Where does the fear come from? Today I am humbled and honored to have Andrew and David Taylor on the Podcast. David is the identical twin brother of Seth Taylor who co-wrote the book Feels Like Redemption and who started the My Pilgrimage.com and Facebook group which I highly recommend. The shield of Faith - I want to call your attention to this one piece of the armor carried by the blood bought. The most important step of the 12 steps? Step one “you have a problem. Your life has become unmanageable.” But how deep does that go? Are we really ever in control really? Mars Hill Church flourished in the urban Ballard neighborhood at a time when the Barna research group reported Seattle was the least churched city in the US. With the crowds of people seeking God and learning about faith came the challenges of people needing relational, family and marital hopefulness as well as those seeking freedom from life-threatening addictions. Seth Taylor's book feels like redemption and my pilgrimage program is something I stand behind not only because Seth and I are friends but because of the research I myself have diligently pursued over the last 11 years of podcasting on the topics of addiction, theology, compulsive behavior, intimacy, psychology, social psychology, Church, spirituality and well-being. From mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy, bodywork muscle memory locked in our physical being due to past traumas too biblical Christian theology that is rooted in the experienced, transformative faith of the desert fathers. A time before the Reformation before even Roman Catholicism. The way of early Christians that walked with Jesus and live by the Spirit. Are all included in this work. And while I still don't agree with every human being on everything I am endorsing Seth Taylor and his brother's work with my pilgrimage and the book feels like redemption. If you're serious about overcoming the most stickiest of addictions and the most stubborn of compulsive behaviors I highly recommend this work.

Love and connection, passion and desire, the need to be valued and feel whole all of these are a part of this conversation. Or a story that encourages healing? In my experience most people who I've met that criticize The Shack have never read it. Pulling a weed will always leave a brown bear spot. Sometimes long-term victory over our sexual compulsion can be the hard part. I read a heavy hearted listeners email and talk about some of my own story as it relates to life after sex addiction.

I felt like a misfit in church and spiritual community. Like I just didn't fit in. When I finally picked up the very heavy phone and finally called for help I found myself in a recovery group. After listening to the stories I realized these people are misfits too! Felt like "These are my people!" Felt like home. Yes, I can be myself here! I started to open up my vulnerable wounded heart. Truth is nobody is perfect. And some can have a very real addiction to relationships and how they unfold in the group dynamic. Some love the very healthy free flow of heart level of communication. Some are very ego driven and toxically unhealthy. I do believe in groups and the powerful healing that can happen there. So Seth Taylor and I unpack what can be healthy and unhealthy about the group dynamic.

As sexual integrity breaks down. And the tick, tick of the time bomb runs out... What happens when the bomb goes off? The blast, shrapnel flies everywhere breaking, (most of all) trust. Not to mention the wounds left on close relationships and family members can be extremely severe. My guess today had a bomb go off in his life in a big way. It begs the question, can we disarm the time bomb or is the bomb building revealing something deeper that needs to be diffused? Russ tells a story about going to the ER last Tuesday. And, Russ and Jim have coffee and discuss the question; what does it mean to hack the ministry? Well, for obvious reasons the word "Christian" for example has been drug through the mud. So many "leaders" have blindly broken trust with the people they say they're so desperate to "save". Today would it mean for ministries to actually pushback what's evil and life choking in the world and make a difference in this post modern day and age, full of cold hearted certainty addicts and skeptics?
