Episode 135: Lost at the Airport! | Learn and Practice Noun Clauses in this Story! Learn English the Easy Way
"Lost at The Airport”
Amanda walked into the bustling airport, scanning the crowd for her friend, Lisa. They agreed where to meet at the airport. Lisa had told Amanda that she would meet her at the information desk, but she was nowhere to be found.
She thought about calling Lisa, wondering if she had gone to the wrong terminal. Amanda was nervous that Lisa would show up late. They were on a tight schedule to catch their flight. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Lisa appeared, out of breath and apologetic. "I'm so sorry!" Lisa exclaimed. Then she explained why she got lost. “I got confused and went to the arrivals instead of departures. I had no idea where our gate was."
Amanda couldn't stay mad at her friend for long. They laughed about the mix-up, relieved that they would make it to their flight. As they made their way to the gate, Amanda thought about how important it is to double-check meeting locations, especially in a busy place like an airport.
The friends boarded the plane settled into their seats, grateful for the unexpected adventure. Little did they know that this trip would be filled with more surprises and adventures, making it a trip to remember.

Episode 110: What To Do When You Are in a Difficult Situation | Learn English with Life Advice from Robinson Crusoe
Evil vs. Good
I am cast upon a horrible desolate island, void of all hope of recovery.
BUT I am alive, and not drowned, as all my ship's company was.
I am singled out and separated as it were, from all the world, to be miserable.
BUT I am singled out, too, from all the ship's crew to be spared from death; and He that miraculously saved me from death can deliver me from this condition.
I am divided from mankind, a solitaire, one banished from human society.
BUT I am not starved, and perishing on a barren place, affording no sustenance.
I have not clothes to cover me.
BUT I am in a hot climate, where, if I had clothes, I could hardly wear them.
I am without any defence or means to resist any violence of man or beast.
BUT I am cast on an island where I see no wild beasts to hurt me, as I saw on the coast of Africa; and what if I had been shipwrecked there?
I have no soul to speak to, or relieve me.
BUT God wonderfully sent the ship in near enough to the shore, that I have gotten out so many necessary things as will either supply my wants, or enable me to supply myself even as long as I live.

There was a man named Joseph. He lived in Phoenix, Arizona. He believed that he was quite average in every aspect of his life. He never felt like he stood out. He had mediocre grades in college, and he was not athletic or physically active. Joseph felt unfulfilled and lost. He lived a life of no purpose.
One day, Joseph stumbled upon a book called Atomic Habits at the university library. He was fascinated by the way the book described how even small changes to your daily life can lead to massive results in the long run. So Joseph bought the book. It cost $23.99.
Joseph was inspired by the book's advice and decided to start his own journey towards success. He decided to make better habits for himself. He started saving nine dollars and exercising for thirty minutes every day. He also started reading the book, two pages a day. This may not seem like much, but Joseph was determined to stay consistent and trust the process. No matter how much Joseph wanted to give up, he decided to remain consistent and keep up with his new habits. Oh, he also bought a fitness watch to track his daily exercises.

Episode 77: The Story of the Necklace | English Story | Intermediate Level
Madame Loisel was a beautiful woman of average means. She lived in a small apartment in Paris with her husband, who worked as a clerk in the Ministry of Education. Madame Loisel had always wanted to lead a life of luxury and be part of the upper class society, but she was unable to do so because of her modest means.
One day, Madame Loisel received an invitation to a fancy party at a friend’s house. Excited to go, she decided to buy a new dress to wear. But Madame Loisel was disappointed when she realized that she did not have a necklace to complete her outfit.
Desperate to fit in with the other guests, Madame Loisel asked her husband to borrow a necklace from his friend, M. Forestier. M. Forestier agreed and loaned her a beautiful diamond necklace.
At the party, Madame Loisel felt glamorous and luxurious wearing the necklace. She felt like she fit in with the other guests and had a wonderful time.
At the end of the night, Madame Loisel said goodbye to her hosts and hurried home with the necklace. But when she arrived home, she realized to her horror that the necklace was not in her bag.
The next morning, Madame Loisel and her husband searched everywhere for the necklace but could not find it. Utterly desperate, they decided to replace the necklace with an imitation one of similar quality and price. This cost them a small fortune.
For the next ten years, Madame Loisel and her husband worked hard to pay off the debt caused by the necklace. They lived a meager lifestyle and sacrificed all luxuries.
Finally, at the end of ten years, Madame Loisel and her husband had paid off their debt. But one day, Madame Loisel unexpectedly ran into M. Forestier. When she asked about the necklace, he revealed that the necklace he had loaned her was a fake.
Madame Loisel was shocked with relief. She had suffered for ten years, sacrificing all luxuries, desperately trying to pay off a debt for something that was not even real. Her suffering had been in vain.

Episode 75: Where’s My Wallet? | Past Tense | Intermediate English
Waking up early has a lot of benefits – you avoid the rush of getting ready for work and you can take your time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. I usually wake up early so that I can have a relaxed start to the day. That was not the case last Thursday.
I woke up late and it completely threw off my morning routine. I had to rush to get ready and head to work. I made it to work on time and everything was smooth until my lunch break.
I had a long lunch break that day, so I decided to go grocery shopping. After finally finding everything I needed at the store and just as I was about to check out, I realized that I didn’t have my wallet with me. I thought I had left it at home, so I couldn’t buy anything. I was so frustrated! I went home during my lunch break to see if I could find my wallet. And it turned out, it was in my backpack the whole time. I guess I was just so distracted that I didn’t even remember putting it there in the morning.
This experience was definitely a lesson learned – now I always make sure to double check that I have my wallet and everything else that I need to take with me before I leave the house! But most importantly, I always wake up early to avoid being late for work.

Episode 47: Emad’s English | Past Tense and the Use of Could & Can (Beginner English)
*Emad’s English*
My name is Emad and I am from Egypt. I came to the United States four years ago. When I came here, I could not speak English at all and I didn’t have any friends. Because of that, my life was very difficult.
I only spoke Arabic. After living in the U.S. for a few months, I started working at Amazon. My job was good and I made good money, but my life was hard because I could not speak English. I wanted to travel alone to other cities and other states, but I couldn’t. One time, I got sick. I had a bad stomach ache. So I had to go to the doctor. The doctor couldn’t understand me because he didn’t speak Arabic and I didn’t speak English. So I had to call my friend to help me. I was frustrated and disappointed because I couldn’t live the life that I wanted to live. I also couldn’t make friends because of English. Then I made a big decision. I joined English classes at a school in my city. I started learning English. I practiced English every day for two hours. My English started to improve.
Now my life is very different. My life is much better than four years ago. I can speak and communicate in English well and confidently. I can do whatever I want because I can understand and speak English. I can also help my friends and family because they can’t speak much English. I helped myself and decided to learn English. Now, I can help others, as well.

*My Life in Chicago*
My name is Jason and I am 32 years old. I live in Chicago with my fiancée. I live downtown, but I don’t work downtown. I work as a chef in a restaurant outside of the city. I don’t have a car because it’s expensive to have a car. There is no free parking and traffic is terrible. So I usually take the subway. Sometimes, I take the bus and honestly, I don’t need a car.
My parents live in Tampa, Florida. They usually visit me in the summer. They hate winter. So they never come to Chicago in the winter because it is too cold. So we visit them in the winter instead. I like winter and summer in Chicago, but I like summer better than winter. Chicago is much colder than Tampa. It is also much bigger and busier than Tampa. I enjoy living in Chicago and there are many things to do both in winter and summer.
My life is good because I have a great job and a wonderful fiancée and I live in a great city, Chicago. I love my job, but one day, I want to open my own restaurant.

You can definitely join us for the Spanish classes, but you cannot come with us to Mexico!’ Alex says, ‘But, I want to…’ Sarah hangs up the phone! Alex gets upset.
