The governor of Louisiana recently pardoned and released 40 convicted murderers onto the streets, foregoing the one most basic responsibility of the civil magistrate, which is to execute murderers. The worldwide faith tradeoff from North and West to South and East was laid out in the 2023 release of Gordon Conwell Seminary’s Status of Global Christianity Report — a stark illustration of the collapse Western Christianity. Christian adherents in Europe and North America as a percentage of the world population dropped by more than half between 1900 and 2023 (from 21.9% to 10.5%), while the percentage of Christians in Asia, Africa, and South America increased from 6% to 21.9% of the world population. The two world people groups had exchanged positions over 123 years. The South ascended while the North declined. Every day on The Worldview, we feature another story of the persecution of believers somewhere around the world. Well, today, on Generations Radio, guest host Adam McManus interviews Michael Parves, a 61-year-old native Pakistani missionary, whom McManus met personally at church in San Antonio, Texas, who has experienced persecution first hand.  After growing up as a nominal Catholic who attended church twice a year, God got Michael's attention in 1993 when he miraculously survived a train crashing into his car. Since he trusted Christ as Savior, he has planted 33 churches! But Satan hates to see the advancement of God’s Kingdom. So, in the Muslim-majority country, Michael's spiritual antagonists have burned down three separate homes of his in 2007, 2013, and 2020—all because he refuses to deny Christ and follow Allah. Plus, his eldest son was kidnapped in 2013, tortured for two weeks, and left for dead at 12 midnight in the street. Open Doors lists Pakistan as the seventh most dangerous country to be a Christian. Five years ago, Michael founded an orphanage which now houses 87 children. (It costs $30/month to provide food, clothing, and medical care per child.) Providing food for the kids has become increasingly difficult with the skyrocketing 42% inflation rate. The progress of the green religion is pretty impressive. They tend not to lose their political and cultural battles. Now cities in America have signed up for a program called C-40 intended to ban meat, dairy, and private vehicles by the year 2030. That includes: Austin, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. This is the doctrine of demons, and the basis is preposterous—greenhouse emissions, the worship of scientism, and earth worship.

Incredibly, for the first time in modern history, more Americans favor homeschooling than those who favor public schooling. Sixty to seventy percent of Americans maintain a favorable perspective on homeschooling, but only 29% of Americans have confidence in public schools. More Republicans (74%) than Democrats (56%) or unaffliateds (62%) approve of homeschooling for children. Why such enthusiastic support? But what about the 18% of homeschooled kids who oppose homeschooling? We provide four reasons why homeschooling might turn bad.

Children’s church, youth ministry, and highly age-segregated church programming fit well into the new social structures of the 20th century, but could not find basis in Scripture. Getting away from God’s order for family and church has been catastrophic for both. What if the church did what the church is supposed to do, and Christian families did what the family is supposed to do? What if both family and church experienced spiritual revival in the 21st century? What would happen in twenty years? 

The Gen Z’ers are “the best educated generation yet.” And they are 70% socialist as compared to 53% of Gen X’ers, 49% of Baby Boomers, and 39% of the Silent Generation. The correlation between the percentage of kids attending college and the percentage bending socialist is almost perfect. Phenomenal! Do you really want to pay $250,000 just to be sure your daughter will vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2028 elections while she gets a liberal, liberal arts education at Dartmouth or Yale or Christian colleges like Wheaton?

Christians are exhorted to be very discerning here, especially when buying birthday cards. Yes, Hallmark conveys a humanist worldview more often than not. This self-definition-obsessed existentialist worldview now runs on steroids and has affected everything from birthday cards to movies.

Over the years, the government has made efforts to eliminate all danger in the forms of making various things illegal. Is it the government's responsibility to get rid of any and all safety concerns, or is risk ultimately a part of life? So many years ago, pastors and presidents would call for days of repentance, fasting, and prayer when disaster struck. But those days are long gone. When the Tower of Siloam fell or when fires struck Maui, Jesus would say, “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” Does that sound compassionate to you, or does the present age define compassion wrongly? Our response first is the fear of God, and then repentance, and faith, and an increased awareness of His judgements and mercies. 

Some Christian sects forbid all alcohol, alcoholic mouthwash, and painkillers altogether. Others rush into alcohol and tobacco with great zealousness and a distinct lack of sobriety. Men of the world look at alcohol, marijuana, peyote, and the like as essentials for a decent “good time.” But what about us? Shall we be filled with the spirits, or filled with the Holy Spirit, as the basic constituent of glad fellowship? More importantly, how do we prepare our young men to be sober, grave, thoughtful, wise, temperate, and full of Holy Spirit fruits? 

As those of Hindu persuasion and background increasingly take up the reins of governments in the post-Christian West, will they bring Sati back? Persecutions are stepping up in Hindu and Muslim countries, and Hindus and Muslims are increasingly involved in US and UK politics. The worldview switch will have consequences in the world. What is the big lesson for the remnant of Christians remaining in the West?

On this edition of Generations, Kevin Swanson and Steve Vaughan discuss a recent Wall Street Journal article stating middle-aged Americans are leaving the church in droves. Disillusionment with recent scandals is a big problem, but many say it's because they got too busy to go back. Is Christianity just a brief oasis or a halfway house that we go to to make ourselves feel better, or are we on a battleground where our faith is tested and grown through trials?

What happens to a world that has abandoned a Christian worldview and has reverted to a science that does not fear God? Scorched earth warfare came back with a vengeance in the civil war under the military leadership of Sherman and Sheridan, and continued through the 20th century. The modern humanist-scientist developed a technology that could destroy a fairly large percentage of the world's population rather quickly. J. Robert Oppenheimer and Enrico Fermi are responsible—more aligned with a secular materialist, agnostic, and Hindu worldview than a Christian worldview. Then, Truman and Stimson were responsible for pushing the buttons. Nimitz, MacArthur, and Eisenhower were not supportive. But the more fundamental question is: How does this stand up against Deuteronomy 20?

Women on average are making 32% more than they did in 1979 (on weekly earnings). Men are making 4% less. In 2021, almost twice as many women than men joined the workforce. The trend continues. Of all the net jobs the economy added in the past year, 3.3 million went to women and 3.1 million went to men. This socio-economic formula is unsustainable. Inflation has eaten away the standard of living by a huge percentage since 1979, but the dry rot is more a character problem than anything else.

The “Gay” worldview is pushed pretty hard in schools today, but contrast that with a God-centered worldview. There is a significant contrast between a gay-full and a joyful school. We move into some practical tips on how to retain a God-centered view and a joyful homeschool as we enter the new school year. 

America has revealed its heart in every referendum since the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Every state has voted for abortion . . . Kansas . . . Kentucky . . . Montana. . . . Now, Ohio is facing the vote of the century this year. All eyes are on Ohio. What will the heart of this nation do when it comes to voting for or against abortion in the ballot box? Where is the conscience of Ohio? Where is the conscience of the nation? Ohio's Constitutional vote in the 2023 election will be the moment of truth for the nation.

Almost half of Christians say the Bible is ambiguous on its teaching on abortion. Why didn't Jesus speak on abortion or homosexuality? Was He pro-LGBT and pro-abortion? The Old Testament law is important to establish a biblical standard of ethics on abortion. But, some use Old Testament law unlawfully. They do not handle the law in the right way. How would we handle the law as Jesus did, or as the Apostles did in Acts 15 and Matthew 15?

Whether the character of the nation, the character of the political candidates, or the character of the political system is the problem (or all three), America is descending into banana-republic type revolution and wrangling. As author/editor of a 1,000-page American history textbook, Kevin Swanson comments. But what about election fraud? Seventy-five percent of Republicans sure thought so after the 2020 elections. Do they have a reason to doubt the integrity of the election? Of course they do. But the question has more to do with "how much fraud," not so much whether there was fraud. America breaks all the commandments. Why not the 9th commandment too? We get to the major concern with President Trump on this segment.

Support for American colleges is imploding among Republican voters especially. National confidence in universities has imploded . . . 57% from 36% in just seven years. Among Republican-leaning Americans, the drop-off was even more severe from 56% to 19%. Could red-state parents be done sending their kids off to blue-state colleges for indoctrination into the wrong worldviews? But what’s plan B for our kids? 

Homeschooling has over doubled in seven years in the UK. Growth in Africa and South America is following similar increases. Here, we drop in on the Christian Homeschooling conference in Nairobi, Kenya with Liz Gitonga and Brian Ray. What are the factors contributing to the growth? Could the heart of the parent be the major factor? 

All Christians should have their children out of the California public schools by now. But, kudos to the mama bears that are coming out against the state policies. Why is homosexualism and transgenderism the very hill to die on for the left? The modern religion is characterized by autonomy, as expressed in the #1 favorite song chosen in American funerals. Modern man wants to do sexuality, gender, everything . . . “My Way.” 

What could possibly save America? Not thinking the socialist schools will do the job. . . . But then again, do we really want to save America? Obviously, only God can save . . . but what means might He choose to bring about the saving a country from the dry rot of humanism? Where might we find the most salt and light these days? Lots of questions surround a World Magazine article on this edition.

Prohibition. Just say no. Me too. The world’s moralistic fads come and go. They are rooted in inconsistencies, hypocrisies, and superficialities. An occasional arrest results in a conviction, but real substantial justice is a far-fetched notion. As far as the world rejects God’s law as the basis for ethics, they surrender themselves to relativism and the moral slippery slope. We compare the worldly notion of “consent” with God’s law here, and we are assured that God doesn’t let anything slip. He will bring every work into judgment.
