Duncan and Bo: Slash Fiction – Episode 1
Back from our holiday break, Duncan and Bo turn their discerning eyes toward the Chiller Channel-turned-Netflix series, Slasher. There are bad accents, ridiculous tangents, and non-sequiturs galore, and that’s just the episode! As always, we kick things off with good and bad recent watches, including some great arthouse stuff and a brief discussion of Grizzly 2: Revenge and Hunter Hunter. We do work into some political talk, but only a little, so fair warning if you’re not interested in that sort of thing. Follow Legion Podcasts on YouTube, Twitch, and/or Facebook to watch live episodes as they’re recorded! Duncan and Bo Go to Lovecraft Country: I Am and Jig-a-Bobo
We are nearing the end of our tour through the first season of Lovecraft Country! Don’t fret, we came with a ginormous episode of substantial proportions to slake your thirst for that sweet DBCC action. First, we gives some nods to Blood Vessel and Possessor before launching into the main discussion. We manage to sneak in some questions, and a long diversion into Mike Flanagan love, before we finally get around to, you know, the point of the show. Then it’s on to a pair of outstanding episodes. In “I Am,” we talk burning bellies, sandbagging the stupid, the complicated characters and motivations of the show, and the pure pulp joy of the last half of the episode. In “Jig-a-bobo,” we confront racial caricatures in a way that makes Us look like a kid story. It’s terrifying, and we get some great exposition, too, and one of the ooziest body morphs on film! Bonus: Duncan’s favorite Duran Duran song! In “Meet Me in Daegu,” we learn the origin of Ji-ah, explore the origins of Spice Girls songs, weigh the advantages of prehensile genitalia and so much more! The penultimate episode of Season Two of Westworld is here and we’re ready to pick over the juicy bones of this one. We’re going to get a LOT of William backstory, which means talking crazy theories about hosts, the new couple name for Ford and Bernard, how to know when Sir Anthony Hopkins has you in his sights, our new show “The Mesa with Maeve,” get into some conspiracy theories about William’s last moments in this episode, and send #TooWokeTeddy into the great Cradle in the sky! The end is nigh! But not so you’d notice from us. We’re debating Black Panther, Duncan gushes over Hereditary and finally catches up with The Terror (spoilers from 23:15 – 40:00) while Bo brings up Jess Franco’s Daughter of Dracula and the nostalgic trip to Wayne’s World. Then, it’s on to Westworld where we find a story that has been hovering around the edges of this show for two season, and finds us both surprised by the emotional hooks in the episode. Also, the surprising musical interludes of this episode, Bo looks to Duncan to remind him what the hell is going on in this episode while in no way incorporating Duncan’s theories into his own, and we fawn over the construction of this episode’s timeline. Of course, Duncan plays devil’s advocate to Bo’s comic enthusiasm in a conversation about how meaningful these movies are in the wake of Avengers: Infinity War and get feisty about the Jurassic World franchise. Then, it’s off to the races with a slam-bang episode of Westworld. “Reunion” delves deep into the park’s past, and we approach it with the same reverence and solemnity you’ve come to expect from Duncan and Bo! Buckle in for one last turn through the world of The X-Files. This is it! We made it! Before, we correct a few common misconceptions about the show, do a new ad from our listeners, talk about Netflix movies as real movies, Soderbergh’s new horror film, Santa Clarita Diet, The Terror, Manhunt: Unabomber, and then we catch up with the perfect way to end our look at The X-Files. “My Struggle IV” is a conflicted mess of an episode. We dive into the bad time-hopping of this episode, how terrible a kid William is, chicken college, Jim Garrison investigates The X-Files and uncovers a sinister conspiracy of his own, Brimley’s female problems and puzzle over how anyone could have let this happen to a beloved franchise. Welcome back to a brand-new episode of Duncan and Bo Come Correct nee Duncan and Bo Go to The X-Files. We then turn our attention to two more great episodes of Twin Peaks and explore Tim Roth’s Bowie-inspired accent, whether DoppelCooper is still possessed by Bob, Bobby Briggs visits his mother over here, the return of Matthew Lillard and some deep mythology, Dougie finally goes to the doctor and gets some action, Nadine goes into business, Richard Horne cements his place as the primary jerk of Twin Peaks and we once more devolve into barking noises at one another. Now pass the damn peas and get listening!

Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies: The Returnsies: Episodes 7 & 8
Things are gonna get weird… We are tacking the oft-mentioned episode eight of Twin Peaks: The Return, but not before we get into the preceding episode and some talk about Psycho 2, The Belko Experiment, It (spoilers from 32:15-52:45), Agent Smith the angel, a welcome return from Doc Haywood, we come up with a great movie idea, the tale of the Phantom Logger, Diane vs DoppelCooper, Naomi Watts vs police, Ike the Spike!, “The” Nine Inch Nails, the threnody of Aerosmith and how truly incredible this episode of television is. From here on out, it’s uncharted territory, so jump in and mind the disgusting frog-bugs!

There’s wedding wings, new impressions, drugged-out teenagers, Harry Dean Stanton, a surprise Lifeforce appearance, innocence lost and dead children. You know, fun!

Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies: That’s What You Get with Chet!
Let’s be honest withe each other. This is a long show. We spend almost five hours discussing everything in between the final scene of Twin Peaks season two and the new episodes. We begin with The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, a real bummer of a book written by Jennifer Lynch. Why is this book such bad fan service? Why is Leo so much cooler? Then, we turn our attention to Fire Walk with Me, which is way better than you remember. We comb through this much-maligned film to point out what a great horror movie it is. Also, it’s a terribly, terribly sad movie. Chet gets a voice, and we truly begin to unpack the mythology of Twin Peaks. If you thought that was weird, we then go to The Missing Pieces, a collection of outtakes and extended scenes that help flesh out this universe. And, finally, we deep dive on the lore with Mark Frost’s The Secret History of Twin Peaks, a terrific epistolary novel in which we learn all sorts of weird and wonderful trivia, including owl-people, Hawk dunking on James and the horror trope roots of the Twin Peaks universe. It’s time to nerd out on the spirits of the Black Lodge, Duncan’s [...]

Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies Flashback! “Blood Feast” & “Winterbeast”
No new Twin Peaksies this week as I quickly learn to read so we can talk about the supplemental reading, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get a heapin’ helping of Dunacn and Bo! Take a trip back in time when all we did was talk about movies – in this case, two of the most hilariously awful movies of all time. Nothing can prepare you. Join us, won’t you?

Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies – “Miss Twin Peaks” and “Beyond Life and Death”
It’s the end of an era as Duncan and Bo go to the original series one last time, where we take a very serious and studied approach to Twin Peaks as a television institution, but not before we talk a little Preacher, Game of Thrones and the pleasant surprise of Michael Keaton’s renaissance. Also, the deliriously exciting return of Mark Frost and David Lynch to the show, a whole lot of loose ends, Leostein getting interesting, Windom Earle debates weird ways to kill people, how David Lynch is the world’s most famous troll, more Pinhead food reviews, Donna identifies various untruths and refuses to pass the peas, Master of Disguise Windom Earle dons his greatest disguise yet, Pete Martell weighs in on video games, the great Double R rampage, Donna and the Haywards get weird and the greatest 15 minutes in television history. It’s been a ride, but we’re coming in for a landing and we answer all your burning questions, like “How’s…?” No, not yet!

More than five hours of Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies this week? That’s how you know we love you. We’re closing in on the end of season two and things are heating up! With Josie now part of the furniture (or whatever), Harry’s hitting the bottle and we’re there to follow him to the bottom. Hawk keeps it classy, Mike and Nadine are exploring the realm of the sensual, David Warner’s too-brief time with us is lamented, we pitch the new show Coop and Hawk, catch up with James on the road, muddle through some business with Donna’s mom and Ben and, of course, chart the return of Agent Cole and the eternal thumbs up!

Also, Billy Zane joins the cast and gets his dumb voice. We also manage to chat about the new season of Twin Peaks (no spoilers!), the solid found footage film Capture Kill Release, plans for life after Twin Peaks, we get a much-needed referee to keep us on track, the definition of “playing grab-ass,” Big Ed’s big decision, Bo’s admiration of wood chips and, of course, what the hell is going in the final scene.

Ladies and gentlemen, let us continue our careful and professional examination of the landmark television series, Twin Peaks. Herein, you will find your stalwart companions, Duncan and Bo, debate the meandering storylines of these episodes, propose a new movie based on the legend of Madam Deadtooth, celebrate the James-ness of this twin-pack of episodes, chat about M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable and the groundbreaking American Gods and once more lament what has become of Donna. Also, Madam Deadtooth’s elaborate plans to frame James, the introduction of Leostein and we inexplicably sing the theme from Cheers. Try to keep up, things get weird.

Malcolm Sloan), a far too elaborate series of poo jokes, speaking in German, why there is so much sexual assault in these episodes, five-knuckle shuffles, a new layer to the Nadine mythology, the lack of Donna, what exactly is wrong with these episodes and much, much more!

There’s Deputy Hawk awesomeness (ka-kaw!!!), James takes his show on the road, Nadine finds love and a new DEA agent comes to town! Also, we chat about The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and XX before we plunge into all the storylines we love and a couple we struggle to care about. Why is See-You-Next-Tuesday Catherine Martell inspired by sitcoms? What’s with that tooth? And have we somehow managed to make Nadine even more horrifying? We might be a day late, but we’re a show short, too! We get so wrapped up in Episode 10 of Season Two, we whiff on the second episode! That doesn’t mean we’re going easy on this one. There’s a new voice for Bobby Briggs! Nadine is a cheerleader! Leo’s Meh-brand chair! The Twin Peaks musical you’ve been waiting for is here! Trigger warning: Bob Seger-influenced puns inside. Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaksies: “Drive With a Dead Girl” and “Arbitrary Law”
The mystery solved! We now know who killed Laura Palmer, but can our killer be brought to justice? Agent Cooper and his team are hot on the trail of the completely not-crazy murderer, and Duncan and Bo are there to see it through! Along the way, we bemoan how jokes can go bad, talk about the plethora of mirrors in Twin Peaks, investigate the special relationship between Jean-Luc Picard and Mr. Data, celebrate the amazing turn by Ray Wise in these episodes and totally gloss over the stupid Lucy/Gwen/Deputy Andy story line. Also, Duncan talks about the new episodes (!) of Twin Peaks on Showtime, Bo defends his position to not watch them yet, male romper rage, Pete Martell’s strange reversal of character, the superior final form of Deputy Hawk and even get into what this whole show is really about. Hint: Probably human nature. It’s the last pair of undeniably great episodes before we launch into pure madness. Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaks – “Laura’s Secret Diary” & “The Orchid’s Curse”
We have apparently stumbled upon a new format, which is just pure madness recorded for your listening pleasure. We poorly discuss the following topics: Do you need the internet for pornography? The difference between potato chips and “crisps.” Kirk Douglas impressions (just as tasteless as you would imagine). Can this really be called a podcast anymore? Does anyone care about what’s going on with Lucy? How much we all want to go to Sternwood Acres. Amazon ratings for sex swings. Black Yukon Sucker Punches. Under what circumstances can you punch a woman in the gut? And, the best moment in Deputy Hawk history. This, and so much more as we wind our way through the wilds of Twin Peaks Season Two!

Duncan and Bo Go to Twin Peaks: “Coma” & “The Man Behind Glass”
Welcome back to another twofer episode where we tackle episodes two and three of season two! I would like to say this episode is shorter, more concise and more focused, but that would be a lie. It’s crazy long and filled with digressions the likes of which you have come to expect from this series. Duncan may be on the clean-burnin’ propane during the recording of this episode, we can’t be sure. In addition to important topics like what Nadine watches in her coma, the only way to escape Deputy Hawk and that damn James song, we also talk about that new trailer for The Dark Tower and the problem with movie universes. New bad impressions! Twin Peaks as a variety show! Very naughty werewolves! We’re scouring through the first season finale and charting all the crosses and double-crosses. Plus, gank! In the second half, we talk the premiere of season two and the inevitable battle between Deputy Hawk and Mothman, classic Bukowski beat poetry, Nadine’s coma adventures, the haunted sunglasses of sluttiness, the really honestly truly amazing costume design of Audrey Horne and that horrifying final scene. Duncan gets tactical with the head-scratching editing and painfully wooden dialog of Samurai Cop. Bo, who offered up Winterbeast the last time around, takes Duncan on a trip to the Blood Shack, where rodeos and single takes abound. Enough lollygagging, let’s get incorrect! Also, more complaints about Eli Roth’s Knock Knock and some love for Ant-Man.

Duncan and Bo Come Correct – Master Sleuths!
Duncan and Bo turn their perceptive eyes toward two impressive detective films. Duncan goes classic with Coppola’s The Conversation while Bo counters with the under-seen Zero Effect. Can anything top Duncan’s classic from the 1970s? Also, why is Duncan watching Adam Sandler movies? And why does a ghost film turn into a time-travel move? This is the end… Welcome to the sixth and final installment of Duncan and Bo Come The X-Files! It’s been a long, strange trip, but now we come to the season finale of both our recaps and The X-Files proper. Spoilers will, of course, abound. We discuss the episode itself, some of the head-scratching character beats and revisit the idea of whether The X-Files will come back after the events of this last episode, and whether it should… Also, impressions of the B-52s, a cross-cultural agreement on potato-based food nomenclature and angry Duncan. With only one episode left, your pals Duncan and Bo talk about the very political and surprisingly silly episode, Babylon. Why did Chris Carter let Mr. Soapbox get top billing in this episode? What do we think about Einstein and Miller? What about the tragic death of Acting Director Grammar? Also, a surprising amount of use of the word ‘badonkadonk.’ Join us for our penultimate episode as we rank every episode so far and discuss the hopes and concerns for the final episode. Duncan and Bo Come The X-Files: Episode 4 – Home Again
With only two episodes remaining in Season Ten of The X-Files, we come off the dizzying highs of Episode Three and land right in the trash heap. This time around, series stalwart Glen Morgan writes and directs an episode that has something to do with street art and homeless predators. Also, Scully’s mom is dying. Lots to pick through this time around, but we still make time for the important things, like the semantic differences between the United States and United Kingdom as it relates to trash collection, the return of an old series favorite and the subtle symbolism of trash monsters. Enough talking, get to listening!

Duncan and Bo Come Correct – The Best Movies We’ve Ever Done
This time around, Bo is a point behind as we turn our attention to documentaries. Duncan attempts to extend his lead with the powerhouse documentary on the Buckley/Vidal debates, Best of Enemies. Bo fires back with the dark horse doc, Call me Lucky, a profile of the life and times of comedian Barry Crimmins. While the choice might seem obvious, these documentaries show us that nothing is just what it seems and that anything can happen. As the title implies, these are two of the greatest films we’ve discussed and the decision for the winner this time around is tortuous for both our cinematic pugilists.

It’s that time of the year… the leaves are turning, there’s a chill to the air, and Duncan and Bo have returned to battle on the fields of horror. With the scored tied at one apiece, the pugilists of projections turn their sights to the topic of war. Duncan digs deep for an excellent and complex film called Ulzana’s Raid, set in the American Old West where a veteran tracker played by Burt Lancaster squares off against savage Apaches, but who’s the real villain of this film? Determined to take home season two with authority, Bo adds a touch of Kubrick with the Cold War satire, Dr. Strangelove; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, featuring the remarkable Peter Sellers in three distinct roles. The lines are drawn and the weapons are chosen. FIGHT!!!

Duncan and Bo Come Correct – Season Two Episode 2 – Love and Other Disasters
Ah, love. To quote Matt Groening, love is like hurtling across the frozen tundra when, suddenly, the snowmobile flips over. At night, the ice weasels come. We debate the respective merits of the 1981 comedy classic Modern Love and reflect on the true meaning of ‘uncomfortable.’ Duncan gets all European with the coming-of-age tale Blue Is the Warmest Color, which depicts the burgeoning romance and fallout of the relationship between two young French women. Duncan and Bo Come Correct: A Different Word for Everything!
Season Two is here! Welcome back to the cinematic theater of conflict that is Duncan and Bo Come Correct! For the kick-off of Season Two, we come together to discuss two examples of French cinema. Duncan gets all black-and-white with Luc Besson’s Angel-a, in which a down-on-his-luck crook meets a beautiful woman with an appetite for life and a fantastic secret. Bo brings the rabbit-raisin’, water-needin’ drama of Jean de Florette to the table, and, of course, Gerard Depardieux plays a hunchback. Can you even call people that anymore? Hunchback-American? Also, some talk of Mad Max: Fury Road and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. Who takes the early lead? Who can begin season two with the better foreign film? And why can’t Bo say “repeat?” All this and more answered as Duncan and Bo Come Correct!!!

It’s the Feast versus the ‘Beast in the final episode of season one, and the first round of Duncan and Bo Come Incorrect! With victory in hand, Duncan shows up to the party with a 5000-year-old Blood Feast. With the intention of proving that his pick is the worst-yet-wonderful movie, Duncan’s film boasts inept cops, ridiculous books, ’60s-era cheesecake, and the worst sacrifice in film history. Bo has been touting his pick for several episodes, and brings the thunder with a film filled with stop-motion monsters and a plot that requires a degree in bad filmmaking to decipher. Also, a weird old man and his toaster permits. This one has to be heard to be believed! Final song: “Hazy Shade of Winter” by The Bangles. Duncan and Bo Come Correct: Episode 12 – Showdown!
After eleven hard-fought episodes, it all comes down to this. With a loss, Bo must admit defeat to Duncan for season one. With a win, a tie is still possible, which is technically a win for the United States, based on the same logic that America rules and Scotland drools. Duncan comes armed with a post-modernist tale of revenge in the Australian outback, a Guy Pearce-starring film entitled The Proposition. Unimpressed with his film rival’s new-fangled movie, Bo fires back with the last movie starring American icon John Wayne called The Shootist. With the sun setting behind them and hands poised above their pistols, two cinephiles prepare for a duel on the cinematic streets. Lock up the ladies and little ones, folks, ’cause it’s time to DRAW!
