Jim and Jennifer Stolpa and their infant son, Clayton, were traveling to Idaho to attend a family funeral, when they realized main interstate highway had been shut down due to a bad blizzard. Jim and Jennifer decided to find an alternate route, however instead of going around the storm like they intended, the couple drove directly into it, and got stuck in the snow. By the time they got stuck, it was dark, the were in the middle of nowhere, and no one knew they had changed course.

They didn't know it at the time, however after leaving the gas station, Eric Parnell followed close behind.

In the fall of 1961, Julian Harvey had been pulled out of the ocean from a dinghy. He claimed the Bluebell, a ship he had been the captain for, had hit an unexpected squall which caused the ship to sink, taking everyone on board down with it. That story was believable until 11-year-old Terry Jo Duperrault was found near death on the open ocean after 4 days on a small cork raft. Terry Jo had a much different version of events from the night the Bluebell sank. 

When a Hollywood camera crew set out to film an active volcano they end up in a helicopter crash into the volcano. 

On Friday the 13th of October 1995, best friends Misty Cockerill and Tanya Smith were walking to a friends birthday party around midnight when a man emerged from the bushes and attacked them with a baseball bat. Hours later, Misty woke up in the grass dazed and confused but managed to stumble her way to the nearby emergency room. However the Abbotsford killer was only getting started. Terry Driver spent the next seven months taunting the police with phone calls and letters and terrorizing the city of Abbotsford, Canada. 

Blake Stanfeild and his father Neil planned to go on a six day rafting trip in the remote Alaskan wilderness, sixty miles from civilization, to celebrate Neil's 65th birthday. But when their raft hit an unexpected patch of ice, the strong current sent the men underneath. The two managed to find a pocket of air under the ice covering the raging river, however this was only the start of their fight to stay alive.

In 2015 Victoria Cilliers nearly plummeted to her death after jumping out of an airplane and discovering that both her initial and reserve parachute had malfunctioned. Victoria miraculously survived the fall, however an investigation was promptly opened after  experts had been lead to believe that her kit had been tampered with. After uncovering more of what was going on behind the scenes in Victorias life, investigators discover the person responsible for the faulty parachute may have attempted to take Victoria’s life on another occasion.

Long time friends and mountaineers Jim and Mike were on a trip to summit one of America's highest peaks, Mount Rainer. Eastern Airline's Flight 401 from New York to Miami was about to touch down, when their landing gear malfunctioned. Julian and Carolynne had been dating for 2 years, and planned to have a picnic on the 1200 acre property that Julian's mom owned in Budgeree, Australia. They were having a great time by the casual, yet natural, 10 foot waterfall at the end of one of the trails. They were supposed to be home in a couple of hours, and wanting to be on time, they packed up and headed out.  On the morning of May 31st 1921, 19-year-old Dick Rowland, a Black shoeshiner, was accused of assaulting Sarah Page, the 17-year-old white elevator operator of the Drexel Building. After being arrested, a white mob formed outside of the county courthouse, where he was being held, with the intention of taking Rowland out and murdering him. The black citizens of Tulsa knew that Rowland was innocent and that they needed to do something in order to keep him alive. Lincoln Hall was a mountaineer from a very young age, and had an intense passion for getting to summit Mount Everest. After a first failed attempt, Lincoln was given one last opportunity 22 years later at the age of 50.  He knew he had to rely on mental strength to conquer Everest in this last attempt, however making it to the top is only half the battle.  After getting to the summit, Lincoln experienced a severe form of altitude sickness while still very close to the top, which caused him to pass out in the snow and fall into a comatose state. Believing Lincoln was dead, his two guides had to make the difficult decision to leave him on the mountain, taking all of his belongings with them to give back to Lincoln's loved ones. After waking up a few hours later, the very confused Lincoln, needed to keep himself alive at the top of Mount Everest with no gear, food, water, or oxygen. In 2018, hip hop artist Jet McKee broke into the home of Blake Davis and Hannah Quinn, heavily armed, high on crystal meth, and hellbent on robbing the couple. In a panicked state and after a violent attack, Blake Davis grabbed a decorative samurai sword he had in the room to protect both Hannah and himself. Davis said he had no choice when he used the sword, and if he hadn't McKee would've killed Hannah. On December 11th 1994, highly skilled bomb maker and terrorist, Ramzi Yousef boarded Philippine Airlines flight 434 with service to Tokyo with intent to kill everyone on board. For Colleen Stan the decision to hitchhike to southern California to surprise a friend for her birthday proved to be a fateful one. In May of 1977, Colleen Stan got into the car of Cameron and Janice Hooker for an uneventful ride, however what followed was years of torture. February 2nd 2001 started out as any other day for the principal of Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary School.
