From Yahoo Messenger to Metaverse with Serial Entrepreneur Shaukat Shamim: TIT131

You'll learn how the internet has changed our world, the whole jargon around Web 3.0 and Metaverse and why should normal people like you and I should care about it.   Back in 2004-5, When I was in my school, I used to go to the Cybercafe to chat with strangers on Yahoo! Messenger. I vividly remember the interface and chat rooms where one could strike up conversations with people from across the world.   It was the new way that me and my friend had just discovered to meet people on the internet. We'd ask them about their culture and share ours.   During that time, far away in Silicon Valley, Shaukat Shamim was leading the team that developed the iconic Yahoo! Messenger. And on today's episode, it is such a pleasure on having Shaukat on the Inspiring Talk podcast.   Shaukat is a successful serial entrepreneur and technologist with a long track record of driving breakthrough tech innovations. He is someone who's seen the internet from the very beginning and its evolution.   We now have a telegram community for our listeners. Proximity is Power: Surround Yourself With Achievers| TIT72

"You are the average of five people you spend the most time with." You must have heard this quote from Jim Rohn for over a zillion times. But this one piece of advice can transform your life for good.  When I worked as a Research Scientist, I was surrounded by people who'd always complain and were not happy with their life. As a result of this environment, I lost passion and eventually became frustrated with what I was doing. That was the moment when I realized I need to change my circle.  I started my podcast to pick brain of most successful and inspiring people. I was blown away by the mindset at which these people were playing. On my job, I had people around me who were complaining about the food in the cafeteria, their boss and salary. And during the nights and weekend, I was chatting with people who would talk about their vision to impact people's lives.  Their insights and vision radically transformed the way I'd show up in the world. And within fifteen months of starting my show, I got enough courage to quit my job.   When I look back today, it was those interviews and people that I surrounded myself with that helped me find my true purpose in helping people tap into their true potential.   Enjoy the episode! Find Your Tribe: Thursday Inspiration | TIT61

Do you wish you were a part of a group that is on a similar journey as yours. And the people of this group totally understand your mission and your problems and encourages you to push your boundaries and celebrate your success?   That's your tribe. On this episode I am gonna talk about what exactly is a tribe, why should you be part of it and how you can contribute to your tribe.   The reason I am doing this is because last weekend, I attended one of the most amazing events of my life called Lifeplugin Summit in Shimla. On this event, about 140 people deeply passionate about personal growth and continuous learning just like me came together for three days of learning from the teachers and each other. The connections that we shared, the energy and vibe of that event just blew my mind. After that event, I came back not only feeling more inspired and more hungry for my personal growth but with a group of people whom I can call my family. They are as passionate as I am about personal growth. That;s what a tribe is.   Seth Godin put it very beautiful when he wrote:   “A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. For millions of years, human beings have been part of one tribe or another. A group needs only two things to be a tribe: a shared interest and a way to communicate.”    If you are an entrepreneur find the tribe of entrepreneurs who have hunger and drive as you have. If you are a writer find a community where writers come together to talk about their failures and successes. Just go out there and find a community around what you love. If you can't find one- be a leader- Start one. This helps you in staying focused on your goal and learn from each other.

Build The Habit of Journaling: Thursday Inspiration | TIT51

Journaling is one of the most common habits among the guests I have interviewed on The Inspiring Talk podcast.  After I was recommended to do this by many guests, I started to journal regularly since almost a year now and I can say this is one of the most powerful habits to start your day with.  Three reasons to Journal: 1. Journaling helps you get Clarity of your Thoughts: The simple act of writing down your thoughts on paper clears your mind from muddy, maddening or confusing thoughts and let you see your day through clear lens.    “Once we get those muddy, maddening, confusing thoughts [nebulous worries, jitters, and preoccupations] on the page, we face our day with clearer eyes.”  Julia Cameron, Author of Book- The Artist's Way   2. Journaling helps you reconnect with your goals and dreams: Journaling helps you reconnect with your goals and dreams  and vision every single morning. It is very important for us to get aligned with our goals and vision to achieve them. When you reiterate your goals every single morning by writing it down, It's just so powerful that you know what exactly you should be doing today to get a step closer to your goals. And also, it's opportunity to do course correction if you are drifting away from your goals.   3. It helps you Keep your mind positive: One of the most powerful things I do as a part of my daily routine is counting my blessings. Which means recording gratitude. Every single morning I make it a point to feel grateful and happy for what I have. These things not necessarily be materialistic things i posses but as simple as the food I have, the oxygen that i breathe, or the roof over my head. The health that i have, my parents. As simple as it might sound, but counting your blessings has a very powerful positive impact on your mind. You will feel much happier with your life while everyone else is complaining about what they don't have in their life.    Resources: Journal that I recently bought. The Art of Storytelling with Mehak Mirza Prabhu: TIT47

Mehak Mirza Prabhu's story is one of the most powerful stories that I have came across in the recent past. Being born on simple Maharastrian family, Mehak was living her life as a very protected child till she reached the age of 19. Her life took crazy turn as series of events happened in her life from losing her entire family to a brutal car accident to going through depression after separation with her husband at the age of 30.   Mehak fought through all this to gift this world with something that she always had within herself, the art of storytelling.   She is an amazing writer and storyteller who captivates her audience with the blend of her unique style of storytelling and dramatic twists on stories. Some of her stories has went viral on social medias.       Some Question I ask Mehak: What is so liberating about sharing stories with other people? Trashing The Average Tag: The Inspiring Talk | TIT32

I was a very average student while I was in school. Everyone said that. My parents always answered saying, Ya Bijay is just an average student, he neither fails nor Tops the class when somebody asked them about my study.   My teachers also always said that, and I was categorized as an average student. That statement kept coming over and over again from them. When it kept coming repeatedly for some years, I, somehow at that point in time believed on what they said and accepted that label of an average student all my schooling. Bijay is an Average student. I believed them and I had those Mark Sheets to reinforce those statements. I even recall myself saying several times while in school, I am doing just fine when someone from distance relatives or new people asked me about my study. I also remember going to toppers and saying you are amazing. I can't even think of topping in my life.  I think I was happy with what I had. The label of an average guy. Because that's what I have been told all my life right. Nobody ever said Bijay you are topper you can top the class. Never. Nor my parents nor teachers because they believed I cannot ever do that and made me believe as well over years. And I completed my high school and now was time for college. I moved to Kathmandu for entrance exam preparation. And I was not able to make it to the college that I wanted to as my teachers and parents expected. I don't know why but that incident stir something inside me. Not being able to clear that entrance means I had to adjust to an average college and be happy with average marks and lead an average life. Now, I got admitted to a college in Delhi NCR. And I remember very clearly saying to myself after coming to Delhi. Even if I was not able to make it to the best college, I am going to be the best wherever I am. I desperately wanted to trash the average tag I was given all my life. I no longer wanted to live with that Average Student label I was given by people around me. I somehow made myself believe that I can do that. I remember working so hard in my college. There were many challenges in front of me. I came from Nepal, so language was a barrier, I couldn't speak hindi, It was a huge cultural change, I had to adjust myself. I knew nobody and noone was there for moral support. But still I knew and believed I am not meant to be an average student. And Guess what? First Year- I topped the college, Second Year- I again topped the college and also awarded with the best student Award, Third Year- I was awarded with full fee waiver scholarship and Last Year- I graduated as a topper and got a placement at top company.  And on first three month of the on job-training at this top company, I was awarded with most outstanding candidate award from global leader.   Want to start your own podcast?  Let me help you right from coming out with idea to launching your first episode ever. Get in touch.   Remember, the average guy is now the most outstanding candidate. Because I believed that I could be one. Because I decided to trash the Average tag. That one thought of not accepting the tag given by people around me made that difference in my life. Imagine I would have been an average student all my life if I have not chosen to seek that potential within myself. Each one of us has got it within ourselves.   Guys, Louise Hay said If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you. It's up to you whether you wanna live with label of an Average person given by people around you or trash that label and turn your identity as a outstanding candidate. It's just the matter of belief. If you believe you can than there's no force ever created that can stop you. because you have the power to become unstoppable and trash the average tag. Power of Choices: Thursday Inspiration | TIT30

You are making choices every single moment in your life. Whether it is to watch a movie or read a book, go on a party on weekend or build business. You are making those choices every moment. Your life at moment is reflection of all the decisions or choices you have made in the past. One good choice can transform your life just the way it did for Abdul in the story I have shared in this episode. Stop complaining and take responsibility because you were born to soar higher like an eagle not to quack and complain like the duck. Make that life changing choice, plan and stick to it. You will astound yourself. May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears. -Nelson Mandela     Subscribe, Rate and Review the show on: Apple Podcasts Stitcher CastBox on Android Play Music Follow The Inspiring Talk podcast on Facebook Twitter Instagram
