MARG is an indie pop artist whose influences draw from far and wide. Having lived in South Carolina, China, Argentina, California, and more, the Chinese-American artist has called different parts of the world home and has, naturally, been moved by the people she's met across the globe. MXMTOON Interview- coming out bisexual, ethnicity identity problems

On her debut album the masquerade, 19-year-old singer/songwriter mxmtoon delivers what she calls “rhyming diary entries”: an off-the-cuff account of her most private thoughts and feelings, straight from her brightly lit brain. With her disarming vocal presence and utter aversion to self- seriousness, the Oakland-based artist offers up songs like lead single “prom dress”: a layered meditation on expectation and disappointment, written after an In-N-Out Burger-induced panic attack. Revealing her rare ability to draw deep meaning from the most mundane moments, the masquerade expands on the powerfully resonant songwriting first shown on her debut EP plum blossom. And as she strengthens her remarkable bond with her audience, mxmtoon has made a point of using her ever-growing platform to speak out on issues like immigration and LGBTQ+ rights. Not only closely tied to her identity as a young bisexual woman of color, that unguarded honesty echoes a heartfelt mission of giving voice to those who often go unheard.Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpopCheck out Sidewalk Talk website:http://www.sidewalktalks.comFollow me, Lauren Engel: http://www.instagram.com/laurenvanengelhttp://www.twitter.com/engelauren Hosted on Acast. AUDIEN Interview-high and low points of career

Hailing from the unlikely location of Mystic, a small seaport town in Connecticut, Audien (born Nathaniel Rathbun, 1992) began producing music as a teenager and gradually took his piano-driven hands-in-the-air progressive trance sound to the top of the Billboard dance charts, selling out major venues and headlining numerous EDM festivals along the way. Rathbun started creating tracks in 2008, initially releasing happy hardcore on Only Vibes Recordings, a digital label he co-founded with producer Naggy. Rathbun switched to trance in 2009, sending a demo to Ferry Corsten, who released "Rise & Shine" on his Aleph Recordings imprint. Numerous singles followed on labels like Songbird, First State Music, Enhanced Progressive, and Perceptive Deep, and leading progressive house DJs such as Tiësto, Above & Beyond, and Armin van Buuren began to take notice of Audien's euphoric sound, leading to an opening slot for van Buuren at the Roseland in New York City in 2011. He released tracks on Anjunabeats and Trice Recordings in 2012, and toured the United States with Hardwell soon after. Releases on Zouk Recordings and Spinnin' Records followed, and in 2014 Rathbun remixed Michael Jackson's "Slave to the Rhythm" and Bastille's "Pompeii," the latter of which was heavily played at many clubs and festivals and was eventually nominated for a Grammy for "Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical." After completing his first headlining tour in 2015, Audien signed to Astralwerks. The label promptly released "Insomnia," which topped Billboard's dance music chart. This was followed by the release of "Something Better," a collaboration with country superstars Lady Antebellum. Three more major singles followed, "Crazy Love" (featuring Deb's Daughter) in 2016, "One More Weekend" (with MAX), and "Hot Water" with 3LAU in 2017. 2018 brought a pair of single for the Anjunabeats label starting with the Cecilia Gault collaboration, "Higher," followed by the Arty-assisted "Never Letting Go." Audien ended the year with the anthemic "Rollercoaster" which featured vocals by Liam O'Donnell. ~ Paul Simpson, RoviFollow Sidewalk Talk EDM:https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkedmhttps://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)Sidewalk POP Music channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC82a...https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpopSidewalk RAP/HIP HOP (Rhythm) Music channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDme...https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkrhythmCheck out Sidewalk Talk website: http://www.sidewalktalks.com Hosted on Acast. SUECO THE CHILD Interview- how he blew up on Tik Tok

Los Angeles talent Sueco the Child transitioned from beatmaker to rapper when his debut single, "Fast," went viral in the spring of 2019. Fueled by traction on the short-form video app Tik Tok, "Fast" became a social media moment unto itself, with fans creating millions of videos soundtracked by the irreverent and subtly humorous mid-tempo banger.Sueco the Child was born William Schultz in 1997. By his early twenties, he had become a music producer best known for videos centered around making beats from random or outlandish sound sources. Along with being a beatmaker, Sueco occasionally rapped on his productions. Early singles like 2018's "Henny in the Trunk" had an atmospheric character to compliment his mumbly flow. Sueco posted the far grimier "Fast" online in April 2019, and it almost instantly took off on social media platforms. The spike in attention led to a contract with Atlantic Records, and in June of that year a remix of the viral song surfaced with new verses from Offset and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. Hosted on Acast. KASKADE Interview- making EDM back in the day

Grammy-nominated electronic producer Kaskade emerged as one of the most successful American progressive house DJs of the 2000s, pioneering the concept of Las Vegas residencies and selling out arenas across America. With his bright, uplifting dance anthems, he was a steady presence on the U.S. electronic charts into the 2010s with Top Ten releases that included chart-toppers Fire & Ice (2011) and Atmosphere (2013).Born Ryan Gary Raddon in Chicago, he spent his early days not only as a DJ, but also as an A&R director and record store owner. In the late '90s, he familiarized himself with the rapidly changing electronic music scene, eventually finding that house music was the subgenre he loved best. He DJ'ed in both New York and Salt Lake City, where he would first produce tracks released on his own tiny label, Mechanized Records. He also sold his music to John Elkins, A&R director for OM Records, who later hired Raddon to assist him at the label. By night, Kaskade spun at local clubs and by day helped kick-start the careers of many artists, including Ming + FS and soul-house act Soulstice. His own full-length recordings under the Kaskade moniker began with 2003's house-inflected It's You, It's Me. A soulful, more organic direction provided focus for the following year's In the Moment, and Raddon kept his name in the record racks by piloting editions in the San Francisco Sessions DJ series (as well as the label mix House of OM). He proved surprisingly dedicated to his production craft, releasing Love Mysterious in 2006, which placed on Billboard's electronic albums chart. That same year, he parted ways with OM and signed with Ultra.Arriving in 2008, Strobelight Seduction -- featuring production by Deadmau5 -- became his biggest commercial success to date, buoyed by the lead single "Move for Me." Released in 2010, Dynasty celebrated his new reputation with a parade of vocal features and a co-production with Tiësto. It also became his first LP to chart on the Billboard 200. That year, Raddon put together Electric Daisy Carnival, a mix showcasing artists on the bill for the inaugural dance music festival of the same name. The double-album Fire & Ice followed in 2011 and debuted in the Billboard Top 20. Featuring a production assist from Skrillex on "Lick It," the effort also included guest vocals from Neon Trees and Skylar Grey. Atmosphere arrived two years later and featured softer, more relaxed music along with vocals from Kaskade himself. After the 2014 compilation I Remember rounded up the best material from his years on Ultra, the DJ renewed his contract with the label and one year later released Automatic. The album featured guest appearances from Estelle, Galantis, John Dahlbäck, and K. Flay, and peaked on the Billboard Electronic chart at number two. In 2016, Kaskade joined Deadmau5 and Skylar Grey on the single "Beneath Me." The following year, he issued the Redux EP 002 (featuring LoKii, Mr. Tape, and Late Night Alumni), as well as the holiday-themed Kaskade Christmas. The DJ then joined Charlotte Lawrence for the 2018 single "Cold as Stone." His third installment of the Redux series arrived in 2019. Redux EP 003 presented a seamless mix featuring Felix Cartal, Gorgon City, and more. ~ L. DODIE Interview- coming out bisexual, Elle Mills, parents divorce

Dodie Clark (artistically stylized as simply Dodie) is a British singer/songwriter and vlogger known for her bittersweet acoustic romance songs and her creative online activity. She became widely known during her late teens for documenting her life on YouTube, expressing herself artistically through acting and performing. A big part of this was her songwriting, which led to Dodie becoming prominently known for her use of the baritone ukulele and her original songs about love, loss, and yearning. She quickly became an online sensation, eventually earning over 700,000 fans and subscribers to her YouTube channel. In 2016, she began work on her debut EP, Intertwined, which was released later that fall to critical acclaim. Her increasing popularity eventually gave way to live performances around the country, ultimately landing her a spot on the Transatlantic Tour, which found her performing in the U.S. alongside fellow YouTube stars Jon "Paint" Cozart, Rusty Clanton, and Tess Violet. She returned in 2017 with her second release, You. The EP boasted a more tender and somber sound palette than its predecessor, with use of resonant violas, introspective lyrics, and melancholy piano. Dodie's sound continued to evolve over the next two years with the release of softer, more introspective singles like "Human" and "If I'm Being Honest," both of which appeared on her 2019 EP, Human. PINK SWEAT$ Interview- highly depressed, young parents difficulties

Nicknamed after the attire he became known for wearing in recording studios, Pink Sweat$ is a singer and songwriter who favors R&B ballads consisting of only his voice and guitar. After writing material for other artists, he made his recorded debut in 2018 and has released Volume 1 and Volume 2, EPs made with the intent of creating a lasting emotional connection with listeners.A native of Philadelphia, David Bowden was musically inclined as a youngster. He learned to play drums and sang regularly. Raised in a religious household, he didn't get into secular music until his late teenage years, and eventually absorbed a wide breadth of genres. He got into the music industry as a demo vocalist and songwriter at Philly's historic Sigma Sound Studios. With no desire to become a recording artist himself, he co-wrote material for the likes of Rosie Bondz, Natalie Imani, Aaron Camper (including the 2016 single "Guns and Roses"), and Tierra Whack (such as the 2017 single "Child Please" and 2018's "Pretty Ugly"). After surviving a severely debilitating three-year fight with a rare esophageal disorder, he felt inspired to start keeping his songs to himself, and signed a digital distribution deal with Human Re Sources. Bowden made his recorded debut in July 2018 with "Honesty" and "No Replacing You," a pair of heartfelt, unvarnished ballads that sharply contrasted with commercial R&B. Both songs appeared that November on Volume 1, Bowden's first EP. The similarly direct and brief Volume 2 arrived the following March. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi Hosted on Acast. FLUX PAVILION Interview- how he made 'I Can't Stop' in 45 mins

English producer Flux Pavilion started making tracks while still in his teens, focusing on building his own breed of infectious and high-energy dubstep. He quickly grew from self-releasing songs online to issuing new vinyl 12"s with various labels and touring internationally, eventually getting to a new level with his 2010 track "I Can't Stop," which was sampled by Kanye West and Jay-Z. The producer collected some of his sharpest work for his 2015 debut album, Tesla.DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Steele took the name Flux Pavilion around 2008 when he released the track "Cheap Crisps" as a digital download. Steele had grown up in Towcester, where his early musical perspectives had been especially inspired by dubstep producer Rusko as well as classic rock acts like Bowie and Zappa. At the time, he and like-minded producers Doctor P and Trolley Snatcha had been playing in guitar-based bands together, but after downloading some music creation software, they agreed the future was digital and were set on their electronic paths.Watch the Throne Fast-forward to 2010, and Flux Pavilion had made a name for himself with plenty of club hits, remixes, and DJ gigs, but that year's "I Can't Stop" took his career to another level. Two "fans" Steele met on a tour of America asked to sample the cut for their upcoming hip-hop album, and a year later "I Can't Stop" became the basis of "Who Gon Stop Me" on Jay-Z and Kanye West's joint effort Watch the Throne. Flux Pavilion's hit track "Bass Cannon" arrived that same year, along with a collaborative cut with Doctor P, "Super Bad." He released several EPs including 2010's Lines in Wax and 2013's Freeway before a proper studio album materialized in the form of 2015's energetic Tesla. The LP included cameos from artists ranging from media personality Riff Raff to old-school Afrika Bambaataa affiliates Soulsonic Force.Always busy, Steele continued releasing Flux Pavilion singles, EPs, and remixes throughout the 2010s, collaborating again with Doctor P on the Party Drink Smoke EP in 2016 and offering up new tracks like "Party Starter" and "Room to Fall" as the years went on.Listen to Flux Pavilion:https://open.spotify.com/artist/7muzHifhMdnfN1xncRLOqk?si=AUSFMCHnRHir-uYDoXrT6QFollow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkedm Hosted on Acast. One of the most visionary artists in the electronic world today, Mat Zo makes music both forward-pushing and timeless, exactingly crafted and intensely emotional. DANA WILLIAMS Interview- perform with Jay-Z

There’s a transformative power to Dana Williams’ voice, a rare ability to bend time and turn feeling bad into something impossibly lovely. Raised on singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the L.A.-based artist brings a jazzy nonchalance to her delivery while drawing big emotion from the subtlest vocal movement. In recent years she’s gained an ardent following by matching that graceful urgency with her disarmingly intimate songwriting—a dynamic that landed her 2017 single Honey on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist.Growing up in L.A. and New York, Williams first began experimenting with songwriting in middle school, often in collaboration with her father: the late legendary rhythm guitarist David Williams. Within a year of booking her first show, Williams made her debut with The Lonely One—a 2013 EP whose opening track, Keep Me Waiting, earned the distinction of being the only original vocal composition featured in Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning film Whiplash. Delivering her sophomore EP Let's Fall in 2015, she then switched her focus to releasing singles, putting out a track a month for over a year. She also appeared as a featured artist alongside Aminé on Rejjie Snow’s Egyptian Luvr (feat. Aminé and Dana Williams)—a January 2018 single that’s garnered over 20 million streams on Spotify to date. Later that year, Williams caught the attention of Alex Da Kid who signed her to KIDinaKORNER and soon set the making of her major label debut in motion.Interview by Lara Santos:https://www.instagram.com/laraisabird/Listen to Dana Williams:https://open.spotify.com/artist/4rljPSpCHQzUJMNOvmw1DLFollow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkshow Hosted on Acast. BEARS DEN Interview- touring with Daughter, Mumford & Sons

‘So that you might hear me' is the follow-up to Bear’s Den’s debut, Islands, which earned them an Ivor Novello nomination in the UK and a devoted following worldwide, and 2016’s more expansive Red Earth & Pouring Rain. The speed and scale of their success meant that Bear’s Den hadn’t taken a break since forming in 2012. Last year, finally, they took a step back to focus on their future. For the first time, Andrew and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Jones had their own studio, where they could leave their instruments plugged in and come and go as they pleased. Musically, there were no self-imposed constraints. Nor was there a time frame. The result is a record that is both bold and exposed, at once intimate and widescreen. While the music leads the listener down different paths, the lyrics unfold as though revealing secrets, each line littered with clues. ‘So that you might hear me’ is released April 26 2019.Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpop Hosted on Acast. STEPHEN PUTH Interview- brother Charlie Puth, previously working in finance

Stephen Puth knows that the most powerful, heartfelt songs in pop-music history are about love. A singer, songwriter, and musician, Puth also writes songs that traffic in affairs of the heart. But rather than complain about what goes wrong in relationships, the 24-year-old New Jersey native zeroes in on the small, random moments that can become saturated in one’s memory. “It’s boring to just sing about how you got hurt,” Puth declares. “I try to focus on the tiny, specific things I can’t forget, things I didn’t think anything of at the time, but that later become powerful, emotional memories.”Puth does just that on his debut single for Arista Records, “Sexual Vibe” — a retro-tinged song “about that moment where you see someone across the room, maybe at a party, and how you feel before anything even happens,” Puth says. “Nothing may ever happen, but maybe you start talking, maybe you start dancing — it’s about the build-up and seeing where it goes. When I’m writing, I’m interested in how something started, how it ended, and everything in between.”Listen to Stephen Puth:https://open.spotify.com/artist/6B72wjgAkhvxTVCL6xS6mC?si=JTSgL_ImRRi_tlKQLoiq-AFollow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkpop https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpop Hosted on Acast. RYAN CARAVEO Interview- no manager, sharing music on CDs

Seattle-born alt-hip hop artist Ryan Caraveo has returned with a brand new single called “Deceived” via AWAL, available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all DSPs worldwide. The track will be featured on Ryan’s forthcoming album, and continues his prolific musical output on the heels of 2018’s At Least I Tried. For long-time fans of Caraveo’s, “Deceived” has a familiar feel to the edgy yet relatable tendencies the singer’s music has had in the past but with a fresh, alternative-leaning rawness.“‘Deceived’ is a moody banger,” says Caraveo. “It sucks when you're still hung up on someone who's already over you. It sucks even more when they continue stringing you along. That's what this song is about.” We’ve certainly all been there.Ryan Caraveo made his first appearance in 2014 looking clean-cut, while his music was anything but that. His debut album Swings gave listeners a taste of triumph, loss, heartbreak, and his battles with inner demons. The album’s most popular song, “Paradise,” is an uneasy ode to the escape drugs provide and has since been streamed over 20 million times. In 2016, the Pacific Northwest native sold out several of the largest Seattle venues, performed at Sasquatch Festival, and finished the summer by gracing the main stage of the iconic Bumbershoot Festival. Following his 2018 album At Least I Tried, Ryan completed a US headline tour, further displaying his preference for happy melodies paired with gloomy thoughts.Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkrhythm Hosted on Acast. DEVAULT Interview- branding, remix for Rihanna

What started as a creative hobby in the calm scenes of Orange County soon became a personal quest to form something bigger than a unique venture — a modern grunge-esque landscape that takes integral instrumentation with an out of the box like sound design and casts visuals that would be reminiscent of an earlier time where rawness and vulnerability was glorified. The desire to create music and becoming an electronic artist has always been a hidden pulse in his life, whether it stemmed from his early obsessions over Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and A$AP Rocky, or analyzing the blend of fashion, film, and music altogether. It’s no longer a search for genre, but rather an evolving sound, appreciating the trials of young adulthood at age 21 and letting him and his audience grow into something beyond a young man and his music. The journey of Devault is fairly new, but 2017 has sped up his emergence into the scene, already becoming the hottest ticket for official redos of songs as well as garnering well over 10 million total streams on Spotify. This year alone, Devault has been tapped for official remixes with Rihanna, AlunaGeorge, and Kehlani, amassing millions of plays on all platforms and being a crucial part for Rihanna’s “Sex With Me” #1 spot on the Billboard Dance charts.“Everything is so accessible now that it has become quite unique to get my point across outside of just my music catalogue,” he notes. “I’m able to showcase various arts to my audience beyond sound that can convey my thoughts and past emotions. The world I’m creating is vast but specific. Dark emotion and vibrant energy in perfect sequence, and as time presses forward, it will only become more narrow and focused.”With a large demand for new material and talks of a grand live presence, Devault is showing signs of the modern new wave splash on the industry that is taking hold. His current mid-tempo electronica flare has caught ears and leaves the next chapter as exciting as the first. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

AARON CARPENTER Interview- on Netflix show, bff with Cameron Dallas

Growing up in Louisiana, music was Aaron Carpenter’s entire world. Raised on everything from classic country to pop-punk to the Stevie Wonder records his grandmother often spun for him, Carpenter took up drumming at age 11, later teaching himself to play piano and guitar.Showing off his effortless charm, Carpenter’s debut single “Attitude” is an instantly catchy soul-pop confection, all shiny hooks and slinky grooves. But while the track marks his first official release, Carpenter’s charisma will come as no surprise to his nearly 4 million followers on Instagram, where he began posting covers in 2015. A year later, Carpenter headed to L.A. and immersed himself in music, and soon landed in sessions with A-list songwriters. Spending nearly every day in the studio for an entire year, Carpenter scored a deal with Capitol Records in February 2018, then moved forward with the making of his upcoming debut project. In each new song he creates, Carpenter finds himself rediscovering the strong emotional hold that music’s always had on him. “When I hear certain pop songs from the 2000s, it immediately puts me back in the skating rink on a Friday night in junior high—just this moment of total mindless fun,” he says. “I’d love to do that for other people with my music: to take them to a place where nothing else matters in the world, and they can just have a good time.”Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpop Hosted on Acast. PLESTED Interview- writing for Kygo, Zayn, Little Mix

Phil Plested can’t help himself: get him started on the topic of songwriting and the cheerful musician will tell you all the myriad ways in which he’s a tried-and-true believer in the power of a well-crafted song. “That’s natural to me. That’s what I know,” the singer-songwriter says of that almost-surreal way in which a particular set of chords and words can pair with the right melody and then just when the entire world feels in total disarray suddenly it all makes complete sense. “I write songs for those moments,” the artist who performs as Plested offers with a smile. “Regardless of what I’m doing on any given day I’m going to go to the studio and write songs. That’s how I get my emotions out. That’s what’s always there for me.”He’s spent the past several years penning songs for some of pop music’s biggest names, including Little Mix (the UK Top 5 single "Touch"), ZAYN and Kygo. But Plested says he has his own story to tell. Of his decision to launch his solo career and release his forthcoming debut album due later this year, the winsome-voiced singer says, “When you have songs that you really care about and you know you love them there’s nothing to lose. Why give your song away to another artist who is not going to care as much for it? If you can write beautiful songs and you can sing them then why not do it yourself?”Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkpop Hosted on Acast. NINA NESBITT Interview- depressed from record label dropping

Singer and songwriter Nina Nesbitt's mixture of pop-inspired melodies, part-acoustic instrumentation, and yearning relationship angst saw her cast as the female counterpart to Ed Sheeran when she was invited to open shows for him as a teen. However, Nesbitt carved out her own identity and had a U.K. hit with "Stay Out" before landing just outside of the Top Ten with her full-length debut, 2014's Peroxide. She has also written songs for artists such as Jessie Ware and Olivia Holt. The Apple Tree EP Though she had originally wanted to be an author, Scotland-born Nesbitt eventually started setting her short stories to the music that she wrote on the piano and, later, acoustic guitar. At 16, she began performing in Edinburgh and established a video channel where she posted a mixture of original songs and covers. In 2011, a chance encounter and on-the-spot performance of her song "Standing on One Leg" for pop sensation Ed Sheeran led to support slots and an on-stage cameo during his nation-wide tour. In the meantime, her version of Example's "Stay Awake" was heard by the U.K. rapper, and he subsequently invited Nesbitt to join him for dates at the end of his U.K. tour. She self-released her first EP, The Apple Tree, in 2012, and it received radio support from BBC Radio 1.Stay Out A record deal with Island/Universal soon followed, as did a series of EPs, including 2013's Stay Out. It spent a week on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, while the title track reached number 21 on the U.K. singles chart. "Stay Out" reappeared on Nesbitt's full-length debut, 2014's Peroxide, which went to number 11 in the U.K. and 40 in Ireland. It featured other songs from her previous EPs alongside original material. 2014 also saw the release of Sheeran's x LP, which included the songs "Nina" and "Photograph," both inspired by the couple's brief relationship. The Nesbitt EP Modern Love followed in early 2016 before she parted ways with Island. Later in 2016, she self-released the Life in Colour EP and signed with Cooking Vinyl. The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change Her debut for Cooking Vinyl was 2018's Somebody Special EP. Its title song landed in Ireland's Top 100 and received official remixes by Leon Lour and R3hab. At the end of the year, Nesbitt's version of "Oh Holy Night" charted in Sweden. She toured in support of Rudimental in early 2019 before embarking on a headlining tour of the U.S. In the meantime, Cooking Vinyl released her second long-player, The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change, that February. It featured production by Nesbitt, Fraser T. RAJA KUMARI Interview- Indian rapper popstar, show on BBC Radio1

Raja Kumari is a force of nature. She’s a fearless, charismatic personality and natural-born storyteller whose mission is to create art that blends her Indian roots with her American upbringing. Her music is a sonic bridge between East and West that fuses the rhythms she absorbed as a trained classical Indian dancer with her love for hip-hop. Kumari announces that this is the new face of America. “I want my fans to feel one hundred percent seen and to have a safe space to be themselves,” she says. “Because those were the only desires I had as a child.”Born Svetha Rao in Claremont, Calif., to Indian parents who emigrated to the U.S. in the ’70s, Kumari was 13 when she found her calling. “I feel like I’m a seed from the motherland that was sent across the world,” she says. “Culture is part of my identity because we, as Indian-Americans who grew up away from India, have to be the vessels of culture. We have to hold on because it’ll be lost within one generation. That’s why it so heavily influences my music and look. It’s not a gimmick to me. It’s an expression of a lifetime of trying to preserve it.”At 14, she adopted her stage name, which means “princess” in Sanskrit. “That’s when I personified this strong, female goddess character called ‘Raja Kumari,’ the daughter of the king, and the king was God. So in my mind, I was the daughter of God.”Kumari also went on to co-write hit songs for Fall Out Boy (Centuries), Fifth Harmony, Lindsey Stirling, and Gwen Stefani.Follow Sidewalk Talk:https://twitter.com/sidewalktalkshw (all updates)https://instagram.com/sidewalktalkshowFollow me, Lauren Engel:http://www.instagram.com/engelaurenhttp://www.twitter.com/engelaurenCheck my photography website:http://www.engelauren.comLogo animation: https://www.instagram.com/nvte.stuff/Email: lauren@sidewalktalks.com Hosted on Acast. The song became an Internet hit, and landed her record deals with +1 Records/Honeymoon in the U.S. and PIAS' Different Recordings in the U.K. She followed up the song with "The Dreamer" and "Baby," both in early 2016. The rest of that year saw continued success for Lotterud as she embarked on a European tour in support of Norwegian DJ Kygo before rounding off 2016 with two more singles -- "Oslo" and "Us," both of which met critical acclaim. More accomplishments fed into 2017, with Lotterud featured on the track "911/Mr. Lonely," by American rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator, alongside contemporary R&B singer/songwriter Frank Ocean. In September, she put out her debut full-length effort, Lovers, which was led by the single "Someone" and the title track. Early 2019 saw Lotterud issue the emotional standalone single "Leaning on Myself." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

LAUREN AQUILINA- performing w/ Taylor Swift, working w/ Little Mix

Bristol born vocalist and songwriter Lauren Aquilina found her start with her honest songwriting, piano-led ballads and a loyal fanbase who stuck with her through a trilogy of formative EPs. Supported by BBC Introducing, The Line Of Best Fit, Popjustice, The Independent among other tastemakers, this chapter of her career saw her hand-picked by Taylor Swift as an opener for the 1989 tour and culminated in the release of her debut album ‘Isn’t It Strange’ through Island Records in 2016.Following the release of the album and an open struggle with depression, Aquilina decided to put her career as an artist to one side, and focus on life as a songwriter. During her first year of writing for others, she co-wrote American singer/songwriter Fletcher’s single “I Believe You” which was inspired by her own #MeToo experiences, and has been working alongside some of pop’s hottest names. Now it’s September 2018 and Aquilina has taken almost two years to compose, create and evolve her sound and she’s making the best music of her career. Taking inspiration from the raw emotion of Alanis Morissette mixed with the soaring pop melodies of Robyn, comeback single ‘Psycho’ sees an artist coming into their own and suggests that Lauren Aquilina is well and truly returning for good. KEVIN MCHALE- in Glee and life after, coming out accidentally, releasing music

After over a decade of assuming key roles on everything from FOX’s EMMY® Award-winning Glee to the acclaimed ABC mini-series When We Rise, Kevin McHale formally introduced himself as an artist in 2019 with an infectious and idiosyncratic take on pop. As a child in Texas, he took the first step towards a life in music. In 2007, he launched his career in the pop group NLT before transitioning to film and television full-time. Beyond memorable spots on the likes of True Blood and The Office, he spent six seasons on Glee as fan favorite Artie Abrams in addition to touring the country in the show’s live production and appearing on the big-screen in Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. During this time, he attracted millions of followers online and garnered nominations at the Teen Choice Awards and beyond. Along the way, he quietly wrote songs and spent countless hours in the studio. Encouraged by NLT collaborator and producer Justin Thorne as well as songwriter Wednesday, he crafted his debut solo EP, Boy — released as the first artist signing for innovative industry platform Vydia in 2019. The project illuminates the nuances of Kevin’s manic love for a wide swath of genres, finding a middle ground between influences as diverse as SZA and nineties pop favorites a la *NSYNC and Britney Spears. Case in point, the first single “Help Me Now” skitters from jubilant funk guitar into swells of eighties style synths punctuated by wild howl. Most importantly, it hints at a lot more to come. CHASE MARTIN- rejecting Ivy Leagues for country music

Chase Martin knew long before anyone else in the world that she wanted to be a musician - perhaps even before she knew she wanted to be one herself. “I was in the fourth grade and there was a talent show coming to my school,” she says of her first ever performance. However there was one small problem: “I had no talent and I only had three weeks to find one.” Chase had never so much as attempted to play or sing a note in her life, nevertheless she signed herself up to sing and play guitar. "I came home and I told my mom I had signed myself up for the talent show at school and I wanted to sing and play guitar in it … she said ‘Chase you don’t sing and you don’t own a guitar.’” Ever the practical young lady, she responded “Well, I’m going to need one.”Describing her own sound, she refers to herself as a “Country R&B” artist. By way of explanation, you need to understand Chase’s influences. “When my dad would request songs from me to sing and play, it was always country: Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn,” she explains. “I personally love all genres of music, with Country Music being a favorite, of course, but my biggest musical influences were artists like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey. Those were my girls. I love to vocally challenge myself and those women set the bar for that.” Marrying these genres and others has lead to Martin’s signature sound, blending the storytelling of country with the vocal stylings of Pop/R&B.
