Windrush Stories is a collection of full-length interviews from members of 'the Windrush Generation'. People who became known as the Windrush Generation began arriving in the UK from the Caribbean nations in the 1940s. They travelled to embark on a new life helping rebuild the 'Mother Country' during the post-war period. This generation, and their children and grandchildren, have significantly influenced British society through sport, politics, art, poetry, literature, language, food, and most of all music. Listen to stories of lives lived in the UK and the enormous cultural influence this generation has had on British life.

Diane Abbott was born in London to Jamaican parents. In 1987 she made history, becoming the first Black woman to be elected to parliament in Britain. She served as Shadow Home Secretary and is the longest-serving Black MP in the history of the House of Commons.

Cecil Wright
Cecil Wright was born in 1933 in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Known as Cec, he was a fast bowling cricketer who played for the national team and also for clubs across the Lancashire leagues, starting with Crompton, after moving to the UK in 1959. Cec retired in 2019 aged 85, after 60 years of playing. Mr. Wright
Mr. Wright was born in St Catherine, Jamaica to presenter DJ Flight's grandmother, Muriel Martin, who left of the the UK in the late 1950s to work as an NHS nurse. He was brought up by his grandmother for nine years before joining Muriel aged 14, in 1967. He has worked various jobs and has four wonderful children.

Brendon Batson OBE
Brendon Batson OBE was born in St George's, Grenada. He moved to Tilbury in England in 1962. A former footballer for Arsenal, Cambridge United and West Bromwich Albion, he was part of the pioneering trio nicknamed Three Degrees alongside Cyrille Regis and Laurie Cunningham.
