#317: Noah part 6: Water Levels Fall
Genesis 8:1-5 & 2 Peter 3:9
The rain stops, God sends a wind that makes the water level decrease, and the ark hits solid ground as it sits atop a mountain! They may have expected to step onto dry land immediately, but God had a different plan.
They waited 150 days on the ark as the waters slowly vanished.
We are reminded that even in the waiting, God was working. God never forgets & He is always faithful.
We hope you enjoy this episode and are so happy you are teaching your kids the Bible!

#316: Noah part 5: The Great Flood
Genesis 7:11-20
The rain begins and continues for 40 days and 40 nights. Even though the ark goes through rough waters, Noah, his family, and the animals remain safe inside just as God promised. The kids will love hearing this one come to life!
Kids will be reminded that when they feel like life's storms are tossing them around, to:
remember Noah
remember the ark
and most importantly, remember that just as God protected Noah, and Jesus calmed the sea, God is still watching over you, keeping you safe in the storms of life.
How do I know I can trust him? Because of the cross. I look to it and remember that God sent his only son, Jesus. That Jesus died on the cross and rose again. He rescued us when we couldn’t rescue ourselves. He loves you that much!

#279 Wisdom: Solomon part III
1Kings 3:1-15, 1Kings 4:20-34 , & Proverbs 3:14-15
If you missed last weeks episode, make sure to go back and listen so you understand how we got to where we are. Today we hear Solomon ask God for wisdom. This pleases God and God not only gives him wisdom but riches. We will learn that Solomon wrote some of this wisdom down in the book of Proverbs and read a verse showing the value of wisdom. In this world you may hear people call something wise when actually it’s the opposite, it's foolish. This is why It's important we always go back to our Bibles to see what it says about Godly wisdom.
I hope your family enjoys this episode in our Solomon series.

#278: Solomon Crowned King: Solomon part II
1Kings1:28-53, 1 Kings2:1-4,10-12,& Chronicles 22:7-10
If you missed last week, we began the Solomon series. I highly recommend you go back and listen as the episodes build upon themselves. Today, we hear King David give important instructions to Solomon before he passes. Adonijah's status of king is short lived when Solomon is crowned king.
We remember that long ago, God said all of this would happen. The kids will hear us discussing this important fact that God's plans can never be messed up. We also note that David made some terrible decisions but turned to God and asked him for forgiveness. The kids will be reminded that even our mistakes can be used in God's plan and even though David had some huge mess ups, it did not disqualify him from God's love or God's plan. That brings us peace and encouragement! To be age appropriate, we are not discussing certain details about David's sin, but if it's something your family is ready to discuss, please do so.
Tune in next week to hear what Solomon will do as the new king.

#277: Which Brother will become King?-Solomon part 1
1 Samuel 16:6-12, 1 Kings 1:1-25, Chronicles 22:7-10
Today we kick off our series on Solomon. We begin with a quick refresher on David since that is Solomon's father. As David aged, his reign as king was coming to an end. It was time for him to announce who would rule after him but before David even chose, one of his other sons, Adonijah, decided he would be king next, not Solomon. How will David choose who should become king next? We read in Chronicles that long before this moment, the Lord told David who would become king next.
I hope you enjoy this Solomon series. Parents, some parts of episodes are adapted out of respect for the variety of ages that listen (Examples include adaptions for graphic violence and sex). Scripture is always referenced for parents to read and include more as is appropriate for their family.

Introduction to Solomon
For the month of March, we are beginning a brand new series on Solomon!
Each episode will also build upon itself so if you miss one, just go back and listen. We are going to learn about Solomon 1 episode at a time and let me tell you, the Bible is never boring so buckle up.
Parents I have adapted some of these episodes out of respect for each family's ages and stages of life. I always include the scripture for you to read yourself and include what's appropriate for your family. I make every effort to not alter the meaning of the scriptures when using artistic liberties or adapting to be age appropriate. Being biblically sound is of utmost importance!
Click the subscribe or follow button on your podcast so you will be alerted to each new, free episode that comes out. Next week we will begin this series following the typical Kids Bible Stories format.

#276: Love part 2: Love Doesn't Mean Always Getting What you Want
Psalm 119: 35-37 (NIV AND ICB) & 1 John 5:3-5
We continue our short love series. Today's episode will define what a command is and understand that God's commands are made out of his love for us. We will hear what the Bible says about this and move to an example so the kids can understand it. They will learn that rules are actually loving; a way to protect us and bring us delight.

#275A: Love Part 1: What Love IS
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 & 1 John 4:7, 9-10
This begins a short series on love. To celebrate Valentine's Day this month, I decided it would be good to see what the Bible has to say about love. Where does love come from? Who created it? What does it look like? Tune in to hear what the Bible has to say about these questions.
1 John 4:9-10: " This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and God sent his Son to die in our place to take away our sins."
Thanks for allowing me to play a small part in teaching your children about Jesus. I am honored and don't take this role lightly!

Thank you for your Prayers; update episode
This is not our typical episode. I realized I have not updated how my 5yr old son has been doing. I know so many of you have helped join me in prayer and for that, I am beyond grateful. I wanted to say thank you & give a short update. Though there have been hard times, God has provided so much for us; whether that's resources, some good medical news, or how He has grown us. I would love to share all of this in detail but I know it may be inappropriate for some children to hear and I want to be sensitive to that. Thank you for your prayers!!!!!

Easter 5: What did Jesus Save us from?
Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16
Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are doing a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.
We learn about:
1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.
2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned.
3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.
***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. I did not address this here as I want to respect families and the personal discussions that need to occur in the home for this. ****** I am including the link Desiring God here as a resource on how to discuss hell with your children.

Easter 6: Why did Jesus die?
COLOSSIANS 2:13-15
Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had; many of them related to Easter. I am going to do my best to answer PART 2 of the more complex questions :Why Did Jesus Die?
We use a story about two children who disobey the rules and play ball in the house. This ends with a window being broken and the understanding that someone must cover the cost of this mistake. The children realize they can not fix such an expensive mistake and must be forgiven and helped by their parents. Though the parents were not the ones that broke the window, out of love and their ability to have money, they are able to cover this cost.
We use this example and connect the dots to the Bible that:
1. Our sin is very serious.
2. No human & no amount of money can fix our sins. Jesus is the only one who can save us. He never sinned.
3. Jesus cleaned up the mess we made and absorbed the cost himself when he died on the cross.
4. We all sin and can ask Jesus to forgive us.
Resources for parents:
The Reason for God by Tim Keller. This is an adult book and covers many difficult questions which you can study and then teach your child on their level.
5 Truths About the Death of Jesus This is an adult article from the Desiring God website. You will need to bring this down to a child's level but it is a good guide of what to begin covering with them.
The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross Kids book that addresses sin and the cross.

#141A: Exodus 4: Proof for Moses
Exodus 4: 1-21
If you missed the last episodes, I would encourage you to go back starting at # 138 . The stories will build upon themselves and you’ll better understand how we got to where we are in our story.
In today's story we hear Moses telling God he shouldn't be the 1 to help b/c he is not a good speaker. God reminds Moses that He gave Moses his mouth and it is Him, God, who makes man able to speak. Again we hear that it’s not about us, what we can do, but it’s about God and what HE can do. The children will hear how this applies to their very own lives.

I respect each families ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scriptures including what is appropriate for your family.

#137A: Heaven
Heaven...what will it be like? No one knows all of the answers to this but we will use what the Bible tells us about it through John's experience. Today's story will cover these parts of heaven:
1. God will be with us
2. Everyone and everything will live in perfect peace
3.There will be no sickness or hurting
4. There will be no more pain; all the pain/sadness we've felt on Earth will be undone and repaired.
I respect each families ages and stages of life so, I have chosen specific scriptures for this. Please go back and read them for yourself, including anything you feel is appropriate for your family.

#136A: The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25-37
A man asks Jesus to explain who his neighbor is. Jesus then tells the story of 3 men who passed by a hurt man but only 1 of them helped him. Only 1 of them treated the hurt man as his neighbor. We learn what the Bible means when it says you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. Our story shows us it matters WHO we are. Are we people who will help others and obey Jesus or will we only do so if it's the right person, place and time to do so.
The apply section will help the children connect the dots and apply this in their own lives.

Romans 6:1-2 & 12-14 This is part 2 in our short series: "Saved by Grace." We are tackling some hard concepts so this is shorter than our average. Ephesians 2:1-10
This is part 1 in our short series, Saved by Grace. The kids learn the definition of grace and are presented with the truth that NONE of us earn God's love or forgiveness; rather it is a gift. We apply this to their own lives using the analogy of getting a gift.

#133A: I'm with You Always
Matthew 28
HAPPY EASTER! Today we will pick up our story after Jesus was placed in the tomb. The story reminds us of the HOPE & TRUTH we have:
1. That all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him.
2. He is with us not sometimes, not when we are in a specific building or situation, BUT that HE is with us ALWAYS!

The kids will hear how this story applies to their own lives; whether it's at school or basketball practice. They will hear why we shouldn't judge others on outward appearances. #130A: Marvel
Psalm 19:1-6 & Isaiah 40: 25-29
Today's story reminds us why it's important to stop and take in the wonders God has created around us. They are true miracles that can point us back to Him, the Creator. You children are usually very good at this. You enjoy asking, "but why? Why do the leaves change color, why is the sky blue?" Even when we answer your questions with scientific words and terms we've made to describe what happens in nature, it does not take away the miracle behind how nature works. So kids, be curious; enjoy stopping and staring, and let what you learn make you marvel at how incredible our Creator is.

#114A: Just Because Things are Hard Does NOT Mean Jesus is Not There
Mark 4:35- 41 & John 16:33
Today we hear how Jesus' friends were scared during the storm. With the wind and waves tossing them about, their boat could sink! They were terrified. Even during this scary circumstance, Jesus was there. He had not left them.
Sometimes we get it confused and think Jesus is only around when we are winning all of our sports games and eating cupcakes all day. That's just not true. Jesus tells us that we will have troubles but to take heart, b/c He has overcome the World. John 16:33

#112A Part 2: What if David Had a Bad Attitude?
Today we get to play "what if" with David. David had already been anointed to be the next King yet he was still cheerful in obeying the every day, ordinary tasks. Tasks that would have seemed to be far beneath a king. When David woke up that morning, he didn't know he was going to be battling Goliath! There was opportunity for him in the ordinary. IF David had done just a few things differently, he may not have ended up fighting Goliath, saving his people, and glorifying God. David's attitude towards the ordinary helped him be ready for the opportunity to beat Goliath.
To hear the entire David and Goliath story, please listen first to episode # 112A. For further context, please listen to the series which is episodes # 6-12
