Episode 215 - Black and Gold Left Seeing Red After 2-1 Loss to Dallas

LAFC heads to Texas for the final time in 2022, and all we can say here on Episode 215 is good riddance! Ryan Hollingshead sees red during the match while LAFC and their supporters are left seeing red after. LAFC loses a tough one the hard way, 2-1, behind a brace from Jesus Ferreira and an awful day for Jon Freemon. Just eight minutes in, LAFC would already be dealt a body blow, as Chiqui was shown a very questionable yellow, meaning he will miss our next match, a tilt in just three days against Minnesota. Compounding LAFC's issues, just 5 minutes later Ryan Hollingshead would be booked a straight red after VAR allowed Jon Freemon, head referee, to amend his previous bad call of a yellow to an even worse one. LAFC would play down a man for the remainder of the match. Right before the halftime whistle, Maxime Crepeau would make a Save of the Week candidate on Edwin Cerrillo, and just seconds before the whistle, Giorgio Chiellini would find Chicho over the top, and Arango chips the keeper to improbably put LAFC up 1-0 heading into the locker room. LAFC dodged a bullet early in the second half and looked to hold on, which they did for 77 full minutes. In the 78', after a lack of focus on a quick restart, Paul Arriola finds Jesus Ferreira to equalize. Just three minutes later, Ferreira would bury a free kick, and just like that, all of LAFC's incredible defensive efforts down a man went for naught. Ugh. Another frustrating LAFC loss, and this one may have topped them all. Also on this episode, we are just plain upset. Filly gets bleeped, Scarf gets a stadium PA job, and the boys chat about diapers, but not in a gross way. This one was a rough pill to swallow, but enjoy Episode 215.

Episode 190 - Good Things Come to Those Who Sub In Late

Week 9 of the MLS season is upon us, and a familiar face pays a visit to the Banc. Tyler Miller, no longer the starter, and his Minnesota United FC join us for Sunday services at the Cathedral of the Black and Gold. As the Loons would soon find out, good things come to those who sub in late! LAFC win an exciting affair, 2-0, behind two more goals from substitutes and staunch back line play. Looking to continue the weekend-long party that ACFC kicked off on Friday, LAFC forced several tough saves from the former Forward Madison 'Mingo, Dayne St. Clair in the first half, but the best chance of the first 45' came from Finnish forward Robin Lod. Crepeau made his only save of the half (and the match), and we head to the locker 0-0. Just past the hour mark, Dolo called on his bench to provide the heroics, as he inserted Moose and Cifu into the drama for Latif and Mahala. Ten minutes later, Ryan Hollingshead came on, and the chess match was almost complete. In the 82nd minute, Hollingshead gets on the end of a cross and a deflection for his third of the season to put LAFC up one. In the 90th, Cifu clips the Loons' wings, as Chiqui receives an unreal pass from Pancho before finding his fellow countryman to put LAFC up, up, and away, 2-0. Also on this episode, Filly has the hiccups. And heartburn. And a little indigestion. But really, you could barely tell. The boys cross off a huge bucket list item as well as another 14+ hour day at the Banc, LAFC kicks off AAPI Heritage Month, and Kevin Baxter remains silent. We're just 10 episodes away from our second century, and we couldn't have gotten this close without all the support from the millions who are a part of Defenders Nation! Thank you, and see you in just a week or so for Episode 191!
