Click here to have your say!Today's episode:“If you quit on the process, you are quitting on the result” ... “Never Give Up” ... “Only Quitters Quit”.... There are so many sayings with the same basic idea, that quitting is a bad thing. This idea is instilled in us from the youngest age and even as we grow up, considered common place. To me however, winners do not quit or give up because the task is difficult or because they’re lazy, they quit because they are mature enough or self aware enough to acknowledge that something is no longer worth their time or energy. So today I'm going to reframe quitting to "letting go" and offer you some perspective shifts so you can finally let go of whatever is no longer serving you, that maybe you've been clinging on to out of fear of judgement. Today I want to share some of the worst habits a lot of us have, some I still slip into, that are detrimental to our life balance. Some of these are going to sound basic, but if it’s so simple, why do we still keep doing them? The first half relate to our physical health and the second half relate to our mental health. Woven in these are some that also cross over with relationships and work life which is always always underpinned by our health.Ready to see how many you’re currently engaging in? BTS If you thrive in busyness but feel guilty for it, this one's for you
This is the literal dilemma I had that prompted me to start this podcast... that is, thriving in busyness and loving being busy, but also feeling guilty for it. So I sat down and reframed what being busy meant, how it made me feel and how to ensure I didn't get swept up in the "busyness" to a point where I neglected my wellness, my wellbeing. And today, I take you exactly through the process I undertook to arrive in a place where I feel confident defending my time & forgetting feeling guilty for how I'm spending it.At times we need to go deeper in our health, or our work, and we don't need to feel guilty or let others make us feel guilty for it. Negative feedback is something we’re all familiar with - whether it be in a professional capacity or via a personal relationship. BTS How to know if your circle is blocking your authentic self
Today I want to use this BTS to dive into the relationship category of balance, which is not one I’ve jumped into much on a solo episode before. When we have ties or relationships that are ‘toxic’ or have an element where something just feels off about them, they can really impinge on our balance, and critically, the way we show up as ourselves. So, in todays’ episode you’re going to hear my thoughts on how to choose relationships that are best for you, which ones to avoid to protect your balance and when you might be blocking yourself from the right people! To help you take action on these principles, you'll find some journal or meditation prompts below - use them however you like to work through the takeaways from today's ep - enjoy!JOURNAL PROMPTS:What value do I want from a relationship/friendship with ______? *Can also be done as a hypothetical if you’re looking for new friends or a new partner i.e. What value do I want from a friendship? What have some past relationships taught be about what I DO NOT want in a relationship/friendship? What values can I see I hold as a result of these? Are my current relationships/friendships allowing me to be my most authentic self?If there are some that are not, why am I holding on to them? Is there other value that can justify my time/energy being involved in this relationship? Can I identify any limiting beliefs I hold about what I deserve or am worthy of that could be influencing my decision to maintain these ‘toxic’ relationships? If yes, can I rewrite them to attract what I do deserve in my life?Share this ep with someone who will love it + if you're loving the content, take a moment and leave us a review/rating on Apple or Spotify!Until next time,Stay BalancedP.S. BTS Use negative thoughts + judgement to your advantage
A huge focus of today's ep is JUDGEMENT & negative thoughts about other people. How frustrating is it when you can feel yourself being hung up or stuck on a situation, person or comment!? The truth is, when we feel this way, we are responding to something that clashes with our own fundamental values or metric for success/"the right way" of doing things. SO this means that there's an opportunity each time we feel this way, to get introspective and learn something about ourselves!Tune in to find out how + link up with us on IG and say hey @thebalancetheory 👋Send this to someone & share the Balance love.Until next time,Stay BalancedSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/thebalancetheory. MM17 Why not choosing is a choice & the magic role of gratitude
This week I talk all about CHOICE. Choosing to change is a choice, but so is staying the same. There’s a power in accepting this. You may feel like you’re in a job just because you need it. Or you have friendships just because you’re in that group but you really wouldn’t otherwise.Choosing to stay in that job or spend time with that friendship group is a choice. And here’s why it matters to own this.If you're feeling helpless or stuck then this episode is just what you need to reframe and take back control of your life. MM16 Productivity guilt and how to deal with it
Today I wanted to go deep into something that has been personally frustrating me lately, especially being in lockdown, and something I have spoken to many of you about in my IG DMs. It’s around this idea that we feel guilt when we haven’t utilised our time to the max, or in other words been productive. In a usual routine, non lockdown, Do you ever get that feeling at the end of your day where you just haven’t been that productive? Maybe you haven’t crossed off what you wanted from your todo list, or you actually have done some stuff and feel completely deflated for not having done enough?Well I bet if you feel that sometimes, now during lockdown it’s probably hitting that nerve way harder in a different but somehow familiar way. One thing I’ve personally been struggling with is this idea that I have more time than ever right now, which should give me more time to slow down and relax, but I often feel the complete opposite? Join me as I explore why this is happening, productivity guilt, time anxiety and what you can do about it! Hi Balancers, Erika back here for another Monday Muse episode. Today is all about CHANGE! Change is an INEVITABLE part of your balance - so if you're someone who finds they usually resist change, this is an ep especially for you my friend! Join me as I share a very recent change that I've undergone that inspired me to consider the uncomfortableness we experience in change and how we can better equip ourselves to combat this in the future. I take you through a really useful framework that explains the steps of change and might help you better understand where you get stuck, what parts your find difficult or just act as a lovely reflection on how you've successfully navigated change in the past. As it is an inevitable part of life, carefully considering our relationship with it, brings us that one step closer to our idea of balance. I also chat about why instant gratification can ruin great change and my thoughts on persistence and execution.Share this with someone who will love it too!Until next time,Stay Balanced!PS if you want to check out an old Monday Muse that very closely aligns with this episode, head over to Monday Muse 3.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/thebalancetheory. MM12 Why you must revisit/edit/delete goals (+ it's our bday)! 🎉
🎉🎉 IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY! We're One Year old! To celebrate this month, we are bringing you double episodes & some amazing guided meditations 🎉🎉Today I wanted to go back full circle to where it all began - what does balance mean for you? It's important to revisit this to ensure where we are heading, still aligns with what we want. How many times do you set yourself a goal to then never re-visit, edit or even delete it? If your perspective or ideal of balance shifts, then your goals need to be re-jigged as well. We can't be too protective or fixed with something we wrote in the past. Join me as we reassess your balance right now, look at how you might want that to be different and as a result, how that impacts goals you may have set for yourself. SPEAKING OF goals, have you made any progress to yours yet? If not, it might be because (a) your idea of balance has shifted as so they need to be revisited or (b) you aren't setting your boundaries correctly.I'll finish today's pod talking about boundaries, what they're not and how to stick to them!If you love today's pod, share the birthday love and send it to a friend who will also love it! MM5 All of your bad relationships have one thing in common - you
So, if you're the common denominator amongst all of your bad relationships, you either need to change your mindset or get real and finally spring clean the relationship room (eek yes I know you probably don't want to hear it)! Sometimes this isn’t always as easy as it sounds, especially when it’s family or colleagues, so tune in for my thoughts on these tricky areas.I’ll also muse a little on the concept of control and whether this is causing the “negativity” you perceive. Let’s channel your thoughts and emotions around “bad” relationships … after all, they’re JUST as toxic as “bad” thoughts, feelings, foods & drink. Listen and find out where you stand!Disclaimer: I am not.
