How The Epstein-Barr Virus Could Be Slowing Down Your Healing Journey and What To Do About It with Dr. Kinney

Is the Epstein-Barr virus impacting your ability to heal? Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions about this virus. This is something I talk about a lot in my day-to-day while working with my patients, so in this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I’m diving into the nitty gritty of what the Epstein-Barr virus is, what it looks like, what symptoms to watch for, how we test for it, and treatment options as well. I work with a lot of hormonal imbalances, adrenal fatigue, and thyroid issues. A big part of being a naturopathic doctor is trying to get to the root cause of illnesses. After digging around,  I found that many of my patients had the Epstein-Barr virus in an active state. The problem is, if your body is dealing with that, it’s not going to have any energy to fix your hormones, deal with the thyroid, or do anything else. If the body is really busy trying to get rid of something that shouldn't be living there, it's not going to have cellular energy to do a lot of other things. That being said, it’s important to stay on top of this virus when it flares up. Tune in to learn more about what you need to know about the Epstein-Barr virus while on your healing journey. Show notes available at www.drerinkinney.com/106I would love to connect on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrKinneyND and Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drkinney!

92: Why Nourishing Your Body With Whole Foods Is Crucial for Your Health & Well-Being with Morgan Mills

Are you feeling stuck when it comes to your health journey?  A mistake that a lot of women make when it comes to their health is restricting their calories too much, which inevitably leads to overeating. 91: Treating Osteoporosis From a Naturopathic Point of View with Dr. Kinney

Unfortunately, a lot of people struggle with osteoporosis and osteopenia which means I get a lot of questions about them, so in this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I’m diving into the topic to tell you what you need to know about this disease from a naturopathic point of view and the connection between it and your gut health.  The first thing that you have to understand about osteoporosis is that the bones are living, breathing parts of our body that are constantly changing. Their main purpose is to store calcium, so if your body is not getting enough calcium from your diet or your gut, it’s going to pull it from your bones.  As we age, if we don’t have proper absorption of calcium in the stomach, osteoporosis or osteopenia can develop. So how do we fix it? There are a number of things we look at when it comes to treating this condition. We not only look at your calcium absorption levels, but we also look at multiple other factors that could affect your ability to absorb calcium.  The good news is that there are things you can do to treat osteoporosis. Granted, they do take a longer time to take effect. It can sometimes take as long as two years. That’s why it’s so important to be consistent with your treatment.  Remember, if you’re suffering from osteoporosis, your body is actually doing what it can to protect you. Have you heard of a female-focused approach to healing?    It’s no secret that women see the world and react to the world differently than men do. We know it instinctively. 85: How Changing Your Mindset Can Change Your Health with Dr. Kinney

Are you aware of the power of a positive mindset?    This can influence so many things. Whether you are trying to lose weight, heal from a chronic condition, gain more energy, or any other change to your physical body—your mindset is the number one most important thing that you can change.   In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I am diving deeper into why your mindset matters so much when it comes to health and healing.    This is something that so many of my patients get stuck on. They end up in a negative thought loop that they just can’t get out of. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between what is happening in real life and what is just your thoughts. This means you can actually change your body by changing the way you think about things.    Positive vibes are a real thing! They actually do have a major impact on your body. This applies to the way that you talk to yourself and the way that others talk to you, whether that be a friend, coworker, family member, or spouse. Words are powerful.    You can still be in the reality of what is going on with your health while also focusing on the small wins and positive things that keep you in a positive mindset. When you stay in that energy, that’s when change can occur.    Tune in to learn more about how the law of attraction and a positive mindset can drastically improve your overall health.    Show notes available at www.drerinkinney.com/85   Resources Mentioned:  Read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne: https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Rhonda-Byrne/dp/1582701709 I would love to connect on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrKinneyND I would love to connect on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drkinney

Many women face a lot of lingering issues after having a baby.    They face back pain, diastasis recti, pelvic floor issues, and so much more. Unfortunately, most don’t get the treatment they need because the medical focus usually shifts to the baby after birth.   In today’s episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Kelsey Vagnoni to talk about how physical therapy can make a huge difference for postpartum moms.    Kelsey Vagnoni earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware in 2007.  Since that time, she has taken over 400 hours of additional hands-on training to improve her manual therapy skills.  She spent 9 years in outpatient orthopedics as a spine and pelvic specialist before starting her own business.   She became a mother in 2015.  While she was recovering from a very traumatic birth, she realized physical therapy had a much-needed place in postpartum recovery.  Why is physical therapy routine for a sprained ankle but not after childbirth?     She started Personalized Physical Therapy in 2016 with a goal to provide high-quality, accessible care to mothers and change the way we think about physical therapy. Well respected by her peers and beloved by her patients, Dr. Cohen, most importantly, is a clinician. She is an internal medicine doctor who has spent her career focusing on integrative medicine. She has helped thousands of patients find relief from a variety of health problems utilizing the principles of integrative and functional medicine.   She practices with an emphasis on the individual, understanding that no two patients are alike. She focuses on nutrition and limits her patients’ reliance on prescription medications by using diet, lifestyle changes, and nutritional supplementation.     To heal chronic issues, you have to get back to the basics. 74: How to Rewire Your Brain and Heal Your Body Using Bio Emotional Healing® with Ashleigh Di Lello

Are you familiar with the mind-body connection?  When your body is facing a lot of stressors, it can be easy to feel stuck. This is because your brain is trying to protect you so much that you can’t get out of a fight or flight response in order to heal, so sometimes it all comes down to getting your brain on board. In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Ashleigh Di Lello, who has a remarkable story. She lived on the verge of death for 4 years and battled chronic pain before overcoming what everyone thought she couldn’t. She did this by using the power of the mind-body connection.  Ashleigh Di Lello is the founder & creator of Bio Emotional Healing®, a revolutionary method based in neuroscience that helps her clients around the world finally break free from chronic pain, limiting beliefs, behaviors, and emotions to thrive in their lives! Despite being told by doctors she wouldn't live past her teenage years, she refused to give up and discovered the secret to rewiring the mind-body connection. She became an elite athlete, TV & Broadway star, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. In order to calm down and heal, your brain has to feel safe. It is biologically hardwired to resist change, so doing too much at once can easily overwhelm it.
