The Triangle- Malignant Narcissist Pt3
Dr. Phil discusses the philosophy and characteristics of malignant narcissists, individuals who believe that the world is out to get them and that they must get others first. Malignant narcissists prioritize their personal pleasure over the safety and well-being of others, have a lack of empathy and conscience, are highly manipulative, exploitative, and vengeful, and they constantly seek power and dominance over others. Dr. Phil also explains the traits and behaviors of psychopaths, who often display similar characteristics to malignant narcissists. Learn why it’s important to recognize and avoid these individuals.

Gaslighting And The Covert Narcissist Pt2
Dr. Phil continues discussing narcissism and focuses on covert narcissism, which is more subtle than classic narcissism. Narcissists have a false sense of superiority and lack empathy. Covert narcissists have the same traits as classic narcissists but express them in more subtle ways. They manipulate and gaslight their partners, and are judgmental, and envious. Dr. Phil emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries and not trying to fix narcissists.

Navigating Narcissism
The term 'narcissist' is having a moment right now- but is the word being overused? It's important to know exactly who and what you are dealing with. An accurate, clear understanding of narcissistic behavior is essential to living with this condition.
Dr. Phil discusses narcissistic personality disorder and how to deal with individuals who exhibit this behavior. Narcissists have a pattern of grandiosity, lack empathy, and see themselves as superior. They can be difficult to confront since they manipulate and gaslight others. Dealing with narcissists involves setting boundaries and recognizing their behavior. Dr. Phil emphasizes the importance of protecting oneself, having a support system, and being aware of narcissistic behavior to prevent exploitation.

How To Prepare For A Serious Accident
Every year, over 500,000 Americans file for bankruptcy due to medical bills. Many of these arise from auto accidents that occur at alarming rates, oftentimes leaving the victim with a brain or spinal cord injury. John Prosser II, president of the NeuroTrauma Association, joins Dr. Phil on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to give you information to prepare yourself in case you or someone you love suffers this type of accident. Learn how to get medical coverage and where to get the support and treatment you may need to heal.
“We’re trying to get millions of drivers all over the country to look at this through the lens of ‘Oh, my God. What if this happens to me?’” Prosser says.

How To Protect Our Children From Psychological Malignancies On Social Media
In part 2 of the Phil in the Blanks podcast about the dangers of social media content, Dr. Phil continues his discussion with Imran Ahmed, Founder and CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate. They discuss social media companies not taking accountability for third-party content, building awareness of this gross neglect, and more.
Social media is full of wonderful opportunities for people to connect. It is also filled with people who push identity-based hate, extremism, disinformation, and conspiracy theories. Imran Ahmed joins Dr. Phil on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to discuss psychological malignancies on social media – and how to protect our children against them.
ABOUT: The Center for Countering Digital Hate counters hate and disinformation, by disrupting the online architecture enabling its rapid worldwide growth. Digital technology has changed the way we communicate, build and maintain relationships, set social standards, and negotiate and assert our society’s values. Digital spaces, however, are often safe for bad actors spreading hate and disinformation, turning them into a hostile environment for others. Over time these bad actors, advocating diverse causes – from misogyny and racism to denial of science and conspiracy theories – have mastered using these platforms to cause considerable real-world harm.

Parents? Teachers? Bureaucrats? – Who Can Fix The Education System In America?
Sadly, the interest to become a teacher or remain a teacher is the worst in our nation’s history. We’ll tackle the teacher shortage, low standards, student whining, and new requirements in states like AZ & FL that passed what critics call the “warm body” law to put unqualified people in classrooms as teachers. Other states are pushing universities to expedite teacher certifications. Some districts are hiring student teachers who are still enrolled in college to be full-time first-year teachers. Dr. Ingrid Haynes-Traylor served two decades in P-12 public education as a teacher and administrator and now serves as the Director of the National Literacy Institute. She also teaches bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level literacy courses and has published books and numerous journal articles on literacy instruction. She actively researches best practices in literacy instruction for at-risk student groups and conducts literacy training and workshops across the nation to build instructional capacity in teachers who teach our most fragile learners.

Victimhood culture, a concept that originates in sociology, is today defined as a tendency of people to over-emphasize the need to protect their (sexual, gender, ethnic) identity and to present themselves as victims, even if the alleged offense was minor or only imagined. My guest today, PASTOR JAMES WARD, says that the “core conviction to overcome is the first step to shifting from victim to zero victim thinking.” We are discussing Pastor James’ book “Zero Victim: Overcoming Injustice with a New Attitude” and ways we can get out of victimhood.

“Harm reduction” is a theory that argues deaths from overdoses can be greatly reduced with the implementation of strategies that allow people with drug dependency access to drugs in a safe way. Sen. Scott Wiener Discusses ‘Safe Sites’ For Drug Addicts To Use
California State Senator Scott Wiener joins Dr. Phil on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to discuss “safe sites” for drug addicts to use. Senator Wiener, who wrote Senate Bill 57, which would have legalized safe consumption sites in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles and Los Angeles County, shares why he says he considers this to be life-saving legislation – and why he thinks Governor Newsom vetoed it.
“We have tried arresting people, incarcerating people, and for some, that works,” Senator Wiener says. “But for most people, it doesn’t. That’s what safe consumption sites are about – first and foremost, making sure people don’t die.”

Diving Into The Homeless Crisis In America
California has the highest number of homeless encampments in the United States and holds more than half of all unsheltered homeless people. In an effort to resolve homelessness, major cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Portland, Austin, Houston, and San Francisco, are passing bills that will effectively ban homeless encampments from certain areas. However, homeless advocates argue banning and sweeping homeless encampments is inhumane, doesn’t solve the problem, and will ultimately create even bigger issues.
Dr. Phil speaks with Donald Whitehead, Executive Director of the National Coalition for the Homeless, on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to dig deeper into this crisis.
“If we give them a hand-up – not a handout – we can really change the direction of this country,” says Whitehead, who has worked for years advocating for systemic change to end homelessness.

2 Years Later: Have Views On Black Lives Changed?
Dr. Phil devotes his platform to analyzing how life has changed for Black Americans in the almost two years since the tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, and the subsequent widespread Black Lives Matter protests demanding racial equality. Dr. Phil meets professor Dr. Shaun Harper from USC, who says that while he remains an optimist, he claims to have not seen nearly enough effective change in society to start the process of creating equality and justice between Black and white Americans. Dr. Phil and Sergeant Adam Plantinga: '400 Things Cops Know'
Veteran police sergeant and author of 400 Things Cops Know and Police Craft, Adam Plantinga, is Dr. Phil’s guest on this week’s Phil in the Blanks podcast. Ever wonder what a cop knows? How they think? What they feel? How they cope with the streets? How they do their jobs? Sgt. Adam Plantinga knows the answers to all these questions. That’s because he’s been a cop for almost twenty years and he’s smart. And funny. And honest. Thankfully for us he’s turned his life into best-selling books that share his sometimes shocking, breathtaking experiences and insights- books that screenwriters and crime novelists use to help them create believable characters and stories. Turns out being a cop is not at all like what we see on television and in the movies. What do cops think about the communities they serve? Racial profiling? Gun control? Interrogation? Diversity training? Fearing for one’s life? Dealing with the bad ten percent ninety percent of the time? Their mental health? What do they really need? If you care about how to understand and help the men and women who keep you safe then you need to get yourself settled in and listen to Dr. Phil’s conversation with San Francisco Police Officer and Author Adam Plantinga. NBA Champion Metta World Peace: No Malice
Americans are fascinated by athletes. There is an entire media industry built around critiquing their work, assessing their value, and holding them accountable to the adoring public that craves their success and pays their salaries. Athletes rarely allow the public to see beyond carefully crafted branding strategies. Some shun the public’s attention altogether, some crave that attention and can’t live without out it. Metta World Peace is one of those rare athletes who make no pretense of hiding who he is and what he’s about. Metta has struck a chord with Americans. Whether by design or not he is more transparent and accessible than most athletes and exerts far less control over what he allows us to see. When he won a championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most recognizable and valuable sports franchises on Earth, he thanked his psychiatrist in his post-game comments. Not the kind of thing most athletes would do. But our guest has had to struggle for everything and knows what is a real accomplishment. He was raised on public basketball courts in New York City where people have been killed over petty personal disputes. He has had to look over his shoulder his whole life. In one of the most competitive sports, he became a first-round pick in the NBA, an All-Star, won the NBA’s coveted Defensive Player of the Year Award, and of course, became a World Champion. While achieving the impossible he struggled to leave his past behind. He has fought his battle with mental health in front of the cameras and has become an important voice in understanding mental health and how mental health problems impact athletes and athletics. He has come so far from his rough and tumble roots that he won the J. Walter Kennedy Award given to the NBA player who shows outstanding service and dedication to the community. Of all the things he has achieved that is among the most impressive because it shows the true colors of this playground warrior.

Ron White: Unfiltered and Off the Cuff Funny
Ever wish you could live a life where you could say exactly what is on your mind at all times? Very few people actually have that kind of freedom. It takes a certain kind of sacrifice in order to reap the rewards that come from being true to who you are. Such people must take the risk that being yourself will lead to being successful. There’s a certain kind of character a person must have to take such a risk- whatever happens is yours and yours alone- success or failure- its nobody else’s fault. We like that kind of character on Phil In The Blanks. True success ultimately comes down to self-ownership and the courage to take responsibility for oneself- all the good and all the not so good. Ron White has walked that walk, and because he’s walked the walk he can talk the talk- and when he talks people laugh and they laugh hard. He’s a Navy Vietnam vet, a blue-collar comedy icon, a producer, an actor, a whiskey drinking, cigar smoking, unfiltered, off the cuff stand up from a small town in Texas who’s seen it all, done it all and landed on his feet in front of microphone. One has to love Ron White for all the good and for how he helps others learn to walk in their own truth the best they can. https://www.drphilintheblanks.com/

Emmitt Smith On The NFL, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ And More
When it comes to judging future success, most people get it wrong, one way or the other. There are simply too many variables. One of the hardest things to do on Earth is play in the National Football League. It is also one of the hardest places to predict individual success. Everyone in the league is superior in some way: speed, strength, agility, skill, instinct, passion. Separation between best and worst is often measured in split seconds or a couple of inches, or in a single moment of inspiration or hesitation. Think about what it takes to be the best ever in a world like the NFL, to somehow move beyond superior and live there. Emmitt Smith thought about it then went out and did it. But when he was coming out of high school a man considered to be an expert at judging young football talent said about him: “he is a lugger, not a runner. He’s not fast. He can’t get around the corner. When he falls flat on his face, remember where you heard it first.” The most important variable in becoming the best running back in the history of the NFL is being Emmitt Smith.

Charlamagne Tha God: The Man Behind— ‘Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me’
Money, success, fame, and influence are not an antidote to anxiety and can even make things worse. For Charlamagne Tha God, living with anxiety has been a life-long issue, from an unsafe childhood and a dysfunctional family to being black and successful in America, he has looked at mental health from every perspective. As a popular radio and podcast host he has discussed the issue at length and has arrived at a compelling way of looking at things, that is, at times, at odds with the way mental health is viewed in parts of his community. Here on ‘Phil In The Blanks’ we are going to look at how anxiety and other mental health issues are viewed behind the scenes in media work environments and in the African American community and see how one man’s tireless struggle to overcome anxiety, fear and doubt has helped shape the lives of his family, his friends, his co-workers, and even some A-list celebrities. Piers Morgan - An Appetite For Conflict And Controversy

The youngest editor in fifty years of a British national newspaper succeeds with a cunning wit and a win at any cost approach to giving the public what it wants. He has an appetite for conflict and a nose for controversy, but he himself is a controversial figure as well, through his comments about others and by stretching the laws on privacy and access to celebrities’ lives. As an editor, television host and columnist Piers Morgan has made himself an international success by getting to what’s interesting about people and there is nothing controversial about that. He’s a man who will go toe to toe, any time, any place, and that’s the kind of spirit we like here on Phil In The Blanks. For more information: https://www.drphilintheblanks.com

Tony Romo - A Drive To Win
Tony Romo, winner of the prestigious Walter Payton Award for outstanding division 1-AA football player, and a consensus All- American, was an undrafted rookie out of Eastern Illinois University when he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an extra quarterback for practice drills. He hung around long enough to make the team and get a chance as a backup quarterback which he grabbed on to and never looked back. One of the highest-rated quarterbacks ever, holder of numerous team and NFL records, and considered one of the gutsiest and smartest quarterbacks to ever play the game. He was forced to retire due to a compression fracture in his spine or he would still be playing. But his loss has been our gain- soon after retiring he landed in the CBS broadcast booth where every football fan in American has marveled at his incredible ability to know what plays teams are going to call next from both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, which has created a whole new level of fun and excitement in our television experience of the NFL and set a new gold standard for broadcasting sports. Tony Romo is a perfect example of the old adage- "the cream always rises to the top." He didn't have the high-profile college career many others had, but there was no denying his talent once he stepped on the field as he outperformed big-time first-round draft picks his entire career. Never give up, never doubt your abilities, grab onto opportunities when they show up and you'll rise to the top just like Tony Romo. For more information go to https://www.drphilintheblanks.com
