Coming out of Lockdown

In this first AHUA members’ podcast, Niamh Lamond, Chief Operating Officer at Ulster University, Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Manchester, and Paula Sanderson, Registrar at SOAS are interviewed by Paul Greatrix, Registrar at the University of Nottingham, about the issues and challenges of dealing with C-19 and of coming out of lockdown. Paul explores with the group what they’ve learned about themselves while working from home, how they’ve found the experience more generally, both for themselves and their institutions, how confident they are about opening in a planned way, and how they envisage their teams working post pandemic. The group also considers the future of the sector and the role they would like to see government play in supporting HE both through the pandemic and beyond. Covering a wide range of issues, the interviewees throw light on the complexity of leading in uncertain times and their experiences – both positive and negative – of managing staff and students in a time of crisis.
