“What is going on with you? You don’t seem like you want to be here at all.” That was what I found myself asking a new coach I had hired 10 minutes into our first session earlier this week. The coach froze and her eyes grew wide. She seemed genuinely surprised that I was able to ‘read her mind’ and she started fumbling to come up with lame excuses. All that to say, the call did not last much longer after that and I won’t be using her services again. The crazy part is- she has amazing credentials, an awesome website, and she puts out impressive content. But the truth is, I would 1000x rather give my money to a less experienced Modern Mystic who was fully present, enthusiastic, and actually wanted to f*cking be there, than to the most experienced person on the planet who has negative energy and thought it wasn’t worth their time. I’m willing to bet most of your potential clients would agree with me as well! And look, it wasn’t because of any special intuitive abilities on my part that I was able to perceive the negative vibe she was giving off. Every human is born with the innate ability to read energy whether they're consciously aware of it or not. This week, listener Erin writes: “Hi! I'm passionate about my spiritual business, but I'm struggling to find the right balance between following my passion and actually making money. Can you share some advice on how to create a sustainable business that still aligns with my passions and values?"   So this is a great question and a challenge every Modern Mystic Entrepreneur will eventually come up against.     In general, answering your calling is clearly less complicated if what you are called to do, the way you are called to serve the world, conveniently also happens to align with a “socially accepted” job and career like a kindergarten teacher, lawyer, accountant, or doctor. When your calling falls into a career like this, you don’t have to spend time with those uncomfortable feelings about ‘profiting’ off of your passion.   But, on the other hand, what about when the thing you are most passionate about and are called to do is most definitely NOT a job that you can go online and apply for on Indeed.com? What I am talking about here is when you have a calling just as strong, but a path less clear. Most Soul-Centered Entrepreneurs fall into this category.   So what does this mean?   Well, not only do we have to forge our own path to gain the insight, skills, and experience we need to share our gifts with the world, but we then also have to create our own business as well!   The good news is, the same strength, determination, and passion that got you here, to this place, where you have stepped into your power as a spiritual being and Modern Mystic are the same things that will be essential in building your business and making money.   And I promise you, you CAN make money while still being true to yourself and doing what you love.   In this episode we go into all of this and some practical steps on navigating this tricky balancing act.   So come on and join me!    P.S. I’m really clear on my vision and what I want to build with my business, but every time I sit down to get started I freeze, I get distracted. Any advice on getting started? -Megan Does this sound familiar?! Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there! In the second episode of my new Modern Mystic Entrepreneur Podcast, me and my business partner (who also conveniently happens to be my husband) Jon, sit down and give some of our best tried and true tips for getting started…When you just can’t get started! I’ll go ahead and give you the first step…Check in with your body! I’ve found that sometime when we sit down (even with a clear plan on exactly what we are going to be working on) but instead find ourselves: -Putting together the perfect Spotify playlist (for work of course wink wink) -endlessly scrolling Facebook, IG, TikTok -Doom scrolling news sites -Googling whatever the Eff random thought that just popped in your head There may be a block going on.  So step 1: Back away from the laptop, find a quiet place to sit or lie down, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes (if you feel comfortable) and check in: -What is going on in my body? Am I tired? Am I hungry? Are my allergies acting up? -What is going on in my emotions? Am I sad? Am I frustrated? Is there some feeling bubbling up I need to take some time to just sit with? -What is going on in my thoughts? Is there some thought hanging out in there that is stressing me out? Is there a situation that I need to address first before I can work? Really the emphasis here is to just check in with yourself! Is the inability to get started related to having a block- physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually? So once that’s been addressed and you are all systems cleared for productivity, we talk you through some of our most successful for strategies on: -How to make getting started easy as 1,2,3 -What EXACTLY to start with -How to build momentum -What is truly the biggest obstacle to your success Plus, other creative (and potentially scandalous😅) incentives to get you started.
