#069: Paying Off Debt with Kendra Gonzales
Years ago, a fellow teacher and friend came to my classroom to talk to me about something that felt very vulnerable and scary to share. She knew I was passionate about personal finances, and she needed help - fast! She was pregnant with her second child. The problem was her and her husband were living paycheck to paycheck and couldn't afford daycare. They needed to find a way to afford an extra $900 a month. Plus they were in serious credit card debt and had little to no savings. Her and her husband came to my house and we laid everything out on the table. Kendra and her husband walked away with a plan and today, just 4 years later, Kendra has an inspiring story to share that I think will be a pivotal moment to my listener's success and motivation when it comes to paying off debt. #062: How We Travel Hacked Our Family Vacation
Last month, our family returned from an 8-night vacation in Canada where we hiked up majestic mountains, skipped rocks in gorgeous glacier fed lakes, experienced orcas in their element, and encountered six bears. And that's exactly what we did! In fact, on this trip, we travel hacked flights for all four of us, a five-night car rental, and even part of our accommodations. Today I'm going to be sharing with you how we did it and the steps you can take to take your own dream vacation, whether you're just getting started with travel hacking or you've been doing it for a while. And in case you're wondering, yes, we're already planning our vacation for next summer! We're already stages of researching the signup bonuses for different credit cards, deciding what credit card we want to sign up for, and where we'd love to go so that we can travel hack another big family vacation next year! #046: Managing Your Money When You Have Depression & Anxiety
I'm not going to lie to you - I'm a little bit nervous about releasing this episode. Partly because I'm talking about something that I have experience in, but not professional training in. And also, because I'm going to be very vulnerable and open here. I'm going to be sharing something about myself that not a lot of people know about. And usually, when they do find out about it, they're pretty shocked. And that is: I struggle with anxiety and depression. I need to add this disclaimer: I am not a therapist. I am not a psychiatrist. My experiences with the subject that I'm speaking on today stem from my own personal experiences. If you've ever battled with anxiety or depression, you understand that our money doesn't care about our mental status. Life still goes on. Bills still need to be paid. This is why it's so important to create systems and safeguards for our money so that when our mental state isn't the best, our money can still do what it needs to do. In this episode, I'm sharing the 5 things you can set in motion TODAY to ensure you thrive financially in the midst of anxiety, depression, and/or financial stress! Enjoyed this podcast episode? #045: Inspiring Better Conversations About Money with Julien & Kiersten Saunders
Do you avoid conversations about money with family, friends, loved ones... maybe even yourself? Much of our actions with money today stem from our past beliefs and experiences. Learning to voice those beliefs and experiences about money is the first step in creating real change in your financial life. My guests today are Julien and Kiersten Saunders, the co-founders of Rich and Regular, Hosts & Producers of Money on the Table, and authors of the forthcoming book, Cashing Out. After paying off over $200,000 in debt while making the transition from corporate employee to full-time entrepreneur, they have made it their mission to inspire better conversations about money. The conversation that we ended up having was nothing close to what I thought it was going to be, and I think that it's really going to open your eyes and your heart to looking at your past with money differently.Enjoying the show?
