Growing up Alia was always fascinated with space and much of that was inspired by her love for Star Wars. She always dreamt of exploring space and discovering if there is life outside our planet. Alia entered the competition with minimal knowledge of Biology and took it upon herself to learn scientific literature with the help of her high school biology teacher. A few months later Alia had her winning experiment sent to the International Space Station on a SpaceX shuttle where the experiment was conducted by the astronauts on the ISS. The 18-year-old dreams of becoming not only the First Emarati women on Mars but to be the First HUMAN on the red planet and is working relentlessly to achieve this dream.
