In Nehemiah 11 and 12, the Jews in Jerusalem rejoice over the building of the walls with an elaborate, carefully planned celebration. This weekend was FPU Celebration Weekend, and as we heard some amazing testimonies of the work God has done through this class, Pastor Doug shared some important principles regarding the power of celebration.

Newsflash: the Church is made up of imperfect people! As a young pastor, Timothy faced many challenges overseeing an imperfect family of believers. Seeing this, Paul gives wise advice and specific guidelines about how to love and lead men and women of all ages and position into right and holy relationships.

After gathering inside the newly rebuilt walls of Jerusalem, the people of Israel began a fast, publicly repenting and confessing their sins and rededicating themselves to worship and obey God. Pastor Fidel Gomez relates this story from Nehemiah 9 and 10 to show that God is forgiving and merciful and that He will bless and revive us when we repent and turn to Him.

Pastor Doug wraps up the Book of Acts in chapter 28 by walking us through the final trial of the apostle Paul. Through Paul's journey, we see how his incredible tenacity, to speak God's truth wherever he goes, has been key to spreading the gospel from Ancient Jerusalem all the way to Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. This proves the end of Acts isn't the end of the story and the revolution is still on!

In today's study we find Paul's journey rocked by a storm, but despite the foreboding circumstances he is unshaken. When it appears all hope is lost, Paul takes a stand and encourages the men aboard his ship to take heart. Here we find Paul's true character revealed under crisis along with a simple but valuable lesson—it's always too soon to quit.

As we look at the last few chapters in the Book of Acts, we see that Christianity has been put on trial. Both the Jewish world and the Roman Empire are trying to figure out why, from city to city, the faith of this growing group of believers is turning the world upside down. Focusing on chapters 25 and 26, Pastor Doug shares a message centered around the gospel, that is as relevant to us today as it was in the first century.

Last week we journeyed with Paul on a collision course to Jerusalem, not knowing if this mission would be his last. This week, we find Paul's faithful obedience to the will of God—confident in knowing that the court of man is in the hands of God.

They can help us stay awake spiritually, remind us of God's grace after we fall, and keep our motivation to follow the Lord one of servanthood as opposed to self-seeking. When you serve the Lord continually, in His grace and with the right motivation, you will see that nothing else can do what the Word of God can do.

Idol worship was running rampant everywhere the Apostle Paul carried the Gospel. As Boca Campus Pastor Jerry Sander teaches through our Bible study series in Acts, we learn the obstacles to the Gospel first century Christians faced were not unlike the obstructions present day believers deal with.

As Pastor Doug Sauder continues this series in Acts, we see Stephen debunk the myths the religious leaders believed about their own faith and how it interacts with history and, most importantly, Israel's Messiah. We also learn that laws, locations, and landmarks are not capable of containing God.

Though God is enough to completely satisfy and complete us, we often look to additional things to fill our lives. Continuing through this series in the Book of Psalms, Pastor Reuben highlights the all-sufficient attributes of God described in Psalms 46 and 51, and challenges us to find our joy and contentment in God alone.

Continuing the "Fire From Above" series in Acts, Pastor Doug explores how the early Church dealt with issues of justice and unity. He points out how Jesus set the example for reaching out to the forgotten, the scorned, and the disadvantaged. The apostles followed His example by raising up leaders to care for the poor as they preached the gospel.

Continuing in our Psalms series, Pastor Dan Hickling takes us verse-by-verse through the contrasting themes in Psalms 36 describing the ways in which we overestimate our own goodness and underestimate God's goodness. This weekend, we launched our new teaching series in the Book of Acts as Pastor Chet introduced us to the early days of the Church. We know that as Jesus came to earth to light a fire, His intent was to give us His Spirit, so that we too could spread the fire of the gospel across the world. Christ was crucified, died, and rose again so that we can experience the baptism of His Holy Spirit—the fire from above.

Continuing the series, Minor Prophets Major Message, Pastor Chris Baselice teaches through chapter two of Habakkuk. This message grapples with God's sovereignty and goodness, and what it means to live by faith when your life seems as though it's in its darkest times.
