In this episode, I got to talk to Elle Murasaki from Housewives and Chitchat @housewivesandchitchat and I could have talked to her for hours and hours and hours (which we did before we even started recording.) And we got into all the things! We talked about Ye and the need for all communities, especially ours to come together and speak out against his behavior (and this was before we knew of his recent continued hateful rhetoric,) being black content creators, growing up and going to school in all white spaces, which then leads to a conversation about the housewives we watch and why some things for some of us aren’t always entertainment and can truly be triggering… Especially Potomac. And speaking of Potomac, we talk about the housewife she went to high school with that inspired her to join the technology club to make sure there was always black representation (spoiler…it’s our CandeeGal) and who she has known Candiace to be  based off of her personal experiences with her. We slightly touched on Will Smith/Chris Rock and Jernell, who had never watched Summerhouse was given an assignment to watch and give her thoughts through fresh eyes…which resulted in the text, “What is this Summerhouse?” We have thoughts about Danielle/Ciara and Danielle’s recent interview…eyes on you Danielle. Then Jernell had to step away for a minute and Shanika and I talk about being black and a yoga instructor and what comes with that. In this episode I got to have one of my absolute favorites Kendrick Tucker @realitycomicstoo from the Reality & Comics Too podcast. Kendrick was so gracious to use his lunch hour to record with me and when I tell you even though it was lunchtime, this episode satisfied me like a full dinner meal, palate cleanser and a dessert. We start out touching briefly on our girls on the East Coast, the melanated Queens of RHOP. We talk about the goal post continuously moving and the hypocrisy of some of the cast and some of us viewers. Then we get into RHOSLC and our girl Mary. We talk about the cult chatter (it may very well be, but we will wait and see) and the questioning of her finances (Mary has businesses outside of church) and our own personal experiences with pastors we know that have real live Monday-Friday daytime jobs, outside of their pastoral duties. And how taking a vow of poverty is a personal choice, NOT a biblical mandate and is NOT required of leaders. And lastly we talk about everyone’s new Peacock favorite, the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.  We talk the Cynthia/Kenya relationship, that fine Melissa Gorga and how it seems as if Bravo was ok with sending black women in to deal with a housewife from New York who had racist claims against her corroborated. This week I had the pleasure of speaking with @dr.monica aka Black Girl Magic! Dr. Mo and I got into some of everything including how she came to be a psychologist at Harvard University and what that was like as a black woman, her time at UNC Chapel Hill that impacted how she felt about being black and the pride that comes with it, the thoughtful conversation she had with Bravo executives prior to filming about the portrayal of Black women in tv and how Bravo was not only willing to listen but also responded positively by making an effort to diversify the film crew. This conversation is with two of the most stylish sisters I know! ARIES RISING! This week I welcome Kyle aka @therealhousewivesorders We jump right in and start talking about his book club and his awesome live reading of Gizelle's book on IG live (I would listen to him read a menu) and reading Carole Radziwill's book "What Remains" and the STARK differences of the two housewife books (including the audio readings.) Then we talk about learning how to appreciate our housewife villains and what they bring to the show (looking at you Kenya Moore) and how our minds will allow us to believe what we want to believe because we want to believe it, especially when it comes to our housewives which brings us to RHOP and Candiace Dillard and the housewife world's seeming hatred of her. We talk about the current climate we are in and the way people treat Candiace who IS a black woman, the excuses that are made for Ashley Darby and her behavior (which has been in the lower level at Ramona's home her entire time on the show), the butter knife toss heard round' the world and the way people love Porsha Williams despite her anti LGBTQ sermon (which she has apologized for via PR statement) but refuse to forgive Candiace for her tweets (that she also apologized for via PR statement) and the hypocrisy of not keeping the same energy. And we talk about Monique and her friendships on the show and their interactions (Monique & Charrisse, and Monique & Candiace and wishing they were still friends.) I am excited to share my conversation with Mallory who runs the @realhousepinsoc Instagram account and the successful Etsy shop Real House Pins OC. I first "met" Mallory in the dm's when she introduced herself, sent me her number and told me if my son or me and my family ever needed anything when we came to the OC, that her door was open. And since then, a friendship was born! In this episode we talk, dog attacks and her detective skills (Megan King Edmonds could never), the OC and what it REALLY looks like (the demographics) and close family that are on the opposite side of the aisle from us and the fascination in watching them. We talk about therapy and the stigma in different cultures, anti- depressants, the need to talk more about ADHD in adults and being careful about misdiagnosing ADHD in children.  We also get into cherry picking culture and choosing when to call people out and when not to (your favorites versus people you don't like), when you feel guilty for watching certain Bravo shows but watch others, learning not to judge what others are watching (sometimes) and racist people who love to tan (you have to see the irony.) Mallory also shares a personal experience about being stopped by a cop and I share mine...and they were the same...almost and we talk about a video that demonstrates the lives of many black Americans. We touch on how Mallory was raised not see anyone as an other, the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement and her path to becoming an ally. A Zoom date for the ages! Me and my BFF Donny from @knowthatpod call a truce on our Monique v Candiace friendly feud and have a good ole' time! We talk about Craig and his video with Tomi Loren and the way he talks around his support for Black Lives Matter and tries to pander to both sides and we discuss where we as viewers draw the lines with Bravolebrities (I suggest racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) Then we get into the Real Housewives of Potomac from the angle of a therapist (ohnobravo is an ACTUAL therapist.) We dissect the happenings AFTER the fight and some of the behind scene goings on that people don't or won't focus on (jobs being lost  and the actual horrendous on line bullying.) We talk about the way the viewers laugh at the post it notes but are ok with the musical number "Drag Her," both of which were said to be forms of therapy and understanding why the ladies may not have attended the live podcast show.We touch on the anger people have at the women for addressing how the world perceives black women as opposed to being angry at the fact that their is a real reason why the black women on this cast (and so many other black women, myself included) have had to HAVE the conversation. And speaking of Gizelle, we get right into Potomac and give our thoughts on what seems like a Gizelle v Karen fight for the spot of top housewife in the Potomac franchise, other franchises and who their HWIC (Head Wife In Charge) is, the OC and the unmitigated gall of Gina K. and her housewife run (WE ARE NOT WATCHING-this is based off of past seasons she has been on and the pictures we on social media now), we touch on RHOBH and the after show (it showed more of the sneak messiness of Kyle Richards), how they did Garcelle dirty (they didn't insert the clip of her and Lisa Rinna's conversation about her son and Lisa's daughter, but they insert clips on other franchises), Tatiana's like for Bethenny which leads us to revist Carol v Bethenny and the friendship breakdown. Then we jump BACK into RHOP and talk about Candiace and her post its, and Tatiana discusses what she (and me) think is the REAL genesis of the fight.
