Ep. 27 - How to Protect Your Kids from Porn | Kristen Jenson & Benjamin Nolot

This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we are joined by Defend Young Minds founder Kristen Jenson to discuss protecting children from porn in the digital age. Kristen is the acclaimed author of Good Pictures Bad Pictures, a digital safety expert, and the CEO of Glen Cove Press. In 2011, Kristen found out her friend’s oldest son had sexually abused their younger children using pornography. Distraught, Kristen felt compelled to search online for resources to warn her friend’s younger children about the dangers of viewing pornography but could not find anything. She set out to create resources for parents to address pornography exposure and consumption. As she began researching and talking to parents, she realized the need was even greater. Kristen began blogging about all she was learning, and it was out of this that Defend Young Minds was born. Ep. 25 - I Went Undercover to Investigate Pornhub | Arden Young & Benjamin Nolot

Welcome to the first Exodus Cry Podcast episode of 2024! This week we sit down with Arden Young from Sound Investigations to discuss how the Traffickinghub campaign inspired her to become an investigative journalist aiming to expose the criminal activity within MindGeek/Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company. As a child actor in Hollywood, Arden was exposed to the predatory nature of the industry and witnessed inappropriate behavior involving children. Growing up, her father was a private investigator and lawyer, often including her in investigations to show her the ropes. Arden left Hollywood and her acting career in her early twenties, after which she learned of the Traffickinghub campaign. With investigative journalism in her blood, she sought to further the campaign’s efforts with a goal of getting employees to admit to continuing illegal activity. With their own personal funds, the two-person team at Sound Investigations set their sights on MindGeek in Montreal and spent five months in the field interviewing subjects and gathering information. They released their first video in September 2023. Since then, they have released six more videos with incriminating evidence against Pornhub/Mindgeek/Aylo. Ep. 24 - I Stop Men from Buying Women and Children | Tom Perez & Benjamin Nolot

In this week’s episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, we sit down with the founder and CEO of the Epik Project, Tom Perez. Epik Project actively disrupts sex buying, intervening at the point of sale to shed light on the reality of that transaction. Benjamin and Tom discuss the demand side of trafficking, touching on his experiences working with sex buyers and analyzing the culture that has groomed men to feel sexually entitled to another’s body. In 2010, Tom began engaging in the anti-trafficking fight and quickly noticed that while men are the primary drivers behind the demand that fuels sex trafficking, very few were practically involved in effective efforts to abolish it. His vision to create meaningful onramps for men to join this fight has resulted in the training, equipping and support of hundreds of volunteer men across 20 cities in North America. Ep. 23 - My "Rescuer" Trafficked Me | Jessica Kay & Benjamin Nolot

On this episode of the Exodus Cry Podcast, Benjamin Nolot sits down with Jessica Kay to discuss the intricacies of trafficking and the ways in which the illusion of choice influences a victim’s perspective on their state of abuse. Jessica is a survivor of domestic violence, homelessness and trafficking. She was trafficked by her “boyfriend” after six months of manipulation and love bombing. While in “the life,” Jessica fully believed prostitution was her choice. It wasn’t until she escaped that she recognized the coercion, abuse and manipulation. Now, Jessica is a Clinical Social Work Intern for A Better Tomorrow and is a Survivor Consultant for UNITAS. She is a member of the Nevada Coalition to Prevent the Exploitation of Children and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Nevada Policy Council on Human Trafficking. Ep. 22 - My “Boyfriend” Trafficked Me for Sex | Caroline Pugh-Roberts & Benjamin Nolot

This week on the Exodus Cry Podcast, we are joined by Caroline Pugh-Roberts, a survivor of trafficking who was swept into that world when a pimp recruited her through the lover boy method. After several instances of rape, losing her husband, mom and best friend, and undiagnosed depression, Caroline was a perfect target. Her “boyfriend” lavished her with gifts for six months, then turned the tables and forced her to sell her body to be able to “provide.” It began in strip clubs and quickly escalated to motels. After eight years of being trafficked by her pimp, she tried to escape. But it would take years before she was finally free. Now, Caroline bravely shares her story and works full-time with victims of sexual exploitation. She has received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for her work in this area, as well as the Hope award and John Robinson awards. LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rU... Ep. 11 - Sex Is for Women Too | Sheila Wray Gregoire & Benjamin Nolot

This week on the Exodus Cry podcast, we sit down with Sheila Wray Gregoire, author of The Great Sex Rescue, and host of the Bare Marriage podcast. We examine our culture's current sexual framework and the lessons we teach about sex, especially within the Christian sphere, and how these can sometimes do more harm than good within the context of marriage and relationships. She and Benjamin discuss the fact that much of the Evangelical and secular conversations surrounding sex frame it as a male need that women must tend to. Sheila has been writing and speaking about marriage and family since 2003, and specifically about sex since 2010. After almost ten years of trying to help people fix common problems with sex in marriage, she started to wonder: what if the problem isn’t a lack of good advice, but rather an abundance of bad advice? Ep. 10 - I Was Hacked and My Video Was Posted on Pornhub | Uldouz Wallace & Benjamin Nolot

Join us as Uldouz Wallace, an actress, writer, producer, and activist, shares how her life was turned upside down after a private video was leaked online and ended up on Pornhub. In 2014, Uldouz was part of the infamous iCloud hack that leaked intimate images and videos of 100 celebrity women. The video and images in question had been sent by her ex-boyfriend in an iMessage in an attempt to bribe her. Uldouz was unaware her ex had this content as it was made without her consent. After the leak, her video was posted on several porn sites, including Pornhub. She made countless attempts to have the video removed, but after each successful attempt, it would be uploaded again, sometimes just hours later. Now Uldouz advocates on behalf of women, men, and children who have been the victim of non-consensual image-based sexual exploitation. She is among a group of survivors who offered input on the PROTECT Act, a bill that would require websites that host sexually explicit material to verify the consent of anyone appearing in uploaded content, and to delete content that has been uploaded without consent. Ep. 9 - I Sold My House and Moved to Cambodia to Fight Child Sex Trafficking | Don Brewster & Benjamin Nolot

Join us as Exodus Cry Founder, Benjamin Nolot, talks with Don Brewster, Co-Founder of Agape International Missions (AIM), to discuss why he sold his house and moved to Cambodia to fight child sex trafficking. Don and AIM’s work were featured prominently in Exodus Cry’s award-winning film, Nefarious: Merchant of Souls, which reached millions of viewers worldwide, and this led to exponential growth of AIM’s anti-trafficking work. Cambodia has become notorious as thousands of tourists, often from the US, flock to the country to buy children for sex. Don was on a mission trip to Cambodia when he learned about girls being sold in the storefronts and this marked the beginning of his life-long fight against child trafficking. As they became immersed in the Cambodian community, Don and his wife Bridget began to receive intel on some of the trafficking rings. Yet, each time intel was passed to the police, the traffickers were tipped off and they escaped. After meeting with a government official in Cambodia, AIM received approval to create a SWAT team to assist in arresting traffickers and rescuing women and children. Since its inception, AIM has rescued over 1,600 survivors and assisted in the arrest of over 500 traffickers in Cambodia.LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rUqBviPAcEXPWg4Sh Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-exodus-cry-podcast/id1171898654?uo=4 Watch our films: www.exoduscry.com/watch Give & fuel the fight: www.exoduscry.com/donate Get involved: www.exoduscry.com/getinvolved Website: www.exoduscry.com Podcast: www.exoduscry.com/podcast Articles: www.exoduscry.com/articles SOCIALS:Youtube: www.youtube.com/exoduscry Instagram: www.instagram.com/exoduscry TikTok: www.tiktok.com/exoduscry Twitter: www.twitter.com/exoduscry Facebook: www.facebook.com/exoduscry Exodus Cry is a leading global anti-trafficking nonprofit organization focused on ending widespread sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, exposing this injustice for millions worldwide, and helping its victims to rebuild their lives.

Ep. 8 - GirlsDoPorn trafficked me for sex and no one believed me | Cristina Nesbit and Benjamin Nolot

Trigger Warning: This interview includes frank, explicit, discussions about rape, sex trafficking, and suicide ideation that may be triggering to some. Listener discretion is advised. In this compelling podcast episode we hear from Cristina, a sex trafficking survivor who, for the first time publicly, shares her story of being trafficked by the GirlsDoPorn producers. In brave vulnerability, Cristina describes the realities of sex trafficking in the U.S., the impact of pornography creation and consumption, and the long road to healing and justice for people who are trafficked into this industry. Cristina reveals the tactics used by traffickers to lure vulnerable women, including herself, into the sex trade, the psychological and verbal abuse she endured, and the impact it has had on her mental health and well-being.The GirlsDoPorn trafficking case was a high-profile legal battle that exposed the exploitative and abusive practices of the porn industry. In 2019, the owners and employees of the website GirlsDoPorn were indicted on charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion. The company was one of Pornhub's biggest partner channels, with 680 million views, and Exodus Cry helped to bring global attention to this case through the Traffickinghub campaign. The creators of the website, which purported to be a legitimate adult entertainment site, actually coerced young women into performing sex acts on camera under false pretenses, and then posted the videos online without their consent. Both of the creators and owners of GirlsDoPorn have now been convicted of and jailed for sex trafficking and other heinous crimes. The case brought attention to the wider issue of exploitation and trafficking in the porn industry and highlighted the need for stronger protections for performers, as well as clearer regulations to prevent such abuses from occurring in the future.LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rUqBviPAcEXPWg4Sh Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-exodus-cry-podcast/id1171898654?uo=4 Watch our films: www.exoduscry.com/watch Give & fuel the fight: www.exoduscry.com/donate Get involved: www.exoduscry.com/getinvolved Website: www.exoduscry.com Podcast: www.exoduscry.com/podcast Articles: www.exoduscry.com/articles SOCIALS:YouTube: www.youtube.com/exoduscry Instagram: www.instagram.com/exoduscry TikTok: www.tiktok.com/exoduscry Twitter: www.twitter.com/exoduscry Facebook: www.facebook.com/exoduscry Exodus Cry is a leading global anti-trafficking nonprofit organization focused on ending widespread sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, exposing this injustice for millions worldwide, and helping its victims to rebuild their lives.

Ep. 7 - Exodus Cry's First Ever Book: Raised on Porn | Helen Taylor & Benji Nolot

This episode delves into Benjamin Nolot's brand new book, Raised on Porn, available Thursday, April 13.This book was ten years in the making. Benjamin Nolot spent the last 16 years of his life investigating and documenting the global sex trade, trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, and the sexually destructive behavior that pervades our culture. In each of these, he discovered pornography to be a common thread. Raised on Porn is a carefully reasoned and thoroughly documented look at how porn has infiltrated modern life, why it matters, and how we can respond. The book goes much deeper than how porn affects those who are addicted. It unpacks how porn has poisoned the way we as humans relate to one another, and how that has been embedded into the fabric of our culture.Based on interviews with porn producers, directors, performers, neuroscientists, and mental health professionals, Raised on Porn lays out the porn problem in concrete detail while also offering practical solutions for those who are struggling with porn, and those who have a loved one who is struggling.Grab a copy of Raised on Porn here: https://www.amazon.com/Raised-Porn-Affecting-Lives-about/dp/B0BYLSK5Y5/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1RIPPVOWD8IGU&keywords=raised+on+porn+book&qid=1681236401&sprefix=raised+on+porn+book%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-2 LINKS: Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/m6Zd97bWoDo Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rUqBviPAcEXPWg4Sh Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-exodus-cry-podcast/id1171898654?uo=4 Watch our films: www.exoduscry.com/watch Give & fuel the fight: www.exoduscry.com/donate Get involved: www.exoduscry.com/getinvolved Website: www.exoduscry.com Podcast: www.exoduscry.com/podcast Articles: www.exoduscry.com/articles SOCIALS:Youtube: www.youtube.com/exoduscry Instagram: www.instagram.com/exoduscry TikTok: www.tiktok.com/exoduscry Twitter: www.twitter.com/exoduscry Facebook: www.facebook.com/exoduscry Exodus Cry is a leading global anti-trafficking nonprofit organization focused on ending widespread sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, exposing this injustice for millions worldwide, and helping its victims to rebuild their lives.

Ep. 5 - Exodus Cry's Honest Response to Money Shot Documentary | Helen Taylor & Benjamin Nolot

Netflix’s new documentary Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is currently trending. It highlights the work of anti-exploitation advocates, including Exodus Cry. This film certainly tells a story, just not the one you’d expect if you’d been following the case against Pornhub that’s been unfolding very publicly over the past three years. This week's episode is Exodus Cry's honest response to the film, what we liked, and the vital voices the documentary missed. Helen Taylor and Benjamin Nolot unpack aspects of the film and help to contextualize it to an audience that hasn't been following along with the #Traffickinghub campaign to shut down Pornhub for distributing porn that features exploitation victims. Benjamin Nolot is the CEO and Founder of Exodus Cry and Helen Taylor is the Vice President of Impact at Exodus Cry. Ep. 4 - Exposing the Porn Industry: The Making of Beyond Fantasy (Part 2) | Helen Taylor & Benjamin Nolot

In part 2 of this 3-part podcast, Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor discuss Exodus Cry's new porn industry exposé miniseries, Beyond Fantasy, specifically talking about the "teen" genre of porn featured in the first episode of the series, "Barely Legal." In "Barely Legal" porn industry insiders reveal how producers cast aside ethical boundaries to create content which promotes the fantasy of sex with children. Among porn’s most popular categories is the teen genre, which often depicts underage girls. Amid pigtails, playgrounds, and teddy bears, grown men act out sexual fantasies with performers who are at least 18 in real life, but who are made to look and act like children. In the episode, Helen and Benji talk about the urgent need for people to take action around this disturbing genre of pornography. In part 1 of this 3-part podcast, hear from Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor as they unpack Exodus Cry's new porn industry exposé miniseries, Beyond Fantasy. The porn industry creates endless images and videos that are consumed by billions worldwide, yet surprisingly little is known about how this culture-shaping content is made — or at what cost. In the episode, Helen asks Benjamin, the series' director and producer, how and why the films were made, the personal cost of creating them, and why it has been dubbed Exodus Cry's most intense film project ever. Ep. 2- The true story behind Pornhub's downfall | Helen Taylor and Benjamin Nolot

Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor give the inside scoop about the trials and successes of the global #Traffickinghub campaign that held Pornhub and its executives accountable for distributing and profiting from criminal image-based sexual abuse, including videos of rape, child abuse, and sex trafficking. In early 2020, after one of Exodus Cry's directors published "Time to Shut Pornhub Down" in the Washington Examiner, a grassroots movement exploded, demanding the "world's biggest porn site" be shut down and held accountable. The petition amassed over two million signers from 192 countries, Exodus Cry's animated video on it went viral with 34 million views, and, after the New York Times featured the story on their front page, Pornhub was faced with an atomic PR situation. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and other major brands cut ties with Pornhub, the site deleted 80% of their content—about 10 million videos—overnight, and they were hit with lawsuits from victims totaling over $1 billion. Pornhub's CEO and COO have recently stepped down and the brand has been kicked off Roku, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
