About
Launched by Oliver through a want to reveal the pains, barriers and less glamorous side to founding a business, Success Is In The Mind has since gone on to win industry awards with the Campaign Publishing (https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/campaign-publishing-awards-2021-podcast-year-%E2%80%93-business-media/1715626) judges saying "This podcast has identified a niche in the market and sets out to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs honestly and ethically" In this podcast, Oliver goes on a journey to tell the candid truth around start-up and scale-up life and just how important focus, mental agility, mental health and strength is in this idealistic and largely fake world of social media and unspoken truths. Told through relatable stories of others, Oliver sits down with founders, entrepreneurs and notable individuals from across the business world and globe who have, like him, overcome barriers both mentally and physically to become the people behind the brand, organisation or self they are today! With 1 GCSE Oliver also has Dyslexia, Dyspraxia as well as mild ADHD yet he’s grown a business of nearly 40 staff. The focus on neurology and persistence is clear throughout Focusing on the first few years of business, and the decisions that went well as well as those that didn’t, this is absolutely not a podcast about the money or the perceived ‘success’ seen on social by so many, instead this is a reality check. Stating a business is damn hard!

Earlier in 2021 the co-founders of Thursday (the dating app) boldly announced to LinkedIn that over the next 12 months they would take their start-up from a valuation of £0 to some £50m; brave to say the least. Where do you even start?  What started as a dating app called HoneyPot, founded in an Officers’ Mess whilst Matt was serving in the British Army, is now undergoing a Series A fund for £20m (Dec 2021) - the two schoolmates (co-founders) George and Matthew have seen over 250,000 downloads in just 9 months. This Thursday (a unique day for us to release a podcast) Oliver Bruce chats to co-founder Matt McNeill Love about the ‘pointless pints’ behind the company’s infamous guerrilla marketing techniques and how they built a brand on just £500! Why did they rename their app ‘Thursday’ and why focus solely on 1 day of the week and not the remaining 6?  It’s not all cardboard signs, pink balloons and reactive marketing in London, in fact most of what the team at Thursday do is incredibly proactive. From ensuring people get home safe on the night tube via push notifications to hosting parties for singletons in venues throughout the city, Thursday are 100% on the ‘ones to watch’ list…!
