Each episode will focus on a specific mental health topic, how real people are effected by this, & overcome these obstacles in every day life. Not enough people are talking about the raw honest truth in dealing with mental illness. Reaching one person at a time, we plan on making this a real conversation to give people the comfort of not feeling alone in this constant uphill battle many of us deal with.

Bipolar Disorder - ft. Gabe Howard

Bipolar disorder affects 2.6% of the United Staes populations, which translates to 6.3 million people. This is a mental illness that starts as early as 15-19 years old, and can usually last a lifetime. Domestic Violence & Unhealthy Relationships

Domestic violence and getting into an unhealthy relationship is something that is unfortunately, common. Over one in three women, and one in four men, have experienced physical violence, rape or stalking victimization by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Domestic violence refers to physical, sexual, or psychological harm done to an individual by a current or former partner or spouse. There are so many different forms of DV and unhealthy relationships, it is very hard to be able to pin point red flags. Even if you can point them out, taking action in response is a lot easier said than done. Traumatic events associated with DV can lead to stress, fear, and isolation that can develop suicidal thoughts and behaviors. This is why DV is associated with various physical and mental health effects. Victims of DV have an increased risk of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and suicide. Service Dogs & Military PTSD

Horse racing is an extremely competitive sport that you can find all over the globe. A British study done on the mental health aspect of this sport deemed that the week to week workload required by the sport is potentially unsustainable. There is large concern for the extensive over time hours without pay, since it is now being normalized in the sport. This is and many other things are causing a great psychological strain on individuals involved.These findings are detailed around jockeys, trainers, stud and stable staff along with other stakeholders who are apart of this “relentless” industry. 87% of racing personnel interviewed said they were dealing with some type of depression, anxiety, and/or stress. 13% said it led them to substance abuse to help resolve the issues.The point is, there are not enough people talking about mental health within this sport. Alcoholism in College

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism did a survey showing that 1 in 4 college students experience academic difficulties from drinking, such as missing class or getting behind in school work.In a national survey, college students that binge drank alcohol at least 3 times per week were roughly 6 times more likely to perform poorly on a test or a project as a result of drinking (40% vs 7%) than students who did not binge drink.Now this episode is not to deter you away from ever drinking. Burnout in the Workplace

Working long hours poses an occupational health risk that kills hundreds of thousands of people each year, the World Health Organization says.Individuals working 55 or more hours every week face an estimated 35% higher risk of a stroke and a 17% higher risk of dying from heart disease, compared to people following the vastly accepted standard of working 35 to 40 hours in a week, the WHO presents in a study that was published in the journal Environment International.Join host Elex with Dr. Jacqueline Kerr to talk about burnout in the workplace.
