Bishestha Shrestha is the co founder of Gyanbodh Research and Development services. She is a gender studies specialist with experience of working in this sector for almost 6/7 years. She’s also a PhD candidate and is currently affiliated with Daayitwa as a Project Manager.
We connected with Bishestha Shrestha to explore the topic of sexual abuse and assault. Why some people come forward with their story while others don’t.
As we got to know her and all of her contributions in the subject of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, she opened up about her own story of sexual abuse at the age of 4.
Getting to know her story and what she went through gave us a clear idea of what it means to a survivor when they go through sexual abuse and the impact it has on them. If anything, this episode has helped us realize the importance of empathy and compassion. We hope it holds true to all our viewers and listeners as well.
Here’s to Bishesta di, for coming forward with your story and reclaiming your power! We admire you and thank you for trusting us enough to share your story for the very first time on a public platform

This episode we wanted to have a casual conversation with Himal dai since most of the topics we cover with him makes you think for days! But here we are still talking about the economy, climate change and nepalese society.✌😅
However, we still managed to mull over "Bada Dashain" (which we initially planned to talk about to keep alive the festive mood 🤭). We traced back the history of dashain, the delicious delicacies and all the good stuff that comes along with the 15-day long festival! We further pondered upon why we still practice some of the age-old practices and if at all these traditions are relatable today 🤭🤷♀️
Do you agree to any of the opinions we had 😜

Dhikichyau the Podcast #35 | On coping w/ grief and loss | Mitsushi Shahi |
They say death is the "ultimate" truth, yet when we have to deal with the loss of a loved one, most of us find ourselves unprepared and confused. But why do we fear talking about the only thing that is certain in life?
This episode we let our guards down and talked about some heavy chapters of our lives knowing most (if not all) of our audience can relate with it in some way or the other. And to accompany us, we had Mitsushi Shahi, a talented aspiring musician and a very good friend who was kind enough to share his experience and listen to some of ours! We really hope you guys could relate to some bits of today's podcast and we'd love to hear from you in the comments!

Dhikichyau the Podcast #34 | Astrology, MBTI, Enneagram: To believe or not to believe? |
Astrology, MBTI personality test and Enneagram are not at all scientific! But the number of people who believe in these narratives are just mind-boggling.🤯
Some people find solace in dwelling on these quizzes that help them better understand themselves and they love it when these charts predict their future! Some companies also use them to recruit employees! 😮
But others argue that though these tests might explain some theories, they have no scientific validity 🤷♀️
Given all of this information, do we believe in them or stay away?
In this episode, we had a casual conversation on all of these three narratives and shared our personal experiences with them!

Dhikichyau The Podcast #28 | Why Policies Fail In Nepal! | Ankshita Chaudhary |
In each episode of the "Let's talk economy!" series, we kept coming back to the concept of Policy Making. So we decided, why not dive a little deeper? And to help us better understand the concept, we had an elaborate and a fun filled conversation with Ankshita Di!
She is pursuing her Masters in Local Economic Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to this, she worked for Samriddhi Foundation - an independent public policy think tank in Nepal - wherein she handled a dual portfolio as a Research and Communications Officer. She regularly wrote op-eds and produced researches/policy briefs that promoted alternative outlooks on contemporary political-economic debates in Nepal. Her interests lie in the area of regional development, inclusive growth and entrepreneurship.
This episode is all about what Policy Making is, why it's so important, and also, how these same Policies keep failing in Nepal!

Circular Economy has resurfaced over the years as a disruptive concept to reduce waste, improve resource productivity, and better manage resource scarcity. To shed some more light on this topic we had a conversation with Sadikchya Singh!
She is the coordinator of Himalayan Circular Economy Forum (HiCEF), a NEF initiative to explore the concept of circular economy and contribute in paving a path towards sustainable societies in Nepal. In her role as the coordinator, she has worked with sustainable and circular businesses, experts and practitioners all over Nepal and is currently leveraging the platform to analyze the current state and find improvement potentials with regard to inefficiencies in the country's waste management sector.
With her we discussed the concept of Liner Economy before diving into why it's problematic and why Circular Economy can be a better alternative. She also shed some light on the common misconceptions people have regarding Circular Economy to help us better understand this concept. And we asked her if the idea of Circular Economy is far fetched 🤭🤭

You've probably heard "change is the only constant", but Nepal went ahead and redefined that to "uncertainty in Nepali politics is the only constant"
Being trapped indoors doesn't leave us much option than to ponder upon the current issues
and who better to discuss all of this if not Himal Gautam?
So here's Constructive Cynicism Continued where we discuss the political and economic grounds of Nepal.
Holla at us in the comments section!

Dhikichyau The Podcast #25 | Nepali Economy : a Constructive Cynicism |
For the second episode of the "Let's talk economy!" series, we're diving a little deeper into Nepali Economy with Himal Gautam!
He's currently doing his PhD in Finance at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo. He takes deep interest in economics and public policy which is closely connected with his area of research. He has previously worked in different areas of marketing, such as research, technology, and events with companies such as Emazing, Rooster Logic, Think Fusion and Exploring Innovations to name a few.
This episode the dialogue was more around the economy of Nepal post Pandemic and how it continues to struggle with an even tighter grip of the second wave. Our dialogue goes on about how the government continues to neglect the situation and to top it off the culture engraved in the Nepali DNA that has got us to where we are today. It might sound a little harsh for some, but we'd like to put it forward as a constructive cynicism that needs to be heard!
Let us know if you guys agree with us on this!

Dhikichyau the Podcast #24| Let's talk economy! |
A lot of us might frown upon the term "Economics"
But in the light of Covid-19, we see how the economy hits us in our daily lives. From mass unemployment to our favorite local restaurants shutting down, from the WFH culture to the plummeting tourism. It just might be more evident how we're all so inter-related with the economy!
So we bring to you our latest series: Let's talk economy! where we talk about Nepali economy, the good, the bad, and everything in between!
For the very first episode, we're referring to Sujeev Shakya's book "Unleashing The Vajra". This easy-to-digest book (despite its intimidating size) is a good place to start if you want to dive into the world of Nepali Economy!
Here, we talk about how our social structure and the past historical events have contributed to the current economy that we're living in!
Join us in the conversation and let us know what your thought are in the comments below!

Isn't it funny how when we think of Gender Inequality, it's mostly women we focus on. Women empowerment? Women's Rights? Women's education?
And in no way are we trying to steer the conversation away from it, because it deserves the spotlight it's getting and it needs even more of it for that matter.
But for once we want to speak out to all men out there who are our allies!
Because to bridge gender inequality, we all need to work hand in hand, and YES, it does include Men!
So for this week's episode, we dwelled into Toxic Masculinity and men's role in bridging Gender Inequality.

Why do so many Rape cases go unreported in Nepal? Even if they do get heard, what are the chances the Rape Survivor get Justice? Do we blame the Rapist? do they deserve Capital Punishment? or is the Law responsible for the ongoing impunity in these cases? She was also the Chevening Scholar from the University of Essex where she did her LL.M. majoring in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
