125. Nobody is "KILLING IT" All the Time
Maybe we don’t have to be “killing it” in all areas of our life all the time. Maybe it’s not even possible. Could it be that “killing it” isn’t the standard? Perhaps there are seasons of sowing, seasons of growing, seasons of harvest, and seasons of rest. Perhaps those “seasons” can even happen weekly. Some things are a cycle (laundry). Some things are interruptions (sickness). Our worth and position in Jesus doesn’t rise and fall with the seasonal or cyclical or interruption things.
We need to let ourselves off the hook of “killing it” and just live.

86. Creating Light and Joy in a Dark and Dreary Winter
It’s winter right now in the northern hemisphere, and it can feel like the dark and cold is overwhelming and never ending. As someone who lives in the northern United States, I have definitely done my share of complaining about winter weather and darkness. To be honest, I kind of made myself miserable, just trying to grit my teeth and make it through the dark days until the time changed and the days lengthened.
Now I have learned to appreciate and even enjoy winter! In today’s episode, I’m sharing my change of heart and attitude, and giving you some ideas to help bring light and joy to yourself and your family even in the midst of darkness and cold.

Have you ever taken a moment to consider the world-changing potential of your child? God has put a gift and calling on every one of our lives--our children included! Very often in Scripture we see that when society has a problem, God sends a baby with a calling to change or fix it. He has put our little ones in our particular families for a reason, and we have the ability to raise them to impact the world for the Kingdom of God.

“You have to have your own life apart from your kids”
“Being a mom is what you do, not who you are.”
We’ve all heard these and similar phrases over and over on social media and from all kinds of people. Sadly, it’s in our modern culture to value independence and personal freedom over motherhood. We idolize the “maiden” and devalue the “mother”.
I want to propose to you today that God has a better way.

How to pray for yourself and others
Colossians 1:9-12, ESV
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;
giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Today I'm answering a question from Sarah: How do you handle a kid who says that everything at most meals is “yucky” and “gross” and won’t try it?

Have you ever noticed how wildly conflicting parenting advice can be? If you’ve read or listened to anything parenting-related for more than 10 minutes, you’ve probably heard conflicting ideas, and have felt a bit confused. But there is a solution!
In my years of mothering, I have gotten a lot of help from wise older women, and from books, BUT they haven’t always been right at any given time. However, I want to share with you today a foolproof, never-fails helper that we all have access to if we are Believers in Jesus Christ: The Holy Spirit.
Join me today as we discuss how we can hear the Holy Spirit, and learn to listen and apply what He is saying in our practical lives as mothers. You’ll hear a funny story about potty training, and how tickles and squeeze hugs saved the day not long ago.
I answer the question “How have you gotten comfortable in who you are as a mom, which might be different than others?”

3. Don't be a Grace-Hoarder
Did you ever have something you scrimped and saved because there wasn’t very much of it, and you were pretty sure that if you ran out you wouldn’t get any more?
Do we treat the unfathomable, immeasurable, powerful grace of God like a commodity that is limited and needs to be rationed? The truth is, God doesn’t ration His gift of grace—He is not going to run out!

2. The Little Things Matter
The seemingly basic, everyday things that we do, like washing little faces, correcting behavior, and laughing at dumb jokes, MATTER. In this episode we will learn that the little things we do for the littlest and the least ones, we are actually doing for Jesus.
It’s easy to overlook things we are doing as unimportant or insignificant, but to our children and to the Lord, there is nothing too small to be precious.
What does God think about you giving your life for your family?

1. This is Holy Work
Do you ever feel like what you’re doing doesn’t matter? Does is ever seem like your everyday life is insignificant? In this episode you will be encouraged that it all DOES matter—very much! In fact, if you are a mother, you are called and anointed for this work, and it is holy. Our normal, everyday mothering has purpose, and when we believe the truth that it is holy because God has called us to it, we get to tap into the fulness of the Spirit of God that enables us to do our work and do it well.
