FULL SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES: https://GodFearingKids.com/027  CONTACT: 📩 feedback@GodFearingKids.com ON THIS EPISODE: Our definition of a child being “socially awkward” is one that may cause them to struggle with interacting with others in a way that reflects the love that Jesus taught. This may manifest in their behavior and be seen in their reluctance to engage with others, or in their lack of understanding of social norms. It could also be seen in their difficulty in forming meaningful relationships with their peers, or in their discomfort when placed in social situations. FULL SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/GFK033  CONTACT: 📩 feedback@GodFearingKids.com ON THIS EPISODE: If you take just a moment to examine the means by which you function in the world, you’ll discover that MOST of what you do is performed out of mental habits. In other words, the way you’ve learned to THINK about things is what guides the way you behave, how you make decisions, the manner in which you respond to other people, and a load of other things. Your kids have already developed some of the mental habits that will shape their lives, but there is still time for you to guide them to tear down destructive mental habits and to develop the most important of all mental habits — the habit of trusting God. HEART CHECK: Who are you listening to?

FULL SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES: https://GodFearingKids.com/HC3  CONTACT: 📩 feedback@GodFearingKids.com ON THIS EPISODE: Hello again, parents, this is Mindi Green and I have a heart check episode today that I wanted to share with you. And I wanted to ask the question, who are you listening to for advice? As parents, I hear a lot from parents how they've read this article or they've heard this podcast or their friend told them some advice on their child. And sometimes I'm encouraged because it is good counsel that they received. But many times I'm saddened because it sounds like worldly counsel. And so I'm wanting to ask you as parents, who do you go to first when you need counsel? And my encouragement to you, my, my counsel to you today would be, God should always be your first source of wisdom and help. And as we've said in other episodes, our hearts need to be completely in 100% dependent on the Lord. And so are you going to him asking him for wisdom about the issues with your children, how to raise them, how to love them, how to teach them and train them. 013: Good thinking comes from good communication

FULL SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/GFK013  ON THIS EPISODE: Imagine that you come into a newly built home and it's your job to decorate it for the sale of the home. You have these beautifully painted blank walls. You have a wonderful open floor plan. You have all this great canvas to work on and you get to adorn this home, whatever way you want to. You have an unlimited budget. You can just do whatever you want. Now, some of you would have a lot of fun with that. And you would think of all these creative things you could do. I bring up that illustration to put you in mind of the creative process… and to point out to you that when your child comes out of the womb, you have a blank slate. You have a blank canvas that you, as the parent are responsible to adorn with godly character and godly ways of thinking and godly perspectives on the world. They don’t know how to think, how to feel, or how to act. It’s your job to paint on that canvas with the things of God… and you do it through good communication. 012: Nine guidelines for loving spankings that benefit your child

ON THIS EPISODE: Many adults were never spanked and others were abused. So we understand how it can be very difficult to know what a "good" or “right” spanking should be like. Scripture assumes readers to understand what a “good” and “bad” spanking looks like… but that’s not the case anymore. This episode we want to give you some quick guidelines we've learned that will prevent you from underdoing it (not really disciplining effectively) or overdoing it (abusing your child). 011: Spanking is a good thing (not an abusive thing)

“Spanking” is a word in parenting circles that immediately creates tension. We all understand why… there are folks on either side of the issue who have a strong opinion about the subject… Some feel any time a parent strikes a child it’s wrong and abusive. Many of the people who feel that way were in fact abused by a parent or authority figure, sometimes even under the guise of it being a “spanking.” Others feel spanking, done properly, is an appropriate and healthy form of discipline. What is more, they also feel that it’s supported scripturally as a method of discipline God Himself condones and encourages (when done properly). We understand the debate, but honestly don’t care much about the arguments on either side. We’re most concerned with what God says about spanking. On this episode we’re going to walk through the primary Bible verses that support the use of spanking in parenting. 010: Discipline: One size does NOT fit all

ON THIS EPISODE: I'm sure you've heard the term and you've probably experienced the result of the phrase. One size fits all. The only thing I have ever experienced where one size really does fit all is with those professional flexible band, major league baseball type ball caps. But in most circumstances, one size does not. And that's true of parenting as well. When it comes to the issue of DISCIPLINE, it’s especially true. Not only does discipline need to vary in consideration of age ranges and stages of life varying children are in… each CHILD will have their own unique temperament and personality to consider. This episode, we give some general guidelines to think through when it comes to applying discipline in the variety of circumstances you’ll face as a parent. 009: Discipline is a good thing (not a scary thing)

ON THIS EPISODE: What do you think of when you hear the word “discipline?” Exercise? Dieting? Punishment or correction? It’s a word that certainly has a place in all those contexts… and it’s also a word that comes into play for Christian parents almost daily as they seek to train their kids for godly living. Don’t let the difficulties you have potentially experienced in this area make you afraid of being the “bad guy” in your kids’ eyes. You are commissioned and equipped by the God of creation to do this job… and you CAN do it. 008: Don't excuse your kids’ behavior

ON THIS EPISODE: Recently, my 94-year old mother told me a story about how an old friend of hers dealt with her kids’ misbehavior. According to my Mom (who can tell a story, but seldom makes things up). this friend often got calls from the school that her kids were in the Principal’s office… but every time she did, according to the friend, “It’s their friends that keep getting them in trouble.” Does that explanation sound believable to you? Or is the Mom thinking more highly of her kids’ behavior than she ought? Or is she making excuses for bad behavior for some reason? We often hear parents excusing their child’s behavior — rudeness, shyness, disobedience, disrespect — all things that should be dealt with appropriately and swiftly. Why do parents do this and what’s the remedy? We’ll cover the issue on this episode. 007: Teach, train, and discipline your kids like God does

ON THIS EPISODE: Every parent comes into their role as Mom or Dad with NO experience. There’s also no step by step user’s manual to help us get our feet under us. HEART CHECK: True spiritual life for busy parents : Introducing a resource that changed our lives

ON THIS EPISODE: God fearing parenting requires that you, the parent, consistently engage with Christ on a personal basis, for yourself. It's not about rules you impose on your kids or values you teach to them... at least not as a first-order thing. You've got to be focusing on your own vibrant relationship with Christ. 006: Don't fear your authority (or your kids)

ON THIS EPISODE: If I were to ask you, “Are you're willing to do whatever it takes to equip your kids to be adults who honor and love the Lord?” you'd likely say, “Yes.” But what if I asked you this question? “Are you willing to do whatever it takes to overcome YOUR OWN fears and insecurities and baggage, so THAT you can best equip them to be that kind of adult?” That’s a more difficult question isn’t it? It’s difficult because it’s not theoretical, like the first one, it’s real-life. It’s one we instantly realize we are answering every day of our lives… and much of the time we answer it from a place of fear… fear of our kids. That may sound kind of strange, but there are parents all over the world who seem to be afraid to be the parent, when that's the role that God's given them. This episode, we’re talking about that… and providing you some mindsets and tools to begin moving in a new direction. 005: How you can guide the heart of your child to the heart of God

ON THIS EPISODE: Imagine for a moment that you're driving down the road and the warning light on the dashboard of your car comes on. What is that telling you? It's telling you that something on the inside of your engine or in the mechanics of your car is not working properly. What do you do when the light is shining in your face? Ignore it? Worry? Call the mechanic? Did you know that your kids have a built-in warning light, placed there by the God of the universe? On this episode of God Fearing Kids and the Parents Who Raise Them, we're going to learn how to assess the condition of our children's hearts by using God's built in warning light — their behavior. 004: Get busy building the Jesus-environment of your home and family everyday

ON THIS EPISODE: Take a little bit of time to consider this question… “What is the environment of your home like?” We’re not asking whether you have AC or heat or just open windows. We’re not asking whether or not your house is clean or dirty. What we’re talking about is the spiritual environment of your home. Is it an environment that magnifies and uplifts Jesus or one that is no different than your neighbors who don’t even know Jesus? This is a VITAL question to answer because the environment your kids grow up in is going to DICTATE how their character develops in many regards. For that reason, this a serious issue that we’re going to take a while to unpack. It’s on this episode, so be sure you listen. 003: How to pray in faith for the blessing and favor of God on your kids

ON THIS EPISODE Think about your day, you make your plans. You're gonna go to work and at work, you'll be doing this and that. And you might need to go to the lunch with a friend during work, the wife might be thinking, I need to go to this store. I need to take the kids to school. So you plan out your day with the things that you need to do, and it involves your car, driving you all these different places. And very rarely are you thinking of the gas that is helping the car drive. But we all know that if we don't have our tank full of gas, we're not gonna be able to do what we plan for that day, whatever it is that we're gonna do, it's kind of the same thing with prayer.  As a parent, you have these desires and these places you wanna go with your children in your teaching and prayer is like the gas in the car. If you have not, first of all, prayed through your desires of where you're wanting to take your children of what you're wanting to teach them. It's like you're out of gas and you're not gonna be able to get there. So we wanna talk to you today about how important prayer is. It has to be a part of your life. Just like you have to have gas in your car to be able to go to work. There's not an option. So we, we wanna encourage you with this important element of your life as a parent. INTRO: What we mean by "God fearing" kids?

ON THIS EPISODE: We thought we should probably start out with an explanation of the title of this podcast. "God Fearing Kids and the Parents Who Raise Them - It's kind of a long name, but it has meaning behind every word. So let's talk first off about the idea of being God fearing. That's a word or a phrase that may give some people a little bit of trouble when they hear it. Because you know, in our heart of hearts, we don't wanna be afraid of God. We feel like that's wrong to be afraid of God, because He's loving and compassionate and all those things. But God himself encourages us to fear Him.
