The Stardust Place Fire RE-RELEASE - Part 2

Over the years we have covered numerous cases which have prompted people to get in touch with us. This is probably the most emailed about case we have covered on Seeing Red.  We recently received a lovely email that was very personal and very emotional to read and in this the author suggested we re-release these episodes as currently the inquest is ongoing. We agreed and would love for you to either hear these episodes again or if you missed them the first time round, to listen now.  These re-releases are dedicated to anyone who has been affected by the Stardust night club fire including Ray who got in touch and asked us to cover this story originally and every listener who has been in touch to share their story too.

Case Reopened: The Assassination of Kim Jong-nam

We're on our end of season 9 break right now, back with our season 10 premier on 13 September. To fill the gap, we've delved into our archives to bring you an episode that has resonated with us for one reason or another. This week it's Mark's turn. Before he plays the episode, he talks you through why he's dug this particular episode out and why he was inspired to cover it. ORIGINAL SYNOPSIS: This week, we take a deep dive into the life and death of Kim Jong-nam, the brother of North Korean dictator and all round nut job Kim Jong-un. Following an ill-feted trip to Disneyland in 2001, Jong-nam was ostracised from the family and exiled to Macau. Here, he led a relatively normal life, going about his business under a false name, passing information to the CIA, while occasionally speaking out against his brother's authoritarian rule over North Korea. But the clock was always ticking on Kim Jong-nam's life and in 2017, as he arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to fly home to his wife and kids, he was executed in front of dozens of passengers. Join us as we shine a light on North Korea and take you, in real-time, to the very public assassination of Kim Jong-nam. This case has been inspired by 'Assassins' - a true crime documentary which is available in virtual cinemas and on demand now. For further information, head to www.assassins-film.co.uk.

BONUS Episode: Interview with Leigh Allis

Back in July 2019 (season 2; episode 21: A Fatal Feud), we covered a neighbourly dispute which ended in one man being shot dead. That man was Tony Allis and his son is Leigh. Leigh bravely spoke to us to give his version of events in what has proved to be a highly controversial case. He takes us back to that fateful day in 1990 - you will feel as though you are there, helplessly watching the events unfold as you stand back, paralysed in fear.  Leigh takes us through the subsequent court case, his quest for justice in the name of his father and he tells us how this terrible tragedy has impacted him. *The sound quality in this episode is a little 'hit and miss' due to it being recorded remotely and there being a number of us on the line* **Recommended listening prior to listening to this episode: Season 2 Episode 21: A Fatal Feud**

Introducing Broken Seeking Justice

Mark was a HUGE fan of 'Broken: Jeffrey Epstein' and he is delighted that the hotly anticipated follow up 'Broken: Seeking Justice' is launching on 16 September.  'Broken: Seeking Justice' no longer puts Epstein at the centre of the story but rather follows the survivors’ paths for justice and what that means to them in the wake of his death.  It’s a story of female empowerment in the face of tragedy and adversity. 'Broken: Seeking Justice' follows host Tara Palmeri as she joins these women to confront the enablers of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes to seek justice from everyone and everything that played a role in their abuse. We cannot recommend this show highly enough... Check out the trailer and our exclusive introduction and make sure you subscribe today.  Just search for 'Broken: Seeking Justice' wherever you listen to podcasts.
