Ep. 190 - 24/7 Family Worship | Genesis 18:16-33 & Exodus 32:11-14 | Joe Stout

God has made even the least of His elect greater than John the Baptist. And why are we considered greater? The work of Jesus Christ has given all whom He has called access to God. It is for this reason that we should rightly strive to cultivate worship within our homes through the a mind, soul, and strength attitude of worship everything that we do. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia, WA. Ep. 189 - Romans 5:20-6:14 | Parenting Teenagers in the Promises of God | Dave Hatcher

What is the second greatest commandement, parents? To love your neighbor as yourself. And who is your neighbor? The answer is the teenager in your home who often appears to be less lovable than when he was a cute little toddler. The first neighbor that you are loving is the one that is in your home, and that is often the hardest one. That is your flesh - you need to deal with your flesh. God says to love your neighbor. As you teach them that love, as you manifest that grace that God has poured into your life, they are going to be catching it.

Ep. 188 - Proverbs 11:22-31 | The Generous Marriage | Aaron Ventura

God wants you to be happy. God wants you to possess a joy that no-one and no-thing can take from you (John 16:22). And that indestructible gladness and joy is found exclusively in God. It says in Psalm 43:4, “I will go unto the altar of God, Unto God my exceeding joy.” The only way to participate in God’s superabundant and overflowing joy, is to first participate in God’s goodness and love. To become like the most blessed and happy God, you must acquire a generous soul, you must be willing as the Apostle Paul says, “to spend and be spent” for your wife, for your children, for your people, for your God. For this is what God has done for us. He has given Himself, He has given His Son, He is the very Gift and Love that our hearts yearn for, and as St. Augustine said, our heart is restless O God, until it finds its rest in thee. May you know this peace, love, and joy in your marriage.

Ep. 187 - Hebrews 12:1-14 | On Church Discipline | Aaron Ventura

The test for all of us is: Do you trust God’s Word and that His ways are better and more just than your ways? Do you trust the Lord Jesus to use this process to purify His Bride and glorify His Name? Do you fear the Holy Ghost and His power among us? When Ananias and Sapphira dropped dead for lying to the Holy Spirit, it says in Acts 5, “And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things… And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.”Discipline is how God grows His church. It is how our Father raises us up from foolish children into wise kings and queens. So trust your Father, who loves you and knows what is best. Ep. 186 - Mark 12:28-44 | David's Lord | Aaron Ventura

Jesus Christ offered Himself on the cross for the life of the world. He loved His Father, and He loved you, even unto death. And so what is two mites, or what is all your possessions, compared to so great a love? Become like Abraham, become like the poor widow, and choose God as your shield and as your exceedingly great reward, for that is a reward that can never be taken from you. Ep 185 - As Knowledge and Love | Wednesday Night Service - Aaron Ventura

Tonight, I am finally going to tell you the true and actual way that God is present inside the believer. So we are not talking about God’s common presence (as efficient cause) in that He makes us to live and move and have our being, we are talking now about God’s special presence in the saints by grace. Ep. 184 - Mark 12:18-27 | Because Ye Know Not the Scriptures | Aaron Ventura

Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.”Our land is filled with hopeless people who think they can treat a sickness of the heart, a sickness of the soul, with medication, with prescription drugs, with surgery, with money, with things that promise to make us happy but cannot actually touch that spiritual part of us that needs healing.Well Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life. And it is He alone who can touch our soul and heal us. Only the God who never changes and who is infinitely happy in Himself can give us a new heart, with new desires, that shall be fulfilled and make us into trees of life. Ep. 183 - Proverbs 16:2-9 | State of the Church 2024 | Aaron Ventura

I don’t know about you, but I do not expect 2024 to be a peaceful year in our nation. Primarily because there can be no peace until all our ways please the Lord. So while I do not expect much political peace, and much of that is outside my control, I do intend to pursue peace with God and peace in the church, by seeking to please Him, come what may. And it is that peace that I invite you all to zealously pursue as well, so that God will make even our enemies to be at peace with us. Ep. 181 - Mark 12:13-17 | Render to Caesar | Aaron Ventura

Jesus Christ suffered and died and rose again, so that the image of God in you, could be renewed and transformed into the image of Christ. As Paul says in Romans 8:28-29, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son…”The life of a Christian, whether under Caesar or under any other authority, is one in which if you love God, He will make all things conspire for your good. And what is that good? That you are conformed into the image of Christ. There is no higher good or higher reward than to know God and be made more like Him. So render to your Creator the life He has given, and He will give it back to you immortal and resurrected and far more glorious than before. Ep. 180 - Mark 12:1-12 | The Lord of the Vineyard | Aaron Ventura

Imagine you owned a property on the other side of the country. And you hired someone to manage it for you, and had not received a single dollar of rent money in 15 years. You had sent letters, you had sent employees to go and collect what was owed to you. But instead the manager you hired killed those employees of yours and is now claiming your property as his own. How would you feel? What would you do? First of all, none of us is that patient. None of us would allow 15 years to go by without getting paid from our property. Our patience would have been spent after the first year we were not paid and after the first servant got killed. And the last thing we would do is send what is most precious to us, our own child, to go and collect what is owed from such a wicked manager. And yet, this is what God has done for the human race. He has been exceedingly and painfully patient with us and our sins. When he tells us his name, He calls himself “slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Ps.103:8). How many years have you not given to God the fruit that He deserves? How long will you go on sowing to your flesh and reaping corruption? God sent Christ to give you a fresh start. So take it! Receive forgiveness. Repent and keep covenant. If you do this, you will be saved. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep. 179 - Christmas Eve Homily | The Fourfold Advent of Our Lord | Aaron Ventura

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God? Do you receive from Him forgiveness for your sins? Do you love Him and embrace Him as your ruler, king, and master? If so, then the final coming of Christ, will be your victory. It will be the day of your resurrection unto glory, it will be a day of crowning, and entrance into an ever-increasing enjoyment of His kingdom. But if you refuse this Christ, if you do not repent of your sins. Then this life is as close to heaven as you’ll ever get. And that’s pretty sad. So do not choose the lake of fire, do not choose the second death. Choose Christ today, and know that this time when he comes, he will not keep silent. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep. 178 - John 1:1-5, 14 | The Christ of Christmas | Aaron Ventura

Peter says in Acts 4:12, that there is no other name under heaven but Jesus Christ of Nazareth by which we must be saved. And what we learn from John’s gospel, what we learn from church history, is that it really matters what you mean by the name Jesus Christ. Even Arius said that “Jesus Christ is Lord,” but he meant something false by it, and so it is who do you say that Jesus Christ is? Confess He is God, Confess He is fully man, and confess that He is one divine person. For there is no other Christ but this, than can save you. Ep. 177 - Isaiah 52:2-5 | We Didn't See That Coming | Les Doyle

Isaiah 52:2-5 "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,And as a root out of a dry ground:He hath no form nor comeliness; And when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men;A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:And we hid as it were our faces from him;He was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs,And carried our sorrows:Yet we did esteem him stricken,Smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities:The chastisement of our peace was upon him;And with his stripes we are healed." Ep 175 - Mark 11:27-33 | By What Authority? | Aaron Ventura

Why did Jesus suffer and die? Because he wants all of you.Why does he call us to repent of our sins? Because he wants you to be truly happy and at peace with Him.The absolute authority of Jesus Christ is the greatest news in the world. Because in Christ, perfect love and perfect goodness is married with perfect power. And that means, God’s authority in your life is unbreakably and infallibly good for you. There is no room that if you let Him into, that he will not renovate and cleanse and make better than before. It might be embarrassing to let him see what’s inside, but He is the one who already knows. So drop the front. Stop lying. Don’t double down like the Pharisees did. Open the door, and let Christ in. Ep 174 - Mark 11:12-26 | The Parable of the Fig Tree | Aaron Ventura

Jesus is zealous for the purity of his bride. He wants you to be spotless and without blemish. He wants you to be fruitful and to bear fruit that remains. And the only way this can happen is if you seek forgiveness for your sins, and you forgive those who have sinned against you. That is how you become a Christian and that is how you stay a Christian. It’s really that simple. So don’t be all leaves and no fruit, lest you dry up and whither. Come to Christ, and He will make you alive. Ep 173 - Mark 11:1-11 | The Sunday Before the World was Reborn | Aaron Ventura

Every Lord’s Day, we enter God’s House, and in worship He enters us. And when we receive His Spirit, and His Word searches us out, we are convicted, we are comforted, we have our inward thoughts and intents of our heart discerned. And all this King Jesus does so that when he does come in final judgment, we can count that day a day of glory and vindication, and not a day of fear and condemnation. So cast yourself upon this merciful and humble king, cry Hosanna, and he will answer. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep. 167 - Wednesday Night Service | Lesson 2: A Theology of God’s Presence (The Architecture of Reality: Sacred Time & Sacred Place in Holy Scripture)

Upon further reflection, we discover that God’s presence in the tabernacle/temple is a sign of God’s future presence in Christ (the Incarnation) AND God’s special presence by grace in believers (our union with Christ). And it is this insight which we must keep before us as we meditate on these structures. There is a two-fold signification in these structures, they are shadows of the substance that is Christ and The Church. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 166 - 1 Corinthians 7:8-24 | On Divorce & Remarriage | Aaron Ventura

"The story of Scripture is that of God marrying a people, they commit adultery, he divorces them, and then he dies to forgive their sins. Christ died to make an adulterous and divorced people into a holy and spotless bride. And if Christ has done this for you, he can certainly work for good whatever sinful situation you are entangled in. Jesus is the only hope for our marriages, and he is the only hope for those who are divorced, or widowed, or unmarried. Jesus is the God of hope. As Paul says in Romans 15:13, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” To that we say, “Amen and Amen.” Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 165 - Mark 10:1-12 | On Adultery & Divorce | Aaron Ventura

According to the 2020 US Census, 23% of children in the United States live in a single-parent household. That 23%, which represents 18.5 million children (for reference the total population of Washington State is just 7.7 million) is higher than any other nation in the world. The UK is a close second to us at 21%, and the world average is way down at 7%. So in America right now, almost 1 out of every 4 children is growing up without both father and mother in the home. Ep 164 - Wednesday Night Service | The Architecture of Reality - Sacred Time and Sacred Place in Holy Scripture | Aaron Ventura

The Architecture of Reality: Sacred Time & Sacred Place in Holy Scripture Wednesday Night Service Lesson 1 – Introduction This evening I want to begin a new series with you that I have entitled, The Architecture of Reality: Sacred Time & Sacred Place in Holy Scripture. The goal or final cause of this series is twofold: I want you to become familiar with some of the most important symbols in the Bible, and I want you to understand what those signs/symbols signify. To not just stop and look at the sign itself, but to see through the sign into the reality that God intends. As an aside, learning to do this is an exercise in how to read Holy Scripture, wherein God not only makes words to signify things, but things to signify other things. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 161 - Mark 9:14-29 | Help My Unbelief | Aaron Ventura

"Jesus could have left you in your sins. He could have left you wallowing in the ground, foaming at the mouth, suffering the just penalty for your unfaithfulness. And yet, because of his great love and compassion, He chooses to undergo a voluntary fast, a fast fromthe very life that emanates from him. Jesus voluntarily dies on the cross, he lays his life down, and he did this because he wants something greater and more glorious. He wants you.Jesus wants to bring you home to His Father’s house, where there is no more pain, no more suffering, and joy everlasting. Jesus wants to give you eternal life.So believe in Him, and ask him to help your unbelief." Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 160 - Mark 9:1-13 | The Transfiguration | Aaron Ventura

It says in 1 John 3:2-3, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” The gospels give us the transfiguration of Jesus, to show us the glory that is to come. And although we do not see it now with our mortal eyes, we hope for it by faith, and in the meantime, John says, whoever has this hope in Him, purifies himself, just as He is pure. So behold the purity of the Lord Jesus. And cast aside your filth, your sin, the dirt that clings so closely. Put on the garments of the Lord Jesus, that you might share in his righteousness. This is what the death and resurrection of Christ accomplishes for us. So look to him in hope. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 159 - Mark 8:34-38 | The Price of Your Soul | Aaron Ventura

And so the invitation to deny yourself and follow Jesus, is an invitation to take up the most shameful sign there is, the sign of the cross. And the promise of the gospel is that if we are unashamed of the cross, unashamed of being identified with Christ and His Word, then we will win for ourselves, glory, honor, and immortality.God will turn your shame into a more glorious resurrection than you can possibly imagine. The cross is the only tree of righteousness, and if you are planted with the Lord, united in His death, then you will be glorified with Him. Ep 158 - Mark 8:22-33 | Men Like Trees | Aaron Ventura

Sin is always shortsighted. The devil always tries to make obedience to God seem impossible and unsavory, and the reward of obedience hardly worth it. But what Jesus comes to reveal in the gospel is that there is no other way to salvation, no other way to happiness, no other way to the Father’s House, except through Him. Jesus is the way of the Lord, and the pain and suffering and cross of this life, is in the Apostle’s words, “not worth comparing to the glory that is to come…the glory that is to be revealed in us” (2 Cor. 4:17, Romans 8:18). That is the eternal glory we must fix our eyes upon. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 157 - Mark 8:1-21 | A Sign from Heaven | Aaron Ventura

Jesus is that one loaf. He is the bread. He is the multiplier of bread. He is the Creator of bread. And if Jesus is in the boat with us, if the leaven of Christ (the gospel) is in our hearts, then we have food for eternal life.So repent of your unbelief, seek not a sign from heaven, for the sign of salvation has already been given, Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. Ep 156 - Mark 7:14-37 | Bread for Dogs | Aaron Ventura

Jesus is the God who comes to show us the way of holiness. And if we would be holy as he is holy, then we must observe his teaching in this gospel: First own up to where evil truly comes from, it comes from within. We must stop blaming other people, we must stop blaming our circumstances, we must stop making excuses for our sins. Second, we must humble ourselves like the Syrophoenician woman, we must be willing to get on the ground and wrestle with God for his blessing. And Third, we must be willing to have Jesus make us uncomfortable so that he can remake us, poke open our ears, spit, and touch our tongue. All these things He must do, if we would become servants of The Master, and sons of the Most High King. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 154 - Mark 6:45 - 7:13 | Secular Pharisees | Aaron Ventura

If you don’t want to be ruled by Pharisees, crucify the Pharisee in your own heart. It’s not hard to spot a Pharisee out there, it is very hard to kill the Pharisee in here. But this is what Christ calls us to do. Our old man deserves to die. All of us have broken all of the commandments. And this is exactly why God came to earth in Jesus Christ. This is why Jesus is walking on water, healing the sick, and arguing with Pharisees. It is because he loves them. Jesus loves his hard-hearted disciples, and eventually he will open their eyes. Jesus loves the crowds coming to him for healing like sheep without a shepherd, and eventually he will save their souls. Jesus loves even the Pharisees, and he is going to take their best and brightest, a man named Saul of Tarsus, and turn him into an Apostle. So while it may seem bleak out there (and it really is) and wicked in here (which all of us must fight against), Jesus has the power to make us actually holy, actually righteous, and that is what his death and resurrection offers to all. Ep 152 - Mark 6:14-29 | A Prophet on a Platter | Aaron Ventura

If we want to become a faithful and honest church, where truth and love abound, then we are going to have to be a little bit brave. We are going to have to first confront the wickedness and perversity in ourselves. We are going to have to repent, and put to death that little Herod and that bitter Herodias that dwells in our flesh. Our envy, our lust for power, for money, for reputation. The hankering for other people’s approval must die in us if we want courage to stand. The true prophet is willing to lose his head for Christ. To decrease that He might increase. The true king is willing to lay down his life for the sheep, to face down wolves to protect those who are his. Ep 151 - Mark 6:1-13 | The Carpenter | Aaron Ventura

This morning we come to a new chapter and section in Mark’s gospel. So far we have seen Jesus perform many miracles and those miracles come to climax with the resurrection of a twelve year old girl from the dead (the raising of Jairus’s daughter), which we saw last week (that was how chapter 5 ended). All through these opening five chapters, Jesus has been demonstrating that He has power to heal any affliction, He has power to cast out and conquer demons, He has power to control the wind and the waves of the sea, He even has power over death itself. And the conclusion Jesus wants us to arrive at from observing these mighty works is that Jesus is indeed God, Jesus is divine. No one could do all of these things the way that Jesus does unless He is God. And so miracles are given as signs of Jesus’ divinity, and yet not all who hear and see these signs come to that conclusion. As Jesus said when he taught in parables, not everyone has ears to hear nor eyes to see. This is especially true of Jesus’ own family, his friends, and his acquaintances back in Nazareth. And the question I want to set before us as we ponder this text is: Why is it that some people refuse to believe in Jesus? We know of course the big answer is sin, but what specific sins, what specific obstacles are there, for people to believe on the Lord Jesus? This text is going to give us some good examples to answer that question. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 150 - Mark 5:21-43 | Daughter Zion | Aaron Ventura

"We don’t know the name of this woman. But we know that God calls her “Daughter.” And if you feel or have felt as this woman did, that no earthly physician can heal your soul, that there is a constant flow of impurity within you that seems unstoppable, and everything you touch becomes tainted with sin, then forsake yourself, and reach out in faith to the Lord Jesus. He alone has the power to heal you and make you pure. And He delights to adopt those with faith into his family." Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 149 - How to Think About Parenting - Joe Stout

In this episode, Joe Stout, elder at Christ Covenant Church, walks parents through some ideas on how to think biblically about parenting. This was part of a Sunday School class that took place on June 25th, 2023. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. We are a gathering of saints who love the Lord Jesus Christ because He first loved us. We are a thoroughly Trinitarian, Biblically devoted, and Historically Reformed church founded within the CREC denomination in 2021 in Centralia, WA. Learn more at ChristCovenantCentralia.com 1. Covenant Authority - Granted By God Proverbs 13:24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly. Main idea: God has granted Christian parents authority (as viceroy) to raise their children and parents must exercise this authority (regardless of previous success or failures) if they desire to truly love their children and honor Christ. 2. Faith - In the Promises of God Genesis 15:5,6 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Main idea: Christian parents must begin by believing God’s Promises regarding their covenant children. Before we can implement effective and fruitful parenting, we must first believe that God has already promised to give the growth. 3. Faithfulness - Obedience to the Promises Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Main Idea: Having believed the promises, if follows we treat covenant children not as pagans but as holy (1 Cor 7:14) and covenantally tied to their Heavenly Father (Deut 7:9). Parent’s generally and father’s specifically are called to shape every aspect of their children's lives from birth (paideia) with Christ as King (Joshua 24:15).

Ep 147 - Mark 4:35-5:20 | Legion | Aaron Ventura

"Our nation and our culture and many many churches, have become synagogues of Satan. They have become unclean places where demons are invited to take up residence. And unless Christ has compassion upon us, we will die in our sins. We will jump off a cliff and drown ourselves like wretched swine. This story is meant to warn us about where sin and unrepentance leads. It leads to the abyss. It leads to the same place where devils are punished and tortured for eternity. This story is also meant to give us hope. That Christ is a compassionate God, and is willing to go out of his way, to cross the sea into unclean places to deliver us." Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 146 - Mark 4:21-34 | Parables of the Kingdom | Aaron Ventura

Jesus says in John 12:24 that “unless a seed dies it remains alone, but if it dies, it produces much.” What is hidden but implied in all of these parables is that in order for the kingdom to grow, something must die. Someone must die. And it is through death and resurrection that God’s kingdom multiplies on earth. In 1 Cor. 15:20, Paul calls Jesus the first fruits of the harvest, and if Jesus is the first fruits, then there is a death and resurrection that awaits all of us well. And it is towards that final harvest that all of us should look in hope. Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 143 - Mark 3:19b-35 | The Unforgivable Sin | Aaron Ventura

"For Jesus, that which is eternal takes precedent over the temporal. And it is in this sense that the waters of baptism are thicker than blood. Commitment to Christ and the household of faith, may mean at times leaving your unbelieving parents behind. It might mean you are rejected or disowned by your siblings or family for what you believe. But if you do the will of God, and are loyal to Jesus and His House, then you are joined to an eternal fellowship of saints. A fellowship that begins in this life and continues into eternity. A fellowship that is with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, whose glory we shall behold and enjoy forever. That is the family and household that Jesus invites you to join. And so do the will of God, repent and believe, for in Jesus alone is the forgiveness of sins, and he delights to forgive all who will come to him." Christ Covenant Church (CCC), is a local reformed church in Centralia WA. Ep 142 - Mark 3:7-19 | The Twelve | Aaron Ventura

When John sees the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21, it says, “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.”Jesus in calling The Twelve, is starting to build that heavenly city, and that building project continues down to this day.And so as we celebrate our two-year anniversary as a church, let us remember the blood that was spilled so that we could be called to the top of the mountain. Let us remember that special love that God has shown unto us, by calling us elect in Christ. Ep. 137 - 1 Cor. 1:18-31 | The Foolishness of God (Good Friday, 2023) | Aaron Ventura

The Foolishness of GodGood Friday, April 7th, 2023Christ Covenant Church – Centralia, WA 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Prayer Father, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight O LORD, our Strength and our Redeemer, Amen.

I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. 28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. 29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

Ep 134 - Mark 1:9-13 | And Was With the Wild Beasts | Aaron Ventura

Mark 1:9-139 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. As Paul says in 2 Cor. 1:9, “But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.”So learn to love the wilderness, love the places where God rids you of self-reliance. Ep. 110 - Colossians 4:7-18 | Joe Stout

Colossians 4:7-18 | Workers for the Kingdom of God SERMON FROM OCT. 31ST, 2022 - REFORMATION SUNDAY Joe Stout Our Text this morning comes from the book of Colossians chapter 4 verses 7 through 18. These are the very words of God. Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that he may know your circumstances and comfort your hearts, with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you all things which are happening here. Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him), and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me. Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis. Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you. Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house. Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” This salutation by my own hand—Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen. Pray with me. Gracious God. You have given us all we need for life and holiness in this book. We ask that Your Spirit would bless the preaching of Your revealed Word this morning. Cause our hearts to be transformed for Christ’s glory and cause our local community to be reformed into the likeness of King Jesus as His kingdom goes forth within our midst. We ask this in His name. Amen! Before Alex Guiness became forever known as Obi-Wan Kenobi of Star Wars he was Colonel Nicholson in the historical drama, Bridge on the River Kwai. In this film adaptation of the book by the same name, Colonel Nicholson, a British prisoner of war, is forced to work in a labor camp building a railroad bridge for the Japanese. Nicholson is a man of high honor, spirit and standards and he expects nothing less from his own men. After an initial battle of wills between himself and leader of the POW Camp, Colonel Saito, he is let out of solitary confinement. He finds that his men in the camp are in disarray. They have been doing all they can to sabotage and slow down the construction of the bridge. They have been doing shoddy work and as a result their own discipline has suffered into the same shoddy disrepair. They resemble a rabble rather than a regiment. Every man doing what is right in his own eyes with no order, no discipline, and no joy. Over the course of the story, Colonel Nicholson inspires the troops to band together and build a better bridge for the Japanese than they could have built themselves. He encourages his men to see that the war won’t last forever and that when the British inevitably win, they will inherit the very bridge they are building. A bridge he says that will ”… teach these barbarians a lesson in Western methods and efficiency that will put them to shame.” Nicholson believes in the victory of the kingdom of the Brits and therefore understands that momentary setbacks such as being a prisoner of war don’t change his marching orders. He is still called to extend the glories of the british empire unto the ends of the earth. Colonel Nicholson is a microcosm of the true reality that is present in t

Ep. 91 - The Sufficiency of Christ - Colossians 2:16-23 | Joe Stout

Our Text this morning comes from the book of Colossians chapter 2 verses 16 through 23. These are the very words of God So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Ep. 90 - Imitation & Love - Ephesians 5:1-7 | Tyler Hatcher

"So how are we able to escape the fools hell of self-deception? What is the antidote? It starts with wisdom and wisdom begins with the Fear of the Lord. We are promised that those who seek Wisdom diligently will find her but there can be no seeking wisdom without the fear of the Lord and there can be no fear of the Lord if there is not first confession of sin." Ep. 46: Discussion Night – Tithe's & Church Budget

We also discuss some easy ways of thinking about church budgeting as well as several miscellaneous topics regarding planting a reformed church in Lewis County. Here is the handout that was passed out during the discussion Titled “Our Role in the Body of Christ” written by Frank Stout. Our-Role-in-the-Body-of-Christ

Ep. 45: Discussion Night – The Lord's Supper

In this episode we discuss communion. There are a lot of specifics to discuss on our convictions as it relates to the Lord’s Supper. What is the regulative principal? What types of worship must be held by the regulative principal and what kinds don’t? What makes for a “covenant renewal” service? What is the difference between the bread and the wine?r Should there be two prayers? Who should be admitted? How old should someone be to come? Should those with mental deficiencies be allowed to partake? What is closed communion? What is open? How often should we observe it? Should we use wine? Should we use leavened bread? Are there blessings and curses connected with the meal? I think to give us context for how communion fits within the broader scope of covenant renewal worship I would like to request that everyone listen to this 40min podcast. James Jordan gives a wonderfully concise synopsis of why we follow the pattern of covenant renewal worship and why the Lord’s Table is so integral to it.

This tune is beautifully paired with the metrical setting of Psalm 23 written by Henry Baker titled "The King of Love my Shepherd Is." We sing this song during our fellowship night together. Ep. 38: Fellowship Night – Covenant Continuity – Reformation Roundtable

During this Fellowship Night we discussed Chapter 4 of the book Standing on the Promises: Covenant Continuity. Covenant Continuity is a topic that Evangelical Christians need to wrestle with. Covenant Continuity embraces the idea that there is one tree from which God's people grow. That tree is Israel and Romans 11 says God's people are either natural branches (Jews) or grafted branches (Gentiles) but the tree is the same and there is but one tree. This has MAJOR implications for child rearing as we explore during this fellowship night.

Ep. 34: Fellowship Night: Promises of God to Parents – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

Welcome to another episode of Reformation Roundtable. My name is Joe Stout. This podcast is dedicated to the vision of planting a distinctly reformed, unapologetically biblical, and historically trinitarian local church. As we pursue this goal together, we created this podcast as a way for others in our community to engage with and join this shared vision to see Christ’s kingdom expand in Lewis County WA. The following recording contains the audio from our latest fellowship night that happened on Feb. 28th, 2021 here in Centralia. Now we aren’t just doing our own thing. We are currently under the care and authority of Trinity Church in Bothel WA which is a member of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches aka the CREC. We would like to have 10 founding member families before we go “live” as a mission church. While we wait on the Providence of God, we are meeting on Sunday evenings for what we are calling “Fellowship Nights.” During these fellowship nights, we have been practicing the liturgy we will use when we come an official mission church. I will have the “Order of Service” in the show notes so that you can follow along if you wish. We will continue to meet every Sunday evening for fellowship nights as well as on Thursday nights for discussions of reformed theology. If you would like to join us for these discussions or for our times of fellowship please visit lewiscounty.church. On that site you can look at a calendar of events, see past discussions and fellowship nights, as well as contact us directly with any questions or comments you might have. Okay that is enough from me, I hope you enjoy this time of fellowship.

Ep. 33: Biblical Eldership plus a Proposed Liturgy – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

The following is a Thursday night discussion that took place on Feb. 25th, 2021. We discussed the booklet form of Biblical Eldership and worked through a proposed liturgy for our fellowship nights as was practice in anticipation for Lord’s Day worship. At the end of the discussion there is a shorter but lively discussion on baptism and the Lord’s Supper that you won’t want to miss. We want to plant a distinctly biblical and unashamedly Christ-centered reformed church in Lewis County. Lewis county has many churches but none that profess or practice the historic reformed faith. We would like to see this change and therefore we have been plowing in faith that we would accomplish the Lord’s will. For the better part of a year and a half, we have been meeting and seeking unity as families. Our stated goal is 10 founding member households prior to launch and our hope is to launch in March of 2021. God is going to accomplish His will in His sovereign mercy and we are excited to see how we can be used by Him in this way. Reformation Roundtable meets on Thursday nights for discussion and Sunday nights for fellowship. If you would like to join us please visit lewiscounty.church and you will find all of our previous discussions as well as an events tab which will show you what is coming up that you can be a part of. Also if you have questions or comments you can fill out the contact form and I will respond to your email personally. Well that is enough from me, I hope you enjoy the discussion and I hope you join us to plant a reformed church in Lewis County Washington.

Ep. 32: Covenantal Child Rearing – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

Welcome to another episode of Reformation Roundtable. My name is Joe Stout and I am pleased to bring you the recording of our fellowship night that took place on Sunday evening Feb. 21st, 2021. Reformation Roundtable seeks to plant a biblically reformed church in Lewis County WA. We are moving closer every week to becoming a mission church and are currently seeking 10 founding member families to join our ranks before we go “live.” In the mean time we are practicing our liturgy in anticipation of that glorious day when we will launch. During this fellowship night we have a time of exhortation and encouragement, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, a time of corporate confession of sin, prayers of thanksgiving and prayers of petition, and a discussion of covenantal child rearing. We then finished the evening with food and laughter. If you would like to join us in this kingdom work, know that you will be answering the prayers we are praying. We want more and more households to join us in the ripe harvest in Lewis County. Please join us. Head on over to lewiscounty.church and you will a tab titled “events” which will list our meetings and fellowship nights. Also you will find a “contact us” tab and filling out the form on that page will put you in touch directly with me and I can answer any questions you might have. The bottom line is that we really hope you will come along side us in our work. Well that is enough from me, I hope you enjoy listening in on our evening and are blessed by the time of worship From prior to the meeting: We will be fellowshipping together and studying Chapter 1 of the book "Standing on the Promises. Here is a .pdf of chapter 1. We will be learning a new song called "What Wondrous Love is This?" . This is an American folk hymn written in 1811. The link will take you to YouTube where you can learn the tune. Here is the song packet and liturgy for our time together!

Ep. 31: Plant and Grow with Families – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

We're reviving the Thursday night discussion format! We have loved moving to a "Fellowship Night" format over the past several weeks where whole families can come together to practice worshiping God, studying His Word, and fellowshipping together. However, one of the limitations of this format is deeper shared discussions. The smaller format of our Thursday night discussions fosters better in-depth discussion of key topics that our Fellowship nights aren’t quite able to provide. While Fellowship Nights on Sunday evenings include all family members and are a wonderful time for us to practice worship liturgy in it's various forms of praise, prayer, confession, etc., Thursday night RRT meetings are geared more toward adults and older children and are filled with more interactive discussions. We'll plan to pursue these meetings (alongside our fellowship nights) to encourage theological unity and understanding as we get closer to our official start date. Which families are ready to be founding members After having a quick phone call with Pastor Hatcher today, his advice was that our goal should be to seek at least 10 families who are willing to become founding members before our inaugural Lord’s Day worship. His reasoning stems from seeing church plants "launch" with too few members and struggle to mature beyond those members. His counsel is that a 10 family minimum seems to give the "critical mass" needed for growth and protects against stagnation. Right now there are 7 families that have confirmed they are ready to become members. There are another 3 or 4 who are considering it but are still seeking the Lord’s direction. If I haven’t talked with you about this one-on-one yet, it’s only because I haven’t had the opportunity. Please let me know if you would like to be included in the list of confirmed founding members and I will joyfully add you to the growing numbers. Please be praying about this decision as a family as we walk by faith and not by sight. We all desire the Holy Spirit to convict our hearts and inform our orthodoxy and orthopraxy. Read the DRAFT form of Trinity Church Bylaws (attached) NOTE: This form was modified by Pastor Hatcher for our Lewis County church plant and has not been voted on or approved yet by the Trinity Church session (elders). Discuss any issues or questions that might come up, after having read it. I particularly like this part of the bylaws “… In submission to Scripture, we confess the purpose of our church is to glorify God through reverent worship, building up our members through preaching the whole counsel of God, observing Christ’s sacraments, and proclaiming Christ to the world.” Discuss Memorials E & F from the Book of Memorials (attached) These two memorials surround Terrorism and Homosexuality. We tabled this discussion from our Fellowship night format as it seemed more appropriate to have the discussion during a Thursday night. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper This discussion will be surrounding the definition of who in the church are “communicant members.” The definition as defined by the bylaws (attached) can be found under Article II, Section A.4. This is a tremendously exciting time as we seek after the glory of God by doing the good works He has set out for us to do. To get to be a part of the story He is telling as it unfolds brings unspeakable joy. As we face a world hostile to Christ and His followers, and we seek to plant a church amidst this hostility, I am reminded of the first question and answer in the Heidelberg Catechism for Lord's Day 1: Q.

Ep. 30: Missions Conference Update - The Church and Poverty – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

On February 5th and 6th, a group of six men traveled to Moscow ID to attend the annual Missions Conference. The topic of this year's conference was the call of the Church to return to God’s instructions for caring for the poor. We looked to God’s Word for our marching orders for bringing true charity and extending true mercy to the poor among us.

Ep. 28: Memorial on Lord's Day Worship – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

We recently met to discuss Memorial G in the CREC book of Memorials. You can read the memorial here. Here is the email I sent to everyone interested in coming. Hi Everyone, Now that Pastor Dave Hatcher has met us all and we've been able to meet him, I would like to propose having our meetings transition somewhat. As we prepare to move toward official Lord's Day worship with Biblical eldership in mind, I would like to know who would be interested in serving in a larger role during our meetings and with the overall vision? This could be things such as: Preparing for and leading the discussions Opening / closing in prayer Preparing and giving prayers of thanksgiving for God's blessings Preparing and giving prayers for the sick and those in need Playing instruments / Leading songs during worship time Help with website, podcast, printing song sheet packets, schedules, etc. Heading set up / clean up Other things that haven't been mentioned...? If this seems like something you would like to take a larger role in, think and pray about it. We can discuss these serving roles tonight and maybe even plan on implementing them on an upcoming fellowship night. We are also planning on transitioning the focus of our discussion during these fellowship nights away from topics that are probably best discussed in smaller groups. I think it might be wise to leave Memorial E and F (Terrorism and Homosexuality) for a small group discussion and just go right to the last memorial. Pastor Hatcher suggested we go through a book exploring the vast number of promises God makes to parents regarding covenant children. It was written by Doug Wilson and is called "Standing on the Promises." Tonights discussion will be Memorial G on Worship as well as discussing serving during fellowship nights. Ep. 27: Pastor Dave Hatcher: Covenant Renewal Worship in a Mission Church – Reformation Roundtable Podcast

We're excited about the work the Lord is doing here in Lewis County. While our leaders and their media proudly herald the various ways the heathen nations can rage and the peoples plot in vain, we plow in the hope that comes from knowing our Risen King is alive and reigning at the right hand of God the Father. He told us that all power and authority had been given to Him and that we were to go into all the world and preach the gospel and baptize the nations, turning them into disciples for Christ. This is the work of the church and this is the plow the Lord has placed into our hands. The good news is that we don't labor in vain. We should never think, "what's the point?" Jesus promised that even the gates of hell (the last enemy to be defeated) won't survive the onslaught of His church. If you missed last week's fellowship night, you can listen to it here. This week we welcomed Pastor Dave Hatcher of Trinity Church in Kirkland. Here is the schedule we followed. We also sang these two songs. 1. Holy God, We Praise Thy Name. (If you are unfamiliar with this song take a listen to the video. It is a glorious, beautiful, and fairly easy to learn tune) 2. Blessed the Man, Who Fears Jehovah (This is Psalm 128 and we've sung it a couple of times.) 3. Doxology Here is the song packet

Oh, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing Doxology We also discussed these two Memorials: Christian Education and 7-Day Creation.

Ep. 23: Oversight in Church Planting: Interview with Dave Hatcher - Reformation Roundtable Podcast

Lewis County is home to over 80,000 souls. Nearly 25,000 of those live in the Centralia / Chehalis area. For the past 12 months, Reformation Roundtable has been meeting to discuss reformed theology. Our vision is to plant a biblically faithful, God glorifying, Christ centered, Spirit filled reformed church right here in the Twin Cities amongst our own people. We also have been working to align our shared vision regarding oversight of this future church plant. Which leads us into the topic of today's podcast. Ep. 21: Who are the People of God? - Reformation Roundtable Podcast

Video Teaching: Covenant Theology As we seek to plant a reformed church in Lewis County, WA we are pursuing unity as it relates to our hermeneutic or method of biblical interpretation. Without unity here, we will likely be simply talking past one another if our hermeneutics are incompatible. We are returning briefly to Covenant Theology as a prelude to beginning our study of sacramental theology (baptism and communion). Our understanding of the Covenantal nature of God informs entirely our view of the Sacraments. Watch Toby Sumpter's teaching here. We are Covenantally Connected to Adam through his sin. Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—” We are Covenantally Connected to Christ through His obedience. 1 Corinthians 15:22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Romans 5:17,19 “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.…For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.“ The Covenants through the OT After the fall, God’s immediate response was to make a covenant with Adam in Genesis 3:15. This covenant was renewed with Noah (Genesis 9:8-17), Abraham (Genesis 15), Moses (Exodus 19, Deut. 28), and David (2 Samuel 7). All of these covenants have their completion in Christ. God doesn’t change. The Seed of the Woman will conquer the Seed of the Dragon. Jesus is that Dragon Slayer and the Covenants throughout the OT are a part of the ONE story God is telling through His ONE people. Toby Sumpter The People of God Clarifying hermeneutic: The people of God or God’s covenant people are not necessarily regenerate, born again, elect Christians. Those who are elect can never lose their salvation (Eph 1:14) however those who appear as a part of the visible church ie baptized, communicant members, may or may not be elect (1 Samuel 16:7) but they are nonetheless a part of God’s covenant people. Reformation Roundtable Ep. 20 – The Rapture & The Millennium

This week we completed our current survey of reformed theology as it relates to eschatology. During this last week we explored two major topics within this field both of which come with much debate and variation as it relates to biblical interpretation. These two topics are the Rapture and the Millennium. Both are difficult to understand and therefore there is a LOT of diversity of thought in "where" Christians are as regards the theological timeline. All Christians believe in a coming rapture. That is why it has been a part of our creeds since the second century, "we believe in Jesus Christ... who will come again to judge the quick and the dead." What does the rapture signify? Is the coming of Christ preceded by wickedness so great that He must whisk us away to safety and therefore we are raptured from earth into heaven? Or is the the coming of Christ preceded by His Church victoriously overrunning the world with the gospel and Christ returns as the victorious King in which we meet Him in the air welcoming Him as He unites Heaven and Earth? Obviously both ideas are wildly different but are based on the same idea of the Return of Christ. We seek unity on this doctrine. Regarding the Millennium or 1000 year reign of Christ, there is also much difference in theological conviction. Some believe it is still to come and Satan is currently in charge, other's believe we are already in the Millennium and that Christ is reigning in both heaven and on earth, and some even believe it exists only in Heaven with Christ and is not an Earthly reality. Again we strive for Biblically based unity on this doctrine. The reasons we've spent so many lectures exploring the topic of eschatology is that we seek to plant a reformed Church in the twin cities of Centralia and Chehalis in Lewis County Washington and we want to have unity as believers specifically as it relates to the end of all things. While we certainly don't need to all hold the same views to have unity, some views are more compatible than others. We are holding these roundtable discussions with the hopes of planting a distinctly and unashamedly reformed church. A church that is unafraid to embrace the big idea that God is truly sovereign. We believe that God is glorified when we understand His majesty, His dominion, and His sovereignty. While it is our conviction that Reformed Theology brings God this glory most biblically and faithfully, there is currently no reformed church in our parish. Therefore, Reformation Roundtable seeks to prepare the soil of Lewis County so that God in His good pleasure, might bring the glories of the reformation.

Reformation Roundtable Ep. 17 - The Destruction of Jerusalem

Throughout the gospel accounts, Jesus predicted the destruction of Jerusalem in stunning detail. He predicted it would happen within a generation and that it would mark the "end of the age" which we interpret to mean the "Jewish Age." Matthew 24 especially depicts in extraordinary detail the precise way in which Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed. RC Sproul takes us on a historical journey through this devastating and prophecy fulfilling event as witness first hand by Flavius Josephus. Truly the Word of God is miraculous in it's perfection. Reformation Roundtable seeks to plant a reformed church in Lewis County, WA. If you would like to join us in our quest to bring the glories of the reformation to this area please reach out to us.

Reformation Roundtable Ep. 16 – This Generation and The End of the Age

The foundational issue with eschatology surrounds time. Since eschatology means "the study of last things," it truly is the foundational issue. Jesus had a lot to say about the future and about judgement against the Jews and the destruction of Jerusalem. Many Christians have had their faith shaken because the secular argument is made against them that the prophecies of Jesus foretelling this destruction, never came true. As Christians we know all of Scripture is inspired and absolutely true. So how do we reconcile the fact that Jesus said, in reference to the end of the age that "this generation will not pass away until all of these things have taken place" and the commonly held belief amongst Evangelical Christians that all of the prophecy of the New Testament remains unfullfilled? RC Sproul tackles this interesting topic in episode #16 of the Reformation Roundtable.

Reformation Roundtable Ep. 15 – Literal vs Figurative Interpretation

The debate within eschatology often centers around a "literal" interpretation vs a "figurative" interpretation. R.C. Sproul walks us carefully through the dangers of using either approach exclusively. He also explains some of the misunderstandings surrounding the idea of "literal" interpretation. My own view is that all of Scripture is the "literal" word of God but not all of Scripture ought to be take as being scientifically literal. For example, Jesus is a figurative "door" unto salvation. Not a literal door made of wood. When Scripture says that the moon will be turned to blood, it doesn't mean the actual celestial body in the sky will turn from stone to hemoglobins and plasma. Certain things are meant to be understood poetically, historically, and yes, figuratively.

Reformation Roundtable Ep. 13 – Crisis in Eschatology

In todays episode, we continue our exploration of Eschatology or the study of last things. We are seeking to gain an understanding of each other and our theological positions. We would like to start a distinctly reformed church in Lewis County and would like to have as much likemindedness as possible on this very important doctrine. We discuss in depth during the roundtable portion of the episode the "why" of eschatology. Why does it matter? What difference does it make if you believe Jesus will likely come back any minute versus in 5000 years. We would love to have other like minded believers join us in this vision to bring reformation to Lewis County. Reformation Roundtable Ep. 12 – Eschatology: Dispensational Premillennialism

Today we dive into the world of Eschatology or the study of "last things." Sam Storms will take us through the most commonly held theological system in Evangelical Christianity, Dispensational Premillennialism. This is not a widely held belief among Reformed Christians but it is helpful to get a good understanding of it to begin finding common ground. After he gives his lecture, he does a short Q&A with the audience which is very helpful. Following this Q&A is the roundtable discussion that involved men in the Lewis County Washington area who would like to see a reformed church start. During our roundtable we discussed a YouTube video called "An Evening of Eschatology" which can be found here: youtu.be/4S0TQ2dXnms

Reformation Roundtable Ep. 7 – Romans 13 and Civil Obedience

Welcome back to another discussion at the Reformation Roundtable. We are a group of men who are committed to exploring the idea of planting a reformed church in the Lewis County area. We would love to see a distinctly and unapologetically biblically based reformed church in the Centralia / Chehalis WA area. The Reformation Roundtable is the place where we gather to discuss the wide diversity of ideas within reformed theology. For our latest discussion we centered on the passage in Romans 13 where Paul tells Christians how they should view and act around their governing authorities. It also paints a clear picture of how governments are supposed to be the ministers, or servants, of Christ. Because Christ is King, every knee should and will bow (including the knees of those ungodly rulers we currently have) to Christ is humble service to His commandments. This is the "blending" of visions for Romans 13; Christians wisely submitting to their governing rulers while those governing rulers wisely seek to reward the righteous and punish the evil doer.
