There's some space wizards, some pretty good punches and kicks, and Hub pitches a comic in which Dr. Light sits in some pudding. All this, plus the grossest intro yet!

We tackle The Defenders #1. Hub discusses an episode of the Thundercats he vaguely remembers, the cops in this issue have a pretty good Hulk plan, Cory has a complicated relationship with Huey Lewis, and there are a couple of real ugly baddies. The important takeaway though, and I can't stress this enough, is that Hub is a human man from Earth.

Hey everybody, I think the sound on this one might be a little jacked. Had a ton of technical problems with the recording. The important thing is that Starfire's planet is dumb and she might have made the whole place up while looking at a spice cabinet. Hub makes a lot of dumb references to old school rap. Hub and Cory take a look at the Defenders in Marvel Feature #3, and dang it is one crazy issue! Our hosts go on (if this is even possible) more tangents than usual. There is a goofy ass space monster named Xemnu, some pie tossing Astronauts, a substitute Admiral, and Hub coins the phrase "poop-deck donnybrook". It's a real poop-deck donnybrook.

Wow. This is a weird time to put out a podcast. Perhaps there is value in distraction. I love you guys. Most of this was recorded a few days ago. Cory and Hub yammer on about soup, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and I think they mention New Teen Titans #2 in there somewhere. Some dude named Deathstroke makes his debut. It's a special spooky Halloween episode! I know, I know, it's a couple of days late, but isn't the fluidity of time the most frightening terror of all? I mean, next to werewolves. Other frights include: Dr. Strange potentially being a MRA, a second moon that's even worse than the original, and the Hulk being all hopped up on disco biscuits. Spooky!!

It's New Teen Titans #1! Hub and Cory disagree over which New Titan is the creepiest, but agree that this comic is super rad. Hub recommends the films Halloween III: Season of the Witch and Death Bed: The Bed That Eats People. Cory shows off his beautiful singing voice. Then they both talk a surprising amount of shit about the moon.

It's our first Defenders episode! Cory and Hub talk some Defenders! For a while. Then they get distracted. Good golly, it's finally here! The first episode of Titan Up The Defense! Hub and Cory tackle the New Teen Titans' first appearance in DC Comics Presents #26. There's a lot to cover, so naturally our hosts drink too much "podcast juice" and talk about how much they love "The Golden Girls" and that one Nelson video. New podcast, same old podcast.

Cory's off in Atlantis babysitting for Aquababy, so Hub is joined by Leigh Marble. They take a look at Brave and the Bold #102. There's a bit more octopus talk (although not nearly enough), we see that Bob Haney's Batman is the best Batman, and see that passive resistance works best when accompanied by punches and zip-guns.

The final issue of the Titans' original series is here! We get a ret-conned team origin that has the teens fighting their mentors. Hub talks cephalopod semantics, Aquaman makes the best pirate, and Wonder Woman has the creepiest kryptonite.

As our hosts dive into the penultimate issue of the original Titans run they discuss such topics as 70's brassiere fashions, how islands work, battle of the Kelsey Grammers, and the fact that Hub knows dangerously little about Australia. The character assassination of Aqualad continues. Sigh. The Teen Titans West set up their new HQ at an In N' Out Burger, Captain Calamity gets caught in a bubblegum placenta, and maybe Hawk isn't the worst Hall brother after all. Mostly though, it's Aqualad getting short shrift. Boo!

Hub sings a lot more in this one than he usually does. Sorry. We reconnect with some old Titans, meet a couple of new ones, and learn that Hawk has enlisted in the navy and is now a seaman. Nothing funny about that. Lots of seamen in this issue. Lots. Sorry.

Cory talks about the fact that his childhood Taekwondo instructor had a very unfortunate name. That's the main thing I remember about this episode. Judging from the cover of the comic, I guess there's probably some skateboard guys or something? Oh, and Mal gets a sweet new outfit. Seriously though, that Taekwondo instructor's name was really something.

It's our birthday! We've been doing an episode a week of Teen Titan Wasteland for a whole year now! Huh, you'd think we'd be better at it by now. We celebrate this anniversary episode by drinking too much and talking about comedia dell'arte, old possibly fictional Sega CD games, juvenile delinquent fashion trends of yesteryear, and the fact that Hub is still very frightened of Nancy Reagan. Wow! This issue might be the weirdest one yet…and it isn't even written by Bob Haney! How can this be?! An angel punches Mal in the dick, Aqualad is back, and we see the formation of a rock band that features shofar solos as the Titans face their most deadly foes yet…a sextet of middle aged hoodlums opposed to gentrification! All this, plus another installment of Hostess Fruit Pie Ad Theatre.

A new era of Teen Titans begins! Off to kind of a rocky start to be frank, but on the plus side there's a pretty sweet Hostess Fruit pie ad. So there's that.

This is a weird, dark issue. Seriously. Also, Payton Manning dies in it which is odd seeing as it came out in 1973. But, it does feature some syrup chugging, Speedy trying to milk a bull, and some pudgy demons playing volleyball. Enjoy! Enjoy!

Hoo boy. I know I've said this before, but this might be the weirdest issue yet. We've got enchanted bugs and salamanders, Wonder Girl strangles another feline, there's a giant horned skull cave in the Yucatan jungle, and we meet a rich old hobo wizard butler named Johnny Carpetbag. He's not as cool as he sounds. Also, in the synopsis Hub makes a ton of references to the one Kafka book he finished. Spoiler: it ain't 'The Castle'.

The Titans journey to the ancestral home of Mr. Jupiter (the richest and therefor most trustworthy man in the world). We learn how to double kill a racist ghost, wonder if Speedy ever eats a bowl of catsup, and find out that blows to the head may cause amnesia, shrinking, or super powers.

So what we got here is a pretty straightforward story about cryptozoology, salmon malfeasance, mind control, and Scottish mysticism. Unfortunately, our hosts had a bit too much to drink, so they mostly talk about Ian Anderson, C.H.U.D.s, and whether or not farting into a pie has ever resulted in a fatality. Yeah. It's one of those episodes. Sorry.

We're back! And so is everybody's favorite temporally displaced cave-teen, Gnarrk! Points of discussion include: Kelsey Grammer, subterranean xenophobic Native American frat guys, Werner Hertzog, and the controversial Equal Butts Act of 1970.

I know the bar has been set pretty high, but this might be the weirdest issue yet. It has it all: drugs, balloons, robots, spies, cross dressing, go-go dancing, an imitation moose antler arrow, and a hero using his telepathic control of fish to cheat on a test. But mostly, balloons.

Lordy lordy, look who's up to episode 40! It's us. We are. In this episode, we take a look at Teen Titans #36. It's a big issue with four different stories, so buckle in! We learn that Shakespeare left a bunch of stuff out of 'Romeo and Juliet', how to throw the worst birthday party ever, and how easy it is to convince Superboy you come from the future. Then it gets a little blue at the end. Sorry.

Our hosts are a bit flummoxed by this weird, cobbled together issue (which features a nine page backup story, a two page text story, and two pages of animal fun facts). We meet an evil, bullying, racist New York businessman who seems oddly familiar, discuss the viability of ruby-quartz earmuffs, and learn why you should never share silverware with an anteater.

The Titans fight off Oceanmaster and his evil alien buddies. We learn the important difference between being a bad Mofo and being an awful Mofo, our hosts wax nostalgic about an old local hair replacement commercial, and we find out that a cross between Jeff Van Gundy and Wlford Brimley is not a good look.

We got a real humdinger in this one! We see the return of an old friend (who could it be?!) and discuss Nightmare on Elm Street III: The Dream Warriors, Critters, and whether having a super punchable face counts as a superpower (I'm looking your way Ted Cruz).

We sure hope you find this issue as space as we do, but there's a fair chance that parts of it may be terry as hell. The story in this issue is a little thin, but our hosts are a bit tipsier than usual, so it all evens out. High points include giant cosmic flag burning energy bears, Cory's crash course on the Bill of Rights, and some metaphors pertaining to the edibility of metallic pies. Pretty space.

Our hosts are a bit goofier than normal in this episode. The Titans get a new member, who has got to do his own thing. We talk about Apollo Creed, Pollards (Michael and Richard), and robot gender politics.

The Titans go through some pretty heavy shit in this issue; death, alienation, a significant roster change. So naturally our hosts discuss an episode of 'Punky Brewster' Hub thinks he might have seen. Apologies to Psych majors (you'll know why when you get there).

Bob Haney is back! Hooray! Robin tries to solve every problem with trapeezing, Wonder Girl dresses up like a giant chicken, and we learn that Cory won a blowgun competition in the Amazon. Seriously. Hub recommends engaging in some Richard Kimble cosplay. Y'know, for Star Wars.

The Titans get up to some more almost entirely non-sensical extra-dimensional shenanigans, we find out Wonder Girl's origin, and Cory and Hub reveal that they both watched Videodrome when they were much too young (which is to say, ever). Also, find out what Aqualad is probably up to!

You know what's a great idea? Giving blood and then having some bourbon. What else is a great idea? A costumed superhero who is a pacifist. Hawk and Dove show up in this issue. Dove sounds like Zoidberg and I get to say robo-spidertrain a bunch of times, because it's that kind of issue. We introduce a new segment called "What's Aqualad Probably Up To?".

Kind of a weird episode in which we talk about the controversial Teen Titans #20. We end up talking more about the issue it almost was more than the actual issue. Confused? Us too. Also, I decide that during his hiatus from the team Aqualad gets a pelican sidekick named Beaky. Oh, and that Robin is actually Tom Cruise. He really is.

In which the Titans run afoul of a precocious puppet fetishist. Hub is recovering from pneumonia and has decided to use that as an excuse for not making a ton of sense. Wuss. Points of discussion: rural nightclubs, comedia dell'arte, Lanny Poffo, and four geese standing on each other's shoulders wearing a trench coat. Chalk that one up to the pneumonia.

Kind of a lame issue, so we talk about Skateman, the benefits and drawbacks of having a pelican sidekick, the Swedish Chef and his short-lived "Kroonchy Stars" breakfast cereal and the fact that werewolves may have had purple urine. Y'know, typical Teen Titans stuff.

The Mad Mod Returns! The gang heads to England, Cory doesn't understand how notes work, Aqualad and the Loch Ness Monster have a special relationship, and we discuss the plot to Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Oh, and Robin pretty much sits out this adventure. Hooray!

We're all loopy on tryptophan and Bob Haney's writing, so this one is a little hard to follow. We spend way too much time talking about the movie 'Torque' and the Hardy Boys books, and I think there's a Teen Titans story about extra-dimensional travel in there somewhere. But seriously, check out 'Torque'. It's a goddamn delight!

My favorite era of Teen Titans comics is underway! The gang heads to Hippieville USA and goes undercover as a bunch of counterculture types, which seems like it would have been the perfect opportunity to bring up the fact that Cory used to have dreadlocks, but somehow I forgot. Dang it!

Everybody hates Robin. The Boy Wonder runs afoul of the Gargoyle and pretty much everyone else as the Titans see the return of an old foe…sort of. Join us as we learn the benefits of narcissism, sociopathy, and having a magic ring shaped like your own head.

It's a Christmas/Halloween Spooktacular! The Titans give us their take on 'A Christmas Carol', so naturally we talk about Cory's ongoing battle with the animal kingdom and Hub's misremembered Wyclef Jean lyrics.

The Mad Mod! Robot barracudas and and a far too long debate about "houndstooth" abound as the Titans take a Rock & Roll whirlwind tour of Europe. We might have flown to close to the liquor sun on this one and it may have melted the wax on our wings of coherence. Which is to say, much like this metaphor, this episode got away from us a little.

Beast Boy guest stars! We meet the shittiest Beastmaster, learn that Robin assumes his experiences are universal (I mean, we're all acrobats, right?) and discuss the hypnotic powers of various primates. Enjoy! Enjoy!
