Ep 100 - Will Sasso Joins Me for the Final Helping: Episode 100!

Mightys, we have reached the end. After two years and 100 episodes of Might Have Help-ing, I’ve decided to bring the pod to an end. And you know what? I didn’t tell my guest Will Sasso! Why? Because he would have surely cried. Will is an old friend and someone I’ve always looked up to comedically/performance-wise. He’s also one of those notoriously kind guys you hear about here and there in this Biz-buzzy town, so he was (and is) the ideal final guest. We went long on this one, not because it’s the last episode, but because it was so damn fun. I could talk to Will for hours and hours until he politely but firmly asks me to get off his porch (he lives near me). Listen, enjoy, and thanks for the memories. I sincerely can’t thank everyone who listened, enjoyed, and especially called in, enough. Stay positive, friends, and let’s listen to each other’s problems. It really, really might help. Ep 99 - Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger are Here to Help!

This episode I got not one, but two guests who need no introduction. You know Patton from his legendary stand-up-that-led-to-other-insanely-cool-stuff career, and Meredith from her rise from child star to voice and screen actress and writer. What a get! Though Patton and I go way back, I’d only met Meredith once, so this was two of my favorite kinds of shows (in one!): 1) Catching up with an old friend, and 2) Learning about a person I find interesting but don’t know that well. Score! We talked marriage, parenthood, the crazy business of show, offensiveness, and so much more. The calls were epic, we laughed, we did not cry. This episode has it all! Ep 98 - Scott Wampler Is Here To Help!

Scott Wampler is a writer/podcaster/superfan-made-good who I first became aware of on Twitter, the best place to make friends in the world. A funny, self-effacing, yet scathing critic of cinema and fan of low art, the two of us hit it off immediately when I came on his podcast. That podcast? The mega-popular “The Kingcast,” based entirely around the works of Stephen King. On each episode, the guest chooses one of Mr. King’s works to discuss. I’m very proud that I got to talk about the movie Creepshow, one of the best (and most fun) horror movies of all time, when my time came. Scott and I talked about post-covid lockdown life, being true to your mental health by giving yourself space, and (most importantly) canned bread. Yep! You read that right. We had a fun, fun time and you will too. Thanks, Mightys! Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 97 - Atsuko Okatsuka is Here to Drop it, and to Help!

Lately, you might have heard of something called the Drop Challenge. People taking a sexy look towards the camera, then dropping to a “hot squat” (my term) slowly towards the ground. Heck, the cast of SNL did it recently. Well, it was created by today’s guest Atsuko Okatsuka, a gifted, engaging comedian and friend of mine. Atsuko is somebody who comes across as eternally happy and optimistic, but she’s had her share of trauma and strife, both personal and familial. She’s made a series of dance videos online that involve her husband and grandmother, often in public places. If you haven’t seen them, look them up now if you like delightful things. She was a blast to have on, and gave incredible advice to the callers. Check it out, as we drop it. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 96- Jonah Ray Rodrigues is Here to Make Fun/Help!

Jonah is an old friend from when I first moved to Los Angeles. I’ll never forget driving us both to a brutally shitty show WAY far away from where either of us lived. We both had good sets, mostly because the situation was so insane. For example: The stage was a small wooden box with carpeting stapled to it (!). After sharing such a stage, we had no choice to become lifelong friends. Since then he’s gone on to co-host and produce “The Meltdown” on Comedy Central and has been the new host of “Mystery Science Theater 3000” for a few years now. He even had the sense to stop doing stand-up comedy (or, as I would put it, he graduated lol). I’ve been meaning to have him on for a minute and this episode did not disappoint. In fact, after we taped it, we texted each other throughout the day about how we kept thinking of it. Listen and see why! Ep 95 - Brian Simpson

Brian Simpson is a comic I love/hate to follow at my home club, The Comedy Store. He’s deadpan, hilarious, writes great jokes, and is fearless in what he says. I’m MAYBE two or three of those things, so going up after him makes me work (always a good thing for your growth, sometimes not the most fun at the time). We didn’t know each other, but I knew I had to get him on the show. The timing was perfect, as he’s recently gotten a lot of well-earned shine, appearing on Netflix’s “The Stand-Ups” to rave reviews. Brian was a perfect guest for TMH, because he brought a wealth of experience. He was in the army, was homeless for a time, and now makes his living as a stand-up comedian and writer. That, my friends, is what you call perspective! We had a lot of fun on this one, and I learned a lot about my new friend Brian. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 94 - Kyle Buchanan is Here to Help with The Fury of Your Road!

If the bars of Eastern Los Angeles could talk, the tales they would tell of me and the two Kyles (Buchanan and Kinane). Kinane, as you might know, and I moved to LA from Chicago together. Back in the early 2000s, we bounced around drinking our way through LA with writer Kyle Buchanan. It was a fun, fun time. Kyle B and I haven’t talked much since, but he’s become quite the success, becoming the head columnist for The Projectionist at The New York Times. He’s got a new book out about the stone cold classic “Fury Road” called “Blood, Sweat, and Chrome” that I’m reading now, and absolutely loving. You should get it if you like cool stuff. It was an absolute blast catching up with Kyle and answering advice for strangers. Listen now! Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 93 - Beth Lapides Says You Need to Decide to Get Help!

Beth Lapides gave a stage to pretty much any comic you’ve ever liked from the alt-comedy scene in Los Angeles. Patton Oswalt, Dana Gould, Janeane Garafalo, the list goes on and on. Her show Un-Cabaret was, and is, legendary for letting unique artists explore their perspectives in front of a rapt audience. I’ve even done it! It’s spectacular. Beth is also a performer herself, as well as a writer and teacher. She’s even got a new audiobook out now called “You Need to Decide.” We got into things on this episode, Mightys! The insight was huge, but so were the laughs. Listen and enjoy, because I sure did. Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 92 - Ricky Velez Thinks Helping is Selfish, But He'll Do it For You!

Ricky Velez is one of the funniest comedians out there, and he’s only, like, 32? He’s written on a ton of shows, is currently on a tour headlining all the best hard-for-a-comic-to-break-into comedy clubs, and most recently opened for Hasan Minaj at Radio City Music Hall (!!). He’s also married with a three-year-old boy who, he tells me, is hilarious. On top of that, though he smokes weed, he’s quit drinking. Ricky is a NYC fixture. Though, after his wife was attacked on the street, they decamped to Miami after a while. We talked about various subjects, and he brought his sardonic wit to that conversation and the great calls we got this week (Thanks, Mightys!). Listen and see how wrong we might have been. Ep 91 - Your Host is Here to Help, by Himself!

We got another solo episode, Mightys. As the longtime listeners (Mightys, You) know, these pop up here and there because, well, they’re fun. Typically, I like to have a partner on to whack the ping-pong ball with, but occasionally I like to do it myself. I’m about to get back on the road soon, which means I’ll be doing exactly that, but onstage. Doing eps like this one helps keep me on my feet, so thanks for your indulgence. However, this will be no chore! We’ve got fun, gags, and amazing calls. Listen, judge my solo advice, call me an idiot (or not), and enjoy! Ep 90 - Lisa Tozzi is Here to Edit Your Problems Down to Nothing!

Lisa Tozzi is the Digital Editor for Rolling Stone magazine, former of Buzzfeed, and before that The New York Times. As I learned on the show, even she can’t believe it. Her first big story was the election of 2000. Remember that sh*tshow? She’s covered huge story after huge story since. A friend of a friend, I was delighted when she agreed to come on the show and offer advice. We got along great and have a similar outlook on life. That is, you have to adapt as you go, and certainty is often the most uncertain thing of all. I always have fun doing This Might Help, but this episode really flew by. Take a listen and try, just try, to have as good a time as we did. Thanks, Mightys! Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 89 - Billy Wayne Davis is a Wild Man Here to Help!

I call Billy a wild man because he’s got that crazy southerner look in his eye onstage, but he’s actually a down-to-earth normal guy who says crazy stuff onstage. I’m not sure when we met, but when we did we clicked right away. One reason I have so many comedian friends on the show (other than I know so many) is that they’ve lived a lot of lives. BWD has been on a road a long time, but had the sense to get his life in order, and is a good father to his kids. In my line of work, that’s saying a lot. A warning: This episode went long. Another warning: It’s hilarious and we got into, well, EVERYTHING. We even broke my kinda rule of “Don’t talk current events,” if you can believe it. Light this one up and pass it around, Mightys. Ep 88 - Jason Shapiro, Founder of Los Feliz Daycare, is Here to Help!

Jason Shapiro is a comedy writer/performer who struck gold with a parody account of a fake day care in the hipster-affluent neighborhood of Los Feliz (Editor’s note: I live there lol). Google “Los Feliz Day Care” right now and find his twitter and Instagram account for it. Glorious, very funny, and dead on. As he told me in this episode, the idea came when he was a writer’s assistant. He learned that one of the writers, whose child went to a day care in LF, got a LETTER FOR SENDING THEIR CHILD WITH WHITE BREAD IN THEIR LUNCH. THEIR LUNCH! NOT ONE FOR THE OTHER PARENTS’ KIDS! Lololololol. He took the idea and ran with it, and it’s been going strong since 2014. A new father himself, the account has taken on a new meaning as he navigates parenthood in Los Angeles. It was fun getting to know him on TMH. And, as a special bonus, he came on the show as the founder of LFDC, dreadlock wig and all! He answered the calls both as himself and as his character. This episode is a gas. Listen, enjoy, and tell your friends! Thanks, Mightys. Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 87 - River Butcher is a Different Kind of Dude for Helping!

River Butcher is one of the funniest comics out there today and an old friend. He’s also someone who, when I first met him, had a different name and a different pronoun. Hence the title of his new special “A Different Kind of Dude.” We’ve done shows, festivals, and even TV together, and he’s always been a fun and insightful person. THAT STOPS NOW! I’m kidding. We got into everything from why LBGTQ people only get expected to talk about gay stuff, how really nobody knows how to navigate show biz, and even the best way to hide a fart. As always, calls are secret so LISTEN AND ENJOY! Thanks, Mightys! And check out River’s special, dropping TODAY on Comedy Central’s YouTube page. Ep 86 - Laura Leigh Abby is a Lot of Things, Including Here to Help!

Laura Leigh Abby is a mom, wife, writer, TV personality and many other things. In fact, when we connected online I noticed a bunch of spin bikes behind her. She was recording from her fitness studio, of course! You might know her from her stint on the show “Newlyweds” on Bravo TV, or from her writing, but you’re about to know her from her new podcast, Seventeen. In it, Laura will have a VO actor read from HER ACTUALY HIGH SCHOOL DIARY and HAVE THE ACTUAL LIVING PEOPLE SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT on the show to comment. That, my friends, is what the old folks call “Having some sand.” Laura and I really connected on a lot of levels and this is a great one for anybody who doesn’t know where they fit, are married, aren’t, or do or don’t have kids (LOL everyone). Ep 85 - Kyle Kinane is Here to Not Help! Part Two

Well, this is a first my Mightys. Typically I gotta scramble to get calls per episode. Partly because it’s hard to get people fans aware that they’re on an advice podcast and they can CALL THEM DIRECT, party because NO ONE MAKES PHONE CALLS ANYMORE. Which, you know, I get. When I get a phone call from a friend my immediate thought is, oh shit, who died? Lol! Anyway, THIS episode we got SO MANY CALLS that we did TWO EPISODES! Thankfully, my brother was game. So here, I give you PART TWO of UNCLE BBQ! Again, I will not spoil this by giving you even an inkling of the calls. Enjoy! Ep 84 - Kyle Kinane is Here to Not Help! Part One

You asked for it, you got it, Mightys. My brother, Uncle BBQ himself, joins me on This Might Help with Matt Braunger. Kyle and I started out together in Chicago, driving around in his massive Grand Marquis through the snow to bomb in front of crowd after crowd. When it came time to move to LA, we did it together. And you know the rest. When I say you’re in for a treat, I mean you’re in for your very own wedding cake on this one. Once Kyle realized we didn’t have to give very good advice we were off to the races. We caught up, riffed, gave horrible (maybe not) advice, and had a blast. You will too.  THE CALLS:  Guys, there were SO many, we had to do TWO EPISODES! And I don’t want to spoil any of them. Pass this one around like a fatty, Mightys! And enjoy. Here it is, folks. The last episode of This Might Help of the year. I had to do it alone, just for you. All calls, write-ins, etc, answered entirely by me, your host and favorite dum-dum. This was surprisingly fun as all hell. Ep 82 - Ali Vingiano is Here to Write/Produce/Star/Help!

I didn’t know Ali before we recorded this episode, but now we’re tight as a drum. Not really, but boy did we bond over things, especially anxiety! Ali is probably best known for writing and producing The Morning Show on Apple +, but she’s about to be known as an actor, starring in the new film The End of Us. All of this gave her amazing perspective on the calls. She’s great! Listen in, enjoy, and subscribe. Ep 81 - John Ross Bowie is a Real Actor Really Here to Help!

First off, it’s pronounced Bow (as in “Bow down”)-wee, not like David Bowie. I gotta say that right off the bat because no one pronounces my name right either. Also, we’re both real actors, me and him. Lol! Actually, John is much more the real deal than I am, but hey, he might object. The cool thing about my biz is that everybody (who’s not a dick) is like, “I can’t do what you do!” to the thing they’re not. Actors are like “I couldn’t be a stand-up!” and stand-ups are like “How the hell do you memorize lines?” Anyway, we get along in the end. John is best known for his parts on Speechless and The Big Bang Theory, but has been on a ton of other stuff. This episode was really special because he did it from inside his car. Now, I’m not saying he’s living in it and he’s having family trouble, but you can (No, don’t). This was a fun one, enjoy! THE CALLS: 1) A nice lady without a lot of options hates her job, doesn’t have a lot of joy, and wants some change. Help! 2) Leann has a question: Is online dating even worth it?? 3) A series of write-ins that I won’t spoil here. Thank me later! Love you, Mightys. Ep 80 - Jackie Kashian Has Advice From the Road, and Her Heart!

Longtime traveling comedian lady Jackie Kashian is on the show this week and I couldn’t be happier. No one is nice, funnier, or more grateful for everything she has than Jackie. She’s one of those comics that every comic likes, and her mile-a-minute delivery is near and dear to my heart (as I also talk very fast onstage). Jackie’s seen it all, and it was so fun to chop it up with her and talk about old times versus the new. We’re both on the road, both staying safe, both married, both terrified. We have a lot in common! THE CALLS: 1) A man has a culinary question FOR THE AGES!! 2) Jason Leonard from Lafayette asks, “What’s so wrong with transition lenses?” What does he mean, listen and learn! 3) A man calls with a convoluted question that defies reason! Enjoy, Mightys. Thanks for listening and for telling your friends. Go see Jackie on tour and check out her new joint, “Stay-Kashian”! Ep 79 - Christian Duguay Helps and Brings the Valley Heat!

I have a massive amount of respect for anybody who makes a scripted podcast. The planning, the creative effort, and the execution can be brutal. There are a lot of them that I like, but Christian Duguay’s brilliant Valley Heat is one that I love. I’m biased, as I’m a voice on it, but I was a fan way before that happened. Valley Heat is one of those podcasts that, once you listen to an episode, you’re hooked. The story of Doug, who broadcasts his podcast from his garage in Burbank and talks only about his life, is gut-busting in its simplicity. Christian and I have been friends a long time, and it was fun to talk about his podcast, catch up on each other’s lives, and offer what might be horrible advice to strangers. THE CALLS: 1) Lars has a parent who is convinced they were abducted by aliens. How to deal? 2) Lauren from Baltimore hates her job, and you just HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE REST IT’S AMAZING. 3) Caller asks, “How do you motivate yourself to do anything when you just want to do nothing?” THAT IS THE QUESTION! Ep 78 - Jared Goldstein Doesn't Want to Help but Will!

I first became aware of young comic Jared Goldstein when (back in the dark ages of the lockdown) he and I were both on the same bill of a zoom comedy show. Not sure if you know, but they really sucked ass. However, he had a really good set, and I was like, “Who’s this guy?” Fast forward a year, and he’s just been named one of Vulture’s “21 Comics You Should and Will Know.” I knew he was funny, but what I didn’t know is that he’s a former child actor. We talked rejection, being bitter or not, online action, and plenty more. Really dug having him on, not only because he was funny and a great guy, but because I think we really annoyed his roommate.  THE CALLS:  1) A man’s wife has died and now he’s in a secret relationship with her sister. What to do? TES THIS IS A REAL CAR OH MY GOD  2) A caller can’t stop getting random boners in the pool. Help!  3) A 24-year-old says he jumps into relationships too fast. Any advice on dating? Also, he might want something fun, also instead maybe something long term? JESUS! Listen in, Mightys! It’s a fun ride. Ep 77 - Your Dad Chad Daniels is Here to Help!

Chad Daniels aka Dad Chaniels has raised three kids and he’s around my age. Seriously. I’m just getting started, and he’s retired lol. Chad had ‘em young, and moved to a place he could afford to raise them (aka NOT NYC or LA). Long story short, it worked out. Chad has a massive, rapid fan base who eat up anything he puts out. I’ve rarely had a better reaction than when I announced he was coming on the show. An added plus is that he’s an old friend and a peach of a man. We two dads had a blast on this one.  THE CALLS:  1) a man asks Chad and me, “How do you choose what to repair on your car/house/etc, and what you hire someone to fix?”  2) Erica, since she was a little girl, has been called Eric by others. WTF to do?  3) Jackson, a fellow dad, asks, “What’s your opinion on imposter syndrome, as a creative?”  4) John asks, “COULD YOU GUYS SING MY WIFE HAPPY BIRTHDAY?” Do we do it?? Ep 76 - Will Miles of Southside Comes to the Helpside!

Will Miles is a comedian, friend, and drinking buddy of mine. We also both have daughters the exact same age, so we often have that “Can you believe this shit?” moment together. Recently we took our kids trick or treating for the first time, and before that we spent a weekend in the desert with our families. You might think we have nothing left to talk about, but you’d be wrong. Will is a comedian married to another comedian (the also hilarious Giulia Rozzi) and writes/act on the insanely funny TV show Southside. We talked our childhoods, comedy today, parenthood, failure, and other light topics for your drive to work.  THE CALLS:  1) A nice guy who just got married put the reception aside to save money for a house, but would still like the have one. The problem: His friends live nearby, hers do not. She suggests just having one for his friends. Is that okay?  2) Another guy who just got married is going to Japan for six months. How to keep in touch and keep the anxiety down?  3) Caller asks, how is it married to a comedian? Enjoy your drive, don’t crash, and watch Southside. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 75 - Hannah Einbinder is Here to Cheer (You On)!

Former cheerleader (yep, it’s true) Hannah Einbiner blew the f%*k up in the biz. My pal Dana Gould told me she was a funny stand-up, and I said, “Ok cool, I’ll check her out.” No sooner did we have that exchange than she landed a huge role on the HBO show “Hacks.” She plays Ava, the reluctant writer/protégé to Jean Smart’s Joan Rivers-like Deborah Vance. It’s heavy lifting for any actor, but Hannah pulls it off. It’s been cool watching someone so nice and funny go so far so soon, and it was fun to have her on the pod. She’s great, and I learned a ton about her life, outlook, and processes.  THE CALLS:  1) A (fellow) bisexual gal asks, “Can you find fulfilment in a relationship with just one gender?” (Spoiler alert: I answer this one for her) (KIDDING!)  2) A lady feels like her mom’s sadness is dragging her down. How does she further herself when her mom won’t?  3) We did a speed round of ‘Written in’ calls. Tune in and listen! Thanks, Mightys. Hope you enjoy. Ep 74 - Colin Mochrie Makes it Up as He Goes Along While Helping!

Colin Mochrie is a National Tresure, and I’m not using hyperbole. If you don’t believe me, look at my Instagram page from when I announced he’d be on the show. Like always, I posted a picture of my upcoming guest… and everyone reacted with HOLY CRAP I THOUGHT YOU WERE SAYING HE WAS DEAD WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?? Do what? Post a picture? It made me realize that when we really, really love someone and see a picture of them out of nowhere, we think the worst. Says a lot about the times we live in! Anway, Colin’s work on Whose Line is it Anyway? Is legend. The man can think on his feet like no one else. So who better for a show where we listen to calls we’ve never heard and give off-the-cuff advice? I cannot tell you how fun this was, or how much fun you’ll have listening to it. THE CALLS: 1) Jay asks for the best way to maintain motivation in dating! 2) A fan of Colin AND ME asks for advice in starting out in comedy. We get this one a lot, but allowed it through, because Colin. 3) A man, calling from the toilet, asks what he can use besides toilet paper (??!!). Enjoy, Mightys! Colin is the KING. Ep 73 - Josh Johnson is Calm, Wise, and Has Me Fooled About That (but is Here to Help!)

Josh Johnson is a great joke writer, comedian, and person based out of New York City. Also, solid work ethic. Writing on The Daily Show all day and putting in sets at night sounds, and maybe it’s because I’m a dad, exhausting. You wouldn’t know it to meet him, though. He’s funny, thoughtful, and full of energy. Wait, hold on, he’s just young! Lol. We got into it on this one, and got to know each other better along the way. Great times. THE CALLS: 1) A nice comedian named AJ (who lives “in the middle of nowhere”) says his friend wants to visit NYC to do comedy. The problem: He’s not ready. What to do? 2) A 26-year-old man asks, “Other than Nashville, where’s a good spot to get going in comedy?” 3) A written in one! Top secret, you gotta listen to hear. Ep 72 - Dave Schilling Has Taste and is Willing to Help!

Dave Schilling is a writer, a comic, a journalist, and will argue with you about whether he is actually the last two things. He writes for the New Yorker, and writes an amazing fashion column for the LA Times. He’s also a James Bond expert and, between the two of us, knows who the NEXT ONE SHOULD BE! This ep was taped from a hotel room in Fort Worth, Texas and it made my day. THE CALLS: 1) A man asks, “How do you deal with a know-it-all?” 2) A second time caller (who formerly called in to ask if HE SHOULD ASK his friend to do a podcast with him) asks, “How do you get started with a podcast?” 3) MY PRODUCER RENE CALLED IN!!! EP- 71 - James Adomian Helps out with So Many Voices! Live at Moontower Fest in Austin

James Adomian is a man of many, many voices. A comedian by trade, he’s known for his incredible impressions of people like Bernie Sanders, Vincent Price, Jesse Ventura, and Mike “My Pillow” Lindell. When they sent over the list of comedians available to guest on my Live from Moontower TMH, his name jumped off the page. It was the very first show of the entire festival (no pressure), but I think we killed it (not to brag).  THE CALLS:  1) A male caller asks Bernie Sanders, “What do you do in a small town that’s predominantly conservative, but you’re not?”  2) Drake is having trouble getting to his lady, and asks Macho Man Randy Savage to help.  3) A very drunk woman asks, “What the fuck is with people walking wherever the fuck they want?” A perfect dismount!  This episode is definitely in the top five we’ve ever done. Ep 70 - Adam Cayton Holland is Here to Help, Live in Denver!

My friend Adam Cayton-Holland is a king of Denver comedy, as both the founder of the High Plains Festival and a member of the three-man comedy troupe the Grawlix. The Grawlix created, sold, wrote, and starred in the often slept-on but brilliant teacher comedy Those Who Can’t. Adam worked in Los Angeles, but never left Denver, and he lives there today with his wife and two kids. He was a no-brainer as a guest when the High Plains Festival asked me to do my podcast while I was there, and he did not disappoint.  THE CALLS:  1) My friend Justin called in from Massachusetts to ask, how do I not raise a toxic boy (He and his wife are expecting)?  2) A nice non-binary person asks, should I shave my head?  3) A fellow Denver comic who’s fallen on hard times has moved in with his parents and needs encouragement. Help!  4) A fellow fan asks, what are our memories of the late great Norm McDonald? Listen and enjoy, Mightys! Ep 69 - Rosebud Baker Uses Her Whiskey Fists to Help!

Rosebud Baker has a new special out called “Whiskey Fists,” which is odd because she’s been sober for years, and I’ve never seen her hit anyone. Not that it matters. What does matter is that she’s one of the best joke writers out there, has an undeniable stage presence, and has been through a lot in her life. She was a perfect TMH guest, as you’ll soon learn. We had so much fun, got to be better friends, and shared some brutal childhood experiences. Hooray! THE CALLS: 1) A guy asks, what’s the proper etiquette for tipping on, say, a shot that costs $100? 2) A guy asks “When do you know your jokes (he means pranks) have gone too far?” Because evidently his wife now wants a divorce. Ummm… 3) A teacher asks, how do you get to the truth with kids when a lot of parents don’t want it? Listen and enjoy, My Mightys! And watch Rosebud’s special. Ep 68 - Chris Garcia is my Girl Daddy Bud and He's Here to Help!

Comedian Chris Garcia grew up in Los Angeles, started out doing comedy in the Bay Area, and now lives here again. In fact, he and his wife live with their baby daughter Sunny in my old apartment! When he moved to the neighborhood he texted me the address and said, “Is this a nice area?” I texted back, “That’s my house!” We were good friends before but now we’re super tight, especially as we both have baby ladies to raise while telling dick jokes onstage. As we recorded this, we were both two days from a major “Billions”-watching party in which us and our wives drank all the wine and some of the mezcal. Oy very!  THE CALLS:  1) Billy asks about NFTs. What are they? Should he invest?  2) A man asks whether the SoCal home market will crash anytime soon.  3) A lady, newly back on the dating scene asks, what do we think of ghosting? Acceptable or not?  4) A nice fella asks, long hair or short?  Thanks, Mightys! Enjoy. Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 67 - Dave Anthony Brings a Dollop of Help!

Dave Anthony’s podcast The Dollop, with Gareth Reynolds, is an internationally popular podcast that I find hilarious. As I say during this episode, the two-part one they did about Ronald Reagan, is maybe the hardest I’ve ever laughed at a podcast. Dave started out as a stand-up and moved into writing, becoming an actor along the way (He was Marc’s a-hole best friend in the television series “Maron”). It was fun to talk to this hilarious dad, and he was great at the advice game.  THE CALLS:  1) A guy called in to say he got blocked online “By a left-liberal…” I think he means Dave!  2) Sarah from New Jersey just got back from Hawaii and her husband “was being a real dickhead.” What should she do?  3) Claie O’Kane, a hilarious friend of ours, wonders if she should try for Irish citizenship if things get really bad here.  Hmmm….. Thanks, Mightys! Love ya. Check for me at the live The Dollop at High Plains Festival AND my live This Might Help! Ep 66 - Sam Tallent is Running the Light to Help!

I’ve been a big fan of Sam Tallent for many years, so it’s great to finally have him on the show. A hilarious comic and writer, Sam is hard to miss from his large size and many, many tattoos. A force onstage, he’s also a kind and humble guy with a lot of perspective. So, like so many of my guests, he’s terrible for this show. Jokes!  THE CALLS:  1) Max Beasley, a comic we know, called in about his dad getting remarried. See, his mom doesn’t know about it. Should he tell her?  2) A lady asks if she should go to her brother’s wedding reception, as he is a dick. Help!  3) A man asks, is it okay to take your vitamins with a beer? Thanks, Mightys! EP 65 - Shane Torres Has a Million Nicknames, and Also Helps a Million!

Shane Torres started doing comedy in Portland, Oregon after moving there from Fort Worth, Texas. He’s incredibly funny, and also one of the kindest and realest people I’ve ever known. That makes him terrible to be on the pod, but oh well (JOKE!). Shane blew up on the national scene when his joke about Guy Fieri went viral, and for good reason. It’s a monster. Shane used to open for me on the road, and I miss having him around. It was great to have him on the show, not only to help THE MIGHTYS, but also to see him again. THE CALLS: 1) A man has a chance to move where he wants to live, but they won’t pay him enough to live comfortably there. Worth it, or should he stay put? 2) A guy’s first comedy show in two years is coming up. WHAT SHOULD BE WEAR?? 3) A caller wants to know, when is it too fast (or too slow) to move in with someone? Asking for a him. We also added a speed round in which I read some Qs given to me for Shane on my IG feed. Enjoy! Ep 63 - Caleb Hearon is Here to Help, but Not the Gardender!

Caleb is a comedian/internet sensation/lifestyle expert, IMO. I first learned of him when a friend showed me his videos on twitter, all of which are gut-bustingly funny and very different than anyone else’s. Right before we started recording, Caleb said he heard I was in Provincetown. I said “Yeah, I was,” and he said, “It’s cool that you like gay people, but I don’t” (Caleb is gay). We got into doing comedy today, drinking or not drinking, annoying people with kids (not me), and way more. ALSO, the man we have come by and trim the yard ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS FOR AN HOUR came by during the show. SO, a lot of time was spent with me running from room to room, him inadvertently following me from outside, and Caleb cracking up. Fun! (It really was) THE CALLS: 1) A nice person doesn’t want to tell their friends how hard things have been, but want them to know. What to do? 2) A nice Mighty called in to ask how to break up with her therapist…. Who frankly sucks HOW? 3) A 35-year-old comedian wants HELP!!! But he’s fine, right? Ep 62 - James Austin Johnson is Here to Help, and so are Louis CK? And Bobby Flay? And TRUMP??

James was nice enough to open for me in Brea a couple weeks ago, and we got to know each other better on the drive there and back from LA. He comes from a staunch religious background, is married with a child on the way, and is hilarious. Lately he’s become known for his spot-on impressions, especially of the guy who most recently lost the presidential election. When James opened for me he did that impression and went off on a rant about Star Trek that killed so hard I went, “Hoo boy, now I REALLY gotta be funny tonight.” It gave me an idea: Have James on the pod, but ask him to not only give advice as himself……. Yep. You get it. THE CALLS: 1) A artist can’t stop hoarding art he maybe should get rid of…. Like paintings of ex-girlfriends. HELP! (Bobby Flay), 2) A fella is in love with his best friend who doesn’t feel the same way. Again, WHAT TO DO? (Louis CK) 3) An incredibly horny man jacks off several times a day. How to talk to a girl? (Donald Trump. WHO ELSE?!). Listen, learn, and enjoy, Mightys! Also, come see me on tour starting Aug. 19th: mattbraunger.com/tour for dates. Ep 61 - Rick Overton is Here to Teach and Help!

Rick Overton is a comic I’ve looked up to for a long time. He’s hilarious, he has an amazing perspective born of a long and storied career, and he’s optimistic. The last part of that fascinates me, because it’s something I’ve been grappling with a lot lately. Everything around us, news-wise, seems to veer towards being a shitshow, and it’s hard to hold on to hope. Before I had Rick on, I was reminded of a bit he had about laughing in the face of death. Doing that, he asserted, robs death and darkness of their power. Looking back, it wasn’t even a bit as much as him making a point before he started his jokes. Anyway, it stuck with me. It was a blast to have Rick on, and our conversation veered hilariously all over the place. I was in a rental house in Provincetown holed up in the bathroom recording this episode. Listen and find out why! THE CALLS: 1) A guy who lost his father says his wife wants him to move to another state so she can be closer to her best friend. The problem? Neither of them have any other friends or contacts there. WORTH IT? 2) A young fella can’t imagine going out without ketomine in his system. Is there a way to get rid of THE URGE? 3) A lady asks, HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED DOING SIMPLE TASKS? 4) A guy asks, IS IT OKAY FOR A GROWN WOMAN TO BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS? Ooooooooooooookaaaaaaaaaay. Ep 60 - Trevor Moore Will Catfish You... to Help!

Trevor Moore is probably best known for his work with The Whitest Kids You Know, a hugely popular sketch group who had a TV show and still perform together today. I broke into clubs in New York City opening for them way back in 2007/8, and it was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had. Trevor has gone on to do specials, a talk show, and even a children’s show that he cast me on as a goofy dad. Stick with the talented friends, kids!! This episode went way longer than most, mostly because we kept riffing and cracking each other up, but also because we were catching up after the longest time. Fun! THE CALLS: 1) A lady HATES her boss, but loves the money. Worth leaving her job?? 2) Mark in Florida wants to start a bakery. WHAT SHOULD HE CALL IT? 3) A guy who “just wants to get his thang on… because I’m lonely” wants to meet a girl and NOT GET CATFISHED. HELP, TREVOR! 4) Scooter from Bushwick wants to know if we have any advice on trying acid for the first time. DO WE EVER!! Listen, like, subscribe, and go see me on tour! Thanks, Mightys! Ep 59 - Demi Adejuyigbe Helps Four People Instead of Three! Genius!

Demi Adejuyigbe and I have at least one thing in common: No one knows how to say our last names. I first learned of Demi back when I was a frequent guest on @Midnight on Comedy Central, when he was a writer and online content-creator for the show. The stuff he makes, especially the musically based-stuff, was so way out and funny it blew me away. We’ve been something like distant friends for a while now, and I always post how it is a travesty that this man does not have his own TV show (he just writes on them). Seriously, google his stuff and watch it. Holy shit, right? This ep was a fun one that’ll make your day fly by.  THE CALLS:  1) A lady’s roommate doesn’t want to renew the lease. SHOULD SHE MOVE OUT AND STUDY OVERSEAS??  2) Demi’s friend Grace called in to ask: HOW DO YOU REVIEW FRIEND’S WORKS OF ART (tough one!)?  3) A nursing student working 12-hour shifts asks, how do I not be dead on my feet by the end (tougher one)?  4) A guy alone in a new town asks, HOW DO I MAKE FRIENDS (the toughest one!)? Ep 58 - Left Handed Radio

I’d never met these guys, but I’d heard their work and became an instant fan. If you’ve never heard of Left Handed Radio, look it up, and you’re welcome. Doing an episode like this was an absolute joy, because we literally became fast friends as we talked/gave advice. Full disclosure: I was in a hotel room in NYC while we recorded, and it was over 100 degrees outside, so you can hear the sweet relief in my voice from the air conditioning. This ep went a little long, but only because we had a damn blast. THE CALLS: 1) A nice fella asks the ultimate question: HOW DO YOU DISCOVER YOUR PASSION? Wow. 2) A man’s wife got a bad haircut during the lockdown, and he got a good one. Now she’s mad at him. What to do? 3) A heavy-drinkin’ guy wants to know, how to get a girlfriend, and is it even worth it? LISTEN, JUDGE, AND SUBSCRIBE! Thanks, Mightys. Ep 57 - Pete Lee and I are on the Bathroom Wall, Helping!

Comedian Pete Lee and I always see each other in the bathroom. The comedy club bathroom, that is. Every time one of us is on the road, and taking a leak, we see each other’s faces in the “upcoming comedians” ads the clubs place above the urinals. It’s a real honor. Pete is super funny, and a super nice guy, BUT WE’VE NEVER ACTUALLY HUNG OUT! This episode was an awesome one, because I got to know somebody I felt like I already knew, but didn’t. Turns out he’s more than a smiling face above the pisser. Who knew?! THE CALLS: 1) Michelle from Morro Bay, California has a hilarious question. LISTEN TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS! 2) A heavy-drinkin’ fan wants to know, HOW DOES HE CUT DOWN? 3) A guy who’s about to lose his job asks, HOW DO I MAINTAIN COMPOSURE AND NOT FREAK OUT? Thanks, Mightys! Ep 56 - Dan Cummins Has Done it All, and Now He’s Helping YOU!

Dan Cummins is, as they say, a self-made man. Your average Joe might not call him famous, but he has a massive fan base both for his stand-up and for his several podcasts. He also lives in a small town in Idaho with his wife and kids, the living anti-embodiment of the “You have to live in LA or NY to be a successful comic” BS. Want to know something else? He’s a real dick. Kidding! Dan is one of the kindest, most warm-hearted joke-slingers I’ve ever known. We had a ton of fun helping people with their problems (we hope). THE CALLS: 1) A young fella wants to get into stand-up and WAIT FOR IT eventually start his own comedy club. Help? 2) A nice lady has come out to her husband a Bi after ten years. Ep 55 - Kurt Braunohler Helps, and Drinks!

Kurt Braunohler and I have been friends since, what, 2006 I’d say? We ran around NYC and Los Angeles, drinking and doing comedy, as well as in several festivals. What always struck me was that he was adventurous to a fault. Like, he was always down for a good time and to explore. I think that’s what made him a great dad. He now has two daughters, I have one, and we have a wife each. What a country! Kurt took some time out from his busy schedule of doing his podcast Bananas and raising two kids to help out three Mightys. THE CALLS: 1) A nice lady has a landlord who wants to CUT HER APARTMENT IN HALF to make two units, and is mad that she’s pushing back. What to do? 2) Another nice lady DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO ADULT! Ep 54 - Wayne Federman Stands Up to Help!

Wayne is one of those guys I’ve looked up to for a long time, and a great example of positive reinvention. They say “Do what you love,” and he’s certainly done that with stand-up. What they should also say is “Study the history of what you love.” Wayne has a podcast, and now a book, called “The History of Standup.” We talked about the art, how it’s affected our lives, the history, and even my old scene full of bozos back in Chicago. Wayne is so fun. Great episode! THE CALLS: 1) Recently coming out as trans, our first caller asks: WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO GET INTO IMPROV? 2) A lady’s been “dateless for three years,” and doesn’t want to go online. HOW TO MEET A NICE FELLA? 3) A young guy is sick of his career. HOW TO FIND A NEW JOB POST-PANDEMIC? Listen, like, subscribem, and judge! Thanks, Mightys! Ep 53 - Megan Galley is Helping by Being Real (and Judgemental)!

Megan Galley is a comedian who grew up in Indiana, went on to do comedy in Chicago, and since then has been on Comedy Central and Conan. She’s also a hilarious maniac, in the best possible sense. My time in Chicago ended well before she moved there, but I heard from friends how funny she was after I left. We became friends through doing shows and having come from the same scene, but this is the longest convo we’ve had, and you get to hear it! Megan is a goddamn stitch, and way more real than most of the folks I’ve met in my life. PERFECT for TMH. THE CALLS: 1) Cathy wants to know, WHO SHOULD MAKE THE BED? The person who gets up first? RIGHT?? 2) Jeremiah wants to know, how do you get the other people in your group to do your sketches when they won’t? 3) A VERY DARK CALL (listen to understand)(thank God a ray of sunshine like Megan was on to help!). Ep 52 - Laraine Newman, the Goddess Herself, Flies in to Help!

What can I say about Laraine that hasn’t been said? Hilarious, kind, legendary, seen it all, done it all, is somehow friends with Matt Braunger, the list goes on and on. She’s also a mother to two grown kids who are also talented performers. When we first met we hit it off immediately, and it was like talking to an old friend. It was strange and fantastic, seeing as I vividly remember laughing at her sketches with my mom when I was barely able to walk (not because I was drunk, because I was a little boy). Her new book “May You Live in Interesting Times” is out now on Audible, full of her amazing stories and wisdom. THE CALLS: 1) Rob is wondering, SHOULD HE DO A PODCAST (uh oh) about hip-hop with his best friend (ok maybe)? Also, how does he GET HIS FRIEND TO SAY YES? (!!) 2) Stacey from Florida’s ex-husband hangs out WAY TOO LONG after he drops off the kids. What to do? 3) Em the Gen X-er A) DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO TEXT OR TEXT-FLIRT, and B) Talks too loud. Help! Ep 51 - Jenny Yang is Here to Help Your Animal in its Crossing!

Jenny Yang is what you call a worker. A comedian, fashion icon (according to me and others on the internet), a writer, and creator of one of the most successful covid-era shows in the world: Comedy Crossing. Every week people tune in to watch comedians do comedy in the hugely popular Animal Crossing world. She was one of those comics I didn’t know very well, but now I feel like we’re pals. Especially since we’ve now given dating advice. She was also cool enough to take time out from her first trip post-covid to talk to us. What a class act! THE CALLS: 1) A fella wants to know how to look and dress ONCE THE WORLD OPENS! 2) A lady has a hard crush on a co-worker. TELL HIM OR NO? 3) A dude’s lady refuses to go to couples’ therapy anymore because she says he’s WINNING THERAPY! (??). Listen to our advice, call us idiots, then shout out your own. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 50 - Mara Wilson is Here to Help, Especially if Your Name is Matt!

Mara Wilson has lived a few lives. A former child star (Mrs. Doubtfire, Matilda, Miracle on 34th Street), she’s now writer, mental health advocate, and fellow funny person. I’d never met her personally, but we were fans of each other online. So when Josh Gondelman recommended her I jumped at the idea, even though Josh does so much coke he doesn’t know which was is up (Ed note: He doesn’t do coke, never has). She was a dream. Funny, thoughtful, and insightful for all three callers whose names were Matt (Ed note #2: Only two of them were Matts, which was still weird). THE CALLS: 1) Matt #1 got into a fight with his girlfriend, who was kind of a loudmouth at dinner in front of their friends. His fault? 2) Matt #2 is 37, went to art school, and feels left behind by life and his more successful friends. True or no? 3) A non-Matt (thank GOD) whom is a lady saw me in Chicago and I didn’t get mad when someone told me to move the moment before I got onstage. When do you know to be nice or not as a performer? Thanks, Mightys! And enjoy. Call Matt and ask a question 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. Ep 49 - Justin Martindale is Here to Help with Your Herpes (but Not Your Revenge)!

Justin Martindale is a strong-jawed “Store guy” like myself (half of this is true for me). We’re both Comedy Store performers here in LA, we’re both tall guys, but only Justin is cool, and gay. He’s recently returned from a somewhat rough gig performing in the deserts of Palm Springs so we’ve caught him at a particularly hilarious time. Justin has always cracked me up, always been a cool dude, and always had a both a good sardonic side and a good heart (to me, the best kind of combination). Whew! That’s a long sentence (but necessary). This was a fun one. Also, the calls this week are NUTS. THE CALLS: 1) A guy with real dating trouble has found a lady he really likes! The problem: She has herpes. What to do? 2) A man’s wife has asked for divorce. He asks: What’s the best way to take revenge? (!!) 3) Justin wants to know what to do about his “shitting” dog, and how he should approach his position of authority at a new job. Help! Thanks, like, and subscribe. Ep 48 - Amy MIller (the Killer) is Here with Killer Help!

Comedian Amy Miller won the Funniest Person in Portland Tournament two years in a row, so of course, I love her. She’s also a great friend who’s known not to bullshit. Her honesty, cutting wit, and openness have made her one of the best comics out there. She grew up in a religious family, isn’t too religious anymore, but still has that age-old fear of God. Hence her hit podcast “Who’s Your God?” where she and Steve Hernandez (a former megachurch pastor turned stand-up) ask folks about their beliefs. Plus, she wore an amazing dad rock shirt in my honor while we recorded. What a perfect guest!  THE CALLS:  1) A nice lady wants to quit her job, but has no prospects. Tips?  2) Alicia is working from home tomorrow. What should she wear???!!  3) Chris Jones (a name so common he was able to give it, first AND last) has a younger brother who is so afraid of needles he won’t get the vaccine. WHAT TO DO? Ep 47 - Tim Baltz is Here to Help, Character Actor Style!

Recorded from ON LOCATION on Tim’s hotel he’s staying in before shooting The Righteous Gemstones! You might have seen Tim on that show, Shrink, or any of the other things he’s been quietly hilariously in. But don’t let any of that normal person stuff fool you, he’s also a really nice guy. Tim sat down with me to talk comedy, improv, the Old Chicago scene, and what it’s like to be high on anxiety every day from showbiz crap. Tim’s done even more than I knew, and he’s worked with some amazing performers. Plus, like a said, real sweet dude.  THE CALLS:  1) A caller wants to know what it’s like to work on his current big show 2) A nice lady with a particular set of skills wants to know how to get the word out, and  3) A male caller has a VERY WEIRD REQUEST for Tim on behalf of his ex. Ep 46 - Isaac Fitgerald is a Party Monk Here to Help!

Isaac Fitzgerald is a writer of essays, adult books, and even children’s books! Kyle Kinane gave me his book “How to be a Pirate” for my daughter Rose and she loves it. He’s also a story teller, a lovely guy, and a world-class drinking buddy. Like a lot of my episodes, we spend a good amount of time catching up on each other and talking about our new perspectives. We also talked writing, and all-around creation/dicking around. Whether you’re into writing or just having fun (and that’s all of you), you’ll love this episode. THE CALLS: 1) A lady asks, “How are you and Isaac finding joy and hope in these strange times?” !!! 2) A nice young man wants to move away somewhere more fun than where he lives, but then he’ll be away from his dad who is in bad health. What’s the best option? 3) A fella has moved in with his girlfriend, but she demands he go to bed when she does every night. Help! Listen, like, subscribe, and for God’s sake buy a book! Ep 45 - Roy Wood Jr. Helps You by Helping You Help Yourself!

Roy Wood Jr. is one of those comedians that every comedian is a fan of, and he agrees with me that all of us only see each other in the airport. Now a correspondent and writer on The Daily Show, Roy was one of those people who did the hardest gigs coming up, and it shows. He shares some of those stories on here, stuff I’d never heard, as well as trying to help the callers. Warning: Two parts of this podcast had me almost crying laughing. All I’ll say is: 1) Ron White, and 2) Blackface.  THE CALLS:  1) A guy loves his girlfriend, but her dog hates him. What to do?  2) A fan of Roy’s asks if he has any potty training tips  3) A caller asks, “What’s the best way to make a good impression on a work Zoom?” Listen and learn. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 44 - Arlo Weierhauser Returns to Help (kind of)!

I know, I know, we’ve had Arlo on already, but I love them so much, especially now that their curmudgeonly charm is in full bloom. The pandemic has been rough on all of us, and this podcast has let me check in on “Coach” twice! Cool fact: They were the last person I had a restaurant meal with!! And it was a special meal. I told them I was having a kid, and they’d chosen their non-binary name. Very cool! If you like listening to two old friends who are past giving a shit about norms, you’ll love this episode. THE CALLS: 1) A nice lesbian needs dating advice. Can Arlo help? Because I certainly can’t. 2) A caller has one for Dana (he missed last week). Can Arlo help with THAT? 3) A DARK ONE (you have to listen, I won’t describe it—sorry). Thanks, Mightys! Ep 43 - Dana Gould is Here to Help, and so is Dr. Zaius!

This is the one you’ve been waiting/asking for, even if you haven’t. Dana Gould was a guy I looked up to when I was coming up as a young comic, and now that I’m old, we’re actual, real-life friends. He’s done it all, seen it all, and still hasn’t lost his love of the art form. He’s also not very jaded, which is refreshing for a person who’s been doing stand-up since their teens. A Girl Dad three times over, it was fun talking to Dana now that I’m a new dad. Also, Halloween forever. THE CALLS: 1) A trucker has a girlfriend who will not get off the phone with him. How can he politely get her to give him some HIM time? 2) SALLY RETURNS! If you don’t know Sally, check out “Advice from a Dipshit.” eps. Spoiler: She’s great. 3) Max, a director and editor from New Jersey, moved in with his parents after a breakup and is working a day job. How long is it okay to “lick his wounds?” Listen to our answers, they’re right! We even did a speed round of comments sent to me via social media. DOES HE GIVE ADVICE AS DR. ZAIUS? Well, yes. Ep 42 - One for the Mightys! Help!

Hello Mightys, it’s me, your leader. Longtime listeners know a Mighty is a fan of the show, so if you’re not one, now you know. I thought I’d take this episode to say thanks, listen to the calls, and see if there’s anything you’d change/like to hear more of/etc. It’s a fun ep, as a few of the calls were meant for my maniac brother Eric Andre (we got a lot of calls for him), so I got to dig into some sweet, sweet insanity. The fun thing for me was to go FULLY REAL even when the calls were a joke. Or were they? Listen, compare, and enjoy. Thanks, Mightys. You are the wind beneath my bananas. Ep 41 - Eric Andre is Crazy to Help!

Eric has a certain reputation, some of it earned (he likes drugs, he’s adventurous, he’s wildly creative/kind of fearless), and some of it not (he’s crazy). I’ve known Eric for at least 13 years and he’s one of the smartest guys I know. He also cares about what counts (friends, good times, being a good person) and not about what doesn’t (money, being famous, etc). We got deep on this episode, talking about our past, drugs, relationships, and of course, how we’re dealing with this epidemic. THE CALLS: Look, they’re so insane, you just have to listen. Eric has….. a certain kind of fan. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 40 - David Koechner, The Champ, is here to help!

You know him as Champ Kind from Anchorman, Todd Packer on The Office, Bill on The Goldbergs, or a hundred other things. Me, I know him as a Chicago improv legend and one of the kindest dudes ever. From helping me and other friends of mine along the way through this minefield of a business to letting me and my then-girlfriend (now wife) use his dressing room at SNL and introducing me to Will Farrell, David is there for people. He also has five kids, so he’s got a lot of perspective to share. This was a fun one. THE CALLS: 1) A graphic designer who can’t sell his work is about to start an internship that will leave him no free time. It’s also unpaid, so he can’t take his new girlfriend out. Ideas? 2) A comic actor who idolizes David asks for showbiz advice. Also, how can he get a Funco doll of him as Champ Kind? 3) A man is convinced a neighbor took his EZPass out of his open convertible. Confront him or just order a new one? 4) We do a speed round of questions posted to my IG stories. How could you not listen to this episode?? Thanks, Mightys. You are the wind beneath my (hot) wings. Ep 39 - Tom Thakkar Loves Dumb Stuff, and Helping!

As I mention on the show, Tom was once mentioned in a review of a show I did as having a better set than mine. Do we get into it? Oh yeah. And, it turns out better than you thought. I’ve known Tom for many years, and he’s always been a fun comic to watch and a good friend/drinking buddy to have. We talked about keeping perspective during this horrible time for live comedy, dealing with drunk audience members, relationships, the Midwest, and lots of other distracting, non-important topics to help fill your day with fun. THE CALLS: 1) Tom has a podcast called “Stand by Your Band,” where he and a guest defend their ‘guilty pleasure’ musical acts. Caller asks, “What are yours?” 2) A fella got drunk and cheated on his wife of ten years. He’s now in AA and taking steps to repair the damage done. He asks, “How can things go back to normal?” 3) A singer/comedian asks, “How can you tell what people want to laugh at when you can’t do live shows?” Listen for our wise, and very stupid answers. Ep 38 - Reggie Watts is Here to Help, from Outer Space!

Reggie Watts is someone I love to watch on stage as well as hang out with (it’s less common than you might think). An improvisor at his core, Reggie creates music and comedy from scratch onstage and has an open, creative mind when it comes to others offstage. We first met at the Bumbershoot Festival in 2009 and he inspired me big time, because at one point I had to go on after him (Me back then: “Shit!!”). It made me conquer certain fears, something we all have to go through. Now he’s the head of the band on the Late Late Show with James Corden, but he still creates and performs regularly. He was an absolute blast and joy on TMH. THE CALLS: 1) A lady who’s just turned 40 is sick of guys saying “You don’t look that old” as a compliment. Can we help? 2) A man takes big dumps at his girlfriend’s house and at her parents’ place, but they don’t have a plunger. What to do? 3) A nice lady asks Reggie THE ULTIMATE QUESTION (listen to find out what it is!!). Thanks, Mightys! Enjoy, and spread the word. Ep 37 - Andy Wood Is A Jeopardy Champion Here to Help!

My friend Andy Wood is a comedian and massive nerd (his own admission) who started the Bridgetown Comedy Festival with me in 2007. It ran ten years and helped the PDX comedy scene hugely, as well as gave a ton of comedians and fans the times of their lives. He also won Jeopardy four times (!!). A kind and gentle fella, he was the only guy in my bachelor party that women actually hit on, which I of course forgot to mention.  THE CALLS:  1) A lady with a broken heart wants to know, how to get over it without becoming a full-blown drunk?  2) A 37-year-old woman accidentally put herself down as 30 on her dating apps and her likes exploded! The people on dates with her haven’t cared. Is she wrong?  3) A nice fella who served me drinks in Portland once lost a friend to suicide after gaining some professional success. It feels wrong to be proud of himself, is that weird? Listen, tell your friends, subscribe, and be good to yourself, my Mightys. Ep 36 - Michelle Biloon Has Been Around/is Here to Help!

Michelle is an old friend, and we have something in common: our lives have had many acts. We both started in very strong comedy scenes (her in Austin, me in Chicago) that both liked to drink strongly. We’re both now parents with kids, and don’t regret our party pasts. See? You CAN have it all! It was fun catching up with Michelle and busting each other’s chops. We went a full hour! Lucky you. THE CALLS: 1) Rob’s wife hates that he watches the same shows and movies over and over, even though he watches new stuff with her. Does he suck? 2) Jake in Philly wants to lose weight. Any tips from two people that have? 3) A comedian who’s just starting out wants to know how he can “make his mark” when you can’t play stages?? Listen, like, and subscribe, My Mightys!! EP 35 - My Manager Biz is Here to Have Fun, and Help!

Biz Hurst is my manager, a friend, and lately a zoom drinking buddy from time to time. They’re also trans non-binary, a snappy dresser, and somehow not entirely losing their mind in the current NYC lockdown. Oh, this is while also juggling a roster of young, hungry comedians like me (Kidding about me, but seriously all her other clients are pretty young, which definitely keeps me young (they’ve never heard me say this)). This was Biz’s first podcast guest appearance, and they knocked it out of the park. Take a listen. THE CALLS: 1) A lady’s male friend made “unwanted advances” and hurt the friendship, to the point where she “Can’t forgive him.” What can he do to get back in her graces? 2) Joe wants to know, specifically from Biz, how the hell do you eat healthy at the airport? 3) A big fan of mine (thanks!) is doing terrible in an expensive law school. EP 34 - My Old Friend, GirlDad, & Fellow Maker of Mistakes Matt Dwyer is Here to Help!

I can’t tell you all the stuff I’ve been through with Matt Dwyer. We’ve known each other for decades, and more than a few of the memories are lost to utterly destroyed brain cells. Who better than him AND me to offer advice to you, the youth of the world? We’re also both dads now, and he’s one of the only people I’ve seen during the dreaded quar (he’s in my pod (not cast).  THE CALLS:  1) A repeat caller who was afraid of hell is STILL afraid of hell. What to do? 2) A man who used a HAM radio is being stalked by three men, or IS HE?  3) A college aged fella wants to know: Should I get a dog?  Enjoy, my Mightys! Robin Tran is smart, trans, hilarious, and a badass on the comedy and roast scene. Recently she’s blown up online as well, partly because of Covid but also because of getting on the right track with her depression. This episode went long and I laughed out loud a lot. EP 32 - Solo New Years Episode

Whoo! 2020 is over! More BS is yet to come, but hopefully (with what we’ve been through) we’ll be ready. I wanted to do this episode by myself to kick the year off right, and to go old school with the pod. Way back when I started, I did it guest-less, so here I go again on my own (a la Whitesnake). I did five calls. Yes, five. Were they doozies? Hell f-ing yes! THE CALLS: 1) All I’ll say is, Rocky Dennis 2) A caller wants to know: What to do if your job pays dick? 3) A caller has onion rings on her Xmas tree. Also, how can she keep a good outlook on the future? 4) Chris has to take a psyche evaluation, and her therapist (who isn’t giving it) is suggesting she lie. YES, THIS IS REAL. 5) Steve and his family, by protecting their grandmother, have been ostracized by her. Next steps? Listen, like, subscribe, all that fun stuff. EP 31 - Blaine Capatch is Blaming the Shrimp for His Hangover, but Helping!

Blaine Capatch is a friend, but also a comedy idol of mine. I know that sounds like a lot, but he’s one of those comedians whose writing and silly delivery I’ve looked up to for a very, very long time. He started out in the San Francisco comedy scene of the 90s with people like Patton Oswalt and Dana Gould, and since then he’s written on roughly 5 million television shows. When I was a guest on @Midnight on Comedy Central, I would always ask to get Blaine as the comedy writer I would bounce my jokes off of before we taped (and a LOT of funny people wrote on that show (RIP)). We had a great time, and it was nice to see he hasn’t lost his mind during Covid (any more than it was already gone). THE CALLS: 1) When caller Evan has people over for dinner, if anything (even the smallest thing) goes wrong, he is devastated. How to cope with his own brutal self-criticism? 2) A man’s mom has decimated his high scores on a mutually loved video game. It wasn’t a big deal, but she keeps bragging about it. Is it cool to destroy your mom’s scores and brag right back? 3) A nice lady and her husband are big fans of the show, and he’s started taking care of his drinking problem and now goes to therapy. What are my and Blaine’s thoughts on getting ahold of one’s alcohol abuse (and secret drinking)? Listen, like, subscribe, but most of all don’t go hang out in groups. EP 30 - Ashley Gavin is Having Gay Sex AND Helping!

Happy Holidays, Mightys! This is one of those amazing episodes where I didn’t know the person I was interviewing, but by the end we were close, personal friends. Ashley Gavin is hilarious and very amazing. Also, she’s gay. Why do I mention that? Well, for one, it makes her cool. And B, she has a podcast called “We’re Having Gay Sex.” Folks, talk about a grabber! Ashley talks to all kinds of folks (not just gay) about sex and relationships. It’s a gas, and so is she. Ashley is a New York-based comedian with a huge social media following. In fact, she’s even helping me navigate the rough waters of TikTok (because I am an old man).  THE CALLS:  1) A lady in an “unlabeled relationship” is having strong feelings for her gal, and her gal is moving away soon. Should she tell her how she feels?  2) 20-year-old Lauren is gay and doesn’t know how to meet other gays. Help! (Thank God I was here for this one (Don’t worry, I helped her)).  3) A nice gay lady is new to Tinder and doesn’t know how to text in a cool way. Does that matter? That’s right, Mightys, all our callers this week are gay. We made it!!  Happy Holidays to you, Mightys! I am grateful to you for getting me through this year, and for sharing your problems. I’ve known Yassir since he was a doorman at The Improv back in my early Los Angeles days, and he’s certainly taken off like a rocket. He’s a male model (like myself), just ask him. Black Monday is his most recent credit, and his IMDB is impressive, but I know him more as an amazing, fearless standup and a writer on a TON of shows. He’s also one of my friends with a serious dichotomy in his life, that of his online presence and the way he is in person. He’s gone in hard on folks on twitter and other social media platforms, but in person he’s a thoughtful self-effacing dude. Loved having him on, as he is not only one of the funniest people out there, but he’s real AF (as the kids say). Listen to this one today, especially if the holidays have you down. We had so much fun. THE CALLS: 1) A caller is working on his masters degree and has two huge final papers due SOON. How to buckle down? (This was perfect for Yassir, as he writes A TON. 2) A caller is planning to just ride out the quarantine by eating and getting high and then getting lipo when it’s safe to do so. Cool? 3) A caller has no interest in having sex with his wife, and is also watching a ton of porn throughout the day. Do these things have anything to do with each other? Listen for our advice, argue with it, then finally agree. Happy Holidays, Mightys! Don’t lose the smooth! Ep 28 - The Living Tombstone is a Tombstone Alive and Helping!

The Living Tombstone is, by their own definition, “an internet band,” but they’re more than that. They’re fun, kindhearted, and insightful, especially for such young dudes. And yeah, I know, I’m obviously a super young dude too, but whatevs, bro. Anyway, this one went long and we got deep into some real stuff. My tendency with this podcast is to err on the side of funny, but these guys got really real, and we got some serious calls. But don’t fret, it was also entertaining as hell. Listen now! THE CALLS: 1) A good dude’s best friend is obese, and it’s getting worse. How can he help? 2) A caller wonders, do comedians mind when people try to make them laugh? And do bands mind when fans gush? Help! 3) A caller’s father (who’s lost his wife) is veering more and more towards the negative. How to stop him/help him/etc? Thanks, Mightys! EP 27 - Brent Terhune is Yelling in his Car to Help!

Comedian Brent Terhune joins me this week all the way from Indiana by way of Comedy Itself. I’m always on the hunt for comedians I’ve never seen to become fans of, and over the past couple of months I’ve become a huge fan of Brent’s. If you’ve never seen him live, maybe you’re one of the hundreds of thousands who have seen his videos (a lot of which involve him yelling in a car). My personal favorite is the owner of a capsized boat called the “S.S. Magaritaville” that sank along with several others during a rally. Brent made this episode a lot of fun. THE CALLS: 1) A caller who was punched by a homeless man no longer wants to give money to the homeless. Is he a dick? 2) A guy’s dad left a long time ago, can we help him solve a math problem?, and 3) A caller wants to know how to keep weight off during the holidays. A CLASSIC ASK! Ep 26 - Corey Ryan Forrester, aka The Buttercream Dream, is Thankful and Here to Help!

It’s Thanksgiving week, and though it’s been a monster punch-in-the-dong of a year, we still have things to be thankful for. This week I’m thankful to have the hilarious Corey Ryan Forrester on the show. You might know him from his no-BS-taking pro wrestler character “The Buttercream Dream,” but I know him from his hilarious stand-up. Either way, he’s a gem. Like all of us, Corey was thrown for a loop during the pandemic because he was literally always on the road, but it made him focus on online comedy. Fast forward to now, and he’s being retweeted by Dave Bautista. What could be better? This ep was an absolute blast and we became great friends during it. Need a break from the stress of the holiday? Lock yourself in the garage and listen to this one on 10. THE CALLS: 1) A man is headed to T-Day dinner with relatives attending who use glamour filters to excess. How can he not stare? 2) My man Chris from Davenport and his wife are not inviting their parents to Thanksgiving (understandably). How do they help with their parents’ hurt feelings? 3) A nice gal is turning 40, wants to party, but how? Listen now, Mightys, and hear our perfect answers. Happy Thanksgiving! Ep 25 - Langston Kerman is Handsome and he Helps!

Have you seen Season Two of The Boys on Amazon? Great, right? If you’re a fan, like I am, you might have noticed a very handsome fella playing a sensitive Hawkeye-type hero. That’s my friend, hilarious comedian Langston Kerman. However, like me, he’s more than just good looking. Langston grew up in Chicago and cut his teeth as a comedian in New York City. He’s always been one of those comics whom I just love to watch, because he’s always got an observation I never see coming. This episode went a little long because we GOT INTO IT on this one. As the kids online say, “You love to see it.” THE CALLS: 1) A very drunk person decided to call in and do a horrible Australian accent to tell me to cut the one grey hair in my eyebrow. Thankfully, it led to a hilarious discussion of how our wives make us look better, and how we resist for the sake of our idiot egos. 2) A teacher is torn between teaching and her regard for her own life after her administration decides to reopen classes. Should she go or no? 3) A two-parter from this caller: A) What to have on her pizza, since the world is ending, and B) How can she deal with the rampant angst and anxiety we’re currently enjoying. Listen and get our advice! Also, rate us highly online and tell your friends. Thanks, Mightys! Ep 24 - Comedian Monroe Martin is a Big Help!

Monroe Martin is a really funny comedian and, honestly, that’s all I knew about him before we recorded this podcast. Now I know that he grew up in foster homes, has a wife, and loves pettiness as much as I do. Dude is the best! We had a lot of fun recording this one, to the point that my producer Rene came in after we were finished still laughing at our antics. I’m really happy that this ep is coming out this week when we’re having so much anxiety as a country and a world. Need a laugh? Here it is, Mightys! THE CALLS: 1) A guy’s parody website in Savannah got an award, but they gave it to someone else: THE CITY ITSELF! And get this, the city will not give it back. What to do?? 2) Miranda wants to do what to do for a living as a young person. THE ETERNAL QUESTION!, and 3) Hiya’s dad’s 50th birthday is coming up, the family wants them to get together, but her mom will not admit she’s an alcoholic who drunk texts mean stuff. Can she skip it?? Listen to hear our advice! Thanks, gang. To call Matt and ask a question call 323-763-0228 New episodes arrive every Thursday via The Laugh Button. EP 23 - Painter Jeff Eagan helps AND cuts the straightest lines!

So as many of you know, my wife and I drove our baby daughter 3,000 miles across the country to escape the fiery California air about a month ago. We also left so my in-laws could meet baby Rose, their granddaughter. During that time in lovely Mansfield, Massachusetts I’ve been writing, watching the baby, doing this podcast, and sometimes drinking. My main man Jeff Eagan has helped me with that, as well as HAVING PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE. A painter by trade, Eagan (as he’s known, like Braunger) has a great outlook on life. So when my wife half-jokingly suggested I have him on the show, I said, “Hell yeah.” Give this ep a listen and you’ll see why he’s become such a great friend. As a kid in a bar once said about Eagan, “Dude is a legend.” THE CALLS: 1) A man asks if my “amazing” beard is natural. Jeff, who is also gifted by God with an amazing one, chimes in, 2) Former guest (and current friend and comedian) Jen Kirkman asks what to do about relatives who email her with a person connected about “Getting into the business” without asking her first, 3) Josh Gondelman (ANOTHER former guest/current friend/comedian asks “if the lockdown happens in NYC again, what can I look forward to?” 4) Chris G (our friend in town) wants to know, if he buys a “scratchy” (scratch ticket) and wins, what should he spend it on? EP 22 - Esther Tsang will give you a taste of Helping!

Esther Tsang is a freelance food writer who I am a fan of, but didn’t know. That’s changed, as after this episode we agreed to go eat/grab a drink when Covid blows over. We had a ton of fun on this ep, and I’m so glad I randomly reached out over Twitter. Ah, Twitter, you’re so relaxing and helpful! Always! Jokes aside, check out this ep because Esther is very deep, very smart, and an absolute stitch. Side note: This episode was recorded inside a definitely haunted house built in the 1800s in Providence, Rhode Island, so you might hear a ghost or two. THE CALLS: 1) A man broke up with his lady and is having doubts. Should he reach out? Go back? (Spoiler for context: I have gone back, Esther NEVER HAS), 2) A lady (with no agenda, I’m sure) asks where the best place to sneak into Canada is (Spoiler again: Esther knows exactly where to) 3) A non-binary stand-up asks if they should speak their truth or hide it in the hopes of not ruffling feathers, getting ahead, etc. Listen for our answers and give your own! EP 21 - Beth Stelling is your helpful Girl Daddy!

What can I say about Beth Stelling? To know her is to love her, and also to be kind of jealous of her jokes and stage presence. Not me, obviously, but you know… other comics. Anyway, Beth and I go way back and when I saw she had a new special out (“Girl Daddy” on HBO Max), I had to have her on the show to help out the Mightys. MAN, did we get into it. Jerks online, comedy as a possibly dead thing now, loneliness, and more! So much fun! I love you, Beth. THE CALLS: 1) Aaron, a fellow comic, calls in to talk about what is probably a sociopathic neighbor who called him a bad father to his face (!!), 2) A man who has just been promoted is worried his now-unemployed lady will decide to not get a new job. How to tell her? 3) Connor is in the process of converting to Judaism but cannot get his dad to understand what that means at all. Any way to tell him about this very rare religion (I’m kidding)? EP 20 - Liz Crain Has a Recipe for Helping (Spoiler: It’s for Dumplings)!

Liz Crain is a huge part of my hometown Portland, Oregon’s food scene. When I was kid, food and restaurants there were kinda… eh. Now, though? That place can compete and win with places like New York, Madrid, and even Paris. Yeah, that’s right, Pierre, I said it! Liz has been documenting, cooking, and teaching on the Portland food scene for a long time now and it was great to have her on. As you Mightys know, I’m all about giving yourself treats, and that’s what Liz is all about. Not only things like stuff to cook, but also things to ferment (including booze), and CANNABIS!! Yes, that’s right. All the things! THE CALLS: 1) My childhood friend Chantal calls in to TELL ME I’M AWESOME (also, what should she do with her restaurant on the Oregon Coast??) 2) A man says his neighbor neglects her dogs to the point of abuse. Should he say something or leave a letter? 3) A guy wants to know which way toilet paper should be displayed, the over or the under? HUGE QUESTION!! Listen now. New episodes arrive every Thursday. EP 19 - Jon Gabrus is the Hercules of Helping

Jon Gabrus, first of all, should play Hercules if Marvel decides to put their version of the character in one of their movies. Secondly, he’s a big gregarious man who people have always assumed I know and party with. No true, but it should be. Jon and I are both big, we party, and we’re super fun/handsome. We’re both married too. I know Jon from the work I’ve done at the UCB, where he’s a regular performer. You’ve also seen him in a ton of stuff. In fact, we’ve gone in for the same part several times (But Luka Jones usually gets the role). We used this episode as an excuse to finally become close, personal friends and to help out the Mightys out there. THE CALLS: 1) A Gay Bear wants to know how to feel better about his body---WHO better to ASK?? 2) A guy whose family wants to celebrate his birthday doesn’t want to let them. Cool or no? 3) A fella’s single father-in-law’s web searches have revealed he’s looking for a sexual pro. Help him, or leave him to the dangers of online predators? TUNE IN! EP 18 - Martha Kelly is a Wild Animal of Helping!

What can I say about my friend Martha Kelly? She’s low key one of the funniest comedians alive, hands down. Low key being a key descriptor of her style. Martha is dry as a bone onstage, but offstage she’s always been a really warm and helpful friend (don’t tell her I said that). You probably know her from her entire-series-stealing work on “Baskets,” but of late she’s become synonymous with not taking an ounce of shit from trolls on Twitter. This was a great episode and an excuse for us to catch up like the old pals we are. THE CALLS: 1) A man is “Fuck buddies” with a friend of his ex. Should he tell her? (Spoiler: Martha: “Fuck no”) 2) A young man of 30 asks, is 30 too old to move to a “happening spot,” and which spot should be choose, Chicago or Portland? 3) A man’s wife is 34 weeks pregnant with their first kid. EP 14 - Tom Bissell is the Author of Your Help!

My cousin Tom is an author of books (The Disaster Artist, Extra Lives, God Lives in St. Petersburg) and video games (Gears of War). He’s also an awesome dude who has I met late in life and formed a fast friendship with. I’ll never forget visiting my parents in Portland, meeting him for the first time over dinner with them, then watching him force my parents to both play and understand video games at his place later that night. Classic! He’s been a good pal but has also helped me learn to be a better writer, not an easy thing to teach. Tom’s counsel is very valid. Speaking of which! The Calls: 1) A male caller’s wife has written three books in a year (WTF?)(!!). How does she go about getting published? 2) A lady has an overbearing friend who is ALL UP IN HER S&*T. How to tell her to back off without being mean?, and 3) A fella wants to cut down on his drinking, or maybe give it up. Any good substitutes out there for the sauce? EP 13 - Baratunde Thurston Helps for a Full Hour!

Baratunde Thurston is a friend, a comedian, an activist, and a whole lot more. He’s had a Ted talk that blew the F up, wrote a book called “How to Be Black,” and has a new podcast called “We’re Having a Moment” that couldn’t be more timely. I’ve gotten to know him on the comedy scene over the last few years, and have even worked with him on a project. It was so fun catching up and listening to calls that the show went a full hour! Check out why. THE CALLS: 1) A woman looking to internet date was told by a man that she masturbates too much??? 2) Blair, a comedian of 5 years, has moved to a small town and is uninspired, bummed by the Covid age, and wonders how to get back on the horse 3) Mark wants to know how to get people to stop talking politics in social settings. EP 12 - What the F@*k is an Air Fryer? with Farley Elliott

Farley Elliott is a famous food writer, but not a critic! I’d never known the difference, but it’s true. He doesn’t review restaurants, he writes about them if they’re important to their region. In his case, and mine, this is Los Angeles. I first met Farley at at In-N-Out Burger, of course, back when he was covering comedy. Since then, he’s found his groove, and now he’s here to help the callers find theirs! THE CALLS: 1) Nikki moved out after 16 years with someone, has never been happier, but doesn’t know how to actually “break up.” Help? 2) Brendan in Savanah, Georgia asks, “What the fuck is an air fryer?” 3) Dan wants his annoying friend who bothers him to hang out all the time to wise up and realize he’s being annoying. EP 11 - Carmen Lynch is a Tall Drink of Help!

Carmen and I are old comedy pals, having been on several stages together as well as several festivals. Like me, she is tall, as her album “Vertically Obese” explains. We got into that (including what my soon-to-be daughter will face as a tall girl). Carmen talks “real” jobs, doing comedy in NYC, and being a comedian old enough to not care about the BS. Also, panty hose: The Worst. THE CALLS: 1) A nice lady has strong feelings for her best friend who is still married but separated. Should she tell him? 2) A man is furious, literally furious, about the existence of hiccups. What are they? 3) A guy’s neighbors will not greet him or his partner, or even smile, and they won’t. I love Aparna, and I’m far from alone. Her hilarious stage presence, her incredible acting work, and her peerless writing (no one is better at Twitter) have earned her fans from all walks of life. She and I met doing comedy in the waiting area of Walter Reed Hospital ten-odd years ago, and we’ve been friends ever since. THE CALLS: 1) Chris is running out of cooking ideas, can you help??, 2) A woodpecker is living in the corner a guy’s house. How to get rid of it? Dave and I can’t figure out when we met, because we’re just that tight. He has an interesting history, some of which you might know, but an even more interesting outlook and brain. I’m glad he could join me to help! CALLS: 1) Annie’s dad refuses to wash his hands in airports because they’ll “make his hands even dirtier.” Also, he’s using airports!! 2) A guy broke up with his lady, “and it hurts like a motherfucker,” 3) What’s good to cook on the grill? However, she went through a lot to get where she is, and it’s never been easy being a woman of color in America. We get into it on this episode, and Michele uses her wisdom and hilarious point of view to help out our callers. CALLS: 1) Marcus is heavier than he should be, according to others, but doesn’t really want to. 2) An almost divorced woman wants to get freaky with someone. David hasn’t had the easiest life, but he’s really easy to be around, and he makes me laugh really hard. We know each other from the comedy festival circuit, and over the past few years he’s found real success both on screen and as the official voice of Comedy Central. CALLS: 1) A man did some trolling online (for good reasons (?)) and lost his job. Is that fair?, 2) Megan wants to know how to get out into the dating scene during these quarantine times, 3) A nice lady has super judgmental friends. Should she tell them to shove it? EP 5 - A 4th of July 3-Pack of Helpful Tallboys

Hey Helpers, this week we thought we’d do something special: Take the week off. Also, because we’re so awesome, we thought we’d do something special for you. Here are the first three guest-less episodes of “This Might Help” in their entirety. Recorded at the beginning of the America pandemic (and before I knew what the hell Zoom even was) these three episodes show how people were feeling back then, and why there’s still reason to keep hope alive and laugh. My plan for “This Might Help” was to have a guest every time, so I wasn’t sure what to do with these, but I’d like our callers’ voices to be heard, and the funny things I said back to not be wasted. Enjoy, and be safe this week. Call Matt at: 323-763-0228 New episodes every Thursday Follow @Braunger www.thismighthelppodcast.com Interested in advertising? EP 4 - Arlo Weierhauser

Arlo and I had a fantastic lunch right before the lockdown where I told them my wife was pregnant and they told me they were taking a new non-binary name: Arlo. For the last ten years or so I’ve known Arlo as Caitlin, one of the funniest people to ever come out of The Portland, Oregon comedy scene, and now they’re Arlo. Congrats pal! Check out their set on Colbert recently, it’s bananas funny. I love Arlo, or as they call themselves, “Coach.” CALLS: 1) Annie has an overbearing boss who wants her to now work on weekends doing non-work-related chores, 2) a woman working from home has a co-worker who takes her phone into the bathroom during Zoom calls, and 3) A man dating a porn stars wonders how to tell his family about it. EP 3 - Josh Gondleman Is A Hilarious Helper

Josh is an old friend, a fantastic comedian, and one of the best comedy writers alive. Also, he’s a dick. Kidding! That’s just what I call him because he’s so nice. Josh is famous for his pep talks online and off, and in this episode he did not disappoint. In fact, we spent the first 20 minutes cracking each other up! Love Josh, love this episode. CALLS: A man wonders if he should leave his “real” job for a “lesser” job to… be happy, a woman asks she she can un-invite her asshole uncle to her wedding, and a fella named Drew wants to know what us white men should do to help change things! Ep 2 - Doug Benson is High and Helping

My friend Doug Benson is a gem, and the hardest working stoned person since Bob Marley’s tour manager. We go back a lot of years, and he’s one of those guys who has never had any ego when it comes to helping out other comics and including them in his shows, podcasts, etc. I can’t tell you how fun it was to listen to these calls with my ol’ pal Dougie. CALLS: A man I called Thor (because he looks like Thor) when I was performing in St. Paul calls in to ask “HOW DO WE DATE NOW?,” Hayley from Maryland has a possum in her backyard she wants to make friends with (This is how bad it’s gotten), and a polyamorous immunodeficient person wonders who she can trust! EP 1 - My Beautiful Daughter Irene Tu Helps Out

Who better to start “This Might Help” out with me than my daughter? Okay, not really. I mean, she’s beautiful, but she’s not my kid. Irene Tu is a hilarious comedian from the Bay Area who I’ve jokingly called my adopted daughter for years now. She’s a lesbian, which I only bring up because as her stupid dad I always wonder why she can’t meet a nice boy. We always have fun, us two, and this episode is no exception. CALLS: Cody from Utah doesn’t want to move in with his parents during quarantine, a man has a new sex toy he can’t use with his social distanced girlfriend, and Brendan in Savannah is under pressure to start running comedy shows again. 75 - Why Are Farts And Poops Funny? With Special Guest Zach Hoffman

We know you're in the thick of it with family stuff, so take a hilarious break with today's episode! Nicely nice hearted with Matt's childhood friend Zach Hoffman dropping by and talking about their obsession with writing "death the cabbage patch dolls stories." Zach also educated us on PPM, which is definitely being added to the Dipshit Dictionary. Then to the questions. Thoughts on tattoos and red vines or twizzlers? Why are Farts and Shits Funny? How much should you charge someone to make your "incident" quiet? Zach traveled to 13 countries and made a stop in LA for some reason, but his stories are pretty cool. Also, what is the nature of death?  - A caller ignored our advice (from the Jo Koy episode) to his own peril. What should his punishment be?  - Should a man bring marijuana to Braunger after his show?  - And finally, questions from the masses on IG! Braungs talks about a rough moment earlier in the day, gets into how he’s evolving(or trying to), and shares a harrowing story of how he had a booze-induced panic attack a decade ago (“So we’re condoning Heroin.” - Amanda). Fun!  Ooh, we got some great calls this episode.  Call #1: A friendly caller wonders what he can do to stop his new dog (named Jim Beam) from watching he and his wife, well… bone.  Call #2: Ian in Alabama is in a rough spot, having been demoted from a job he’s given his life to Should he stick it out or ride off into the sunset, tires screeching?  Call #3: A man asks Braungs to settle a drawn out, vicious beef between him and his wife on a deeply serious subject.
