The Sugar Jar Podcast episodes will include conversations and stories from people all around the world sharing their healing journey. I’ll also have episodes where I share what I’m learning (or unlearning) around my self-healing journey.
Yasmine Cheyenne on Being Willing To Receive
There have been so many times when something good showed up in my life and I questioned it. Yet, when the bad things would show up, it was as if I expected it. Why are we wired this way and how can we shift it? In this episode, I talk about the limitations we place on ourselves and ask us to release the way we hold ourselves back by not letting the good in. It can be hard to admit that you're doing too much and need to slow down, especially when you think you've "healed" that part of you already. But recently I learned the power of having time when you don't have to do anything, and how redfining what "being off" means can truly free you. In this episode, I share my recent journey with learning to be off, and how it's taught me so many things about myself. I hope it inspires you to redefine what you need to as well. Yasmine Cheyenne on FOMO
Fear of missing out is real, and dealing with the disappointment that comes with it isn’t always easy. But if we’re saying yes out of fear and scarcity, then are we really in alignment? Or is the “yes” laced in fear of what we think may lose if we don’t? In this episode, we talk about how FOMO is draining our energy, and how boundaries help us maintain clarity on what really matters. Because we’re going to miss out sometimes, but I don’t believe we miss what’s really for us. Share with me, what are you learning about your yes? Yasmine Cheyenne on When The Problem Is You
It’s often very easy for us to see what we believe other people are doing “wrong” in their own lives. It’s also often clear what we like or don’t like about the people who are in our lives. It’s not often easy for us to admit when we are part of the problem in our relationships or in commitments. Why? Because truthfully, no matter how much healing you’ve done, no one enjoys admitting their faults. It’s tough (and brave) work! But there’s so much power in admitting where you need to shift, because you can’t control everyone else but you can control a lot of what you say, do, and commit to. Yasmine Cheyenne on Not Everyone Has To Like Us
It’s hard when people don’t like us, but one of the things that’s even tougher for us is deciding, consciously or unconsciously, that we can get them to like you. When we decide not to accept how people feel about us, based on their consistent actions, and take them on as a challenge, i.e. “I can get them to choose me” we sign ourselves up for an unhealthy relationship that lacks reciprocity and clarity. How can we learn to stop giving out energy to relationships that aren’t flourishing or blooming? How can we learn to focus on those who choose us instead of trying to convince others to be our friend, or partner, or insert here. In this episode, we’ll talk about how we can release this unhealthy pattern and move forward. Share with me, how are you learning to shift relationships or commitments where you know the connection isn’t mutual? Yasmine Cheyenne on Building Community
One of the most unexpected things that occurs on our healing journey is the shift in our community. We lose relationships we weren’t expecting to, we set boundaries we didn’t know we needed, and many of us feel called to build community by creating new relationships. But how do we deal with rejection? How do we cope with tough conversations? How do we learn to enjoy our new relationships without placing expectations on our friends that aren’t reasonable for both of us? In this episode, we talk about the emotions and experiences that can come up while building community on your healing journey. Yasmine Cheyenne on Deflated Hope
So many of us are in relationships and commitments where we know things aren’t a fit but we stay out of hope. And we don’t want to let go of our hope, because if we do, we’ll be left with the pain and disappointment of our reality. In this episode, I talk about the freedom, love, and acceptance that’s also possible when we’re honest about our reality. A HUGE part of calling our power back means being honest about what’s draining us. And holding on to relationships for what we believe they could be rather than being honest with ourselves about what they are is one of them. Yasmine Cheyenne on Filling Your Jar
When we make space for our healing, we usually say yes to it so that we can have more space for the things that bring us joy. And we often think about the many people or things in our lives that might distract us from our joy. But I want you to get curious about the ways that your jar isn’t full because you - yes you - might be the one in the way of the spaciousness you need? When we’re honest with ourselves, we can create change. When we behave like everything is okay, even when it’s not, we move through the world with that false reality and we make our decisions from that false narrative. In this episode, we’ll compassionately explore what gets in the way of your full jar and we’ll share ways you can begin to fill yourself up. The Sugar Jar Podcast - Yasmine Cheyenne To The Strong Ones
So many of us are self-proclaimed “Strong Ones.” Some of us have chosen this title because we hope it will help us stay safe. Some of us didn’t have a choice and were in circumstances growing up or at some point in our lives where it was clear that being unequivocally strong was the only way we'd survive. There’s been a lot of talk about “the strong ones” and checking on “your strong friends” but the truth is that all of us - every single one of us - has an area in our lives where we might feel like we have to be strong and that there’s no one who can support us in that area. And that self-perceived strength often keeps us from asking for help, it keeps us from receiving help, and it keeps us from support. In this episode, I walk through one of the tougher times in my life where my “strong one” facade was starting to crumble. I hope that this episode allows you to see that needing care is perfectly okay. It’s human. It’s beautiful. It’s freeing. And it’s how we call our power back. I want to hear from you, do you relate to being a strong one? Share your thoughts on this episode with me and tag me @yasminecheyenne on Instagram. My book, The Sugar Jar, is available for pre-order! Not only is it extremely vulnerable, but it reminds us that even when we try our best, things don’t always work out the way we hoped. But, what happens when we learn how to love ourselves through disappointment? We remember that we can make it through tough times. We remember that we can have access to our joy again.
