using This One Technique
We get used to thinking that when we are working that every minute needs to be maximized and not wasted with a break because there is always more that needs to get done. But the reality is, you’re never going to be done with work. We only know how to cram and try to push through work or learning walls. But at that point it usually costs three times as much time to get half as much done. Today we discuss the Pomodoro technique, which is beneficial for our memory, focus, ability to absorb information and keeps our mind engaged instead of wandering when we are learning or doing work tasks. 32. A New Perspective On Discipline
There is not a one size fits all on how to practice discipline but so often we feel like discipline will mean a life that is free of deviation and joy. An aversion to discipline can stem from a number of areas of life, for some, even as far back as young children where the repercussion was punishment based. Which is why a lot of us associate discipline with failure. In this episode we talk about how discipline is not in not quantified by how much you do, but rather, how much you do on purpose, and sometimes that can mean showing up to do something instead of nothing. 31. The Power Of Taking Ownership
In this episode we discuss how taking ownership instead of blaming gives you power to make positive change. When we don't take responsibility of our actions, where we're at in life and our unintentional wrong doings, we give all our power away because we cannot change what we are not claiming as our own. Taking ownership might not feel great right off the bat but in the long run it will make you feel empowered because when we learn from our behavior and experiences we give ourselves the opportunity to experience better outcomes.GoodrThis episode was brought to you by my favorite active sunglasses, Goodr. Do you often think about or respond to things with the thought, "I wish I had the time to do that," or "Maybe someday I'll..."? Have you ever actually found more time? Until something becomes a real priority I can assure you you will not find time for it because we don’t manage time, we manage ourselves. We break down the total hours in a week and add account for every hour that is taken up by things we do regularly to find that there's a surprising amount of time left over. Avoiding any emotion only makes it worse to feel that emotion because when we face it, we end up trying to manage it instead of just feel it. The problem isn’t feeling bad, the problem comes when we indulge in bad feelings and use them to justify our actions. In this episode we talk about that’s being ok with and even becoming good at experiencing negative emotions. 18. Abundant Mindset vs. Scarcity Mindset
Contrary to how it may seem, living with an abundant mindset is a choice. When you make it a point to think abundantly you feel happier, more grateful, curious, creative and ready to take action because you believe that opportunities in life and business are limitless. Whereas, if you have a scarcity mentality you live in a state of fear or worry that there is not enough time, not enough money, only a certain amount of space for people to be successful and not enough energy and resources to go around. In this episode we will discuss three ways that will help you think abundantly and to believe that there is more of everything out there for you to live the life you desire.

17. You Are Not Your Negative Thoughts
Most people live within the restrictions of their mind because they operate under the assumption that their negative thoughts about themselves are true and that that’s who they are. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy because the more you believe your limiting and negative thoughts the less likely you’ll be to take action on something you desire doing. In this episode we talk about how to retrain our brains to think positively about ourselves by asking positive questions of it. Managing your mind and steering it in the direction of what you want it to think will ultimately determine how you feel and is the secret to living a happy life.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

16. Control The Controllable And Let The Rest Go
If you take a step back and look at all the things we worry about and are told to worry about, you'll realize how much extra weight and stress we are unnecessarily carrying around. It's not the actual events that happen to us that cause our suffering but rather, our resistance and deep desire to change events that we have zero control over that does. In this episode we discuss how to shift your attention from thoughts that are causing you worry and stress to the things you actually do have control over. Learning to control what is in our control and letting the rest go is the key to a healthier and happier life.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

15. The Answer Is Always No Until You Ask
So many people hold back from going after something they want because they’ve made the decision that the outcome will result in a no before they even ask. Oftentimes we think we are protecting ourselves from feeling let down by just sparing the ask but the only thing that guarantees is that we will not get what we are afraid we won’t get. In this episode we take a look at what some of the best case scenarios are of things you may be afraid to ask for. What would like look like or how would you feel if the answer to something you're afraid of asking for was yes? Would your relationship change for the better? Would your business grow? Would you open yourself up to more opportunities? My guess is yes. You'll be empowered to get your ask in gear and know that there's nothing to be afraid of in hearing no. 13. How To Stop Procrastinating
As humans, we naturally put off things we don't want to do and often blame it on not being motivated. The problem with leaving things up to motivation is that it's fleeting and we need to get into the habit of doing things even when we don't want to do them. Procrastination is a bad habit that breeds stress, anxiety and keeps you from doing extraordinary things. In this episode I talk about The Five Second rule and how it will help you take control of your brain when it talks you out of doing things you need or want to do. And if you're a self-proclaimed perfectionist, we take a look at how perfectionism is a form of procrastination that is holding you back more than it may be serving you.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

11. Love Yourself Unconditionally
If you feel like you can't love yourself here's why: self love is not a state of feeling good. It’s a common thing to say or feel that even when we don’t necessarily like our significant other, we still love them, right? If we have the ability to love others unconditionally then we have the ability to love ourselves unconditionally, too. In this episode we talk about how loving ourselves is not as hard as we make it out to be. We learn let go of the expectation that if we work on ourselves enough that it will mean we won’t struggle anymore. It’s not about not struggling, it’s about loving ourselves through the process regardless. You'll be empowered to take responsibility for where you're at right now, decide you are worthy of self love and move forward thriving. 10. Why Self Care Is Import And Defining What It Means To You
We are living in the self care era, where brands, people, and consumerism are coming from every angle to make you feel and believe as though in order to be happy you need to have a certain product or experience. It's not about never buying yourself something nice or eating what you want to eat, but when these things are a ritual disguised as self care, all you begin to live for is a temporary sense of fulfillment until the next shiny thing comes around. In this episode we discuss how to really identify ways in which you feel happy, fulfilled and reset so that you can show up as your best self in all areas of your life. 9. What You Think About You Bring About
This episode is all about how where your attention goes, energy flows. I give you a few tangible ways to start converting your thoughts to becoming opportunity and success magnets. In order to create a life of abundance, we must start thinking about it first. You may think by thinking about things you don't want to happen or create is enough but but actually, that only attracts more of what we don't want. Instead, we discuss how thinking about what we DO want to create leaves us open to receiving positive energy and opportunities to do so. 8. THIS Shift in Exercise Will Create Lasting Results
Have you ever gotten to a goal weight or size and still focused on how you could still stand to lose a few more pounds? That's because happiness will never be found in a size or number on the scale. In this episode we discuss how to break the cycle of yo-yo dieting and exercising to be in shape for vacations or certain life events and instead focus on how to be in shape for life. When you become addicted to how you feel versus how you look, there won’t be anything sexier about you and the physique you desire will follow.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

7. There Is No Failing, Only Learning
Failing is to be expected, letting it stop you is optional. So many people give into the feeling of failure and make it mean that they are not good enough or won't ever reach goals they set. In this episode we talk about how we usually use an arbitrary standard to measure our successes and failures, when in reality, we are the only ones who can deem anything in our lives as a failure. We'll learn to look at a setback as a learning experience and how to apply the things we learn to our next opportunities to build and grow.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

6. How Practicing Gratitude Daily Will Change Your Life
Practicing daily gratitude will change your life because it will change your perspective, and your perspective is your reality. The difference between being actively grateful versus being numbly aware of our privileges and luxuries is wildly different. In this episode we will discuss how practicing daily gratitude will change how you react to tribulations over time because it becomes a part of your subconscious. When we begin to observe the things that make our lives convenient and rich on a daily basis will we minimize and eliminate room to be stressed, anxious, angry, sad and short tempered.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

5. Other People's Opinions Of You Mean Nothing
People are going to have an opinion of us no matter what we do, but the thing that holds us back from taking action is what we make their opinion mean to us. Opinions are not truth and when we allow space for other people to be opinionated without taking it personal, then we can flourish despite them. In this episode I go over three main points as to how to move past fear of what other people think about us.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

4. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
Stop letting comparison be the thief of your joy. We've done it our whole lives but in the age of social media, comparison has become something we do nearly around the clock. We'll discuss how to let comparison inspire and drive you but not to let it be an indicator of your worth or allow you to believe that you can't become better. We talk about how to identify your core values so you don't unintentionally leave them up for others to decide for you by constantly watching what makes them happy and feeling like that’s what you need to be happy, too.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

3. Commit To The Process, Not The Results
In this episode we talk about how to becoming obsessed with the process instead of the outcome will lead you to the success or goal you're looking to achieve. Being attached to the outcome leaves us feeling discouraged when results don't show up on our expected timeline. Discouragement leads us to take less action which ultimately ensures we will not get the results we want. We'll learn how to create meaningful and lasting results by ditching the idea that there's a shortcut and instead, learn to fall in love with the process and who we become along the way.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

2. How To Stop Believing Your Fears
In this episode we talk about how to overcome fear by realizing that the only thing it is is false evidence appearing real. It's ultimately up to us whether we choose to believe in our fears, or alternatively, choose to believe outcomes of future events will turn out positive. Our thoughts keep us so small because fear hates the unknown and will talk us out of pursuing great things. I give some real life examples of how fear holds people back from doing even the smallest things, but after overcoming it the results outweigh the fear tenfold. You'll become empowered to know that it's not about becoming fearless, but that you feel fear and take action anyway.DOWNLOAD MY FREE MINDSET MILE JOURNAL: http://eepurl.com/gOBY9zCONNECT WITH ME ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/aishazaza/THE MINDSET MILE WEBSITE: https://www.themindsetmile.com/

1. Why The Mindset Mile Will Change You
In this episode we discuss how making change within ourselves ultimately changes the world for the better. It's easy to look around and see other living happy, successful lives and assume it came easily and naturally for them but the truth is, behind every success and mountaintop moment is a lot of gritty, messy, consistent action. Assuming you're not capable of the same type of happiness and success only robs you from even trying, which is why we are building the habit of walking or running a mile a day and journaling. Both of which embody what it looks like to take small, consistent action over time to build the happiness and success you desire.
