My Kitchen Rules NZ: Week 4

The stars are out to play this week and we aren’t just talking about Mike Pero at the Christchurch show. Celebrities descended on MKRNZ to judge a six course degustation, which resulted in some of the horniest feedback this podcast has ever heard. There’s also a lot of new radio shows being announced, yet still no invite for Big Mum, Lexie and Dunc? Weird. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Bill English’s spaghetti pizza broke the internet

Who the hell puts tinned spaghetti on pizza?! In April 2017 that cry was heard the world over after then prime minister Bill English casually posted his spag-covered pizza on Facebook and asked the internet to ‘like if you agree’. Was it a clever distraction tactic at a time the PM was under intense scrutiny, or an innocent play at connecting with the voting youth? Only Bill knows why he shared his controversial pizza piccie, but we’ll all remember it forever. If you enjoy this podcast and are hungry for more, sign up for The Real Pod Extra on Substack. Thin Lizzy 6-in-1 promised a makeup miracle

In 2005, one groundbreaking makeup product emerged that promised to fix every one of our problems in one sunkissed swipe. She was a bronzer, a blusher, a contour, a foundation, an eyeshadow and a lipstick, and she came with an iconic jingle that basically defined what it meant to be a woman ("mobile, hairstyle, lingerie, PDA"). Celebrity Treasure Island: Week 5

The collapse of the comedian coalition has sent shockwaves through camp in the penultimate week of our favourite silly little game. We started the week waving farewell to Big Bopper Steve Price, and ended it with Laura sending Eli back to the flat after defeating her bestie in a game of topply card sand baggie balance. Now just five castaways remain while we perch precariously on the edge of our seats to see if one of the comedians can conquer, or if the treasure be unearthed by powerhouses Turia or Nick. C4 blasted onto our screens

In 2003 we were paying $30 for CDs and mainlining music videos. The internet was a bit slow, so there was huge demand for music videos on the telly to see the not many, if any, dudes who could roll like this. Juice TV had been plugging away on Sky, but then C4 entered the chat offering endless music videos that were free for all, and a slew of top notch hosting talent to boot. As C4 celebrates its 20 year anniversary, Jane and Duncan remember the glorious arrival of our last great music channel while simultaneously realising we didn’t know how good we had it. Water levels rose at the lake this week as the tears flowed and the eliminated rode (off into the sunset forever, RIP). Abstain for the Game was the century’s most bizarre ad campaign

Ahead of the incredibly tense 2011 Rugby World Cup, Abstain for the Game was a Telecom (now Spark) ad campagin using former All Black captain Sean Fitzpatrick, in a tuxedo, driving a pink dodgem, asking a tightly wound nation to keep it in their pants. It was an extremely odd ad, and created a furious response from a humourless public. Within days it was withdrawn with heavy apologies. But the ad has aged well, and as The Real Pod remembers when, they also ask – did we get this one wrong? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A week that saw comedians causing chaos, teams being cleft in twain and two powerhouse players heading for home. Celebrity Treasure Island: Week 2

It wasn’t a good week in Te Waipounamu for anyone whose name begins with M. After losing captaincy to James, Matilda beheaded Mary (with a little help from slippery Jordan) before succumbing to the guillotine herself at the hands of one Sir Blair Grylls. Our beloved Tāme bowed out on account of his lovely old bones, leaving a gaping hole in the spirit of Tohorā and, quite frankly, the whole nation. It seems the early game niceties have come to an end as alliances form, trust is broken and a certain someone doesn’t share his cheeseburger. In non-cat news, scientists work on the pressing need for veges to send emails, the powers that be in Texas send accidental alerts to the entire state population about a knife-wielding doll, and we finally get to the bottom (sorry) of why Wombats do square poos.  Plus we recap a week of lads lad lads on The Bachelorette NZ with our New Plymouth correspondent Tara Reid-Ward. THE TWILIGHT POD

After more than a year of social distancing for Alex, Jane and Duncan, the Real Pod trio are back in the same room for an emotional reunion and the long-awaited analysis of a cinematic masterpiece. Approximately a thousand years ago, the idea of The Real Pod maybe, possibly, perhaps one day recapping the Twilight movie was floated. The people heard the rally cry, and a small but incredibly insistent movement began. The comments on Facebook asking “Twilight pod?” kept trickling in, and after the sixth or seventh one, we finally relented. As if we could outrun it... as if we could fight it off. So here we are in Forks, Washington, diving deep into all the mystery and wonder of an unstoppable love between vampire and human. Join us as we talk 2000s fashion, terrible hair, fast cars, mushroom risotto, twenty-three year old doctor dads and that scene in the parking lot. Plus Alex drops a bombshell about R-Patz that none of us smelt coming.  It’s The Real Pod, and it’s really, really long. The Real Pod: The final pod for the final rose

The Real Pod assembles one more time to dissect the final week of The Bachelorette NZ, with special thanks to Nando’s. We've reached the end of our love journey in more ways than one, as this season of The Bachelorette NZ coincides with end of The Real Pod in it's current form. Lesina chose nobody, Lily chose Richie and Alex, Duncan and Jane have a lot of questions. Why did AMOG wear those shoes on the beach? Why is Lesina's mum a crown prosecutor? And who on Earth is Chad? Stay tuned to the end for some virtual goodbyes, as well as 12 minutes of Duncan and Alex recapping After the Final Rose in the Uber home from the filming. It’s The Real Pod, and it's been real. The Real Pod: Our very first lockdown podcast

The Real Pod assembles (virtually) to dissect the penultimate week of The Bachelorette NZ, except this time we are in a national lockdown.  The lads on The Bachelorette NZ knew all about what it was like to be in lockdown, so in a lot of ways we should have been prepared for this. Coming at you via our individual houses on day one of national lockdown, we have no choice to return to doing what we do best: recapping reality television. It was hometown week on The Bachelorette NZ, back when domestic travel was encouraged and hugging was a normal way of greeting people. Logan's Mum was incredible, AMOG's Dad spilled all and Jesse's brother seemed to be gunning for The Bachelor NZ in 2021. Join us for a little bit of normalcy in a weird, weird world. And remember: stay inside and watch telly. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Real Pod: Escaping into The Bachelorette NZ and Logan's scary notebook

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the seventh week of The Bachelorette NZ, with special thanks to Nando’s. The good news is that we are all back in the same country for the first time in a long time, the bad news is that it is definitely not because of The Right Reasons. In a snap decision, Jane left LAX for New Zealand 48 hours ago and recaps her journey home for us in these freaky times of Covid-19. It's a better time than ever to travel to our alternate reality in Argentina, where the boys are still pulling down pants and popping grapes willy-nilly. Mike and Michael decided they were done with Lesina's grilling, Logan had a revealing session with his notebook and AMOG has come completely loose at the seams. It's The Real Pod, and it's still real. For now. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Real Pod: Join us in the gratitude circle of The Bachelorette NZ

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the sixth week of The Bachelorette NZ, with special thanks to Nando’s. In this trying times of global chaos and social distancing, we welcome you to join our digital gratitude circle and recap the last week on The Bachelorette NZ. These were happier times when the swimming was synchronised, the chicken nibbles were realistic looking and Michael's root vegetable was hanging out for all the world to see. AMOG has completely come undone, Jesse is permanently rarked and Liam is officially veto-ed. In real news, Duncan played Alex's Mum at Scrabble and got caned, Jane is in the thick of California Coronavirus chaos and Alex is wearing a wig. We also desperately have to talk about whatever the hell is going on with MAFS AU. It's The Real Pod, and it's real as hell. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. The Real Pod: The Bachelorette NZ moves to Big Dad's farm

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the fifth week of The Bachelorette NZ, with special thanks to Nando’s. The boys have escaped jail for the Argentinian countryside this week, complete with rabbit hunting and a whole lot of prickles. Steve tries to serenade his way to a kiss, Liam goes on a jean short journey and Mike finally lets down those handsome walls. Logan is writing a rom-com, Jesse is writing poetry and Michael is still trying to write the perfect cake recipe. On the pod, things are evolving too. Duncan has changed his mind (again) about Richie, Jane needs to go to hospitable with a chronic case of missing Tavita-itis and Alex has some more feelings about eggs. The Real Pod: In which we deeply respect the culture of The Bachelorette NZ

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the cultured fourth week of The Bachelorette NZ with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on The Bachelorette NZ, a burrito bust-up ends in anaphylaxis, Steve chows down on some one ply and the Buenos Aires hostel goes full Lord of the Flies. It's become abundantly clear that that the show is less about two women finding love, and more about a bunch of blokes slowly losing their mind over a talking bottle. Also Duncan makes a formal apology to Richie, Jane reveals her drop crotch truth and there is a fierce debate about visible farts vs poop burps. Oh, there's also a bit of a bombshell from Alex. The Real Pod: The awkies intruders hit The Bachelorette NZ

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the fourth week of The Bachelorette NZ with special thanks to Nando’s. Oi oi me homies, it's intruder week on The Bachelorette NZ and we are about as shook as a humble kūmara being wrenched from Dargaville's finest soil. Michael! Mac! Mike! Richie! Elliott (again)! The lad culture in the mansion is officially ruined, the cat has been set amongst the pigeons and all Aaron can do is sing his favourite Lonestar tune. Lesina took Elliott out for a danger cruise, Lily made gelato with Liam and the boys pranked each other till the stars turned cold. Will Steve ever forgive Aaron for interrupting him? Will Logan's kissing ever get better? And how long until Tavita's hernia explodes all over the Buenos Aires?? All that, and a quick round-up of MAFS AU and Love is Blind. It's The Real Pod! The Real Pod: The Bachelorette gets naked, teary and herniated in Argentina

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the nude and rude third week of The Bachelorette NZ with special thanks to Nando’s. Two wonderful women and a mixed bag of lads jetted off to Argentina this week, one which saw a serious culling of the meek set of the herd. Conor, Flynn and Mr Wedge all departed, nearly joined by Tavita, who was only saved after his hernia was given a double shaka down at the hospitable. The big change at the 'actually plausible winners' end of the competition was Aaron disintegrating before our wide eyes. First he snitched on Steve for his hobby of the odd sly dart, then he did a diary cam in maybe the worst possible location in their mansion/prison, then he fell apart in ways which we found either endearing or terrifying. Alex, Jane and Duncan recount every wild moment, with a little recap of the first few MAFS AU weddings for dessert. Delicious, like a block of fresh gouda. Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod: The Bachelorette NZ lads find love... with each other

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the second week of The Bachelorette NZ with special thanks to Nando’s. The dramatic second week began with Lily walking in to the mansion and ended with The Mole revealing his true moley self to the bewildered men. Will the twists ever stop? Maybe everyone is a mole! The only thing we're sure of is that Glenn has continued to be weird and Aaron has continued to showcase a range of hats. The Real Pod: In which The Bachelorette NZ blows us all away

The Real Pod reassembles to dissect the first week of The Bachelorette NZ with special thanks to Nando’s. Blow your air horns and distress your jeans, the very first week of The Bachelorette NZ is over and we are absolutely amping. Join us as we recap the Tough Mudder group date, the romantic single dates up trees and on seas, and all the ways this season is throwing convention to the wind. Two Bachelorettes? No date cards? Live-in host? We love to see it. It's not all roses though as the podcast is torn apart on several issues. Team Glenn or Team Marc? Is Tavita here for the right reasons? The Real Pod: Art Green dissects episode one of The Bachelorette NZ

In this very special episode of The Real Pod, Art Green joins us to yarn about The Bachelorette NZ premiere. Brought to you by our friends at Nandos.  It's been five years in the making, but we finally got Art Green on our podcast. Joining us fresh out of episode one of The Bachelorette NZ, we recap every inch of the premiere from first arrivals to cocktail tensions. He tells us just how cold it was when Lesina met the lads, which guys were full-blown pick-up artists and flags some extreme nudity coming down the pipe. The Real Pod: New year, new decade, same old pod

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the summer in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. We're ba-ack! After a long cruel summer full of Jay Jay and Minou heartbreak, The Bachelorette NZ reveals and a mild case of ring worm, there is much to discuss. Why has Breakfast returned more sexed-up than ever? Will we ever see Minou again? And will Alex deliver on her shooey promises? Beyond that, there's also the much-anticipated finale of New Zealand's Next Top Model from 2009. We're not going to say it's an anti-climax, but we are going to say that the highlight is definitely Colin Mathura-Jeffree pelting young models with lamingtons for no reason. That's The Real Pod way. The Real Pod: In which Trev is the icing on the cake

Spend your relaxing Boxing Day unboxing the Great Kiwi Bake Off finale with us. It was a Christmas-themed episode stacked with surprises, meringues and exploding tarts. But of course, most important of all is the fact that our ex-Navy ironman Trev came away with the trotie. There's also the penultimate episode of New Zealand's Next Top Model, where Wendyl Nissen drags the models to filth, a Nivea challenge brings out some performance blemishes and Michael Hill's boat makes a cameo appearance. The Real Pod: In which Great Kiwi Bake Off goes teets up

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. It's the second to last week on Great Kiwi Bake Off and utterances of "don' like jelleh?" are ringing through the land. Booze jellies, udder jellies and ancient Egyptian jellies abound, our final four bakers pulled out all the stops just as Sue Fleischl pulled out her finest pair of denim jeans. There's also a lot of Real News this week including a very lovely Corny Christmas experience, thousands of penis fish washing up at Jane's place and an exciting new trailer for The Bachelorette NZ. The Real Pod: In which Colin Mathura-Jeffree tells us the story of the decade

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. There's also the latest from Great Kiwi Bake Off, where Heather falls apart for the first time and Trev reveals more from his bottomless depths. And why did Max Key delete his last Instagram post? Our investigative journalism continues as we try and get to the bottom of Trev from Bake Off's back story. He refers to himself in the third person, he definitely fought in 'Nam and he just can't stop making different breads. There's also some TradeMe chat, a brief Carly Rae Jepsen review and a live unwrapping of a gorgeous Christmas Corny gift. The Real Pod: Terrifying cakes and the worst episode of NZNTM yet

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. We are still buzzing after the rip-roaring success of the Corny Christmas party this week and we won't even let a rogue earwig in the studio dampen our spirits. There's a lot of exciting Real News including the secret location of The Bachelorette NZ, the celebrity break-up of the decade and Jacinda Arden's cameo on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. There's also a great holiday-themed week on Great Kiwi Bake Off, where the contestants made ANZAC biscuits, glossy buns and spooky Halloween cakes. Trev took it to the max, Ana made a disgusting brain cake and Dean was in a grumpy mood. Mushroomy biscuits. Biscuits about cross fit. Who had the best biscuit art of them all? Why is Trev so good? And how cool is Louise's secret ramen shop? All this, and the key to the perfect macaron (it's all in the feet). Beyond that, we've got a lot of Real News to get through. The Spinoff Book launch was a huge hit and basically became an all-night Colin's Cranny, Duncan ate a lot of wasabi in front of Jack Tame at the TVNZ launch and Art Green is posting many mysterious instagrams from very mysterious locations. The Real Pod: The Great Kiwi Bake Off and the truth about toilet plume

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. Another week, another new reality show to pour into our gullets like a jug of mirror glaze over a too-warm cake. The Great Kiwi Bake Off is back for another season, returning to the original 90-minute format that fans know and love. There's Trev with the delicate lamington balls, Sue with the "moist" feedback and Ana with a fridge horror show. There's also no Extra Slice, which makes us very sad because we love Chris Parker. Beyond that, there's also a lot of Real News. Erin and Zac tied the knot, Lily McManus has been spotted on Instagram in heavy TV makeup (ahem) and we have all the great new announcements for TVNZ's 2020 season (Art Green as The Bachelorette NZ host?!?!?). Plus, Jane has a Halloween fair to organise, Alex has an appointment and Duncan, you guessed it, has a meeting. Nevertheless, we persist. The rubber hit the road on My Restaurant Rules NZ this week, and when we say rubber we mean plastic tractor tyres and when we say road we mean paté. The Real Pod: On MAFSNZ, Drag Race UK and the unhinged glory of My Restaurant Rules

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. The holy trinity is finally reunited on the holiest of days, Duncan's birthday, to discuss the highs and lows of the week in reality. Married at First Sight NZ came crawling to an end with the final vows, after a week of jet ski drama, tired old boys and the return of Ling and Zing. Jono and Ray had a huge fight at a café, Anna wore an interesting bat tie during an emotional scene and Jordan showed off his many, many troties. There's also My Restaurant Rules NZ, which too us to Lyttleton by way of Birkenhead for some more classic Kiwi dinner party banter. The Block boys are hiding in wardrobes to avoid drama

On the most dramatic season of The Block NZ yet, two boys from Te Kuiti aren’t taking the bait.  It was Master Bedroom week on The Block NZ when judge Jason Bonham opened the door and collapsed into a fit of laughter at apartment three’s latest offering. Sure, it was an extremely blue room with weirdly-placed receding shelves, but it wasn’t really funny. It wasn’t funny as Lisa’s “Eat Her Right” sign she tried to hang in in week one, it wasn’t as funny as Mikaere’s Jeepers Creepers hat and it certainly wasn’t as funny as James Reid from The Feelers.  “She’s a bit of a kick in the guts eh, it’s very hard,” says Sam, one half of ‘the boys’ from Te Kuiti, who are slowly turning Apartment three into Jason Bonham’s chuckle factory on this season of The Block NZ . “We work our guts out and so do our builders, so for them to just come in and giggle and laugh at our efforts is pretty disheartening.” His teammate Ethan is struggling to find the words to describe the judges, wary of being impolite. “I wanna say… they’re rude.”  Read the full post : https://wp.me/p532R6-QxF Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod: Mercury is in retrograde, just ask The Block NZ

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. It's a whacky, whacky week on The Real Pod this week. But is it whackier than the fact that Gilda Kirkpatrick saw a literal ghost in Jamaica? Whackier than the fact that Hilary Barry visited The Spinoff studios? Whackier than Nasser returning to Alex's DMs after weeks of silence? Is it Mercury's fault? Can it be saved by an ice cold taurine fizz? How about a square morsel of cheesy bread from Nando's? There's also the wild west of Dinner Wars on The Block NZ. There's also the chaos of The Block NZ, where Jason Bonham threw down (and basically threw up) on the first room reveals, Sophie and Mikaere revealed some controversial plans to bulldoze their guest bedroom and Ribz did some bad cross-dressing because of something about a pink toilet. The Real Pod: When the dance floor closes, a firehouse door opens

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. The team is back to give it a good old Kiwi try across the seas this week, perhaps one of the biggest reality TV weeks of the year. Dancing With the Stars NZ had one explosive finale, complete with rugby balls and Julz Tocker doing a rambunctious jive, with Manu Vatuvei being crowned the winner of the glitter ball trophy. There was also the premiere of The Block NZ: Firehouse, set a stone's throw away in Kingsland. If the extremely rude sign and caricature millennials are anything to go by, it's going to be a cracker of a season. We also ruminate on what it means to be mindful in the latest edition of Colin's Cranny, and spend too long looking at Max Key's bum. It's The Real Pod, really sorry. Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod: Who is going to win Dancing With the Stars NZ?

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week the pod has been cursed with an almighty stench, but that won't stop us recording our first full-length international podcast. It was an explosive semi-final week on Dancing With the Stars NZ, containing everything from smooth sax, non-consensual bum-drumming and a terrible cover of 'Timber'. There's also some extremely exciting Real News about Brussels sprouts, dogs on trains and Jane's first celebrity sighting in LA (lady who was an extra on C.S.I). Also, you won't believe what Colin Mathura-Jeffree bought at the supermarket this week. It's The Real Pod, really. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. The Real Pod: How many idiots does it take to record a podcast?

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on The Real Pod, we've absolutely Real Pod-ed it. It was throuple week on Dancing With the Stars NZ, but we were struck with a nightmare trio of our own: technical difficulties, geographical changes and a series of unfortunate events. The result? The Real Pod: In which Jane knee slides away to the Americas

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. It's an extremely emotional episode of The Real Pod, as Jane farewells her podmates Duncan and Alex for a life of glitz and glamour in Los Angeles, USA. Never fear, though, your weekly dose of reality TV and real news will continue via video link across the ocean. Besides, someone's got to keep tabs on Max Key's international shenanigans, so it might as well be Jane. We also recap the past week on Dancing With the Stars NZ, where Laura Daniel ended up in the bottom two despite being at the top of the leaderboard, Clinton Randall didn't wear shoes and the judges wore many, many sets of funny glasses. There's also some real news about tattoos, websites and jingles, because we are a serious current events podcast. It's The Real Pod, baby! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. The Real Pod: In which we nearly set off the studio smoke alarm

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. It's Jane's second to last podcast in New Zealand and we have pulled out all the stops: a fire hazard, a cheesy bread cake from Nando's and some incredibly interesting analysis of everyone's favourite dancing show. There's an injury sustained live on pod, there's a brief monopod about beauty Youtubers that nobody asked for, and there's ice cold taurine fizz. We also run you through the news of the week, including an organic Nando's celebrity sighting, The Spinoff's big award winning evening, and Laura Daniel's new zombie programme. The Real Pod: Has Duncan cursed Dancing With the Stars NZ?

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on the pod we are absolutely snowed under with exciting news from the reality TV world, the real world, and the Nando's world. There's a 24 year-old sheep knocking around, the old Milo formula is the new Milo formula and Jane accidentally bought Andrew Jury's vacant tattoo space. There's also Dancing With the Stars NZ, which Duncan has singlehandedly ruined via one sacred eight minute monopod. Mike McRoberts sashayed away, Randall ripped off his shirt and K'Lee sand a beautiful song. Also: we review some corn lollies because it is our civic duty. It's... The Real Pod! Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod: In which the holy trinity unites once more

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. You asked for it: we're all back in the same room, at the same time. Kind of. Alex is 20 minutes late and Jane got the time wrong, so Duncan starts an eight minute monopod. There's much to cover in the news this week, from the dog that lived for 51 weeks in the wild to the woman who thinks prunes should be handed out on planes. There's also drama of Dancing With the Stars NZ, which 2/3 of the podmates are still enjoying very much. K'Lee pinched her nerve and made breaking news on The Project NZ, our heavenly father Colin Mathura-Jeffree was in the audience on Monday night, and Mike McRoberts needs to do some hot yoga STAT. The Real Pod: In which Jane's dreams finally come true

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. With Duncan in Thailand, Alex and Jane (and occasionally Tina) shoulder the burden of recapping the past week in reality TV and extremely real news. There's a bloody big cat on the loose in the South Island, there's a goat in the supermarket and there's Mi Goreng in bougie toasties now. Beyond that, there's all the thrills and spills of Dancing With the Stars NZ. Randall and his partner did a crazy cartwheel thing, Glen Osbourne made everyone cry, and Carolyn Taylor was gone much too soon. There's also a tantalising chat about dreams. It’s the Real Pod, and it’s as real as they come. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. The Real Pod: Dancing With the Stars NZ is sweeping us off our feet

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week Duncan is cavorting around Melbourne so Jane and Alex meet at the dining room table to talk about another hot week on this dance floor we call life. Need all the celebrity goss from the Avengers premiere? We've got you covered. Want to know how bad Cadbury Buttons eggs are now? No worries. Want some dance analysis from two complete amateurs? Boy, are you in luck. Dancing With the Stars NZ continues to be bloody great. Carolyn Taylor kicked so high that she's inspired our latest #viral challenge, Clinton Randell has swooped in and stolen our hearts and Jude (and our beloved cornie Matt Tatton-Brown) are gone to soon. The Real Pod: In which the dancing stars are actually good

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in reality television and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. In the hangover of Married at First Sight Australia, we are overjoyed to shimmy onto the shiny lino of Dancing With the Stars NZ. Well, two of us are. Duncan only watched Laura's dance on Instagram. Which celebrity is the frontrunner? Why wasn't Jude allowed to whip Matt? And what in the world is Walter Neilands? Beyond that, we review a Marie Kondo experience gone awry, check in with Max Key's globe trotting adventures and experience some technical difficulty that will push the podmates to their absolute limit. The Real Pod: We made it to the end of our journey with MAFS AU

It's been a long and emotional journey full of highs, lows, onesies and toaster pizzas, but Married at First Sight Australia is finally over. Join us as we try to make sense of the final explosive dinner party, and the reunion to end all reunions. Why is Sam such a coward? Are Ines and Elizabeth friends now? And why is Mike the worst guy to ever walk planet Earth? Beyond that, we review a fun size Milky Way bar, have some discourse about the merits of Twitter and watch a hippo fart video. The Real Pod: The MAFS honesty box is open and the dancing stars are here

The Real Pod assembles to dissect Married at First Sight Australia and the Dancing With the Stars NZ cast, with special thanks to Nando’s. We know we've said this before, but this episode is a proper chaos pod. Fuelled by lollies and the promise of Nando's, your friendly podmates plough through the final single dates on MAFSAU. Heidi and Mike hit choppy waters in more ways than one, Mark makes a ham and cheese croissant and Cam nearly proposes to Jules with a fake diamond bracelet. Beyond that, we are also limbering up for Dancing With the Stars NZ. Will Nadia's involvement have an impact on Alex's My Food Bag? Will Duncan ever find out who Walter from Sticky TV is? The Real Pod: Mike has a meddle and Cam has a cry

This week on The Real Pod, we've got two weeks of MAFS madness to recap. Billy and Susie went to hell and back again, and then Billy had to come back one more time to get his fish oil. Ivan the Terrible was the nail in the coffin for Nic and Cyrell, Michael is rocking his long hair like Fabio and Ines is saying some truly outrageous things in her Instagram stories. There's also Jessika and Dan's ever-growing web of lies, Cam's big old emotional dump and Ning and Mark's sexploits (or lack thereof). What more can you expect from such a rude week on MAFS AU, complete with naked calendar shoots, brazen buttcracks and passionate party pashing? Jessika has finally dumped mucky Mick, Suzy has exploded at Billy over a Splenda nightmare, and Heidi and Mike are fizzling out on the Goldie. Why is Jessika trying to sleep with everyone's husbands? Why has Mike tattooed his bald head? Why is Dino recording everything? Why has Nic grown a tiny moustache? So many questions, so few answers. The Real Pod: Duncan returns with a Jersey Shore tan

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the last few weeks in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s.   This week on the podcast, Duncan returns from the wilderness with a Jersey Shore tan and having watched zero television like the useless co-host he is. This, coupled with Alex's absence doing real, important work, meant Jane carried a very heavy load, recapping five shows essentially alone. By way of penance Duncan ate three squares of the 6.7m Scoville chilli chocolate and promptly went into a full body sweat while waves of nausea pitched across him. Pod highlights include the fearful recounting of new pods from Sam Levi and Art and Matilda, doubtless the beginning of the end for the #realpod, and extremely long looks into the continuing unreal lives of the Real Housewives of Auckland through Michelle Blanchard's Instagram stories. Beyond the Primo robbery, the Christmas tree robbery and the bloody Mission Bay rubbish, there's somehow still more news to talk about. What does season two of Heartbreak Island have in store? The Real Pod: How can you watch reality TV without your eyeballs?

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on The Real Pod, we assemble with armfuls of Halloween candy to talk about the past week in reality TV and real life in New Zealand. MAFSNZ is over, so what did we learn? Jeff from Bake Off visited Tara from The Spinoff in her own home, but what colour were his eyes? And how much did Project Runway's Kerry reeeaally contribute to Meghan Markle's coat? Speaking of royals, Alex recaps a long wait to see a sliver of the Duchess' hand. Duncan reveals his dramatic night at the buffet and Jane lets rip on some no-good local youths who stole her decorative eyeballs. It's The Real Pod, and it's as real as it gets. Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod: On the big baby elephant in the room

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. Call the police, because it's time for a CHAOS POD this week. Cracking open a couple of ice cold Red Bulls, your friendly Real Pod team dissect all the real news and reality TV that you need to know. How good does TVNZ's new season look? Why is Matootles not coming back to foot island? And has Jane finally become a bona fide influencer? Beyond that, we drag our heels through the whimpering end of Married at First Sight NZ, burn our caramel over how good Bake Off is and announce an extremely exciting Nando's event. We've also got MKRNZ, Project Runway NZ and all the Max Key news you can stomach. It’s The Real Pod and it’s about as real as it gets. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. The Real Pod: We are reunited to talk MAFSNZ, Bake Off and Get It to Te Papa

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on The Real Pod, we are finally reunited... kind of. With Duncan coming and going from the studio as he pleases, we are momentarily joined by Hayden Donnell, host of the Lightbox exclusive docuseries Get It to Te Papa, to talk about unearthing the forgotten dorky treasures of New Zealand culture. With Duncan subbing back in for our typical reality TV recappery, we tackle a confusing week on Married at First Sight NZ, the extraordinary premiere of The Great Kiwi Bake Off, and the redemption of Gogglebox NZ. There's also huge news in both Max Key Corner and Colin's Cranny that you simply won't want to miss. It’s The Real Pod, and it’s really real. Hosted on Acast. The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. With Duncan holidaying in Fiji, we are joined once again by noted celebrity influencer JT Muirhead to dissect the week in reality television and real news. And what a week it has been, with the badger botching up The Bachelor Australia, Married at First Sight NZ boogie-boarding into Bali and Project Runway losing an absolute Timaru icon. Beyond that, there's a heated discussion about steeping teabags, an analysis of the plonker who broke the art needle in Wellington and some incredibly exciting Max Key news. The Real Pod: We run a reality marathon with JT from Survivor NZ

The Real Pod assembles to dissect the week in New Zealand pop culture and real life, with special thanks to Nando’s. This week on The Real Pod, Jane remains in the city of angels so Alex and Duncan are joined by honorary corndog and Survivor NZ superstar JT. Together, they mow through a huge week in reality television including the endlessly weird live finale of The Block NZ, the first four Married at First Sight NZ weddings, the premiere of Project Runway NZ and the tense hometown dates on The Bachelor Australia. Beyond that, they try to untangle a Facebook spam mystery from an ex-MKRNZ contestant, get the inside scoop on sitting on a loo backwards and eat some expired yet patriotic Roses chocolates. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode 10 – Matilda Spills the Rice

One winner. The same three losers. The final episode of The Fantasy Suite, featuring Jane Yee, Alex Casey, Duncan Greive and a special guest – only the winning Bachelorette MATILDA RICE. We have reached the end of The Bachelor journey, and celebrate accordingly with no Lindauer, no baking and no real plan. Matilda helps us to dissect the drenched week of Bachelor news, quashing rumours and revealing scoops aplenty. Does she prefer John Campbell or Paul Henry? What's Mike Puru like? How's her wrist doing? Is Art's flat nice? As the door slowly closes on The Fantasy Suite (until season two), lament not. We will be back for Dancing With the Stars whether you like it or not. Note: From now on we will publish occasional one-off podcasts covering particular one-off television events – like this look at the 20/20 Bruce Jenner interview – in addition to all our other regular reality TV pods like ‘After the Factor’ and ‘The Fantasy Suite’. These will all be gathered in one stream under the name ‘The Spinoff Podcasts’. These exist under what was formerly ‘The Fantasy Suite’, so if you’re subscribed to that on iTunes you needn’t do a thing. Otherwise: iPhone users click here to see the showpage and subscribe on iTunes or Android users should head here to subscribe via Stitcher. Hosted on Acast. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Nine – After the Final Invisible Rose Special

The huge ring has been given out, the fluorescent lights have been dialed up to 11 and Mike Puru has sunken into his enormous studded chair. It's time for the After the Final Rose special of The Bachelor NZ. Jane Yee, Alex Casey and Duncan Greive pop a Lindauer and chat about the somewhat disappointing aftermath of The Bachelor NZ. With Jane and Duncan attending the 700 hour-long filming of After the Final Rose, there are scoops aplenty (mostly that they served cheese and crackers and Brigette's beard-boobs). There's a few exciting announcements – The Bachelor season two, the return of Dancing With the Stars NZ and our subsequent sequinned podcasting plans. From there, things slowly descend from the dizzying heights of The Heritage conference room to the depths of social media, where we scrape around for the last koala nuggets hiding at the bottom of The Bachelor barrel. Note: From now on we will publish occasional one-off podcasts covering particular one-off television events – like this look at the 20/20 Bruce Jenner interview – in addition to all our other regular reality TV pods like ‘After the Factor’ and ‘The Fantasy Suite’. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Eight – Looking For the Final Rose

We celebrate the end of our quest for Forever Love with a Forever Podcast. Jane Yee, Alex Casey and Duncan Greive finally get their long-sought after Lindauer sponsorship, and drank it watching a landmark television event: the end of New Zealand's first ever Bachelor franchise. It promised much and delivered more, from bad bottom animals to mouthy mums to Gollum-esque jewellers. We loved every ridiculous moment, and spent way too long chewing on its delicious fat. And as a reward for listeners who grow weary of the excessive analysis of this skimpy bikini of a show – Duncan has a bombshell rumour dropping near the end that is potentially maybe something you might want to stick around for, as Art would say. Note: From now on we will publish occasional one-off podcasts covering particular one-off television events – like this look at the 20/20 Bruce Jenner interview – in addition to all our other regular reality TV pods like ‘After the Factor’ and ‘The Fantasy Suite’. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Seven – Back in the Straddle

Jane Yee, Alex Casey and Duncan Greive gather again to the Fantasy Suite to discuss the hometown visits week of the Bachelor NZ, and farewell the wonderful Poppy, farted her way into our hearts all those weeks ago. We discuss Alysha's big straddle, Dani's doorway pash and Matilda's adorable old dad Ken. It's an emotional episode, with just one week to go, not helped by the fact we finally forewent Lindauer in protest at their continued refusal to sponsor our show, or even acknowledge its existence. Note: From now on we will publish occasional one-off podcasts covering particular one-off television events – like this look at the 20/20 Bruce Jenner interview – in addition to all our other regular reality TV pods like ‘After the Factor’ and ‘The Fantasy Suite’. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Six – Pash Wednesday

Jane Yee, Alex Casey and Duncan Greive recap week six on the #TFSPod, returning to the sunny BOP to watch Art and his merry mistresses fly helicopters and planes, row boats and catch fish, and pash like animals. We start to get a bit too deep this week, talking directly to the Bachelorettes, and Art's mother, and spend a long, long time – yet not nearly long enough – discussing New Zealand's new feline superhero, Miaowsker. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Five

After three long weeks the original gang is back together. Alex is back from Melbourne and Duncan back from dinner with his mum, while Jane's busily raising her babies, as always. We drank a bottle of Lindauer Fraise – not our favourite – and ate a lot of lollies, then talked about this week's Bachelor episodes. Jane got hung up on Danielle B's shorts and Duncan dreamed of Greenie – while Alex began to tire of him. It's an hour in The Fantasy Suite – come on in. Download from iTunes here, go to Stitcher/any other podcast provider. (Let us know in the comments if you can’t find it at your favourite spot, and we’ll try and get it there). The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Four

With Alex battling to complete her power rankings ahead of a trip to Melbourne, Duncan and Jane had a one-on-one in The Fantasy Suite (not like that) to discuss the week's Bachelor NZ action. Topics covered include a week of not kissing, Natalie's failure to launch and the dramatic showdown between Alyssa and Chrystal. All washed down with a delicious bottle of Lindauer 'Summer'. Note: we still desperately want that sponsorship... Listen below, download from iTunes here, go to Stitcher/any other podcast provider. The Bachelor NZ: The Fantasy Suite Podcast, Episode Three

Duncan, aka Dad, was away this week, so Jane and Alex had the pod all to themselves. They took advantage of the freedom and drank a bottle of delicious Lindauer rosé while watching Wednesday's dynamite episode. Then they talked about kissing, sushi protocol, ziplines, dress recycling and the week's Bachelor news – but essentially just kissing. For nearly an hour.
