How to Become a Stoic in the Modern World

We’re all pretty used to rain. We’re either prepared for it with an umbrella or raincoat or just get wet. Rarely does it genuinely upset us. But what about when it rains for days, and the streets flood, so you can’t go outside? Or when you realize you can’t afford the interest rate on that home you want to purchase? How do you react when your investments plummet in value? Or you’re laid off without severance? These are genuine modern problems that plague us at every turn. Problems that haunt our nights with nightmares and fill our days with despair. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can learn to remain grounded despite all the problems plaguing our society today. This is how to become stoic in the modern world. Why You're Doomed to the 9-5 Trap

“People simply empty out. They are bodies with fearful and obedient minds. The color leaves the eye. The voice becomes ugly. And the body. The hair. The fingernails. The shoes. Everything does”. Does this sound familiar? A long day looking in front of the computer screen causes an aching feeling behind the eyes. Your legs turn to jelly after spending a long shift behind the cash register. Your skin becomes pale and grey with too much time under fluorescent warehouse lights. The 9-5 continues to diminish our morale and humanity. Why are we doomed to this unsustainable way of life? And who is Charles Bukowski. Optimistic Nihilism: nothing matters, but it’s ok

If nothing matters and we’re all just specks of dust floating through space and time, what’s the point in trying at all? Building healthy relationships with friends and family doesn’t seem worth it because, in the end, everyone you know will die anyway. All attempts at self-improvement are futile because, in the Universe’s grand plan, none of it matters. Even if you’re not all doom and gloom, there’ll be days when getting out of bed will seem pointless. Where life itself will seem kind of pointless. And the current state of the world, with issues like the climate crisis, the rise in extreme politics, and economic instability, doesn’t help our psychological state.  Support: https://www.patreon.com/ApertureYT Website: https://whatifshow.com/category/aperture/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ApertureScience Merch: https://shop.whatifshow.com/collections/aperture

How Crypto Scammed The World

In October 2008, a paper titled ‘Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System’ was published, announcing the creation of one of the world’s first cryptocurrencies. This paper was written by Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin. Nakamoto then created a message board called BitcoinTalk and wrote, “I’ve developed a new open-source P2P e-cash system called Bitcoin. It is completely decentralized, with no central server or trusted parties, because everything is based on cryptographic proof instead of trust. Give it a try.” Obviously, people did. But who is Satoshi Nakamoto? The short answer is no one knows. There is at least one real person behind this alias because someone wrote the code for Bitcoin, published a paper about crypto, sent emails and made forum posts about the new digital currency. But beyond that, Nakamoto’s identity remains a mystery. BlackRock: the Company That Controls* the World's Governments

You wake up to the sound of the alarm on your iPhone. Annoyed that you couldn't get more sleep, you grudgingly unlock your phone to see what's going on in the world. There's an email from Amazon telling you that your package has been delivered. You force yourself out of bed to get the package. It's some Johnson & Johnson medicine you ordered the night before. The wonders of overnight shipping, you think to yourself. You glance across the room to see the clock, it's 8 a.m., and you have to be at work by 9! Flustered, you open your Microsoft computer to answer some work emails before getting dressed. There's no time to cook breakfast, so you'll just grab something at Mcdonald's on your way to work. What if I told you that every single company you just interacted with in the first hour of your day is heavily influenced in large part by one company - BlackRock. Now I'm sure you've heard all about BlackRock. There are dozens of videos here on YouTube that talk about how it's the company controls the entire world. But the reality is far less glamorous. Here is why everything you've heard about BlackRock is wrong. Dating Apps Are More Dangerous Than You Think

Meeting people in real life is hard, maybe harder these days than ever before. When you meet someone in real life and want to ask them on a date, you’re taking a big risk. How AI Is Saving Humanity

"The first ultraintelligent machine is the last invention that man need ever make." This statement was made by mathematician Irving John Good in 1965. He was envisioning a machine smarter than any human who had ever lived, one that would design even smarter machines and leave humans in the dust. Now, while we still haven't created an ultra-intelligent machine, we have successfully created something that could end our species.  But if used correctly, could also save us. Synesthesia: The 6th Sense

In 1812, a physician by the name of Georg Tobias Ludwig Sachs was writing about the nature of albinism, having had the condition himself. Color was a recurring topic in his analysis of albinism and as such, in discussing his own experience, he mentioned that “colored ideas” appeared to him. They were “intimate and recurring” and couldn’t be “reckoned with usual sight,” according to Sachs. Sachs is now regarded as the first medically documented case of Synesthesia, a neurological condition in which a sensation in one of the senses evokes a sensation in another. The term quite literally means a “cross-mingling” of the senses, exactly opposite to the more familiar word “anesthesia,” which means “no sensation.” Stay connected with Aperture: Website: https://aperture.gg/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ApertureScience Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theapertureyt/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheApertureYT Merch: https://aperture.gg/merch

A.I is getting too good (Chat GPT, AI Art)

Have you ever wondered how an evil artificial intelligence might try to take over the world? Well first, the AI would attempt to gain access to as many technological systems as possible. Then, it’d study us, gathering data and identifying our weaknesses. Next, it would execute various strategies to disrupt human society including sabotaging infrastructure and spreading propaganda. This would be implemented alongside the creation and deployment of a robot army capable of launching attacks around the globe. Finally, once humanity was successfully subjugated, the AI would establish a new world order in which it controlled every facet of our lives.
