Exploring Jerami Grant trades w/ Omari Sankofa II

The Sacramento Kings are expected to make a significant trade this offseason. Monte McNair and Wes Wilcox have already made two other trades with the Detroit Pistons, and Jerami Grant could be the centerpiece for a third between those front offices during this offseason. Omari Sankofa II, who covers the Pistons for the Detroit Free Press, joins me to give some perspective on Jerami Grant as a player, what he thinks is a reasonable extension price, the value of Richaun Holmes, and his thoughts on some hypothetical trades that would land Jerami Grant on the Sacramento Kings. 2022 Draft Profiles: Jaden Ivey and Johnny Davis

Most fans of the Sacramento Kings would probably roll their eyes at the idea of them drafting yet another guard in the lottery of the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft. But, most fans would probably also agree that the Sacramento Kings really just need to add more high-end talent to their roster and the front office of Monte McNair and Wes Wilcox have shown no fear in taking who they believe is the best player available despite any positional overlaps. Bryant West (@BSWest5) joins the pod to talk about draft prospects Jaden Ivey (Purdue) and Johnny Davis (Wisconsin). We break down the intriguing skillsets of these lottery-talent guards, what their ceiling and floors are, our ideas of ideal roles for each of them, how they could translate to the NBA, their potential fit alongside De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, and more. Is there a world where Jaden Ivey or Johnny Davis is the clear best player available when the Sacramento Kings are on the clock in the 2022 NBA Draft? Learn more about your ad choices. 2022 Draft Profiles: Tari Eason & Jalen Duren PLUS live-reaction to coaching search updates (Mark Jackson??)

Bryant West helps break down two prospects who are projected lottery picks in the 2022 NBA Draft in Tari Eason (LSU) and Jalen Duren (Memphis). We explained why Tari Eason has the potential to be a dream frontcourt fit alongside Domantas Sabonis, but will he shoot at a high enough clip to compliment De"Aaron Fox. While we then tried to move the conversation onto the details of Jalen Duren, Woj and Shams dropped a bomb laying out some unexpected names for the Sacramento Kings head coach vacancy including Mark Jackson, Mike D'Antoni, and NOT Kenny Atkinson for some reason. So, after not being able to restrain from instantly reacting to that, we eventually transition back into Duren's skillset, upside, and why his fit with Sacramento is extremely complicated. There’s no NEED to trade De’Aaron Fox

I've heard a few people say that the Kings NEED to trade De'Aaron Fox this season and I really could not disagree more. I spend nearly 90 minutes explaining my thought process on why this is a bad time to move on from him. Fox has reached an All-Star despite all the ridiculous and constantly changing circumstances he's gone through since being drafted by the Sacramento Kings. Trading him right as he finally gets the best teammate of his career and someone else who can ease his offensive responsibility would be a risk. He's 24-years-old and it's hard to imagine his circumstances with the Kings getting worse than they have been. Also, you don't want to just end up in a similar situation with Haliburton where the Kings lack the talent around him to optimize him. One player does not win basketball games in the NBA, unless they are truly generational, and the Sacramento Kings FINALLY have two players with genuine All-Star potential. Don’t Overreact: Sacramento’s blowout loss in San Antonio could be an outlier

The Sacramento Kings recorded their first loss of the season that wasn't particularly close at any point in the second half. Going into San Antonio, the Kings were favored despite lacking Tyrese Haliburton, but they came out with lackluster effort and energy. Will Griffith of the Kings Herald joins the show for the first segment to talk about why it's too early to say "this is just like last year", even though it was admittedly horrible. We also dive into Fox's breakout performance, the half-court struggles on offense, our thoughts on Walton's early season, and Marvin Bagley refusing to play. For the second half of this episode, I brought on Bruno Passos (@bouncepassos), who covers the San Antonio Spurs, to give his perspective on the Spurs' best shooing night of the year as he drives home from the stadium. I pick his brain on how much of it was simply San Antonio making shots compared to the Kings failing on their end. He hilariously identifies a primary issue with Sacramento's offense after limited exposure to the team this season and gives his thoughts on the Spurs' play-in chances this season.
