A Position of Curiosity: Activist and Author Jenna Arnold
How many of us have robotically asked, “How are you?,” and given the zombie response, “Fine,” when we could all use that as a moment to gently and authentically check in with ourselves and one another? Jenna Arnold prefers to ask “how your heart is doing,” digging beneath the social dance to reveal a nugget of true feeling.
One of Oprah’s “Top 100 Awakened Leaders,” the core of Jenna’s work revolves around teaching white people how to relearn and re-categorize social niceties and biases in order to genuinely reflect on reflex responses, learning how to actively and authentically work from a place of honesty and support. Her book, Raising Our Hands, asks white women to work against ingrained complacency and do the work necessary to become better allies. Using curiosity as a starting point, reflection and understanding can then follow, paving the way for empathy and the ability to better show up for marginalized communities.

Prioritize Health, Prioritize Sustainability: Allison Evans & Kelly Love of Branch Basics
When a slew of mysterious, debilitating symptoms forced Allison Evans to take a leave of absence from college to focus on her health, her desperate search for a solution led to her aunt Marilee, who had turned to holistic methods to address her own health concerns years before. Taking her best friend, Kelly Love, with her, Allison spent the summer with Marilee, learning the value and effects of the things we put on, in and around our bodies.
What was meant to be a summer of recovery was in fact the beginning of a lifelong journey in learning and educating people about the risk of toxic products we interact with on a daily basis. Kelly and Allison often lament that they never meant to start a “soap company,” but that their mission to educate people about the exposure to toxic household products naturally led to a need to replace those items. Despite many ups and downs, Branch Basics is now growing 300% year over year. At its core, the company is all about education, extolling the prudent avoidance of toxic chemicals without instilling fear.

The Dynamic State of Balance: Wende Zomnir of Urban Decay
When Wende Zomnir was ready for a change from her corporate job, her initial thought was to drop it all to become a freelance writer and scuba instructor. However, as fate would have it, she soon met the woman who would become her future co-founder. Lamenting the variety of exciting colors in the mid-90’s makeup scene, the two bonded and Urban Decay cosmetics was born.
A fan of big hair and big makeup since her childhood in Texas, Wende always had a creative, adventurous streak. Pair that with a dash of grit and resourcefulness, and you get one tenacious entrepreneur. Wende famously made her first sale with Nordstrom within 24 hours of contacting their buyer. Growing up as the child of liberal parents in Seattle, Jessica Bennett may have spent her formative years steeped in a culture of feminism, but she didn’t feel the need to claim the title of feminist until she was faced with the tangible gender disparities that arose during her first job as a staff writer at Newsweek in New York. Spurred by inexcusable evidence of wage discrepancy and story stealing, Jessica banded with other women in the company, only to discover Newsweek’s 40+ year history of discrimination against women.

The Art & Importance of Patience: Bobbi Brown
It seems crazy to think that there was a time when entrepreneur, creatrix and makeup maven Bobbi Brown didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life, but like many young people it took some coaxing to decide on a career path. However, once she realized her passion lay in makeup artistry, there was no looking back.
Working as a freelance artist in NYC, Bobbi was unimpressed with the popular color palettes at the time, preferring to mix her own shades. Chriselle Lim was an influencer before influencing was a career to aspire to. Having fun with her own YouTube channel in college, she was one of the pioneers who recognized that content could mean more than ironic memes and charming cat videos. Never content focusing in just one area, Chriselle has gone through a digital metamorphosis through her use of various social media platforms over the years. She has also expanded her entrepreneurial side in the co-founding of bümo, a multidimensional service aimed at providing quality educational classes to children while simultaneously equipping parents with both remote support and a place to work and receive childcare in their new co-working space debuting this spring in Los Angeles. It sounds like a lot, and it is, but Chriselle has learned that the key to success is knowing what you’re good at, diving deep, and finding a great business partner who complements your talents!

From Set Back to Set Up!: Jamie Kern Lima of IT Cosmetics
Even as a child, Jamie Kern Lima loved listening to people share their stories. As a kid she would watch Oprah in the family living room, soaking up both the sincerity and contagious enthusiasm that was the hallmark of such an iconic show. It came as a surprise, then, when Jamie’s dream job as a news anchor didn’t turn out to be as fulfilling as she’d hoped.
A sudden, tenacious battle with rosacea led Jamie to explore a countless number of makeup and skincare options, all to no avail. Inspiration struck when she decided to create her own line of cosmetics despite her lack of experience in the field. Following her intuition to leave the newsroom behind, Jamie experienced years of rejection as one investor after another turned her down. Sticking to her guns proved her point, however, as IT Cosmetics slowly grew, only to be acquired by L’Oreal in 2016 in their largest company purchase to date. Jamie is now the first female CEO in L’Oreal’s 100 years as a brand, and she’s passing her invaluable advice along in her new book, Believe It. In doing so, Jamie hopes to instill in readers hope and strength, to trust their intuition and inspire them to become the person they were born to be.

Be Your Biggest Advocate: Camilla Marcus of west~bourne
Watching any number of popular cooking shows on TV, it’s fairly common to see chefs in a rage, spewing one sort of emotional outburst or another. That sort of stress might be enough to send most folks running, but not Camilla Marcus. Recalling her own encounters with angry kitchen staff as she worked her way up in the restaurant industry, she could do nothing but laugh if a chef berated her for something as innocuous as a carrot.
This sort of fresh perspective was what helped her to develop west~bourne, a restaurant and market place where staff members rotate through all roles in order to learn and get a holistic perspective of how the business is run. Though the restaurant is temporarily shuttered during the pandemic, the wellbeing of her coworkers is ever at the forefront of Camilla’s mind. In that spirit she has partnered with Robin Hood to found ROAR, providing financial aid for NYC restaurant workers to provide some much needed relief in these tough times.

No Brand Does it the Same Way: Celebrity Manicurist and Founder Deborah Lippmann
Anyone interested in beauty products has come across the name Deborah Lippmann before, but few folks know the backstory. She’s made such a name for herself as a celebrity manicurist, and launched her own line of nail polish at the encouragement of such wonders as Mariah Carey, that it’s nearly impossible to think that her start in the beauty world was simply a way to make ends meet while she worked on her passion for music.
A move to New York brought everything together, however, as Deborah found herself working among the likes of Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier, and working with celebrity clientele soon after. It was her knack for color customization, however, that made her a standout among clients and beauty editors. Deborah’s eye for color enabled her to create shades that couldn’t be found anywhere else. Although it hadn’t been her original goal, Deborah let her clients lead the way, and their insistence that she create her own line officially took her from manicurist to entrepreneur. Ever responsive to her customers needs, Deborah Lippmann products are now celebrated as some of the best in the business. These days, everyone from Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift is clamoring to collaborate on custom shades for the line!

The Accidental Entrepreneur: Kara Goldin of hint, inc.
Kara Goldin was never a fan of water. Preferring the sweet buzz of diet sodas, it wasn’t until several health concerns stacked up after having four children that Kara decided to do an experiment. She traded soda for water for several weeks and was astounded to see her skin clear and her weight drop. However, she still wasn’t a fan of the way water tasted.
Kara had been adding fresh fruit, herbs and cucumbers to her water to make it more palatable. At the time, there weren’t many flavored waters on the market that were actually water; most products marketed as such were actually a sugary mix of artificial ingredients. It was then that inspiration struck: Kara started hint with just three flavors marketed at her local Whole Foods. After working for a huge ecommerce conglomerate, she was hesitant to even think of her venture as an actual company. 15 years later, however, record sales have proven success. hint is being received loud and clear!

In the early days of Rebecca’s career, she received a phone call from a friend, asking if she would be interested in getting free facials in exchange for social media coverage of a new spa. Rebecca didn’t know it at the time, but the person about to become her favorite new aesthetician was the one and only Joanna Vargas, also just starting out with her own business, making a go of it in New York.
The incredible success Joanna has had belies the fact that not only did she and her husband fund a new business with their own credit cards, but she was also met with more negativity than support when she declared she wanted to start her own spa. Healthy From the Start: Catherine McCord Helps Kids and Parents Make Mealtime a Memorable, Educational Experience
Most new (and experienced!) parents are familiar with the scenario: you either don’t know what’s appropriate to feed your children, or their distinct preferences – dare we say pickiness! – make it difficult to sit down to the table without preparing a separate meal for each member of the family.
Catherine McCord certainly found herself in that situation. While she’d spent her career creating fantastic meals for both restaurants and catering companies from coast to coast, she was stumped at how to best feed her first child. Out of that quandary Weelicious was born. What started as a blog aimed at helping parents teach kids how to eat well has now developed into several recipe books, and naturally the launch of a family-focused meal subscription box, One Potato. Not only is Catherine passionate about how to get kids involved in making healthy choices, but her focus on creating wholesome, organic food on a budget makes it more accessible as well.

Martha Miller: Getting Comfortable Working in Ambiguity
Martha Miller never really thought she’d be working for the federal government. A self-proclaimed “over achiever,” Martha studied cognitive neuroscience and obtained a law degree from Georgetown before entering the field of law. She’s even rumored to have used the Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B. bag at her first job!
In 2016 Martha was appointed the Director of the Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation, a branch of the SEC. Simultaneously creating and directing a brand new government office catapulted Martha out of her comfort zone, forcing her to find “comfort in ambiguity” and recognize that it’s when we’re pushed beyond our limits that real impact can occur. Her work, in turn, helps small business owners move out of their comfort zones in order to reap the rewards that come with dreaming big.

Sharing is Caring: Squad Goals with Isa Watson
Published chemistry whiz, JP Morgan financial expert, and classically trained pianist Isa Watson had a perfectly-honed plan to take her straight to the senate. Accustomed to excelling in almost any field she attempted, it was no surprise that Isa achieved many outstanding goals all at a young age. However, when Isa was in her late 20’s, her father’s sudden death turned everything upside down. What had always seemed like the perfect plan for the perfect life began to feel hollow.

Team Work, Team Success: Sarah Shadonix of Scout & Cellar
When Sarah Shadonix decided to leave the world of law and pursue her passion for wine, she didn’t think it would come with daily headaches. In studying to become a sommelier, the nightly tastings were leaving her regretful the next morning, even when she limited her consumption. Curious to figure out why, Sarah commenced an exhaustive research of the wine making process from start to finish.
What she found was that the vast majority of wines are cultivated and treated with a staggering number of pesticides, herbicides and insecticides, in addition to a number of other chemicals and added sugars. Unfortunately none of this is required to be disclosed to consumers.
Hopeful to continue her career in wine, Sarah made it her mission to create a company founded in “clean crafted” products. Scout & Cellar is now approaching its third birthday. Founded on such tenets as authenticity, transparency and teamwork, the company has gone from one employee and $2 million in first year sales to a company of 100, with sales reaching $60 million last year. Now that’s a reason to celebrate!

Taking Back Birth: Latham Thomas, Founder of Mama Glow
As we see people flock to the streets in support of ending violence against black communities, it’s beneficial to the cause to reflect upon other forms of racial inequity that exist in the U.S. in less overt ways. One such example is the disparity in maternal mortality rates between white mothers and women of color. Nationwide, black mothers are 4-5 times more likely to die in childbirth, with those statistics rising to 8-12 times in places like New York City. COVID-19 has only made the situation worse.
Latham Thomas, doula, author and founder of Mama Glow, has made it her mission to approach the entire reproductive continuum, including abortion, loss, birth, breastfeeding and even menopause, with information and support. Through Mama Glow, she works to create education and access to resources in order to support women at every stage in an ongoing commitment to advocacy through birth equity.

Décor Disruptor: Natalie Ebel of Backdrop
You may not think of painting your walls as a “therapeutic process,” but Natalie Ebel sure does. In fact, it’s her go to in times of stress. The only child of a painter by profession, Natalie grew up helping her dad paint, transposing those skills to an art degree in college.

Most women find themselves, at one time or another, looking for the perfect accessory to compliment that special outfit, or maybe they’re simply strolling through a store with a friend and want to treat themselves to something sparkly. Finding the right look at the right price point is often harder than it needs to be. It was in this sort of conundrum that Daniella Yacobovsky found herself, wanting a little flash but not wanting to break the bank.
She and her friend, Amy Jain, were wandering around a store discussing this very subject. They became friends while working in finance, then found themselves attending Harvard Business School in the same class. A casual conversation about jewelry soon became a business plan, and BaubleBar was born. Now in its ninth year and carried in major department stores throughout the country, BaubleBar is proof that inspiration can strike anywhere, anytime!

It Runs in the Family: Ariane Daguin of D’Artagnan Foods
When Ariane Daguin left the region of Gascony, France, in the early 1980’s to study journalism at Columbia, it was with the intention of leaving the culinary world behind. While her father is a well-known chef, Ariane had her sights set on journalism school. When a summer job in a New York charcuterie shop didn’t give her the money she needed to pay for the following year’s tuition, she stayed on, even going so far as to position the charcuterie as the exclusive purveyor of the first quality foie gras being produced at the time. The owners of the charcuterie were ultimately uninterested in the contract, but Ariane saw this as an opportunity not to be missed.
Wrangling a friend and combining their savings, the two rented a warehouse in Jersey City with the intention of distributing humanely raised meat products to the restaurants of New York. D’Artagnan Foodswas born. While the first years were not easy, interest in quality meat production only grew from there. One of the first proponents of humane, eco-conscious farming, it’s only fitting that Ariane now has her sights set on building a farm of her own!

Everyday Adventures: Ruzwana Bashir of Peek
Taking a look at Ruzwana Bashir’s resume, you might think she was born into a lifestyle of unlimited opportunity. Educated at Oxford and Harvard Business School, she had an education on par with that of the wealthiest families in the world. However, everything that Ruzwana has accomplished is due to her own steely work ethic.
When an investor passed on the chance to fund Peek, Ruzwana’s travel experience company which recently raised $40 million in capital, he told her it was because he didn’t know if she had “the grit” to make it in entrepreneurship. We often take for granted this most precious part of ourselves that keeps us soft, safe, and literally holds us together! It’s also easy to forget that the skin is porous, and therefore absorbs many things from the environment, whether we realize it or not.
Divya Gugnani, co-founder of Wander Beauty, had a moment of revelation rushing to work one day. She wanted beauty and skincare products that were safe for her skin, effective, and also able to multitask. The idea for Wander Beauty was formed to directly address the pain points of women who have to balance work, travel and home life, and to help them look and feel good doing it.

Jenny Fleiss has been an entrepreneur since she was a child. Sometimes you go home in the same tired underwire, a box of wheat thins and reruns of Vanderpump Rules as your consolation prize.
Abby Morgan wanted to create a product that made bra shopping a success every time. Along with her three co-founders she created Cuup, a bra company that prides itself not only on its range of sizes (30A-38H), but also on the value of community, creating a safe space for women to share their experiences and work for change in the world. Cuup works to support women’s bodies, but more importantly, they work to support the femme experience.

What’s the coolest maternity brand? Does that seem like a strange question? It shouldn’t. In a global society that’s more fashion conscious than ever, it doesn’t make sense that maternity designs are so resistant to helping women feel relevant during one of the biggest times in their lives.
As a pregnant woman with time on her hands and money to spend, Ariane Goldman experienced this firsthand. She couldn’t find anything she liked enough to buy. Ariane had encountered a similar problem several years earlier when she couldn’t find any suitable options for bridesmaid dresses, so she decided to create her own. A creative at heart and now a mother-to-be, Ariane paved her own way, creating fantastic maternity designs and launching Hatch. While business might have been slow at first, a New York Times article and a sighting on a certain Meghan Markle have secured Hatch as the maternity line for fashionable moms everywhere.

Chasing Match Point: Maria Sharapova Talks Tennis Courts and Candy
Maria Sharapova was born in Siberia, raised in Sochi and then, at age 6, moved to the U.S., and she hasn’t really stopped moving since. The tennis sensation who won Wimbledon at 17 and 5 Grand Slam titles in the years since has honed a level of focus so intense that at times she seems more like a Buddhist monk than a star athlete. This stoic concentration has been cultivated intentionally; Maria saw in other tennis players that letting fear or, conversely, pride, lead them on the court more often ended in disappointment rather than a win. She resolved to always look towards the next point, and act as graciously in victory as in losses.
It’s a state of being that has bled into other areas of her life, including her work as an entrepreneur. Maria launched Sugarpova, the candy company of which is still 100% owner, in her early 20’s. Though it may seem incongruous for an athlete to peddle treats, as Maria puts it, it’s important to balance hard work something sweet once in a while.

Pay Yourself From Day 1: Funding Female-Owned Startups with Karen Cahn
As employee #213, Karen Cahn joined Google relatively early in the game. Back in the day she was an account executive covering ad sales in New England and the entirety of Canada. A seemingly monumental task, Karen was up for the challenge, building keyword lists from scratch to help develop the system that we now have to thank for targeted advertising.
After Google acquired YouTube and Karen was tasked with creating lucrative deals for the largely male user platform, she began to wonder, “How can I fund these deals for women?” While her ideas were not received well by her co-workers, and even her first company built upon these goals struggled, Karen was undeterred. Her passion for female leadership and equality led her to start again, this time founding iFundWomen, a startup funding platform for female entrepreneurs. Talking Super Woman and Self-Care with Nicole Lapin
Nicole Lapin may be a financial expert, but that doesn’t mean she was born knowing an index from an S&P fund. Growing up in challenging conditions, not the least of which was being a first generation American, Nicole always knew she wanted to be in news. She took it upon herself to get a job in the industry and slowly started working her way up through agencies in smaller cities around the U.S.
A true “fake it ‘til you make it” story, Nicole jumped headfirst into the opportunity to report on finances even though she had little experience in the field. Glitter and Color: The Wild World of Tish and Snooky

Do the Hustle: Laura Brown on Fashion and Hard Work
Laura Brown came up in the 80’s – a period devoid of the internet and Instagram, where fashion inspiration came almost exclusively in the form of magazines. To make things worse for a young fashionista living in Australia, as Laura did, those magazines arrived three months after their release date. Laura was hungry for the glitz and the glam, and made it her goal to one day work and live in the heart of the fashion world.
After working a few stints at magazines in Australia and London, Laura arrived in New York. Finding herself at a lavish Marc Jacobs show within days of moving there, Laura finally felt the pulse of the life she had so long been yearning for.
After working her way up to Features at Harper’s, she was then hired as Editor in Chief at InStyle. In the three years since, Laura has revitalized the magazine, injecting new life into it, forever showcasing her love of fashion, layouts, and a good dose of creative, hard work.

Stop and Smell the Revenue: Talking Flowers and Fundraising With Christina Stembel
We’ll address the big question first: Christina Stembel of Farmgirl Flowers really did grow up on a farm. Growing up in northern Indiana, Christina was expected to fulfill her womanly duties as a wife and mother while her brother went off to college. But Christina had other plans. She hightailed it to New York within two weeks of graduating from high school and started working.
Christina did not grow up with a lot of people cheering her on and wishing her success, and that made her strive for it all the more. Over some years and many different ideas, she saw that the floral industry held an opportunity to do exactly what she desired in starting her own business: disrupt the status quo, create scalability, and do good in the world.
While not without its challenges (who knew the floral industry could be so cutthroat?), Christina has scaled from 56K her first year of business to $31 million 8 years later. As Christina fondly says, success is the best revenge.

Dee Poku remembers what it was like when she worked for big movie studios. No need to make her own travel plans, or worry about her computer getting fixed. All that was taken care of; just walk out the door and a car will be there to take you where you need to go.
All that changed when she decided strike out on her own, and it took some adjusting. Dee could no longer let the weight of her employer’s name bolster her confidence. It took time to be able stand tall and tell people about an enterprise they had never heard of. Her self-assuredness grew, however, and Dee saw how people responded to her differently simply by the way she delivered her message.

99 Problems But A Bed Ain’t One: Problem-Solving With Ariel Kaye
Bed. We spend a third of our lives there, and yet oftentimes, our beds, or what we put on them, become somewhat of an afterthought.
Ariel Kaye sought to change that. After spending some years in advertising, Ariel came to a point where she was looking for more excitement, and more of a direct way to connect with people. She had always been passionate about interior design and home goods, going so far as to maintain her own blog on the subject in her free time. As she was pondering a change in career, it dawned on her that there were little to no direct to consumer options for bedding. That is when the idea for Parachute Home was born.
Now in its fifth year and about to open the fifth brick and mortar (!), Ariel fondly recalls the early days when she would drive around in her car, delivering orders directly to buyers in Los Angeles.

Jill Kargman: Gucci Kneepads & Not Giving a F***
Jill Kargman is not your neighborhood soccer mom and she doesn’t play one on TV, either. Her dark sense of humor and love of all things goth might put her out of place at most “mommy and me” gatherings, but this is especially true on the swanky Upper East Side where she originates.
However, Jill isn’t one to waste her time worrying about what other people think. Instead, she worked her alchemical writing magic and spun this into comedy gold, using her position in society as inspiration for the screenplay – turned book – turned TV show, Odd Mom Out. She also plays the feature role in the show, utilizing the talent honed from acting in numerous plays during her time at Yale.
Jill’s creative journey has taken her from arduous internships to writing rooms to the confines of her home office and back again. Jill now plans to return to the big screen as she sets out to script a film inspired in earnestness by the life of her teenagers.

Amy Shecter doesn’t think women let themselves fail enough, and she thinks it’s high time we become less risk-averse. Statistically, she says, women will only take risks when they feel 95-100% confident in a favorable outcome, versus the average man, who will take the same risk at only 50% confidence. Rachel Blumenthal’s Not Sweating the Small Stuff
The fashion world was the last place Rachel Blumenthal envisioned her career. Growing up on Cape Cod surrounded by adults with “practical” careers, it never occurred to her that a job in fashion might be a viable option. However, when a series of internships and a stroke of luck landed her a job at Yves Saint Laurent, Rachel found herself in the midst of it all.
Despite the fact that she was immersed in a creative environment, the job itself was lacking in that aspect, and on a whim Rachel made herself a ring for fun. That ring was noticed by friends who worked at a magazine, and with just one product she was asked to be featured as a designer in the publication. Overnight she was forced to create a legitimate company, find a buyer and create a website or risk losing the feature. This type of resourcefulness laid the groundwork for what became an incredibly successful jewelry line, Rachel Leigh, and what led to multiple ventures beyond that, most recently, Rockets of Awesome, a subscription-based clothing line for children.
Here Rachel discusses her creativity, her work ethic, and how passionate drive is the key to a successful business.

Amanda de Cadenet: Girlgazing Her Way Through the Glass Ceiling
Amanda de Cadenet is a force to be reckoned with. She’s had more noteworthy careers than most people achieve in a lifetime. Amanda began her career in television at the age of 15. Not for the stardom or the glamour, but out of pure necessity to support herself. The show, in which she and other presenters interviewed bands such as Nirvana and Oasis, proved to be a hit. While Amanda had found success, by the age of 22 she was ready for a change, and moved to L.A. to work as a photographer.
After experiencing firsthand the frustration of being passed over time and again for photography jobs which she was qualified for, Amanda began to produce and interview women on her own show, “The Conversation.” “I’m always interested in peoples’ really low moments, because I want to know how they came back from it. Because we’re all going to have them, no one’s exempt. My question has always been, ‘well how did you get up off the ground one more time? How did you make it through that?’ Because that’s ultimately what we have to share on the other side of it.”
Continuing on her quest to promote intersectional gender equality Amanda has also spearheaded the #girlgaze movement, encouraging female-identifying individuals to share their unique point of view under that hashtag in the hopes of illuminating the multifaceted jewel that is the female point of view.

Nicole Gibbons Talks Passion, Paint, and Perseverance
Nicole Gibbons is a disruptor of the paint industry. In a field dominated by absurdly masculine branding, Nicole is the first person to create a direct-to-consumer paint company that is not only convenient but also disarmingly beautiful. After starting her career in PR, Nicole realized the parts of her job she was most excited about involved design. After planning and saving up for a number of years, she made the leap to start her own interior design firm.
While her firm was wildly successful, after a while Nicole was hungry for something different. Taking note of other brands disrupting the supply chain and working with direct-to-consumer models, Nicole wondered how she could apply that to design. “I felt like I really wanted to do something innovative; I really wanted to solve a big problem that hadn’t been tackled before. So I kept thinking about what I could do in the home space that made sense, and paint was the perfect light bulb moment that I had.”
Inspired by her parents, both entrepreneurs, Nicole always knew she wanted to be in business for herself. With a mix of talent, inspiration, hard work, and patience, Nicole proves that if you can dream it, you can build it.

Amy Levin Says You Can’t Plan For It All
Confidence is not something that Amy Levin is lacking. “No,” Amy says with a laugh, in response to whether or not her age or gender was ever an issue in the success of her business.
Starting her company, College Fashionista, while actually still in college, Amy faced a unique set of challenges. Things such as managing work/school/life balance, and meetings with investors and business owners much older than she, would have been enough to intimidate any fresh-faced, young entrepreneur. But it never threw Amy off her game. Owing much of her unshakeable disposition to her parents, Amy never doubted that she has what it takes to take College Fashionista wherever she wanted it to go.
While she always had faith in the success of her company, Amy, like any entrepreneur, did face challenges along the way. While she had a strong business and financial background, tech was not her strong suit, and she saw to it early on that she had a diverse board of advisors in place for when, inevitably, questions would arise that required a different perspective.
