EP. 49 Why Doing Emotional Work Will Make Finishing Projects 1000x Easier with Sarah Yost

Trying to “just do it” when you’re feeling intense emotions about a task or project rarely works.  Fighting against yourself usually leads to more stress, anxiety, and angst. In this episode, I’m joined by fellow coach Sarah Yost—who I call the “emotions queen”— to talk about why and how to regulate when we’re feeling overwhelmed with emotions…and why she never recommends pushing through. She also shares a profound insight about why joining a coaching program like mine can create more negative emotions, like shame, in the beginning.  Listen in as we discuss: How losing your keys, misplacing a phone charger, and not showing up on time are external reflections of internal patterns Why having a simple action plan can actually exacerbate—instead of alleviate—shame A study on learned helplessness Simple ways to get out of fight or flight mode and back to work  Sarah Yost is an emotions coach for ADHD and neurodivergent people. She’ll help you feel way less anxious and way more at home with yourself through understanding, processing and working with your emotions. EP. 48 Three Client Case Studies: Their Productivity Struggles + Our Plan of Action

What’s it like to work with a productivity coach? The best way for you to understand the process and benefits of one-on-one coaching is to share real stories from real clients.  In this episode, I’m highlighting three clients who are all successful and are killing it in their respective jobs and industries.  They didn’t come to productivity coaching because they felt like failures. Instead, they chose to work with me because they know that despite their success, they have habits holding them back from sustainably growing their business, enjoying their work, and having a full, rich life outside of work. In each example, you’ll learn: Where the client was when they first came to me The exact plan that we put in place to help  Early wins and results they’ve created through 1:1 coaching I hope these client experiences spark some creative ideas and inspire you to keep working through mental, emotional, and logistical obstacles standing between you and calm, sustainable productivity.   MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE — 1:1 Productivity Coaching Consult Call   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Productivity Coach for Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 47 Why Being Open to Selling Your Business Enhances Your Productivity Right Now with Stacey Harris

If you’re like many business owners, you’ve never considered selling your business one day. And you might automatically assume that your business could never be sold. This means that you’re likely selling yourself short, and you’re never giving yourself the opportunity to prepare your business for a potential exit. This episode will change the way you see your long-term business growth, and the options available to you. The decision to be open to selling one day will shift how you operate, market, and delegate, which leads to a more sustainable, profitable business—even if you choose never to sell.  In this episode I’m joined by Stacey Harris, founder and CEO of the podcast production agency, Uncommonly More and the host of The More Profitable Podcast. She works with service-based businesses ready to generate, educate, and convert leads with their podcast. Listen in as we discuss: Why we recommend that you be open to selling your business The benefits of preparing your business so it’s not just a personal brand Looking to the future to answer “What’s on the other side of working for me?” Building your business into an asset Communicating changes and expectations to clients as your business grows and evolves Understanding what kind of opportunities you want to be available for, and how to make yourself available when those opportunities show up CONNECT WITH STACEY  — Website Instagram   MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE — 1:1 Productivity Coaching Consult Call Tara Newman   How to Productize Your Service and Buy Back Time with Stacey Harris Sara Frandina Tango Loom   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Productivity Coach for Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 46 How To Hit Any Goal You Truly Care About

Do you have mixed feelings about setting goals? Goals intrigue you because you like the idea of going after something and achieving it. But, if you’ve felt burned by goals in the past, it’s also normal to feel reluctance about setting a new one.  This is especially true if you’ve consistently pursued goals that were not relevant, meaningful, or rewarding to you. We’re going to change that today! So if you are ready to do goals differently, let’s get into 8 recommendations for pursuing goals that you truly care about: Set the right goal by using 5 Types of Project ROI Pick a sweet spot number for your goal that is both challenging and attainable Create a visual representation of your goal Brainstorm from scratch how you’re going to hit the goal  Track your progress with data and facts Utilize the 3 project finishing skills Learn and adjust until you hit the goal Expect to have sabotaging thoughts   MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE — 1:1 Productivity Coaching Consult Call EP. 05 5 Types of Project ROI EP. 20 The Oprah Million Dollar Challenge EP. 28 3 Skills Every Project Finisher Needs   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Productivity Coach for Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 45 Weep While You Work

If you struggle with sitting down to work after dealing with difficult situations or intense emotions, this episode is for you.  Relationship conflict. Worrying about your kids. Hormonal flare-ups.  These are all situations that generate intense negative emotions that can take our focus away from work. If you’re like most people, you do one of two things when you feel this way: You either go into hustle mode and ignore your emotions to push through your work OR you do the opposite and spend the day on self-care instead of working on your important tasks.  In this episode, you’ll learn a third option, with a cheeky name: “Weep while you work.” This concept is the middle ground between overworking and always taking time off when you feel bad.    Listen in as I discuss: The concept of “weep while you work” Common scenarios that bring up intense emotions Examples of how to “weep while you work” How to know when to work through intense emotions vs when to need a break   MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE — 1:1 Productivity Coaching Consult Call EP. 44 The Bare Minimum Method EP. 35 Navigating Productivity When Your Kid is Struggling with Ashley Jangro   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Productivity Coach for Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 28 The 3 Skills Every Project Finisher Needs

In order to be a calm, self-assured, repeat project finisher, you need to focus on mastering just 3 skill sets.  You’ve heard these 3 skill sets talked about here and there on the podcast, but this is the first time I’m addressing all 3 together, and explaining what they have in common.  The 3 skill sets that every project finisher needs: Deep work: The ability to focus on one high-impact result for 60-75 minutes  Monday Hour One: The ability to plan out your entire week in just one hour per week  Project planning: The ability to manage a project across an 8-week sprint  Here’s the good news: They’re all fundamentally the same skill set; once you master one, you can more easily master the next one You’re probably already doing these 3 skills more than you think you are You don’t need to be a total expert in these 3 skills in order to finish projects; you just need to do them slightly more than you’re currently doing them These questions will help you track your progress as you develop and improve these skill sets:  Deep work: On a scale of 1-10, how would you self-assess yourself on the ability to focus on demand on your most important work, for 60-75 minutes at a time? Monday Hour One: On a scale of 1-10, how would you self-rate your ability to plan out your week in a way that works for you?  Project planning: On a scale of 1-10, how would you self-assess your ability to make a project plan for your most important project and execute on that plan all the way to completion, overcoming obstacles along the way? I invite you to answer these questions and then send your answers to me on Instagram @piquecoaching. I’ll help you figure out where to focus first.    RESOURCES MENTIONED — Half-Finished to Done, LIVE 45-minute consult Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work, Author: Dan Heath & Chip Heath Monday Hour One: A New + Improved Time Blocking System   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Productivity Coach for Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 24 How to Plan a Break from Your Business with Kat Arapis

One of the biggest perks of running your own business is the ability to take tons of time off—for vacations and trips, for a mini-sabbatical, to handle a personal issue, or for a parental leave. And yet—so few business owners take full advantage of this benefit, because we’re never taught how to effectively take long chunks of time away from our businesses without them suffering. In this episode, I’m joined by business coach Kat Arapis to talk about how to set up your business to take time off, while still getting your work done in a way that you love and hitting your goals.  Kat has first-hand experience with this, from planning her own recent maternity leave, so I knew she’d be the perfect person to chat with on the podcast. EP. 22 Productivity Baggage

If you’ve tried something in the past to solve your business challenges and you feel like it didn’t work, this episode is for you. Clients who join my program, Half-Finished to Done, LIVE, are often hesitant to enroll because they’ve tried other programs, podcasts, books, and productivity methods to solve their challenges with time management, procrastination, and focus, to no avail.  I call this productivity baggage. It’s very normal but it’s solvable.  It can be super frustrating to feel like you went all in on something in the past, and it didn't work. These experiences can hold you back from wanting to say yes to another potential solution in the future. First, stop beating yourself up about having failed at something in the past. Instead, give yourself a moment to appreciate your past efforts, even though they didn't pan out the way you wanted them to. Then, experiment with these two ideas: Everything that you try is not meant to stick long term When you try something and you don't want to use it, that doesn't mean that it didn't work. It means that by process of elimination, you figured out that wasn't your thing—and that’s a good thing! Lastly, let's talk about what to do next. Listen in as I share the #1 thing that you can do in order to have more peace around your past decisions. When you find the next thing that you want to say yes to, you’ll be able to do it from a much healthier, more relaxed place, knowing that you're making the right decision.   RESOURCES MENTIONED: Half-Finished to Done, LIVE 45-minute consult Podcast episode: More self-awareness, focus, + creativity with morning pages   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Life Coach for Procrastinating Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 21 How To Audit Your Calendar

If you have a jam-packed calendar and you’re not getting the results that you want in your business, it tells us that your time is misaligned.  You likely have too many things on your schedule that are taking up your mental, emotional, and physical energy, without giving you what you actually want in return—like more finished projects that create more revenue, more positive emotions, more impact, more social capital, and more time for you.  Let’s start realigning your time today by running a calendar audit. In this episode, I’m teaching you how, using 4 frameworks.  If you already use your calendar actively in order to track what's going on with the schedule in your business or if you are looking to start actively calendaring, this episode is going to be particularly helpful for you.    QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE EPISODE — On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best), what is your current relationship to your calendar? What would a 10 out of 10 relationship to your calendar look like for you?  If you were already a 10 out of 10, what would your predominant thoughts about your calendar be? If you freed up 12+ hours per month using the 4 frameworks, what would you create space for?    LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Life Coach for Procrastinating Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 20 The Oprah Million Dollar Challenge

Ready to shift the way that you set up your project sprints? In this episode, I'm sharing a fun, energizing way to make your project plans more simple, effective, and doable. It's called the Oprah Million Dollar Challenge, and it’s a hands-on exercise that I do with my clients in my program, Half-Finished to Done, LIVE.  The challenge is a set of 5 questions that are designed to help you take high-value action on your most important project…without overcomplicating things. This is an interactive episode so get out a pen and paper or an empty Google Doc, and get ready to answer each question. Let’s go! Here are the Oprah Million Dollar Challenge questions: If you had to finish your project in just one week, how would you do it? If you had to 10x the original result that you wanted, how would you do it?  If you had to enjoy working on your project at least 75% of the time, how would you do it? Who is someone—real or fictitious—who you have no doubt could finish this project? What would they be thinking about themselves and the project that would make finishing inevitable? What would they be doing differently than you normally do? What would it require for you to get this project done in just one day? What would you spend absolutely no time, energy, and focus on, if you had a million dollars riding on this project? What would you stop doing that you’re currently doing? Cheers to bringing the fun and energy back into project finishing!   MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE —  Sarah Arnold-Hall The Alter Ego Effect™ by Todd Herman   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Life Coach for Procrastinating Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 18 Sprinting and Resting Strategy Session with Samantha Hoilett

I recently shared on Instagram that I run my business on what I call a “sprint and rest” model— meaning I go heads-down in my business for a focused period, then take a ton of time off.  This model works well for me because it allows me to work with my natural energy ebbs and flows, vs trying to be “consistent” every day and feeling bad that I’m not. So in case you needed to hear this: You don’t need to be consistent in a traditional sense in order to be successful in business. (From the mouth of a Procrastination Coach.)  After I posted about sprinting and resting on Instagram, Samantha Hoilett reached out to me to talk about her own decision to shift her business into a sprint and rest model.  Listen in as we discuss: Samantha’s business and personal reasons for wanting to move into a sprint and rest work style Embedding healthy, time-bound urgency into your courses or programs The value of having one core offer for your business An example of a typical marketing cycle when sprinting and resting  The value of going for the same goal multiple times, until it becomes easy  What to take into consideration before establishing an alumnae membership Non-traditional advice on whether or not you should discount services for repeat clients How to handle negative opinions from others when you make changes in your business Samantha Hoilett is a Launch Copywriter and Messaging Strategist for personal brands and small businesses. EP. 16 Your Productivity Power Zone

As a Procrastination Coach, people bring tons of issues to me: Half-finished projects, clutter, punctuality, procrastination, struggling to focus, and so much more.  One day, I realized that every single one of these issues boils down to one or more of just 4 things: Time: Understanding and liking where your time goes Focus: Your ability to tune out distractions, minimize interruptions, and go heads down on one specific thing for 60-90 minutes at a time  Priorities: Identifying what your priorities are, liking those priorities, and acting accordingly Commitment: Your ability to overcome obstacles all the way to your desired results Together, these 4 elements make up your Productivity Power Zone. And when you can figure out how to maximize your unique Productivity Power Zone, your business becomes more effective, and way more fun.  Listen in as I walk you through each of these 4 areas and give you solutions for improving your relationship with each one.  And if you’d like me to run you through a Productivity Power Zone assessment, be sure to book a 45-minute, 1:1 consult with me below.    RESOURCES MENTIONED: Half-Finished to Done, LIVE consult, where we run you through a Productivity Power Zone Assessment   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Life Coach for Procrastinating Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

EP. 13 Self-Image: From Procrastinator to Project Finisher with Elyse Conroy

In this episode, we are talking about confident self-image, specifically what this looks like in your life and in your business.  Your self-image is what you think about yourself and what you tell yourself about what and who you are. Self-image is important because how we think about ourselves affects how we feel about ourselves and how we interact with others and the world around us.   In other words, what you believe as the truth is going to influence every aspect of every result that you create in your life without you even realizing it. So if you consider yourself a procrastinator, chances are you will remain so until your self-image changes.  How can you change your self-image? I’m glad you asked! Our guest today is Elyse Conroy and she will share exactly how you can build a strong self-image. Elyse helps high-performing, ambitious women become unapologetically confident in both life & business by teaching them how to see beyond their limits & create confidence on demand. EP. 07 Moving Past Procrastination as a Coping Mechanism

Bold claim: All self-proclaimed procrastinators fundamentally crave success and fear failure. There are two catches here: We also fear success…and success is predicated on failure.  So we’re simultaneously craving and fearing success, while also fearing failure—which leaves us in a bit of a pickle.  What’s actually happened is that over time, we've developed a series of coping mechanisms with our behavior that protect us. This includes procrastination.  This episode will help you work through releasing some of these coping mechanisms in order to have more success with your projects. What’s inside the episode: Examples of the most common ways that we use procrastination as a coping mechanism How to identify your unique forms of procrastination How to completely reframe your relationship to both failure and success   LET'S GET SOCIAL — Cristina Roman, Life Coach for Procrastinating Business Owners Instagram: @piquecoaching Facebook: @piquecoaching TikTok: @piquecoaching Email: hello@piquecoaching.co Website: https://www.piquecoaching.co

Thinking about projects that we leave half-finished often evokes feelings of self-judgment, self-criticism, guilt, shame, embarrassment, or other negative emotions.   I want to introduce you to a different way to approach this.
