On this month’s episode Jen sits down with holistic sex educator Jenny Keane, otherwise known as the Orgasm Queen! Jenny chats about how she went from being a teenager who left the room when her parents mentioned sex, to one of Ireland’s leading sex educators, giving workshops with thousands of participants.   Big changes are in sight, with Jenny expecting her first child, and she has plenty of advice for parents about sex and intimacy during and after pregnancy. Jenny talks about toys, sex positions, and ultimately how to think about sex differently.   Finally, Jen finds out about Jenny’s live show at Vicar Street, what’s next for the Orgasm Queen, and gets a sneak preview of Jenny’s new fragrance: Jenny Keane No. 4!

On this month’s episode Jen sits down with author, food writer, and mother Jolene Cox, aka OneYummyMummy.  Jolene’s mission to make home cooking the new convenience food has turned what was initially a food blog into a career as a best-selling author and regular on TV with her nine year old daughter and co-chef, Lily-Mae.  Jen may have a few hangups around food (please don’t make her touch the ketchup!) but she’s determined to get plenty of advice from the expert on how to make home cooking fun. Jolene is a huge advocate of involving kids in cooking from a very young age, even if they’ll only eat beige food!  There are plenty of tips on school lunches and family meals, and Jolene chats about what it’s like having your daughter as your co-star, cooking on national TV, and what’s next for the bestselling author.

It’s that most joyous time of year…unless you’re a Turkey, of course. On this month’s episode, Dustin the Turkey asks us all to go vegan for Christmas or, at the very least, to consider sitting down to a nice, roast seagull. Sure you’ve never seen a turkey rob your chips on Dollymount strand!   First up, though, Jen sits down with comedian, impressionist, and father of two Mario Rosenstock. This week is a very special episode of Mamia & Me, live from Electric Picnic! Host Jen Hogan is joined by singer, broadcaster, businesswomen, and parent of two, Una Healy to chat about music, careers, kids, and more. Una has had a fascinating career, from her early days looking for a break as a musician, to her huge success with The Saturdays and onwards to a solo career, business pursuits and, of course, motherhood. Are her kids in awe of their famous and talented mother? Not a bit of it! Una and Jen trade tales of motherhood and compare notes on some embarrassing parenting moments (with Jen even admitting to a “Home Alone” moment when she left one of her children behind!). Una also talks about her own childhood, getting through a divorce and making things work for your kids, even when co-parenting with someone living abroad. There’s also chat about home life in Tipperary, her future plans, and the one song she really wishes she had written! 

It’s a brand new season of Aldi’s Mamia & Me podcast, with a new host: journalist and mother of 7, Jen Hogan. On this episode, Jen is joined by fashion and lifestyle blogger, podcaster, entrepreneur and mum-to-be Louise Cooney. Louise is expecting her first child in the coming weeks and is happy to get any tips Jen might have, from birth plans to reading to your child, to balancing a baby with being self-employed (hint: you make it up as a you go along!). They chat about social media and “sharenting”, and Louise’s plans for how much of her life as a parent will be online. Pregnancy aside, Louise has plenty to keep her busy, and she talks about her business, her own podcast and, of course, the essential question: would she rather be on Bake Off or Strictly!?

It’s the final episode of Season 2 and Amy sits down with writer, actor, and podcaster Stefanie Preissner. Stefanie recently became a mum, but it was a long and often difficult path and a topic she has been very open and honest about. Stefanie discusses pregnancy, miscarriage, IVF, and grief with Amy and how she has navigated them. She also discusses her recently diagnosed autism, how it shapes her career and family life, and how hospitals and medical practitioners can cater for autistic mothers. Finally, Amy catches up on Stefanie’s busy career, and gets the inside scoop on her upcoming tv show and play!

On this month’s episode, Amy sits down with comedian, author, and entertainer Jason Byrne. They chat about growing up and Jason’s happy, fun, if somewhat injury-prone, childhood. There’s also talk of a potential fight with Brian O’Driscoll, but this is immediately abandoned. Too many variables.  Jason is father to two boys and breaks the terrible news to Amy that her kids won’t want to be in a WhatsApp group with her when they are teenagers. Sob. They discuss the highs and lows of parenting and talk about Jason’s dad, who passed away not too long ago, and the show Jason wrote about his life. There’s plenty about Jason’s career and life and how in the end, if things get a little too long-winded, it’s best to just shout “summarise!” and speed everything along!

On this episode Amy sits down with comedian Emma Doran, currently on tour with her headline show Mad, Isn’t It? From her recent appearance on RTÉ sketch show No Worries If Not, to a variety of radio, tv, and podcast work, Emma’s comedy career has gone from strength to strength. She is mum to three kids – Joe, Tommy, and Ella – and she tells Amy the story of becoming a mum while still in her final year at school. Her experiences have influenced her life, career, and her own parenting style. There’s plenty to chat about, from comedy and kids, to parenting a teenager, career changes, taking a chance and going for it and a few parenting fails along the way. 

On this episode Amy sits down with health coach, wellness speaker and podcaster Georgie Crawford. Georgie’s life changed utterly when she underwent treatment for breast cancer not long after having her first child. However, the experience allowed her to completely rethink her life and she and Amy discuss her illness, quitting her job, and how to see a positive side in everything. They also chat about parenting, surrogacy, Georgie’s career and new book, and the importance of a really cold shower! 

In the first episode of 2023, Amy chats to Gina and Karol Daly, the award-winning creators of The Daly Dish. From their first meeting, and whirlwind romance, to their recent win at the Irish Book Awards, Gina and Karol have plenty of stories to tell. Their love of cooking grew out of early attempts to feel healthier while still eating the tasty food they loved, and it has led them from tasteless tacos to recipes sought out by their hundreds of thousands of online followers and cookbook fans. It's not all about the food, though. Gina and Karol are proud parents to Holly, Ben, and baby Gene. They chat about parenting, pregnancy, terrible baby food, and the very special significance of World Down Syndrome Day.

It’s nearly Christmas, and Amy sits down with Aoibhín and Ailbhe Garrihy to chat about sisters, mums, and how to have a Christmas without all the small kids constantly waking everybody up! On this episode Amy chats to broadcaster, business owner and mother of three, Mairead Ronan. Mairead recently quit her very successful radio career to spend more time with her family and to concentrate on other projects, of which there are quite a few! She’s the long-time host of Ireland’s Fittest Family, a former winner of Dancing with the Stars (done with a new baby at home!) and owner of haircare brand Faro.   Amy and Mairead chat about “mum guilt” and the difficulties of balancing work, family and personal time. Leaving her radio job allowed Mairead to put more time into her business, until suddenly she was as busy as before! She talks about parenting two young kids alongside a teenager, comparing it to her own childhood and of the fond memories of her mother who she sadly lost at a very young age.  And, along the way, there are prank text messages, a very cute dog, parenting fails, learning to give herself a break and speaking of which… a mysterious broken arm!

In a very special episode of Aldi’s Mamia & Me podcast, Amy is joined by Paul O’Connell in front of a live audience at Electric Picnic! There’s some rugby talk to begin, where Amy displays her renowned encyclopaedic knowledge of the sport, before the chat moves to life, being a parent, and Paul’s own childhood. There is plenty of overlap between being a good sports coach and being a good parent and Paul lays out some of the many benefits of sport for kids. He discusses his work for Barnardos, his biggest parenting fail (there’s a lot of vomit involved!) and the balance between work and kids. Amy learns about how Dermot & Dave unexpectedly ended up working together after a “playdate”, and their 20-year partnership both on and off air. There are some family holiday horror stories and some parenting fails, a little bit of meditation and, of course, some terrible dad jokes.

Amy chats with RorysStories, Rory O’Connor about the leaving cert, the delivery room and some of the obstacles he faced in school, only to return as a role model for kids facing their own challenges. Rory and Amy laugh and compare notes on ‘lockdown lookback'- the topic of Rory’s upcoming book. There’s some sound advice around parenting, mental fitness and chat about Rory’s upcoming live shows.

This week Amy is joined by Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian, who have a very exciting announcement! The celebrity couple sit down with Amy to talk about their news that they are soon to be parents, by way of surrogacy. Brian and Arthur talk about some of the difficulties as well as their joy at becoming parents, and their plans for the future. We hear about Arthur’s childhood and his route to becoming a renowned dancer and TV personality, and how Brian could have been UK Prime Minister (sort of!).

On this episode Amy chats to the acting phenomenon that is Barry Keoghan. From starring in a school play in Dublin as a teenager to taking on some of the biggest roles in Hollywood, Barry’s rise to fame has been startling. He chats about his childhood (including having the Olympic gold-medallist boxer Kelly Harrington as a babysitter!) and about some of the challenges he faced in early life. With his most recent role in The Batman, Barry chats about his approach to acting, starring alongside some of the biggest actors in the world, and coming back home to Dublin where he’s just Barry, and where his grandmother will very quickly bring him down to earth if he gets any notions! 

This week Amy sits down with presenter, designer and mum Pippa O’Connor. Amy and Pippa quickly realise they are the same person: their husbands and children have the same names, they both wanted to be actors as kids, and they have a similar aversion to sport despite their famous family connections. They chat about travelling in style (most of the time), supporting other women by talking openly about miscarriage, and the ups and downs of motherhood. Pippa shares memories of her own mother, talks about her childhood, her early career as a model, and her business success today. For Mother’s Day, her wishes are simple: that her kids will, for just one day, wear those lovely chinos and not their football gear!

Amy sits down with Victoria Smurfit to compare tales of motherhood, love, and mortifying auditions. How do you make sure your kids are eating healthily when you're working thousands of miles away? How do you embarrass your kids into doing what you want them to do? Why should you make sure your kids get bored? Victoria Smurfit imparts her wisdom. 

Is it mum or mam, or maybe mammy? Actress and writer Brona C. Titley chats about accidentally leaving Ireland for a life in London, having a child in the early months of the pandemic and her award-winning career as an actress and comedy writer. Brona and Amy compare stories about the weird things people say to you when you’ve had a baby and the common misconception that Brona has written all of Robbie Williams' songs!  And, Amy chats to TikTok sensation Serena Terry, better known as Mammy Banter. They look at her success on social media, her life as a mammy, your kids mortifying you in public and her new book. Oh, and there’s also a ball shaver…but it’s not what you think!

It’s Christmas time and Amy sits down with Lucy Kennedy to chat about festive plans, childhood memories and what Lucy really wants for Christmas. But it’s not all yuletide chat. As a presenter, writer, and mother Lucy talks about her record-breaking 7-minute morning routine to be on time for her radio show, her work on TV, her new book, and what her kids think about it all. And there are dogs too. Lots of dogs! 

Angela and Amy discuss how time alone away from kids, preferably in the bath or with a professional massaging your feet is a vital part of being an overall good parent.  They also discuss protecting the wooden floors during home pool hypnobirthing and the pros and cons of possibly eating the placenta. Apparently ‘plasania’ is the latest delicacy and they wonder if there might be a handy Tik Tok recipe out soon…?
