S01E04 - Die Maus In Dem Haus - The Mouse In The House - Private Online German Lessons - CEFR Level A1

Die Maus in dem Haus (German A1) The Mouse in the House (German A1) Eines Morgens wachte ich auf und hörte ein Geräusch. One morning I woke up and heard a sound. Etwas knabberte an meinem Bettpfosten. Something gnawed at my bed post. I looked what it could be and saw a small mouse under the bed. Offensichtlich hatte sie großen Hunger. Obviously she had great hunger. So I went to the kitchen and brought her some cheese and bread. The mouse made big eyes and was very happy about the delicious cheese and the bread. She was a bit nervous and ate everything very quickly. After she had eaten up the cheese and the bread, she licked her lips and her mouth. Then she squeaked a loud “Thank You” and sprang on her strong hind legs out of the open window onto the balcony and into the bushes. Das Ende The End Vielen Dank für das Zuhören und bis bald! Die Honigbienen (German A1) The Honey Bees (German A1) Hallo und guten Tag! Hello und good day! My name is Alexander Beck and I come from Germany. Today we will learn interesting information about honey bees. Honigbienen fliegen von einer Sonnenblume zur Nächsten. Honey bees fly from one sunflower to the next. They collect pollen and nectar for their bee colony. Bees are unbelievably good navigators and fly very complex routes. Bees fly up to six kilometres in order to find pollen and honey. Scientists have found that bees navigate with the help of the sun. They have also discovered that bees communicate with each by dancing their route for other bees. Bee sting only very seldom and are friendly and inquisitive adventurers. These fascinating insects are an important element of nature, because they are elemental for the pollination of plants. Bees are very social creatures and live according to the principle: one for all and all for one. Whenever you see a bee that needs help, take the time and help her, because without bees no plants and also no honey can exist. S01E02 - Die Kaffeepause - The Coffee Break - Private Online German Lessons - CEFR Level A1

Die Kaffeepause (German CERF A1 Level) The Coffee Break (German CERF A1 Level) Hallo! Mein Name ist Alexander Beck. Hello! My name is Alexander Beck. I live in London where the sun always shines. I am thirsty and want to drink a coffee. Wie macht man einen Kaffee auf Deutsch? How does one make a coffee in German? Das ist einfach zu lernen! That is easy to learn! I fill up the water cooker and boil (cook) the cold water until it is hot. While I wait, I take the milk and the sugar and coffee out of the fridge. Then I put a bit of coffee, milk, sugar and hhot water in the coffee cup. Ich rühre alles in der Kaffeetasse um. I stir around everything in the coffee cup. Now my coffee is ready and I can drink it. Igitt! Yuck! My coffee does not taste good, because coffee with milk and sugar tastes horrible. Many thanks for listening and until the next time! S01E01 - Der Kulturschock - The Culture Shock - Private Online German Lessons CEFR Level A1

THE PRIVATE GERMAN LESSONS PODCAST SERIES Der Kulturschock (Deutsch CEFR Niveau A1) The Culture Shock (German CEFR Level A1) Hallo und guten Tag! Hello and good day! My name is Alexander Beck and I come from Germany. I was born in the beautiful and big harbour town Hamburg. I lived there, until I was sixteen years old and then I immigrated to England. Because I had and still have a British passport, I did not need a visa. However, I experienced a great culture shock, because the family moved from a large and expansive metropolis to a small and rural town in England’s southwest. The small town in the southwest of England had no cinema and also no public swimming bath. The local supermarket was the largest building in town. Suddenly I found myself at the end of the world. The next largest town was Bath and ten miles away, but I had no car and the busses were very unreliable and irregular. At weekends I usually travelled to Bath or sometimes also to Bristol, to buy film and photographic paper for my camera and darkroom, because photography was and is my hobby. I photographed nature and also made photos of the negative effects and consequences of the recession in the neighbouring towns. Colour photography I don’t find so interesting, because black and white photography has much more to do with geometric forms as well as light and shadows. Naturally this is personal preference and different people like different aspects of photography. S01E00 - Introduction To The Private German Lessons Podcast Series

Hello and welcome to the Private German Lessons Podcast Series! The aim of these auto-didactic podcasts is to help learners of German better understand and comprehend the few differences and many similarities between English and German. Believe it or not, the two languages are quite closely related to each other and feature many so-called loan words, which are either identical or very similar in pronunciation, spelling, and meaning. A few examples include such nouns as: The Bear ---> Der Bär The Rose ---> Die Rose The House ---> Das Haus or  The School ---> Die Schule Some verbs which sound and indeed are very similar include: going ---> gehen  flying ---> fliegen swimming ---> schwimmen or hearing ---> hören The same is of course also true of English and German adjectives such as for example: red ---> rot cold ---> kalt loud ---> laut or round ---> rund The complete written transcript of every podcast is presented in parallel German and English for the sake your better understanding and visualisation of both languages and their structures. The transcripts can be found in the description of each podcast as well as on my website  www.privategermanlessons.co.uk where you can also book online Skype German lessons with me. I will also provide a link to the transcripts below.
