About
Are you reaching your potential as being the best man, husband, and father you can be for your family? Are you the man, husband, and father they deserve? Here at Dad the Man our mission is to inspire men to be the best version of themselves so that we can show up as the best men, husbands, and fathers for ourselves and our families, and provide the resources to do so. At Dad the Man we interview the guys we all know and admire professionally, but more importantly, are setting the tone for what a great man, husband, and father looks like. Guys who seize the opportunity before them to love and lead their families from the front, from a place of opportunity not obligation. This is Dad the Man. This is who we all aspire to become, and we are doing this together. Every single week, you can expect to hear from household names like Collin Crane, Sean Lowe, Anders Varner, Adam Hensley, and other men who fit the bill as Dad the Man. As men, husbands, and fathers, we experience and struggle with so many of the same things, and it's time we recognize that we are all in this together. If you are looking for more purpose, passion, connection, success, and camaraderie in your life, then you are in the right place. Welcome to Dad the Man.

In fact, The Neighbors actually just released their ninth album, called Strangers No More (LINKED HERE). Drew is a Tennessee man - born in Memphis, went to school at Univ of Tennessee in Knoxville, and now lives in Nashville with his wife Ellie, who is also a well-known, talented musician, and his three kiddos, Emmylou, Huck, and Rivers. He also started a really incredible music festival in my home town of Chattanooga called Moon River. People come from all over for that one they get amazing acts to come play. It is really well done. Drew's humor is dry and direct, which made this conversation a lot of fun. He's honest and unafraid to tell it like it is. The back half of this conversation is especially great. We talk about living in community, why our job as parents is not to entertain our kids, and Drew gives his take on vulnerability as well as some other unsolicited advice. Above it all, Drew is an incredible man, husband, and father, and it was an honor to host him on the showDISCUSSION POINTSDrew lays the current landscape of his family lifeTraveling on the road with kidsBeing a famous dadWhen not to interrupt a famous personWho is Drew Holcomb as a dad?Balancing affection and high expectationsWeird punishments for kidsNot being afraid to be the tough parentBringing kids into your worldIt’s not our job to entertain our kidsHow to approach bedtimeThe significance of living in community with others, especially as dadsThoughts on vulnerabilityYou’re not the only one experiencing your problemsUnsolicited adviceLINKSDrew Holcomb and the Neighbors - new album!

118 | DANIEL CARLSON - Kicking in the NFL with Kids, Leading a Family Through Faith, and the Real Goal of Raising Kids

Daniel Carlson is the starting kicker for the Las Vegas Raiders. Daniel kicked at my alma matter, Auburn University for four straight years, where he had a tremendous career and became the SEC's all time leading scorer. He was selected in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2018 NFL draft, but after a rough game  in Minnesota, Carlson was cut and was picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders where he's been ever since. He has been the NFL's leading scorer In two of the last three seasons, and just last year he signed a big contract extension locking him in with the Raiders for the next four years. I really enjoyed hearing his perspective on the uncertain times in his career as a newly married man and the significance of the stability provided by a four year contract as a father of one with number two on the way. As an Auburn guy I've rooted for Daniel throughout his entire career, and after getting to chat with him it only reinforced my perception of him as a strong, humble dude with a calm confidence about him. There is nothing to not like about this guy. On the field he has ice in his veins. He's as clutch as they come. Off the field he lives a life deeply rooted in faith and devoted to his young and growing family. But above it all he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I'm pumped I had the opportunity to chat with him.DISCUSSION POINTSChildhood in Colorado Springs, CORaised by Alabama fans, played at AuburnSpent one year of his childhood in SwedenHow Daniel got into playing footballThe marriage fast trackUncertainty after getting cutStability of a four year contract as a younger dadPlaying in the NFL with a newborn baby at homeGame winning field goal --> birth of first babyCompartmentalizing kicking in the NFL vs home lifeBringing in baby number twoBest marriage advice from DCWhat Daniel struggles withWhat Daniel is the most proud ofWhat Daniel wants his legacy to be with his kidsLINKSIG: @danielcarlson38

115 | DR JOHN DELONEY - Dad Guilt, Why Dudes Need Friends, and It's Okay If You Think Parenting Is Boring

Dr. John Delony is a mental health expert with two PhDs in counselor education and supervision and higher education administration. Before joining Ramsey Solutions in 2020, John worked as a senior leader, professor, and researcher at multiple universities. He spent two decades in crisis response, walking with people through severe trauma. Now as a Ramsey Personality, he teaches on relationships, mental health, and wellness as the host of his caller-driven radio show the Dr. John Delony show. John is the author of Redefining Anxiety which I highly recommend as a quick and impactful read for anyone who has experienced anxiety. Today is also a BIG day for John because it's officially release day for his second book titled "Own Your Past, Change Your Future." In our conversation today I misread the title of his book which is pretty embarrassing but thankfully John was super cool about it. But I definitely want to suggest checking out the book, by the time this airs I will have already snagged my copy for sure. John is one of the guys I lean on regularly in my own life. 112 | JASON KHALIPA - Optimizing time as a busy dad, Teaching kids to chase their dreams, and Navigating your child's battle with cancer

Jason is an American former Crossfit Games athlete, who made 8 consecutive appearances and the games and is known for his win as the 2008 CrossFit Games champions and other notable finishes in second place in 2013 and third place in 2014. He also won the Spirit of the Games award in 2009, which is an award given to the CrossFit gamesathlete who exemplifies extraordinary character and inspires those watching to face their biggest challenges with resilience, grace, and kindness. In 2016, Jason's daughter Ava was diagnosed with Luekemia which led him to stepping away from competing in the games. Since his days competing in the CrossFit Games, Jason has spent his professional time building his fitness business, NCFit Gyms and the NCFit Collective. He is also the host of his own wildly popular podcast call Effort Over Everything. Jason is also known for the book he wrote titled "As Many Reps as Possible." This book serves as a framework to being more present, living more intentionally, and accomplishing more in life. Not in a hypothetical, mushy way, but in a practical, real way. "As Many Reps as Possible" or "AMRAP" in the CrossFit community is an approach I've adopted in my own life and in today's conversation we talk a lot about how to apply this framework in our roles as leaders of our families. Jason is a hyper present, hyper focused guy, and after speaking with him, its no surprise to me that he was able earn the fittest man on earth while also accomplishing what he's accomplished in business so far all while keeping his family as his number one priority. Above it all, Jason is an incredible man, husband, and father.Discussion PointsJason talks about his childhoodHow Jason got into fitnessFamily support in starting his first Crossfit gymTeaching our kids to chase their dreamsFostering our kids interestsOptimizing timeStepping away from CrossfitJason reflects on his daughter battling leukemiaThe importance of communicationThe importance of date nightPerspective changes after daughter's battle with leukemiaPerspective from real pain and sufferingThe AMRAP Mentality framework for lifeFinding your whyMicro checkinsFocus on what you can controlHard workChanging gearsDetrimental impacts of social mediaMacro check insWhat Jason struggles withWhat Jason wants his kids to remember about himLinksnc.fit@jasonkhalipa on Instagram

109 | ROBB WOLF - Simple Rules for Family Nutrition, Courage to Stand for Your Beliefs, and Your Obligation as a Parent to Provide Healthy Food Options

Robb Wolf is a former research biochemist and is the 2x NYT bestselling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired to Eat. Robb has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world via is top ranked podcast called The Healthy Rebellion, books, seminars, and products. Robb has functioned as a review editor for the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism and as a consultant for the Naval Special Warfare Resiliency Program, and he serves on the board of directors of many innovative start ups with a focus on health and sustainability. Along with being a true pioneer in both the Crossfit and Paleo movements, Robb holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and is a former California state powerlifting champion. Robb has provided seminars in nutrition and strength & conditioning to a number of big time entities including NASA, Naval Special Warfare, the Canadian Light Infantry, and the United States Marine Corps. More recently, Robb wrote a book titled Sacred Cow which also was produced as a documentary which you've probably seen advertised on Netflix. Robb is also the cofounder of the exploding electrolyte brand called LMNT, which I absolutely love. When I originally scheduled my conversation with Robb, he sent me a huge box of LMNT which I thought was such a cool gesture, and after drinking it for a few days Im now absolutely hooked. I have no affiliation with LMNT and get no kickback from them and I'm very hesitant to suggest or recommend supplements, but LMNT is one that I really love and has become a staple in my daily routine. And if you don't know Robb from any of the things I've already mentioned, then maybe you recognize him as a former guest on ultra popular podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience, Ben Greenfield Fitness, Cleared Hot, Mark Bells Power Project, The Doctors Pharmacy, and many many more. If you can't tell, Robb is a guy who does a lot. He's brilliant, articulate, and unapologetically rational, refusing to let politics or other ulterior motives manipulate his conclusions but above it all Robb is an incredible man, husband, and father, and I am so excited to share this conversation with him.Discussion PointsWhat in the world does Robb Wolf do?How Robb became the defender of all things meatThe sustainability argument for meat consumptionWhy Robb is so passionate about defending meat consumptionResponsibility of parents to serve their kids nutritional foodsSimple rules for family nutritionLong term effects of bad nutrition in kidsProviding good nutritional options for kidsHow to shop at the grocery storeIs organic meat worth it??What Robb is the most proud ofWhat Robb struggles with personallyWhat Robb wants his legacy to be with his kidsLinkswww.robbwolf.comwww.drinklmnt.com

JOIN THE DAD THE MAN FACEBOOK GROUP --> CLICK HERE <-- or visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/dadthemanBrian Nabavi is best known as an entrepreneur. He is the founder the Til You Collapse clothing brand. He is the host of the Til You Collapse podcast. He is a mindset, business, and fitness coach, and he does a lot more in business as well. I know he also has a successful CBD brand and is an investor in multiple businesses as well. All of the success he's achieved comes as an extension of being a great husband and dad at home, and he is known by his peers as such. I really enjoy following Brian because of this. He has the business, the success, the cars.. He has all that, but when you listen to him speak, it's apparent that its his family that he's the most proud of. One other thing that I really appreciate about Brian is something that he's actually known for on social media and that is, what has now become a slogan for him, and that is "put your cart back." If you follow him on social media then you know he's always preaching about being a decent human being and putting your shopping cart back when you're done with it. I love this, and I'll echo that message all day long. Put your cart back guys! Be a decent human - come on! Brian is a great dude, and it was really cool to mix it up with him here. 103 | STEVE ECKERT - How to Create Your Ideal Life for You & Your Family, Manufactured Adversity for Kids, How to Make Time for Your Family, and Building Your Next Big Thing

Today's guest is Steve Eckert. Steve is a husband, a dad, a marine, an entrepreneur, and a performance coach among other things. You probably recognize Steve from the clips of him coaching his clients. He has a no nonsense, in your face style, and he isn't afraid to lean into his experience with the Marines in training he clients. This episode has some heavy language in it. This is not the episode to listen to with your kids in the car - just wanted to make sure to mention that. Steve is an example of a guy who lived a problematic childhood and is now hellbent on changing the trajectory of his family lineage. One thing I really appreciate about Steve is how intentional he is with his time. In our conversation we talked about how he plans and schedules to make sure he has the right symmetry, as he calls it, in his life. I also want to note that in this conversation Steve mentions an upcoming challenge that he is doing with his family for the Save Our Allies Foundation, which is headed up by previous guest of the show Tim Kennedy. This is a 24 hour fitness challenge that is upcoming on March 25th, I've posted a link in the show notes for anyone who wants to join and contribute to raising funds for the Save Our Allies Foundation. This conversation is direct, it's honest, and its loaded with takeaways that you can use today to be a better man, husband, and father. Huge shoutout to Steve for making the time to join us today.DISCUSSION POINTSReflecting on an abusive childhoodBuilding confidenceBreaking the cycleOur kids raise us “My kids are my mentors”Are you doing it for your kids or for you? What’s your ideal lifestyle? 097 | KEN RIDEOUT - Raising courageous kids, Mental health, Adoption, and Giving your family the best version of yourself

JOIN THE DAD THE MAN FACEBOOK GROUP --> CLICK HERE <-- or visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/dadthemanToday's guest is none other than Ken Rideout. Ken Rideout has an unbelievable story including a chaotic childhood, working summers as a prison guard, and drug addiction. Through it all, he managed to work his way onto a trading desk on Wall Street where his professional career began and now he has shaped himself into a world class marathon runner. He was actually deemed "World's Best Marathoner over 50" by the NY Times. Ken is a non nonsense, salt of the earth, would do anything for anybody type of guy who leads from the front in every way, every day. Before Ken and I spoke, I felt deeply drawn to him and his story for a few reasons 1) He adopted his oldest daughter and for those of you who may not have followed along here my wife and I recently adopted newborn twins. It was great getting to connect on that experience. 2) In Ken's Wall Street days, he worked for a company called Cantor Fitzgerald Cantor Fitzgeralds headquarters was located in the World Trade center. Ken happened to be in London on September 11, 2001, but he lived through the experience of losing many of his friends and colleagues to the tragedy. My uncle, my dad's younger brother, Glen Wall, also worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. On 9/11 he was at work on the 105th floor of tower 1 and unfortunately did not survive. As you can imagine, 9/11 is a big deal in my family and getting to speak to someone who was basically there for it was a unique experience for me. We spoke at length today about the importance of managing our mental health through physical exercise, and how there's absolutely no excuse not to make time to exercise. We also talked about holding our kids accountable and Ken breaks down the values that he focuses on the most with his four kids. Above it all, Ken is an incredible man, husband, and father, and it was an honor to host him on the show.DISCUSSION POINTSCaring for your own mental healthTreating yourself like someone you’re responsible forMental health and runningLiving a life of serviceIf you aren’t the best version of yourself you’re cheating those around youSeasons in lifeInternational adoptionYou’re only as happy as your saddest kidSupporting your kids emotionally Kindness, confidence, and effortRaising confident kidsAddressing fear with your kidsApologizing to your kidsWhat Ken is the most proud ofWhat Ken wants his legacy to be with his kidsLINKSwww.rideoutstrong.comInstagram: @ken_rideout

But after making several key decisions in his life, to be honest with himself about his actions, he started to see incredible change. Now, his passion in life is helping other men do the same. Kyle is a monster physically and is in ridiculous shape. I would say that he and I have very different communication styles but it was cool to see how we could come from different place with different communication styles and land in the same place. Off air, I really enjoyed getting to hear Kyle talk about his mission and how he continues to push and grow to help as many people as he possible can. He even mentioned a few stories about people he's helped through his coaching back down from the brink of suicide. If there's anything I can tell you about Kyle.. its that he cares. He cares about being the best he can be and he cares about helping other do the same. He's a man on a mission that I greatly respect. Shane has traveled the world, chasing the biggest swells and pushing the limits of what's possible on a surfboard, but as we talk about today It sounds like being a great dad and husband Is the biggest adventure yet. We get into a lot of good stuff today.. we get in pretty deep early on talking about spanking. Shane talks about why he did with his kids and how he approached it, and I chat about why I've chosen not to, and the real reason for that. We talk about letting our kids choose their own paths, and not projecting our own visions for them onto them, and how insanely hard it is to be rational when our kids are competing. We talk about paying attention to how we respond in moments of anger and frustration, and how important it is to model the behaviors we want our kids to learn. I enjoyed this conversation so much. I really love getting to talk to guys like Shane who's kids are a little older, so he's got some real dad mileage under his belt. Shane is such a good dude, its no surprise to me now after getting to kick it with him why he was recommended as a "must get" guest for the show from a previous guest of the show. JOIN THE DAD THE MAN FACEBOOK GROUP --> CLICK HERE <-- or visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/dadthemanUnless you live under a rock, and have for the past decade or so, then you know that Jordan Spieth is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour, and at just 29 years old he's a perennial contender for best in the world. So far he's amassed 13 PGA Tour victories, with 3 major wins, including the US Open and Masters in 2015 and the British Open in 2017. In watching Jordan throughout his career, I've always been so impressed with his poise, especially for a dude so young. He seems to have struck a brilliant balance between an "i'm gonna kick your ass out here" level of confidence and a gracious humility that allows him to be radically objective in evaluating his own game and bouncing back from set backs. He's wise beyond his years for sure. He's such a good dude, down to earth - fun to hang with and I'm extremely thankful to him for making the time to come on the show to chat with us. I'll tell ya up front, we had a really great discussion today. This honestly is one of, if not my favorite conversation on the show so far. We covered a lot of ground - from how his own childhood and how he was raised - which he largely attributes to his success on the course, to gearing up for the 2023 golf season in an RV with his wife and son Sammy, to fighting with his ego and separating his own self worth from his golf performance. We talked about what it is that drives him to be the best golfer he can be, what he wants his legacy to be with his kids and so much more. Like I said, this was a fun one. We covered a lot of ground. We went deep. We laughed, and I walked away with a few nuggets to carry with me as a husband and father. I hope you guys enjoy this conversation as much as I did.

040 HUNTER HENRY - NE Patriots Tight End

Hunter is a standout tight end in the NFL for the New England Patriots. Before making it to the league Hunter played college ball at the University of Arkansas. From there he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, where he was able to share a locker room with legends like Phil Rivers and Antonio Gates. After five seasons in San Diego, Hunter signed with the Patriots and had a strong first season in Foxborough in 2021. Hunter was a fun guy to talk to. Lighthearted and easy to hang with but also serious and reflective about what matters most to him. I don't know if I can pull for the Patriots, but I'll be rooting for this guy on Sundays this fall. To put it simply, this bet on himself paid off, as his company has scaled like crazy since then and has become a powerhouse in the real estate world And on top of his primary real estate business, Carlos also runs 31 other businesses, with 10 of those 31 gross over 7 figures per year. 032 DANIEL CARLSON - Las Vegas Raiders

But above it all he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I'm pumped I had the opportunity to chat with him.DISCUSSION POINTSChildhood in Colorado Springs, CORaised by Alabama fans, played at AuburnSpent one year of his childhood in SwedenHow Daniel got into playing footballThe marriage fast trackUncertainty after getting cutStability of a four year contract as a younger dadPlaying in the NFL with a newborn baby at homeGame winning field goal --> birth of first babyCompartmentalizing kicking in the NFL vs home lifeBringing in baby number twoBest marriage advice from DCWhat Daniel struggles withWhat Daniel is the most proud of What Daniel wants his legacy to be with his kidsLINKSIG: @danielcarlson38

026 ERIC DECKER - former NFL Wide Receiver

Eric is a former standout NFL wide receiver who played 8 seasons in the league with the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, and New York Jets, he was part of the historic record setting 2013 Broncos offense lead by quarterback Peyton Manning, and later ended his career with a short stint, as he calls it, his "cup of coffee in New England" for a few weeks of training with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick before ultimately making the decision to retire from the game and step headfirst into the next chapter of his life as a focused and present father. Eric now lives in Nashville TN with wife Jessie James Decker, who you probably know as famous country music star and founder of the exploding Kittenish apparel company. Eric serves as the president of Kittenish. Today he talks about how he's been able to find both competition and camaraderie in the world of business which he mentions has been huge for him in his transition away from football. One thing I really respect about Eric, and I didn't even know this our conversation, is that a big part of the reason he retired from football was so that he could show up as the husband and father that his young family needed at the time. I have so much respect for a guy who in the midst of an NFL career on the line was able to keep his top priorities in order and make a difficult decision with confidence. Eric a humble, down to earth dude, and a guy I always enjoyed rooting for in the league, partly because he was on my fantasy team a lot of the time. From the age of 11, Josh dedicated a large portion of of his time to mastering the craft of knife making. He worked a full time "day job" for many years in an effort to provide a stable income and living to support and very intentionally raise his four kids, before quitting to start the now exploding Montana Knife Company. One thing I really appreciate about Josh is his commitment to his family and his intentionality as a father. A man of old school character, he is always working to do right by others and is the kind of guy that deserves the benefit of the doubt. Cal Callahan is a retired trader,  host of The Great Unlearn podcast , and runs Unlearn Ventures, which is an investment fund and incubator for forward-thinking projects. The product of a hard charging father, Cal was supplied with the tools necessary to perform well in school and even better professionally as a trader. It wasn't until after facing a life altering experience at the Route 91 mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017 that Cal began his mission of Unlearning and questioning everything and consciously deciding how he wanted to live the rest of his life. He then left the big city  trading lifestyle in Chicago at the age of 41 and moved his family down to Austin, Texas, where they live today. I'll mention this again later when I'm talking with Cal, but the thing I appreciate most about him is the curiosity he brings to the table. He's always down to truly consider the ideas that challenge his beliefs, which I believe is a prerequisite for true growth and a quality we're sorely missing in the world today. Above it all, he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I am super excited to share this conversation with you guys.Discussion PointsCal describes his childhoodEarning his father's love as a child and younger adultHolding space to handle anything our kids doHow being at the Route 91 mass shooting changed his lifeExplaining what Unlearning meansUnlearning in marriageWhere we need to fight the urge to fix things Dealing with shame as we grow and learn new thingsBalancing everything going on in lifeNot robbing our kids of living their own experiencesShowing up for our kids in the way that they need usWhat Cal wants his legacy to be with his kidsLinksThe Great Unlearn Podcast: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/Instagram: @cal.callahan

012 MARK RICHT, the Legendary College Football Coach

Today's guest is none other than Coach Mark Richt, or Poopah, as his grandkids call him. Coach Richt played quarterback at the University of Miami and threw his hat in the ring for the NFL before turning his sights towards coaching college football. The day before leaving to begin his coaching career as a GA down in Baton Rouge, he received a phone call and a job offer from the late Bobby Bowden, which he accepted. Mark refers to this pivotal moment as a "spiritual marker" in his life, as it was Coach Bowden who raised him as a young quarterbacks coach, molder of young men, and most importantly brought him to faith in Jesus Christ. Mark met his wife of 34 years, Katharyn, while he was a GA in Tallahassee and she was a cheerleader. Mark went on to be the OC at East Carolina for one season before returning to Florida State to serve as QB coach for three years and then being promoted to offensive coordinator. In his ten year run at Florida State he coached two Heisman Trophy winning QBs, won seven consecutive ACC titles, and won two national championships. After ten years coaching the Seminoles, Mark took the head coaching job at the University of Georgia where he would lead the program for 15 years, win two SEC championships, and leave as the second winningest coach in program history. After leaving Georgia in 2015, he returned to his alma mater as the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes, where he won ACC Coach of the Year, and stoked a long awaited fire within the Miami program, donating $1 million of his own money to kickoff the fundraising for a $34 million dollar practice facility in Miami. Coach Richt made the call to retire after the 2018 season after suffering a near-fatal heart attack. He now works as an ACC Network college football studio analyst, and this fall he became an author upon the release of his new book "Make the Call," which is equal parts entertaining and insightful and i would recommend it to anyone. This past weekend, the University of Georgia held a half-time ceremony to honor Coach Richt and the legacy he left and the road he paved for future Bulldog success. One thing I appreciate most about Coach Richt is that he is a guy with his priorities in order and never shies away from his faith. Above it all, he is an incredible man, husband, and father and it is an absolute honor to host him on the show.Discussion PointsMark's new book "Make the Call"The book writing processThe impact that Coach Bobby Bowden had on Mark's lifeMark's story of coming to faith in Jesus ChristCoach tells the story of "the dog pile"Gratitude and the importance of stopping to appreciate the small winsWhat his players taught upDiscipline is a form of loveCoach's approach to work life balance as a college football coachThe role his wife played for their family during the coaching yearsThe importance of having one meal with the family each dayMarriage advice that has lead to 34 years of happy marriageMark's adoption storyMark talks about the grandpa lifeWhat Coach is the most proud of in his lifeCoach talks about legacy and what that word means to HimLINKSMake the Call by Mark Richt: https://www.bhpublishinggroup.com/makethecall/

Garage Gym Lab reviews gym equipment and produces some amazing content. It’s a really great mix of useful and relevant info and pure entertainment. As a home gym owner, I’ve followed Adam for several years now and it’s evident that his passion for the home gym life is heavily driven by not only having a convenient place to workout, but more importantly the opportunity it provides to presently lead his kids as a living example and raise them in a house where health and fitness is a priority. From the courage to quit his job and pursue his passion to his collection of barbells to the intention he gives to his family. In addition to his studio role on SEC Network, Burns has provided analysis as a course reporter on SEC Network’s live coverage of various sporting events, contributing to studio programming across all ESPN networks, including The Paul Finebaum Show, College Football Live and SportsCenter, and recently serving as a commentator on PGA Championship coverage on ESPN+. But above it all, he is an incredible man, husband, and father and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have him on the show.Overview of Discussion PointsBringing up the next generation of menLeading with love and leadership, not shameRyan Holiday - “Statue of Responsibility”Nate’s Childhood3rd of 6 childrenbrother Spencer has a very success sports podcast in UtahNate’s Dad, DaveNo tactic to intentionality, sincereWhat made him mad - entitlement, acting better thanParents did a great job on intentionally parenting in a privileged homeNate’s definition of successLiving up to dad’s level of successMarriagehow they metthe role she plays in the familyLesson from mother - “love is a verb”marriage advice - “go to bed angry”FatherhoodFavorite part of being a dad is witnessing his kids developDiscussion about not over programming kids and letting kids be kidsIntentionality of coaching character developmentBeing the person our kids see us asWhat Nate struggles withInferiority complexRelaxingSelf-talkWhat Nate wants his kids to remember about himWhere to follow:RhoneWebsite: www.rhone.comIG: @rhoneNateIG: @natecheckettsLinkedInReferencesRyan Holiday - Statue of Responsibility: https://ryanholiday.net/why-we-need-a-statue-of-responsibilitySpencer Checketts (Nate’s brother) radio show: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-drive-with-spence-checketts/id1476325554VestaBoard: www.vestaboard.comEveryMan: www.vestaboard.com
