This week is a lil recap of our two week trip starting in Naples. After getting a car too big for the neighborhood of our B&B, we had to switch hotels which was LOL. I’ve wanted to have Richard on the podcast since its genesis but was always too nervous to ask. I found out about the program from Instagram, after asking my audience how I can get involved in the foster care community. They work on building trusting relationships within their community of peers and adults who have experienced similar traumas, so they can reduce the likelihood of being re-traumatized, especially by adults who are not equipped to deal with the extreme behaviors and actions of a child who does not trust.  The youth learn to take ownership of their history which empowers them to determine its impact on their lives. Sarah Yeomans is an archaeologist specializing in the Imperial period of the Roman Empire with a particular emphasis on ancient science and religion. We often hear inspirational stories, but Suzy Batiz, the founder and CEO of Poo~Pourri and Supernatural, really takes the damn cake. Although she recently tied the Forbes list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with Reece Witherspoon, Suzy’s journey to success was a god damn battle. Suzy grew up in poverty, surviving childhood sexual and domestic abuse, two bankruptcies, three divorces and severe depression. She sold exercise equipment, opened a clothing store, a tanning salon, a beauty salon, sold lingerie, bought homes, sold homes and at certain points, became homeless. She was so focused on money solving her problems that she lost herself. Her “AH HA” moment came after reading Byron Katie’s Loving What Is, at which point she dropped everything and attended her 10-day seminar. Five years later, after filing for bankruptcy for a second time at 38, Suzy sold her first bottle of Poo~Pourri. I have been buzzing since we had this conversation and I am so lucky to share this story with you.
