Somebody That I Used To Know

Somebody That I Used To KnowGotye Now and then I think of when we were togetherLike when you said you felt so happy you could dieTold myself that you were right for meBut felt so lonely in your companyBut that was love and it's an ache I still remember You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadnessLike resignation to the end Always the endSo when we found that we could not make senseWell you said that we would still be friendsBut I'll admit that I was glad that it was over But you didn't have to cut me offMake out like it never happened And that we were nothingAnd I don't even need your loveBut you treat me like a stranger And that feels so roughYou didn't have to stoop so lowHave your friends collect your records And then change your numberI guess that I don't need that thoughNow you're just somebody that I used to know Now you're just somebody that I used to know Now you're just somebody that I used to know Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me overBut had me believing it was always something that I'd doneAnd I don't wanna live that wayReading into every word you sayYou said that you could let it goAnd I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know... But you didn't have to cut me offMake out like it never happened And that we were nothingAnd I don't even need your loveBut you treat me like a stranger And that feels so roughYou didn't have to stoop so lowHave your friends collect your records And then change your numberI guess that I don't need that thoughNow you're just somebody that I used to know Somebody...I used to knowSomebody...That I used to knowSomebody...I used to knowSomebody...That I used to know I used to knowThat I used to knowI used to know Somebody...

Rolling in the Deep - Adele

There's a fire starting in my heartReaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the darkFinally I can see you crystal clearGo ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bareSee how I leave with every piece of youDon't underestimate the things that I will doThere's a fire starting in my heartReaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the darkThe scars of your love remind me of usThey keep me thinking that we almost had it allThe scars of your love they leave me breathlessI can't help feelingWe could have had it allRolling in the DeepYour had my heart Inside of your handAnd you played it To the beat (Rolling in the deep)Baby I have no story to be toldBut I've heard one of you and I'm gonna make your head burnThink of me in the depths of your despairMaking a home down there as mine sure won't be sharedThe scars of your love remind you of usThey keep me thinking that we almost had it allThe scars of your love they leave me breathlessI can't help feelingWe could have had it allRolling in the DeepYour had my heart inside of your handAnd you played itTo the beatCould have had it allRolling in the deepYou had my heart inside of your handBut you played it with your beatingThrow yourself through ever open doorCount your blessings to find what look forTurn my sorrow into treasured goldAnd pay me back in kind- You reap just what you sowWe could have had it allWe could have had it all yeahIt allIt allWe could have had it allRolling in the deepYou had my heart inside of your handAnd you played it to the beatWe could have had it allRolling in the deepYou had my heartInside of your handBut you played itYou played itYou played itYou played it to the beat

If I Rest,I Rust

If I Rest,I Rust The significant inscription found on an old key---“If I rest, I rust”---would be an excellent motto for those who are afflicted with the slightest bit of idleness. Even the most industrious person might adopt it with advantage to serve as a reminder that, if one allows his faculties to rest, like the iron in the unused key, they will soon show signs of rust and, ultimately, cannot do the work required of them. Those who would attain the heights reached and kept by great men must keep their faculties polished by constant use, so that they may unlock the doors of knowledge, the gate that guard the entrances to the professions, to science, art, literature, agriculture---every department of human endeavor.Industry keeps bright the key that opens the treasury of achievement. If Hugh Miller, after toiling all day in a quarry, had devoted his evenings to rest and recreation, he would never have become a famous geologist. The celebrated mathematician, Edmund Stone, would never have published a mathematical dictionary, never have found the key to science of mathematics, if he had given his spare moments to idleness, had the little Scotch lad, Ferguson, allowed the busy brain to go to sleep while he tended sheep on the hillside instead of calculating the position of the stars by a string of beads, he would never have become a famous astronomer.Labor vanquishes all---not inconstant, spasmodic, or ill-directed labor; but faithful, unremitting, daily effort toward a well-directed purpose. Just as truly as eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, so is eternal industry the price of noble and enduring success.

Companionship of Books

Companionship of Books以书为伴(节选)A man may usually be known by the books he reads as well as by the company he keeps; for there is a companionship of books as well as of men; and one should always live in the best company, whether it be of books or of men. A good book may be among the best of friends. It is the same today that it always was, and it will never change. It is the most patient and cheerful of companions. It does not turn its back upon us in times of adversity or distress. It always receives us with the same kindness; amusing and instructing us in youth, and comforting and consoling us in age.Men often discover their affinity to each other by the mutual love they have for a book just as two persons sometimes discover a friend by the admiration which both entertain for a third. There is an old proverb, ‘Love me, love my dog.” But there is more wisdom in this:” Love me, love my book.” The book is a truer and higher bond of union. Men can think, feel, and sympathize with each other through their favorite author. They live in him together, and he in them.A good book is often the best urn of a life enshrining the best that life could think out; for the world of a man’s life is, for the most part, but the world of his thoughts. Thus the best books are treasuries of good words, the golden thoughts, which, remembered and cherished, become our constant companions and comforters. Books possess an essence of immortality. They are by far the most lasting products of human effort. Temples and statues decay, but books survive. Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh today as when they first passed through their author’s minds, ages ago. What was then said and thought still speaks to us as vividly as ever from the printed page. The only effect of time have been to sift out the bad products; for nothing in literature can long survive e but what is really good.Books introduce us into the best society; they bring us into the presence of the greatest minds that have ever lived. We hear what they said and did; we see the as if they were really alive; we sympathize with them, enjoy with them, grieve with them; their experience becomes ours, and we feel as if we were in a measure actors with them in the scenes which they describe. The great and good do not die, even in this world. Embalmed in books, their spirits walk abroad. The book is a living voice. It is an intellect to which on still listens.

Three Days to See

Three Days to SeeAll of us have read thrilling stories in which the hero had only a limited and specified time to live. Sometimes it was as long as a year, sometimes as short as 24 hours. But always we were interested in discovering just how the doomed hero chose to spend his last days or his last hours. I speak, of course, of free men who have a choice, not condemned criminals whose sphere of activities is strictly delimited. Such stories set us thinking, wondering what we should do under similar circumstances. What events, what experiences, what associations should we crowd into those last hours as mortal beings? What happiness should we find in reviewing the past, what regrets? Sometimes I have thought it would be an excellent rule to live each day as if we should die tomorrow. Such an attitude would emphasize sharply the values of life. We should live each day with a gentleness, a vigor, and a keenness of appreciation which are often lost when time stretches before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to come. There are those, of course, who would adopt the Epicurean motto of “Eat, drink, and be merry,“ but most people would be chastened by the certainty of impending death. In stories the doomed hero is usually saved at the last minute by some stroke of fortune, but almost always his sense of values is changed. he becomes more appreciative of the meaning of life and its permanent spiritual values. It has often been noted that those who live, or have lived, in the shadow of death bring a mellow sweetness to everything they do. Most of us, however, take life for granted. We know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future. When we are in buoyant health, death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it. The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we go about our petty tasks, hardly aware of our listless attitude toward life. The same lethargy, I am afraid, characterizes the use of all our faculties and senses. Only the deaf appreciate hearing, only the blind realize the manifold blessings that lie in sight. Particularly does this observation apply to those who have lost sight and hearing in adult life. But those who have never suffered impairment of sight or hearing seldom make the fullest use of these blessed faculties. Their eyes and ears take in all sights and sounds hazily, without concentration and with little appreciation. It is the same old story of not being grateful for what we have until we lose it, of not being conscious of health until we are ill. I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life. Darkness would make him more appreciative of sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound.

Youth

YouthYouth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite for what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart, there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, courage and power from man and from the infinite, so long as you are young. When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you've grown old, even at 20; but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there's hope you may die young at 80.

Don't just stand there

Don't just stand there/改善你的生活 Michael Lee Many people think that they have to accept whatever life throws at them. They'll say, “This is my fate, my destiny. I cannot change it.” Of course not! You don't have to suffer needlessly. Your destiny depends on you, not on any other external factors. I know someone who says she just accepts what life gives her because she has done everything she can to improve it. Guess what her lifestyle is? She wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes back home, relaxes, chats with people, watches TV, then goes to sleep. Next day, the same routine cycle ensues. Huh?!? Is this what she calls “doing her best?” She believes she has tried her best and just accepts it in her heart that this is the life that God has intended for her to live; that her luck can only change if God wills it. Of course God wants us to be happy and live our life to the fullest, but we have to do our share of exerting the effort to live the life of our dreams. You reap what you sow. You just don't sit around and wait for a million dollars to fall from the sky. You have to get off the couch, get your eyes off the TV screen, get your hands off the phone (unless it contributes to your success), and get your mind and body to work! If your life is not meant the way you want it to be, don't just say: “Our time will come.” or “Things will get better someday.” Don't expect your luck to change, unless you do something about it. If something goes wrong, don't just regard it as a temporary setback; but use it as feedback. Learn your lesson, make the most of the situation, and do something to resolve the problem. It’s not enough to think positive; you also have to act positive. If someone's life is in trouble, do you just hope and pray that things will turn out fine? Of course not! You got to do anything you can to save the person. So it is with your own life. It is not enough to hope for the best, but you have to DO your best. In other words, don't just stand (or sit) there, do something to improve your life!

You're a Beautiful Person

You’re a Beautiful Person I wish that I could tell every person that I meet that he or she is a beautiful person--and have them believe it. I wish I could look them in the eyes and tell them of their beauty and have them accept the words for what they truly are--the truth, plain and simple. You and I both know that most people will deny their beauty, expressing what they feel is modesty or humility. It’s easier for us to be told that we’re talented or intelligent--our own beauty is something that we don’t want to face. You could help me to convince people of their innate beauty. You could agree with me in an effort to reinforce the message. You could give a few specifics to illustrate just what we’re talking about when we say the person is beautiful. You could reassure the person that I’m not saying it to flatter or to try to win the person over or get something out of the person, but just trying to express in words the beauty I see when I look into that person’s eyes and see the human being there, the person who gets happy and hurt and who laughs and who cries. You can help me by reminding the person that beauty isn’t about comparing ourselves with others, but about the part of us that shines when we love others and love life. It’s not all physical and it’s not all spiritual, but a tender combination of all that we are.

A Morning Wish

A Morning Wish The sun has just risen in the morning of another day. What can I wish this day may bring me? Nothing that shall make the world or others poorer, nothing at the expense of other men, but just those few things which in their coming do not stop me but touch me rather, as they pass and gather strength. I wish that this day could bring me a few friends, who understand me, and yet remain my friends; I also wish that this day could bring me a job to do which has real value. I wish that this day could bring me a mind unafraid to travel, and I wish that this day could bring me an understanding heart. I wish that this day could bring me a sight of the eternal hills, and the blue sea stretching to the horizon, and of something beautiful which the hands of men have made. I wish that this day could bring me a sense of humor, and the power to laugh, a little leisure with nothing to do. And I desire for a few moments of quiet, silent meditation* in the morning of this day. I also wish that this day could bring me the patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to know them when they come, and the wit not to change this morning wish of mine.

Cabin Pressure S1 E01

Cabin Pressure Series 1, Episode 1 – Abu Dhabi (Bing-Bong) DOUGLAS: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, First Officer Douglas Richardson here. Just to let you know, we're making our final approach now into what I am fairly sure is Fitton airfield..unless it's a farm..or just possibly the A45. It's not the sea, because that's blue. I should perhaps explain that Captain Crieff and I have a sportsman-like little bet on today about who can fly the best after drinking a litre of Vodka through a straw. The Captain went first. You may have noticed the takeoff run was a little bumpy, particularly over the golf course. Now it's me to land, just as soon as I decide, which of these two runaways to aim for. And I'm happy to tell you that I feel lucky. So on behalf of all your crew today, may I just say, geronimo! Opening Credit (by BC) - This week, Abu Dhabi! MARTIN: Blessed. DOUGLAS: Ah, yes, of course. May! MARTIN: Hmm, yup. Cant! ARTHUR: Here we are, gents. Coffee with nothing in it. Tea with everything in it. Great cabin address, Douglas? I love cargo flights. DOUGLAS: Thank you, Arthur. MARTIN: Ooh, Eno? DOUGLAS: Ooh, Eno? MARTIN: Ooh, Eno. DOUGLAS: Ah..yes! Sewell. ARTHUR: Oh, what are we playing? MARTIN: Brians of Britain. ARTHUR: Then there must be loads of them! Uh, um.. DOUGLAS: Well, not to worry, as they come to you. ARTHUR: Oh, who's that guy? Hm, oh, gray haired, did that game show, "Can I have a P please, Bob?" Uh..what's his name? DOUGLAS: Your hope being that it was Brian..? ARTHUR: Yeah, Brian..Uh..Brian.. MARTIN: Bob Holness. It was Bob Holness. ARTHUR: That's it! Oh..Well, does he count anyway? DOUGLAS: Does Bob Holness count in our list of people called Brian. What the hell, yes, he does. Well done! (over the intercom) Tower: Golf-Tango-India, expect twenty min delay due runway inspection. Enter the hold at arden. Maintain seven thousand feet. MARTIN: Golf-Tango-India, Roger. Hold at arden. Maintain seven thousand feet. Can you confirm delay only twenty minutes? Tower: (exhales) Probably..All depends, really. MARTIN: Thank you, Tower. Hugely informative as ever. Out. (turns off the intercom) Sorry, chaps, looks like we'd better divert to Bristol. ARTHUR: Bristol? Why? MARTIN: Fitton's got a runway closure. We'd have to hold for twenty minutes ARTHUR: But Bristol, that's miles away. MARTIN: Yes..Luckily enough though, we are in an aeroplane, specially designed to be good at going miles away quite quickly. ARTHUR: Yeah..But my car's at Fitton. MARTIN: Oh, well then, let us, by all means, circle round it until we drop out of the sky. DOUGLAS: Do you know, Martin, all these years and I've never been to Bristol? MARTIN: We'll get ready for a treat. DOUGLAS: I don't know. I was rather hoping not to break my duck. ARTHUR: Skip, are you sure there's not enough fuel to wait, because there's always a little bit left when the guage shows red. MARTIN: Yes, oddly enough, Arthur, a jet aircraft isn't as precisely similar to a Vauxhall Corsa as a stupid person might imagine. We're going to Bristol. ARTHUR: What do you reckon, Douglas? DOUGLAS: We could go to Bristol, I believe. People do. However, we've easily enough fuel spare to hold for twenty minutes, maybe even thirty. MARTIN: Yeah, I'm sorry, but we are diverting. ARTHUR: Yeah, hang on a tick though, If Douglas reckons twenty minutes.. MARTIN: No, let's not hang on a tick. Let's listen to the Captain, shall we? DOUGLAS: Of course, Martin, if you say we divert, then divert we shall. MARTIN: Thank you. DOUGLAS: Unless of course we were to smell smoke in the flight deck. MARTIN: What? DOUGLAS: I'm just saying, if by any remote chance, we smelt smoke in the flight deck, we would of course be duty-bound to land at the nearest available airfield with immediate priority. In this case, by a happy coincidence, Fitton. MARTIN: Yes, maybe. But I don't smell smoke in the flight deck. DOUGLAS: (lighting a match) How about now? MARTIN: What are you suggesting, Douglas? DOUGLAS: We tell the Tower we smell smoke which we do. We get to land straight away. They check the aircraft. Don't find anything. One of the life's little mysteries, but jolly good boys for taking no chances. Everybody is happy, and there's jam for tea. ARTHUR: Right. That's, you know, that's really clever. MARTIN: No! I'm sorry, but absolutely not. DOUGLAS: I used to do it all the time at Air England. MARTIN: Well, you're not at Air England now. Where you are now, is in a co-pilot seat, and on the way to Bristol. You'll like it. They have a lovely suspension bridge. DOUGLAS: Well..Shall I just sat-com Carolyn before we make our final decision. It's rather an expensive diversion. MARTIN: No! We have made our final decision. I have

Concentration

Concentration After winning several archery contests, the young and rather boastful champion challenged a Zen master who was renowned for his skill as an archer. The young man demonstrated remarkable technical proficiency when he hit a distant bull’s eye on his first try, and then split that arrow with his second shot. “There,” he said to the old man, “see if you can match that!” Undisturbed, the master did not draw his bow, but rather motioned for the young archer to follow him up the mountain. Curious about the old fellow’s `intentions, the champion followed him high into the mountain until they reached a deep chasm spanned by a rather flimsy and shaky log. Calmly stepping out onto the middle of the unsteady and certainly perilous bridge, the old maser picked a far away tree as a target, drew his bow, and fired a clean, direct hit. “Now it is your turn,” he said as he gracefully stepped back onto the safe ground. Staring with terror into the seemingly bottomless and beckoning abyss, the young man could not force himself to step out onto the log, no less shoot at a target. “You have much skill with your bow,” the master said, sensing his challenger’s predicament, “but you have little skill with the mind that lets loose the shot.”

The Cobbler and the Banker

The Cobbler and the Banker 皮匠和银行家 La Fontaine/拉. A cobbler passed his time in singing from morning till night; it was wonderful to see, wonderful to hear him; he was more contented in making shoes, than was any of the seven sages. His neighbor, on the contrary, who was rolling in wealth, sung but little, and slept less. He was a banker; when by chance he fell into a doze at day-break, the cobbler awoke him with his song. The banker complained sadly that Providence had not made sleep a saleable commodity, like edibles or drinkables. Having at length sent for the songster, he said to him, "How much a year do you earn, Master Gregory?" "How much a year, sir?" said the merry cobbler laughing, "I never reckon in that way, living as I do from one day to another; somehow I manage to reach the end of the year; each day brings its meal." "Well then! How much a day do you earn, my friend?" "Sometimes more, sometimes less; but the worst of it is, -and, without that our earnings would be very tolerable, -a number of days occur in the year on which we are forbidden to work; and the curate, moreover, is constantly adding some new saint to the list." The banker, laughing at his simplicity, said, "In the future I shall place you above want. Take this hundred crowns, preserve them carefully, and make use of them in time of need." The cobbler fancied he beheld all the wealth which the earth had produced in the past century for the use of mankind. Returning home, he buried his money and his happiness at the same time. No more singing; he lost his voice, the moment he acquired that which is the source of so much grief. Sleep quitted his dwelling; and cares, suspicions, and false alarms took its place. All day, his eye wandered in the direction of the treasure; and at night, if some stray cat made a noise, the cat was robbing him. At length the poor man ran to the house of his rich neighbor; "Give me back," said he, "sleep and my voice, and take your hundred crowns."

Success Is on the Other Side

Success Is On The Other Side Everybody wants success. Some people aim for it; others just talk about it. We all know what it looks like when someone else has it. Often times it just seems like something too far out of reach. The truth is, success is closer than you think. It’s just on the other side, you have to want it enough, and be willing enough to get it. On the other side of fear Fear is your biggest obstacle – fear of failure, fear of the judgment of others; fear of actually succeeding. It will trip you up every time. It will cause you to make decisions that may seem “right” at the time, but they're preventing you from actually getting over that wall. On the other side of excuses Success has no excuses. You either get it or you don't. The minute you find a reason not to take another step towards success is the moment you stop being successful. In the symphony of success, excuses are just noise. On the other side of obstacles Everyone faces changes; different ones at different times. We all handle the same challenges differently; we all have different results. It's how you handle each one and what you do with the results that count. An obstacle is something you either find a way around or allow to stop you. Remember, you've got to get passed obstacles in order to succeed. On the other side of failures Not everything works; even if it works for other people, the same thing just doesn’t work for us. So what? Failure can either become an obstacle and an excuse or it can become your teacher in what not to do. It takes effort, commitment and follow-through. They call it a ladder of success for a reason-- because you need to climb it in order to get somewhere. It's not an escalator. You just don't stand there and let it do the work for you. You have to do the work yourself. Sometimes it will be easy; other times you'll be carrying a heavy load on your shoulders. The ladder remains the same. Success still waits on the other side. It's going to take determination and persistence on your part to get up and over that wall. Which side do you want to be on?

Increasing Confidence

Increasing Confidence Robert Stuberg The world is changing rapidly and most people are very anxious about it. In fact, I think it might even be stronger and more accurate to say that most people are downright fearful of what they see going on around them. Technological change and innovation are completely altering many aspects of our lives and it doesn’t stop there. Economic changes, social changes, scientific changes, political changes… the list is endless. However, the big question we all face is how are we going to respond to these changes? While the specific answers about what to do take time and thought to uncover, the best way to approach the future and all of the changes it will bring can be summed up in one word: Confidence. Personal confidence is one of the greatest assets we all possess. Certainly some people seem to have much more of it than others but I believe that confidence is a skill that we can all develop. In some ways, it is undoubtedly the most important skill we can develop. With confidence, all things are within the realm of possibility. Without confidence, even the smallest challenges seem insurmountable. What I find fascinating is that people with confidence always seem to end up on top. They seem to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. It’s as if problems and challenges run from the person who has confidence. I think what’s so difficult for most people is the belief that confidence has to be based on having a specific solution at hand but that’s just not true. What we all respect and admire is the person who can stand up against overwhelming difficulties and persevere without an answer. Here’s the secret that most people never get. Life’s challenges are no match for the person with unstoppable confidence. While the problems or challenges might seem too big to be overcome, the person with confidence always finds a way to win regardless of the circumstances. Ultimately, life’s challenges run and hide from the person that maintains confidence. This is hard lesson to learn. The problems of life seem so big and scary and we often think of ourselves as so small and fragile. But that’s not the way it is. That’s the illusion that most people by into, but it’s not the truth. The truth is that we are bigger than anything that can ever happen to us in life. We have the power and ability to overcome any obstacle in our path. And the most important tool we possess is personal confidence, believing in your ability to overcome the current challenge just like we have done so many times in the past. Whatever challenge is currently in your life, know that it’s there to help you grow and expand. Use the problems you encounter to help you build your personal confidence. Remember, you wouldn’t have the problem if you didn’t have the power to overcome it. Expanding your personal confidence will allow you to take on whatever you need to in order to fulfill your personal mission.

You Are What You Do

You Are What You Do by Mayling Soong If the past has taught us anything, it is that every cause brings effect — every action has a consequence1). This thought, in my opinion, is the moral foundation of the universe; it applies equally in this world and the next. We Chinese have a saying: “If a man plants melons, he will reap melons; if he sows beans, he will reap beans.” And this is true of every man’s life: good begets2) good, and evil leads to evil. True enough, the sun shines on the saint and sinner alike, and too often it seems that the wicked wax3) and prosper4). But we can say with certitude5) that, with the individual as with the nation, the flourishing of the wicked is an illusion6), for, unceasingly, life keeps books on us all. In the end, we are all the sum total of our actions. Character cannot be counterfeited7), nor can it be put on and cast off as if it were a garment to meet the whim8) of the moment. Like the markings on wood which are ingrained9) in the very heart of the tree, character requires time and nurture for growth and development. Thus also, day by day, we write our own destiny, for inexorably10) we become what we do. This, I believe, is the supreme11) logic and law of life.

Empty Your Cup

A university professor went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea,the professor talked about Zen. The master poured the visitor's cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself." It's overfull! No more will go in!" the professor blurted." You are like this cup," the master replied,"How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup."

You are my sunshine

The other night dear as I lay sleeping I dreamed I held you in my arms But When I awoke dear I was mistaken And I hung my head and cried You are my sunshine my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray You'll never know dear how much I love you Please don't take my sunshine away I'll always love you and made you happy If you will only say the same But if you leave me to love another You'll regret it all some day You are my sunshine my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray You'll never know dear how much I love you Please don't take my sunshine away You told me once dear you really loved me And no one else could come between But now you've left me and love another You have shattered all my dreams You are my sunshine my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray You'll never know dear how much I love you Please don't take my sunshine away

The More Loving One

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well That, for all they care, I can go to hell, But on earth indifference is the least We have to dread from man or beast. How should we like it were stars to burn With a passion for us we could not return? If equal affection cannot be, Let the more loving one be me. Admirer as I think I am Of stars that do not give a damn, I cannot, now I see them, say I missed one terribly all day. Were all stars to disappear or die, I should learn to look at an empty sky And feel its total dark sublime, Though this might take me a little time.
